Booked and paid for a function for 20-30 people on a Saturday night, 7pm. The bar called last drinks at 8:30 and we were told we had to leave now" at 9pm!"

Period Hotel. Far more interesting than a big busy hotel. Very cool place with very helpful staff. Perfect location.

Prima hotel. Je voelt dat je een beetje terug bent gegaan in de tijd. Wij hadden een prettige kamer en de locatie is top

Anthony was such a joy and wonderful welcome to Hobart. The rooms and heritage of the hotel is exquisite. Can’t wait to return

We had a perfect stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My dad has some mobility issues and the lovely guy at the front desk (didn't catch his name, but I think he was Italian?) organised for a shower chair to be put in my parents' room. Will definitely be staying here next time I visit Hobart. Thank you Hadley's Orient Hotel!!!

Beautiful reminds me of Clardges in London

Exceptional customer service every time we visit. Staff are always friendly and helpful with great knowledge of the hotels history and local area. We have met some of the most delightful staff during our visits over the years. Kitty is wonderful to chat with, however she was on leave and we had the pleasure of meeting Puneet who was extremely busy but still found time to assist with our check in and we had a great time chatting with him. Also, special thanks to Mila for all the extra care and joy making our stay be beyond our expectations. We look forward to returning soon.

Our stay at Hadley’s was excellent! It’s right in the heart of the Hobart CBD, and this breakfast was really nice. We had continental breakfast, eggs on toast and the big English brekky. They also provide juice and coffee refills. The beds and bathroom was really clean, and they also provide a fridge, kettle and mini bar. The Frenchman and Nepalese receptionists were really friendly and helpful, and I even got to speak to the Bangladeshi cleaner while she was cleaning our room. In fact all the staff here show a welcoming vibe and provide excellent hospitality. I will always have fantastic memories of my stay in Hobart!

Vintage hotel with very nice breakfasts. The room is a bit old but clean enough. Pretty building and a gorgeous restaurant.

High Tea - nice mix of tasty treats and variety of teas. Good value compared to other high teas, good service and the space was light with a nice olde world charm. Two small things that would improve the experience and overall atmosphere would be some appropriate background music and ceiling fans. It was a warm day and beginning to get a bit stuffy when we left. Otherwise 4 stars.

Okay stay. Very noisy due to being an older building. One of the guys at front desk was super nice and helped make a nicer stay.

Cannot recommend Hadley highly enough. All staff were incredibly respectful and hospitable. We originally had a botched booking with another accommodation and Hadley came to the last minute rescue. Anthony and Kitty had exceptional customer service and a real asset to the face of Hadley. Very comfortable and immaculate rooms. Thank you for making our stay welcome!

Terrifically comfy bed, great room upgrade, excellent bathroom, reasonable mini bar prices and excellent location close to nice restaurants, plenty of bars and Hobart wharf. And mostly the delightful staff throughout the hotel. Highly recommend!

This charming historic hotel was an excellent base for my Tassie adventures (solo, 30s, old lady at heart). The staff are friendly and helpful, and the whole place has a warmth and unique character that made my stay memorable. The bus interchange, waterfront, and several popular spots like Hanging Gardens bar and Fuller's Bookshop are within 500 metres. ||||Be sure to spend some time downstairs in an antique armchair, soaking up the atmosphere with your companions (or a book from Fuller's). And even visitors can come in for a drink or to explore the stories on the walls of musicians, con artists and Antarctic explorers who have stayed at the hotel in times gone by - so check it out even if you're not staying.

A charming and historic landmark. Very friendly staff. Centrally located. A beautiful building. ||The newspaper with stories about Antarctic explorers was a nice touch. If I had any feedback it would be that the in room coffee might have been higher quality but that’s a very minor thing.

Exceptional hotel, experience and service! Many thank to Anthony for his help and suggestions ❤️ We can't wait to come back for another stay 🙏🏻

Always a comfortable stay.

Afternoon tea was lovely but the communication and service was a bit lacking. We were meant to do the Murder Mystery Afternoon Tea but this never happened. Quite a good offering of food and tea though.

Great location in the CBD

I was very excited to be staying at such a beautiful hotel and learn about it's history but when we walked into the lobby we were met with rude staff that talked to us in such a condescending way. When we asked questions about our stay they looked at us as if we were dumb and an inconvenience to them. We also noticed that when other people (that were staying at the hotel) entered the build the receptionist would welcome them back in. Only once were my friend and I welcomed into the hotel and it was by and older gentlemen. Every other time my friend and I were met with rude stares when we enter the hotel to go back to our room. Another incident that we encountered during our stay was that our room door was left wide opened after it had been cleaned. After a day out exploring Hobart we came back to our room and shocked that our door was left wide opened. We were lucky that all our valuable items were on us and nothing got stolen. We would not recommend this Hotel if you are young or have a different look/style from the average person as the staff seem to treat you poorly.

We loved staying an ahistorical and near original character fill building. The location was perfect for us. Just a stroll to the harbour which was the main hub for our stay. Happy with parking in secure building next door. The rooms were small but very clean and comfortable. Staff friendly, welcoming, cheery and accommodating. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast. And felt like overall the Hotel was great value for money overall.

Absolutely loved my stay at Hadley's! It is the most beautiful, elegant, historical hotel. Great location too, and very quiet at night. That and the comfy bed made it easy to get a good night's sleep. Staff were friendly and the whole experience was wonderful. I'll definitely be back!

Always a treat to stay at The Hadley when we pass through Hobart. It’s a gem. A delightful old building. Charming decor and service. And the art !!! I love the art hanging in the reception. ||||The gentleman on reception were super helpful and the welcome so warm. It’s like coming home. ||||Thank you all.

The ambience of the beautiful old building built in 1834 has been sensitively restored and was the highlight for me.||Also, most of the staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful but I did feel that in particular areas such as the afternoon tea and evening meal that a few more staff may help with service delivery. The staff working were attentive to our needs.||The traditional afternoon tea in the atrium was lovely. Just needed an explanation to all at the beginning about what was on offer. For those of us who stayed we also enjoyed the murder mystery card game.||And finally the free audio story trail was wonderful and showed how much history is associated with the hotel.||Thanks to Kitty, Chelsea,Esme,Hali,Ash and Ewan for making us feel welcome. There was an issue with an odour in our room on arrival but after some discussion and time Ellie organised attention to this.||And a big thank you to kitchen staff. The duck I ate was the best I've ever eaten and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the fresh gnocchi dish. We tried the historic cucumber icecream which is part of the history of this hotel.||Thank you

Wonderful stay in a spacious room, very comfortable and well equipped. ||The staff was also very friendly and very helfpful. ||The location is also very convinient right at the center of Hobart. ||I would definitley recommend this place and come back again.

A wonderful place to stay full of history and class I really enjoyed my week at Hadleys Orient Hotel from the end of December to new years. A special mention to the beautiful lady who was working the breakfast buffet each morning she was very professional and very kind every time I dealt with her.

Had a fantastic two-night stay at Hadley Orient. The airport shuttle was convenient, dropping us off a short walk from the hotel. The property itself is incredibly unique and interesting, and we thoroughly enjoyed the art tour. Our room was perfect, and the location was ideal for exploring Hobart on foot. We were close to the waterfront, fantastic bakeries, and the unexpected bonus of finding Street Eats Franko in Franklin Square on a Friday night. The hotel's location also made it easy for our pickup for the 6-day Under Down Under Tour. Next time, we're definitely going to try dining at the hotel.

A grand part of Hobart history renovated into a fine modern hotel. Excellent friendly service, clean and comfortable rooms, nice onsite bar with good food, convenient location. We enjoyed two nights here and would certainly stay here again.

A lovely place with lovely , genuinely kind and helpful people working in the bar and behind the reception . Lots of historie in the hotel . Famous guests in the past , you can read all about them in the story trail . We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our stay a lot . Also good price/ Quality balance 😀

A really lovely old gem in the middle of Hobart. The room was charming and the cocktail bar was great.

I just stopped by for a drink during happy hour, because I saw the sign. It was good, cheap and some staff were very nice, especially the Chilean girl was really lovely. She kept the place warm. In happy hour, Hobart usually extends beyond one hour, they seemed very strict to finish early. I recommend to extend it. Overall I had a good time.

Hadley's is a solid hotel with cozy, historical ambience. Despite its age, the aircon shower pressure amenities bed and two sets of pillows were all top-notch. My only complaint was the shower drainage was a bit slow and the room wifi is spotty. However, the real reason I'm taking the time to write this review is because of our appreciation for the indescribably elegant reception given us by Anthony. He instilled confidence that our issues will be solved effectively and was able to make policy decisions so rare in the age of stick-to-the-book stubbornness. In our chats he was erudite and sophisticated. The definition of a true gentleman, it was a privilege to be received with such warm class in his effortless manner and one that we'll remember for a very long time. Thanks Anthony, you really made an impression. See you in Manhattan someday.

Comfortable and fascinating historic accommodation. Gracious decor with exceptionally well researched emphasis on history. Many beautiful and varied rooms to relax, eat or drink Confusing and high pricing on breakfast with mediocre breakfast buffet (suggest you get profit from room tariff and reduce breakfast price).

Wish we had stayed longer. Hadleys is an experience that you can add to the enjoyment of visiting Hobart. Anthony at the front desk was super helpful and pleasant. Next time we will stay longer to enjoy the restaurant and breakfast!

Quaint!

What a fabulously charming hotel. Anthony was a fine host and made us feel at home the moment we arrived and tended to all our needs across our stay. Very impressed! Hospitality like Anthony's is unfortunately becoming rarer to find and if he was to be nominated for a national award I would not be surprised in the slightest. Thank you Hadley's Orient and Anthony. We will return...

Absolutely stunning historic hotel. The staff at Hadley’s truly go above and beyond, even catering to my mum’s very newly diagnosed oropharyngeal dysphagia at very short notice. Mum lost the ability to swallow solids right before our girl’s trip to celebrate her birthday and the staff very kindly liaised closely with us to ensure their dinner menu could accommodate her specific dietary needs. Thank you to the wonderful kitchen and bar staff and of course to Anthony from guest services for making our stay such a positive and safe experience. In particular I recommend the cucumber ice cream as a delicious and historically significant treat!

Old world aesthetic is great and what sets it apart from every other generic modern hotel. Room was spacious and with two kids in tow had plenty of room to spread out. Bathroom was on the small side but wasn’t an issue for us. Beds were massive and very comfortable. It was quiet and with block out curtains I slept very well. Dining room, bar areas and foyer all had this old world charm For us there was nothing missing. Main complaint was that service was somewhat lacking & chaotic in bar area. Perhaps happy hour caused some increased pressure but there just seemed to be general confusion and number of patrons were getting frustrated with the wait and missed orders. Staff appeared somewhat green and/or stretched.

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff and just wonderful atmosphere with their elegant and almost opulent furnishings, art and old world charm. The one thing is that Thier leather lounge chairs need upholstering. Regardless, I loved sinking into them. Anthony is a very warm, friendly and accommodating concierge. We discovered through our stay that he is a man of many talents and achievements having risen through his time at Telstra to bring a director and now choosing to continue serving people. You'll enjoy being him. We looking forward to our next holiday with them.

Just spent 3 nights at Hadley's and loved it. The hotel is beautifully preserved and has a old worldly atmosphere. The staff are very warm and genuine. The location is perfect and is only a short stroll to the harbour, markets and restaurants. Special mention to Anthony at the front desk. Thanks for making our stay extra special mate, you really made it a memorable stay. Highly recommend staying at Hadley's.

What a beautiful old hotel . It has been kept in another era and was bith interesting and beautiful

This is not an easy review. Because I really like old and prefer worn charm to modern. This place certainly has charm! However sometimes it is a tad beyond worn charm. The bar and high tea are certainly of first class old world excellence. The toilets are plain old and lack charm. Staff is very very courteous and personable. Rooms …. I would say they are old world charm. The location is wonderful. High tea must be booked in advance. Worthy of a visit or stay - for sure!

What a beautiful hotel! Mummy, Nana and Cuddly as well as myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hadley's. You can read more about our stay there and Hobart in general on our trip moments!

Fantastic old world charms. Excellently renovated and very helpful and attentive charms

Handy location, nice rooms and great service.

Great hotel 👍

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the room was magnificent. Loved the architecture and all the old classic touches to keep this building restored. Service was very friendly and helpful with the stay and recommendations to do.

Great bar with excellent service. Nice food in the restaurant, waiting staff friendly. Great location and excellent price.

Hadleys is a classic historic traditional city hotel with very welcoming and helpful staff. Great location.

What a lovely hotel! So much character. Perfect location. Staff are lovely. Rooms are great. We loved hanging out in the bar each evening.

Fantastic place for a great weekend out . local info is available for your next holiday.have fun in Tassie

Big thank you to Kitty, Sandeep and Sami for the exceptional and friendly service. Kitty and Sandeep were so kind to my partner and I upon check in and check out. They were also very helpful with the parking instructions and tips on getting a spot. Took a big hassel off my trip to start enjoying Hobart sooner.

rooms are nice and old school, but the car parking is not so convenient. One aspect is there is a strange smell in room I don’t know where it comes from but hope the hotel can do the housekeeping strictly. All in all , it is a kind of luxury hotel. Seems that Some fancy people enjoy it.

A historic hotel with plenty of stories to tell. The art is amazing too.

Had a lovely high tea here. This building is beautiful.

We had afternoon tea of scone, jam, cream & lemon myrtle tea. The atmosphere was great in the elegant Atrium.

We were at Hadley's Hotel today, and I was highly impressed. We were there to attend family day at the art gallery. First up, our kids had so much fun doing art and contributing to the community art pond display. Next, we moved onto the art gallery, and my husband, who is blind, obviously couldn't see the art, but had come along as it was a family day. I had stepped into the room when I heard my husband talking to a staff member (he has a Guide dog and so is often having conversations with people who are curious about his dog). I believe the staff members name was Skye. I soon found out that they weren't talking about the Guide dog, and that Skye had offered to describe each art piece to my husband as he had asked if there was an app for audible description for the gallery. Skye went way out of her way to assist my husband, and for roughly the next 30 minutes, went into great detail about all the art. Skye (I really hope I have her name correct) was amazing as so many people wouldn't take the time to help. I have never stepped foot inside their hotel rooms or tried any of their food, but I will recommend friends to stay there when visiting Hobart, as to me, staff who take time to help someone like that, far outweighs anything else.

What an interesting historic experience. Timeless luxury, and nostalgic ambience. The rooms are really large with large king size beds. Friendly staff. The breakfast was really tasty. We didn’t have a chance to try the dinner at the restaurant but it was very popular. We will come back.

We are return guests - travelling from Sydney. We really love staying at Hadley's Orient Hotel as the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and make us feel right at home. Hadley's has a beautiful ambience. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious had comfortable beds (very important!) and styled in the period of the Hotel. We did not dine in-house during this stay, however, the menu looked delicious. The hotel’s location was perfect for exploring the area, with plenty of attractions and dining options nearby. We definitely left feeling relaxed and pampered—highly recommend this gem! We'll be back for another stay... Jacqueline

Horrible service, took about 30 minutes for someone to help me check in even though there was no one else in line!! Unbelievable, will not be staying again.

Date/time of visit: 12 July 2024 at 1:00pm We visited for afternoon tea only. This was a lively experience. The tea room was bright and airy with an old world charm but comfortable and relaxing. The staff were superb, lovely and and patient. They clearly explained the tea options and easily answered other questions we had. They were warm and inviting, contributing to a relaxing afternoon tea experience. There was plenty of food; so much that I didn't need to have much for my dinner in the evening. The flavours of the sandwiches, scones, quiche and sausage rolls were delicious. The flavours weren't overpowering. Some options I would not normally have gone for if I was making the choice but yhe afternoon tea allowed me to experience something new and I would have them again. The actially tea options were good. Some trusted favourites plus some more interesting and exciting options. We did go for a trusted option (i think this was English breakfast), an option that was a little more daring but still had familiarity based on the description (Salamanca Blend) and a daring option (a berry blend). We were very happy with our selections. The berry blend had definite strong berry notes. The breakfast nlend was familiar. And the Salamanca blend was soothing - it was a relaxing blend that evened out the other two options. The desserts were delicious (we though the victoria cake was a bit hard but that wasn't a real issue). The scones with cream and jam were beautiful. A wonderful afternoon tea (that was our lunch :-) ) at a great price. Very happy. Highly recommended.

What a great hotel! So much character and interest at a great price point. Was in a convenient location with no beige or greige in sight.

Happy hour from 5 to 6pm. Lovely bar, friendly staff and comfy chairs

Hi Tea was amazing Staff were very attentive a lovely afternoon

I can’t thank the staff enough for a wonderful stay here. Loved it all.

Just there for a evening meal what great value. Do yourself a flavor and check it out

Impressive Victorian Era High Tea. Had the most gorgeous high tea here. You really are transported back in time with the atmosphere of a Victorian tearoom. We had the delightful Mt Wellington/Kunanyi blend from Art of Tea, which came in a very large Noritake teapot. Exceptional value for the price, which included the best scones ever with homemade berry jam and a thick cream flavoured with vanilla bean.

A lovely historic hotel in the centre of Hobart. Great service. Cosy bar. A hotel with character. I stayed here 30 years ago and am delighted to be back.

The high Tea is to die for perfection service Chelsea your a star got to take home a sweet box we couldn't eat Fantastic service from Chelsea and Sami 5 Star place

Cozy vintage Hotel, picturesque frames at its lounge telling its story and their guests, old style furniture, the lounge and bar with the music of the period among with pieces from the hotel old times. Great staff, gentle and friendly. 24 hour front desk reception. Variety of options for breakfast. Very clean and cozy room.

I absolutely loved staying at Hadley’s on my first visit to Hobart - it won’t be my last. It’s perfectly located, within walking distance of just about everything, and very close to two Skybus stops in the city. Lots of excellent eating options within spitting distance, and the perfect base for exploring this unique destination. I was so impressed by the hotel itself too, and especially by its staff. It’s a beautiful old hotel that has been impeccably maintained, but it is an OLD hotel, so it may not look modern, especially the bathrooms. I did not see this as a fault, however, it was just part of the deal. The room was charming and spotlessly clean, and housekeeping did a great job every time. Kellie and Anthony at reception were especially charming and helpful, but the whole team presented a friendly and attentive service. I really hope to stay here again some time. It was truly an almost seamless and overwhelmingly positive experience x

Amazing old hotel which felt old and comfortable and full of history. Had a great stay with my family.

Lovely, historic hotel in a very central location. Staff were always really helpful and rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. Would definitely stay again :)

Wow. What a great stay at Hadley’s. We were in the Heritage Suite “Amundsen” and it was incredible. We cancelled our plans and just stayed in our suite… that’s how good it was. A grand old hotel in the style of the best European hotels. The cocktail bar crew did a roaring trade on Friday night and it was a welcoming cosy spot for a nightcap. From front desk, to hotel bar, to room service, every Hadley’s employee we interacted with was helpful, courteous, professional and cheerful. A perfect hotel stay for us… we really didn’t want to go home. I see a few reviews complaining about parking (Hadley’s leases spaces in a car park building a couple of hundred metres away). We had no problem with this arrangement. It worked well and we can’t blame the 1826 builders for failing to build an underground parking garage when they built the place! Probably not suited to hipsters or frequenters of black-bathroomed, avant-garde boutique hotels, but if you was classically styled heritage, with great staff, stay at Hadleys.

The Rooms are Very Authentic, reccomend for a historic visit in Hobart

The hotel itself is rich in history and the decor is what you would expect. The rooms were kept very tidy and clean, as was all areas of the hotel. My only gripe is the parking and the access to it. By the way, if you ask me (a customer) how was my stay and I give you feedback on the parking, I don't expect a lecture on how lucky I am to get parking for $5 a day. Let me be very clear here, the parking location is terrible. You have to walk down the street and around the corner of another street to find the entrance. There are 8 levels (including 4a, 5a, 6a, etc) to circumnavigate each time you enter or leave the building. It feels like a trek in it's own right and to be honest, put us off even wanting to use the car. Yes, it's $5 a day, however most, if not all hotels have their own carparks. I actually would've been happier to pay $20 a day for parking if it was more accessible. It should be more clear on your website on the parking situation. This would at least give people a choice on whether to rent a car or not. Otherwise, thank you for a lovely stay in the hotel.

Historic property situated perfectly between commercial zone and waterfront. Certainly old world experience.

Beautiful building full of history. Room was large and had everything we needed. Prime location in the centre of Hobart.

Love the ambiance. The squeaky floor boards, hearing every word of people passing by the room. I actually didn’t mind the view of a stone wall out the window. The staff although mostly friendly, do not seem well versed in high level hospitality practices. Now on to the restaurant. It was a big let down sorry, an epic fail. Waiter was very friendly but clearly not hospitality trained. White shirt was a solid shade of grey and untucked. The sirloin steak $48 extremely overpriced and not cooked correctly. When I mentioned it was not right, it was taken back to the kitchen and refried. Of course it was now “well done” and resembling leather. I couldn’t eat it. Has anyone actually successfully eaten a leather shoe? The carrots were the best part of the plate as the potatoes still had bitter eyes on the skin and were rather shrivelled. Pity there weren’t more vegetables on the plate. They went cold quickly so I suspect they were microwaved to warm them up. My partners chowder was probably a cheap tin of vegetable soup and frozen seafood mix. Not in a cob loaf. No. Just in a plain bowl with two ordinary dinner rolls. Literally a step back in time in more ways than one. So we found ourselves searching Hobart CBD 7:30 pm on a Friday night looking for a decent meal.

My friend and I had a most wonderful experience at Hadley’s high tea this afternoon, made all the more special by the outstanding service provided by our most charming hostess, Chelsea. She was just so lovely and attentive. This one’s a keeper - manager hold on to her! Everything was delectable and delicious and I would highly recommend Hadley’s high tea for its elegant ambience and old world charm. Again, a special shout out to the lovely Chelsea who made us feel extra special. 10 out of 10!!!

Went there for dinner with several friends. It was beyond bad. Had to ask several times for water, cutlery even after some of the meals arrived. Two hours from ordering until some of the meals arrived. I was completely finished before my wife's meal arrived. The food could have saved the night but it was not nice.

A fantastic heritage hotel. Staff are wonderful, service great, hotel has a lovely ‘feel’ to it. Bar is great and they know how to make a good cocktail. A small gripe - bed was too squishy. Bathroom was also tiny and the steam extraction was poor.

Great place for an after work drink. Friendly staff and great range of wines

What a great hotel!!

Great location, friendly staff, a hotel with a different feel that I have never experienced before. I highly recommen this hotel.

This historic hotel was a great choice for us. We went back-and-forth on different hotels, and we made the right choice. Yes, the rooms are a bit small, but it ticked a lot of boxes for us. Very clean and comfortable, Great bathroom, really nice storage area for your luggage and clothes, beautiful quality, toiletries, Great location to walk to the seafront. Nice happy hour in the bar. And great friendly, helpful staff.

Bedroom was a bit small, but with a bath in the bathroom to make-up for this. Tea & coffee supplied in the room, but not a single USB socket anywhere - really needs updating. The dining room for breakfast is ample size with lots of space.
