Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars 🤩 Monique took such good care for us and Michael put on a great show while making super yummy food in front of us. Highly recommend for families!! Monique was incredibly accommodating and kind to our two year old twins. We’ve found our new go-to place for special occasions or just an “exciting dinner” (as Twin B put it 😄).

We came for dinner with parents, the two female staffs were very unfriendly. We were sitting with another family, the staff served us very differently. 这个饭店的服务员对老外非常热情， 对中国人不理睬。 我来了25 年第一次在澳洲感觉到崇洋媚外。 永远不会再来。

Our 1 year anniversary spent at ichiban was so memorable. The staff were great and so was the food!

service was good place was disgusting and dirty food i wouldnt feed to my neighbours cat and the cat loves asian food ichiban gave me ichibum honestly had to take worming tablets and a tetnis shot after eating in at inchibum

Their service makes us feel uncomfortable, especially the chef, I really not recommend this restaurant

We had a wonderful time celebrating a combined birthday and graduation at Ichiban. Everything from the food being delicious and service being exemplary made us feel very well taken care of as a big group of 7 adults and 2 kids.I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of eating here, especially for celebrations as the chefs are quite entertaining with the performances as well as flexible with any dietery restrictions.Sue took really good care of our group and we would gladly go back.

Ichiban is incredible!!! The food, staff and vibe were all perfect, but what was really above and beyond was the way Monique and Fab entertained our two year old! Going out for dinner with him is usually a nightmare but they went so out of their way to entertain him with jokes, attention, stickers, fire, and care, our chef even picked up a prawn and sang baby shark to him and made him feel so chuffed when he threw rice bowls at him from a careful short distance so that he actually caught them! Monique cuddled our baby so we could eat and it was all just 10/10! The whole way home our two year old screamed “more Teppanyaki!” - we can’t wait to return, thank you for such outstanding service and the best night out we have had in years!

We had our staff Christmas dinner here and had a great time. We own BFT doncaster a gym not far from this establishment and we had a great experience. The food was fresh and healthy and the staff were entertaining and welcoming. Will definitely be back

We had the most wonderful dinner at Ichiban Teppanyaki in Doncaster East to celebrate our anniversary, and it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight was the teppanyaki chef, whose sense of humor and playful banter made the evening so much fun. His ability to match our energy and create a lively atmosphere elevated the dinner to something truly special. The food was absolutely delicious – we chose the seafood combination, and every bite was perfection. The classic teppanyaki antics, like throwing the egg and rice, added an extra layer of entertainment, even if it got a little messy (in the best way possible!). All praise to the chef for delivering such a superb and memorable experience. The service was equally impressive. Our waiter was amazing—attentive, friendly, and always there when we needed her, offering drinks and making sure we were well taken care of without being intrusive. Ichiban is a fantastic place for any occasion. Whether you're celebrating something special or just looking for great food and a fun night out, I cannot recommend it enough. We came here as a party of 7 adults and 2 toddlers not only was it a super fun experience but they were SUPER kid friendly!! Monique went above and beyond for us and the kids and made it a really enjoyable experience, we had Fab as our chef and he not only cooked our food perfect he also made the experience so fun and really funny! We didn't stop laughing the entire time. I highly recommend this place to everyone it's a great well rounded experience.

We visited the restaurant tonight to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The chef made it a lot of fun for the kids, letting them try cooking, play games, and even write ‘Happy Birthday’ on the cooking plate with salt.

We unexpectedly got into this gem. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Excellent service. Teppanyaki was exceptional and the chef was so entertaining. We will be visiting Ichiban again.

I would be impressed if it's 80s, but pretty disappointed with the average food but expensive price. The whole restaurant only has three groups of customers on Friday night! And the Wagyu beef tastes like very average supermarket beef. I wouldn't recommend to go if you are looking for some good Tapan yaki experience. The only thing I can think of worth to go is only if you have kids who would find the Tapan yaki performance of throwing food into your mouth" entertaining."

What a great night! Cannot speak highly enough of the service we received. We had 10 in our party and the wait staff were attentive and were always on hand without being intrusive. The food was amazing as was our very talented and funny chef. Our concern was the amount of food we would get but there was so much that we started feeling full before the end! Had a birthday celebration dinner for 5 people. We initially excluded my niece (10 yo) from eating with us due to her many allergies. However, Monique understood my niece's condition very well and reassured my niece that her food would be specially prepared. We were glad my niece participated in the dinner with us. The chef was really funny and entertaining. Got us involved in some food antics. Overall, we had a wonderful time, with good food, good service and delightful entertainment by the chef. Would definitely recommend this place.

Honestly the best teppenkaki in Melbourne. Very reasonably priced and delicious. The chef was super entertaining and the owner is super funny and welcoming.

We took 7 kids for a school holiday activity and the kids (as well as us adults) had such a great time!! So much laughing and entertainment. The food was great and the staff were amazing, the kids even had lessons on how to use chopsticks! I have been to many teppanyaki resturants this was by far the best!

We visited for dinner 2 adults and 3 kids. A great family restaurant and would also suit a larger group. The food was as you would expect at a teppanyaki place as well as the entertainment. We ordered small sake, mock tails for the kids and the ‘signature’ pack. Serving size was generous. All worth it because our chef thoroughly entertained the kids with tricks. They were laughing all the way through the night and our waitress was also very professional and genuine. Worth the drive out to Doncaster.

Chef is super entertaining but a bit too loud. The service was pretty good though, Monique was really attentive and patient. She told us about the sauces on the plate and even encouraged us to take away our leftovers (whereby we feel shy to ask). Overall, the food was delicious! A good place for special occasions and gathering.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience. The food was delicious. The staff very warm, respectful, and kind in their service. The chef was brilliant and enthusiastic about his craft and it was a delight to watch him work. The Japanese chefs hands moved so fast we weren’t really able to capture a photo of his tricks during the dinner that would do justice to the experience. It was quite an impressive. We came for teppanyaki as part of a Groupon voucher for my wife’s birthday and her first experience with it and she was very happy. Our little daughter was also giggling at the tricks and enthusiasm of the chef. Lovely family event overall. The decor was also lovely and warm. The cocktail my partner ordered was fruity and refreshing. And the highlights of the teppanyaki was also definitely the simple appreciation of each food item cooked to perfection with flavours that were ‘just right’ (esp. the beef, fish, chicken, and prawn). The 3 different sauces you get to dip your meats into are also a nice addition. The rice and vegetable dishes were good fillers too. Very happy with everything, couldn’t fault them. Would be happy to go again. Thank you for the lovely evening.
