Fantastic venue with great service

Awesome weekend away. Lovely staff.

Love the room, love the beer garden/pool/pond areas and the lady at reception was really nice too.

I stay in many properties around the world and never encountered a property manager as NON hospitable as the one at Nightcap (Angela) - it was in her power to make it right by the customer after I lost all my booking money due to a tech mistake/ lack of reception and she refused to do it right quoting a policy. The place may be great, but the understanding of what hospitality is lacks severely.

Good service, great food With a stunning view of a lake and bushland

Nice Christmas lunch, nice motel room. Unfortunately I left something important in the room. Rang the motel , spoke to the very nice lady who checked us out .No problem she said , we will have it for you . How long will you be ? An hour plus later I arrived. Different woman, different attitude . Her demeanor was that I was annoying her by asking for my item. Not here she said sharply . When I said nervously that I had rang earlier, she sharply answered I only just arrived. Then as I again tried to get assistance she answered the phone and completely ignored me. I asked again, she disappeared and the original lady appeared and sharply told me I could get my item from the cart of the cleaning staff. Which I did . I'm given to wonder what was said between them to make the original nice lady then to be sharp with me . This experience ruined a nice stay .

Great staff, good cook, hot and cooked to perfection.

Our dining experience at Bistro was extremely dissatisfying. Specially their chips says V on the menu but it came with a gravy without us asking for it which had beef and we religiously do not eat beef. Taste and quality of food was also below average. Not recommended. Specially if you are a vegeterian.

Nightcap at York was lovely place with a great view of the lake and its unique wild bird life . The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The meals were delicious and the spa was fantastic.

Great food,relaxing heated outdoor area

This is the second time we’ve stayed at this accommodation and we’ve really enjoyed both times. Location is great for our requirements and the rooms are really spacious and well equipped, the beds and pillows are really comfy and the staff are friendly and helpful. The check in and out process was very easy and efficient. We stayed for 3 nights this time and we ate at The Collective twice and had coffees 2 of the mornings which was all delicious. The staff were really friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be staying here each time we visit our family as it’s perfectly located and has everything we need onsite. Highly recommend!

Very comfortable and clean, bed very comfortable. We checked in after hours as we attended the red hot summer tour at Rochford wines and the check in info was easy to follow. Will be back and recommend to friends and family.

BE PREPARED TO PAY THE $50 FEE JUST TO RECEIVE A WAKE UP CALL AT NORMAL CHECKOUT Normal checkout:10am, Late checkout ($50 fee):12pm Wake up call that wasn't requested:10:20ish am Whilst the faculties itself were nice, loved the idea of 2 restaurants and the bars, the grounds looked beautiful. The rooms weren’t amazing but definitely not the worst I’ve seen or stayed they were pretty decent. Bed was comfy. Just incredibly disappointed that they charged us an $50 extra for late checkout (which is completely fine as we understand staff need to stay back later to do the room, it’s also the only place we ever stayed that does this) and we got woken up closer to normal checkout then late..Had we not paid anything extra we would be more okay with it but this was just an absolute waste of money… would have been nice to get a refund for late checkout or at the very least an apology… the receptionist response when we brought it up was “ah well”… would have had more luck and better use of that $50 on the pokies than checkout.

The hotel is brand new and is on very good location. The family bistro served very tasty food, had one of the best garlic breads , portion sizes are very generous. The hotel looks very modern, clean and it had a very relaxing jacuzzi. The parking is right infront of your room. Room size is quite big and the tv has Netflix which is a plus. The receptionist was very kind and helpful also giving a map to help us. This hotel is amazing and would give it more than 5 stars if could… extremely recommended!

Upon arrival, the rooms were nice and tidy. A kettle, tea and coffee, shampoo and conditioner, all the essentials were provided. However there was absolutely no WI-FI. We would either have to leave our room or go into the bathroom to get good service. The tennis court and pool was in less than perfect condition. The tennis court had no net and the pool was dirty (duck poo, leaves, etc.). The laundry facilities had no washing detergent or powder.

Check in was a nightmare after checking in online. Only one person at reception and waited 25 minutes in a queue to get the keys.

Great service! Was offered a free late check out when I informed them that I had mistakenly booked the wrong date for our stay. They also provided 2 free drinks on the house when dining at the bar, along with a 10% off the total bill. Great stuff!! Managed to see some very cute birds too

I booked for 2 nights for a family gathering 5 mins from hotel. My overall experience was fantastic bistro meal was amazing (pork ribs) and you get a 10% discount if you stay

Disappointed firstly the pool was really dirty and cold, even we were there on a warm day, no one can swim in there.We stayed for 2 night but I don’t think our towels get changed. The one hang up on the rack look dirty with spot on them.The service was terrible. We went to the reception to ask to help for printing the parking display that we need for the puffing billy. I know it’s our responsibility but it would be just a one minute job to print out a single sheet of paper. And indeed I was more upset with the attitude rather than the service itself. She could have tell me in a more informative way than say, I have a 20 minutes report to write, early on a Sunday morning. Also tried the bistro bar. Ordered burger for my son, which was not cooked properly and when I let the staff know, she brought back the cash without even asking any question of what our preference was. Salmon salad was bland. We also ordered the mixed platter, most of the food were burnt.Definitely Not gonna come back to either hotel or restaurant.

We stayed for 2 nights and the room was not vacuumed, dirty carpet. Towel unchanged, we can see dirty spot on our towel hanging on the rack. The beds have wheels on them which made it very uncomfortable to sleep on something that moves easily. Staff is not friendly and helpful. I asked for help to print a parking pass for display on the car but was turned away because the lady (who open the door on 5/11/23) said she have to do a 20 minutes report. I’m sure this took less than 2 minutes of her precious time to help. And we were more disappointed with her attitude. We ended up having the staff at the cafe next door helping us with no issue at all. We also dine in at the bistro during our stay. After waited for a long time (the restaurant was busy, which we accept) but the staff brought out the mixed platter with most things either oily or burnt. The salmons salad was bland. The burger was under cooked. We told the staff and 10 minutes later she bring back the money without even asking what our preference was. My son was left hungry and we could not wait for another 30 minutes so we just left.

We stayed at York on Lilydale because we were there for a gig. We were very surprised by how nice the room was. Beautiful view, comfortable bed and the spa was luxurious. One of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. If I didn’t have to work I’d have stayed another night.

We stayed a night as we were going to a wedding located at the venue next-door. Spotless clean, great bed. Perfect for the occasion.

Great place to stay with family. Service is friendly and great. Bistro food is delicious and good value. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. Great location for exploring Dandenong ranges or Yarra valley. Highly recommend.

Bed was soft, the room was warm, clean and very quite. A gr8 place to stay.

Came on a Friday night, kitchen didn't open till 6 wich we all found odd. There should at least be bar meals available, huge turn off as we were told by girls at the bar only outside was available with not very good heaters. Wasn't very appealing to the kids or to us.

Different from photos. The room view was not like advertised but the reception was very friendly.

Room is fine. Just be aware that is in a remote area with no Vodafone signal. Which would not be an issue if there was working WiFi. But WiFi is terrible and staff not helpful.

Room had a bad musty spell. Shower had no pressure for first ten minutes Room service cuts of to early compared to any hotel I have stayed in previously. Complementary water had been opened previously and smelled strange. staff were nice is the only good thing I can say about this place.

Close to where we needed to be big open clean rooms disappointing no toaster in room & steps outside rooms 1 to 5 have no rail to help elderly up, was a safety issue, not major but should be looked at.

The York has good facilities and is very well located for my business purposes.

Easy booking and check-in. Receptionist Laura nice and friendly and efficient. Clean room and bathroom. Excellent food in “The Collective”.

A hidden oasis in the beautiful hills of Mt evelyn. Rooms are spectacular, comfortable large and the spa when available is amazing. We had 4 in one day haha. It's an escape tucked right in the mess of the big city suburbs. Do you self a favour and walk around the pond and feed the ducks. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful staff, relaxing vibe, delicious meals and drinks, comfortable rooms, cleanliness, caters to all ages/lifestyles...

Location is great and that's all it's good for. Bathroom dark and outdated with its incredibly deep jacuzzi bath; why is that needed? Better still don't answer! No good for person with mobility issues either. Room needs the bathroom door wiped down as lots of dirty marks all over it.

Stayed here 1 night. Room is very spacious we had 2x studio twin queen rooms. Amenities were great. Staff are friendly and helpful. I'm surprised that they had very larger towels here. In NZ they only have the standard size (Big island family) we were in rooms 5 and 6 which is the ground floor and our backyard flowed out to a pond. Very much enjoyed our stay. This place had it all. Entertainment area, places to eat, the pool and there's a liquor store on the right side in the same parking lot complex.

It was very clean and was a smooth late check in.

Stayed for 2 nights in the studio spa room with balcony. Super comfy bed, lovely views from the balcony, very clean room and staff were friendly. I'll definitely come back.

Dissatisfied, priced at $129 online but charged $209 because it was a walk up booking ... $80 more for tariff I do question this but no one can answer???

Very very poor customer service

Rarely write such a review but this was simply poor. No sound proofing meant the drunks keep you awake at night & the elderly wale you in the morning. And no breakfast facilities. Overpriced rort.

We stayed one night and felt was really good value for money. Quiet, clean room looking over the lake and bush, balcony with afternoon sun, good mattress on bed meant we slept well. Main bar stylish though we chose to eat in the family bistro. Good meals, generous serves with seniors option on most meals. Reception and bar staff welcoming and professional. Experienced that wonderful Melbourne service. Would definitely stay again.

A great price and a comfy bed

The Nightcap; a tranquil space where we could go to and from a nearby wedding. The forested views from our room were so beautiful in the morning dew. The room was clean and adequately serviced with the heater on upon our arrival. The cleaning staff that we crossed paths with were very friendly. Some noise from nearby guests.

Great venue saw a live show, pub has 2 eateries, pokies and Hotel,conference room, Collective Bar by far the best with attached beer garden, open fire pit and roof heaters, great food and bar prices.

Got everything a tired traveller needs and wants

We didn’t get the room we booked and the accommodation is next to the bar outdoor area which means that is loud and you can hear drunk people yelling until late in the night. Not worth it at all.

Angels concert 40th anniversary of the darkroom album once again a bloody good nite from the band.

It was better than the Cranbourne one because the beds are very comfortable

I have stayed at York on Lilydale many times in the past and hold some beautiful memories especially in river view rooms. Staff are lovely and spa suite always immaculate. Highly recommend a stay here. Thankyou.

Absolute delight stay

The entertainment facilities were great and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious however took to long to come out so we ravished. Unfortunately the rooms were sub par, smelling very musty or damp to the point were we had to sleep with the door open. The shower was in the spa which was very dangerous to step in and out of and the hot water kept surging from super hot to cold which is a safety hazard and received a scolded head.

Visited during the Easter break, Bistro was super busy as expected and orders took an hour to get to our tables but the good food made up for it. Stayed the night , beds were comfortable and room was spacious. Our room was facing the lake and view was beautiful. Overall a pleasant experience.
