Gave them a second chance after some gross food a few years ago and let me tell you, if unflavoured watered down sauce is your go to then do I have the place for you! The food is nasty old bain marie slop that they couldn't even bother to stir up every now and again. Stay away, spend the extra $2 and get decent Indian in moonah or claremont.
I bought chicken vindaloo and butter chicken, and they were both amazing. I have bought from there once before and can't complain. I couldn't help noticing how filthy the shop is. Black build up on extraction fans, grimy walls behind counter. I hope the upkeep of the kitchen is much more impressive.
Butter chicken is watery, taste strange and weird chicken. Asked for garlic and cheese nann breads couldn't eat them as it was so disgusting, so disappointed and threw it in the bin. Waste of $75!
Great people always taste great
Making people fool .. Selling cold roti which is made in morning & Staff says it’s garlic naan not recommendable at all waste of money..
I ordered butter chicken and naan, they gave me roti and the most watery, and frankly tasteless as a result, butter chicken. I want to give them another chance, because I think it could've been tasty if it wasn't watered down so much.
Unfortunately I hate giving negative reviews and I try my hardest not too but.. this place needs to be the exception as I wish I had read the negative reviews before wasting my money. I've honestly never had worse indian food and it's a cuisine I eat often. The butter chicken literally tastes like Campbell's tomato soup. It's watery and the chicken is concerning. Naan bread is incredibly dense and not pleasant at all. The lamb in the Rogan josh is incredibly chewy but in the worst kind of way, also the flavour is just off. The chicken vindaloo was the best dish but almost indistinguishable from the Roman josh flavour. It was simply put. Not a vindaloo flavour at all. Rice was good. Atleast I can say one positive. Unfortunately the butter chicken was so bad it was disposed off. If you can avoid this place. Definitely do. Otherwise try it for yourself. Steer clear from the butter chicken. Do yourself one favour.
After getting food poisoning once from bad chicken, I gave this place another chance because their food (when safe) tasted amazing. Today I got an absolutely rotten lamb korma, the stench was unbelievable. Meat that rotten must surely have had maggots crawling through it! It stank like actual feces and rot. I took it back and was offered “anything else”…no thanks. I asked for a refund and got $20 back from a $55 order. I will never return to this place, their food safety practices must be awful.
This is my favourite Indian food. Their mild is actually mild and the butter chicken is tasty. They're always generous with servings and a nice quick takeaway option. A large gives you enough for dinner then lunch the next day.
I Ordered 2 large Chicken vindaloo online, but only received one that was cold. I Will never Be Ordering Again.
Food is delicious, better than some other Indian food places I’ve tasted, service is alright. I would order this if they were on Uber eats.
Mango Lassi was fizzy (fermented/off) Mango chicken was grossly sweet. Did not receive cheese and garlic naan - despite ordering them, and paying for them. 😟
Absolutely disgusting, if you like food poisoning then you’ll love this filthy place.
Highly recommend coming here!! The hospitality is amazing, always welcomed with a warm and friendly greeting. Not to mention the quality of the food is delicious, I absolutely love this restaurant!
The previous owners use to give you more,The NEW OWNERS give you way more rice and less meat, bet they have lost another of customers with there way over priced for what you get meals, like mango chicken, really whats it cost for bulk boned chicken legs and a BAG of RICE ???,Yea not much, you charge $1350 for a large and really its worth $$850 in what you get!! I got get my Indian at North Hobart, they give you what I call a fair meal for what they charge,SO YOU GUYS SHOULD LIFT YOUR GAME AND GIVE A DESCENT MEAL FOR WHAT YOU CHARGE,STOP BEING SO TIGHT AND WORRING HOW MUCH YOU CAN RIP OFF YOUR CUSTOMERS AND YOU WILL FIND THAT YOUR OLD CUSTOMERS WILL COME BACK IF YOUR EVER OPEN, If anybody agree please give the thumbs up,expecially old customers that have left though small serves for the price they charge !!!
i love this place, it never fails to impress me. every single time. !!! it such a good place. i love it!!
beautiful atmosphere, food, and service! this place is now my happy place <333
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!!!
highly recommend coming here to eat the service was perfect and dining was excellent i felt comfortable would definitely come here again😊
Best butter chicken in Australia, not to toot the owners horn but the food is sooo good and the owner is so sweet
Love eating here with my friends and will always tell people to come here and friendly worker. I love here
The price was low. The food is precooked and in warmers like a cafeteria. It tasted like the curtied, the naan and rice had been sitting there since morning, and we were there for diner. We had the three curry and naan deal. The food was luke warm and did not taste very nice.
Our experience has been great. Accommodating to the costumers requests. The cuisine has always been delicious. Clean and tidy. We have had delivery take away and dinner in.
Honestly just chose to just eat the rice and bread, but obviously not very much. Large pieces of hard discoloured chicken, with what looked like it still had cartilage still attached. Plus the Mango Lassi tasted off. I feel awful putting in a bad review, I hope you guys work out whatever going on with the business.
Messed up an order and refused to fix it despite paying for two meals, only received one. Poor communication
Worst Indian food in Hobart..chicken in butter chicken tasted rotten. Thin gluey naan with very very little garlic flavour lamb in rogan Josh very fatty and second grade. Waste of $60.we don't be back
This tiny, quiet little Indian shop is one of my favourites for a quick takeaway dinner. The chicken is usually always juicy and cooked beautifully and the vegetable curry are great too.
We’ve been going to Mayur on occasion for many years. Not sure if the restaurant has recently changed hands, but food was terrible and hugely overpriced when we went there this evening. Butter chicken was okay, but lamb korma was watery and not what they usually serve (was even a very washed out colour). We had both garlic nan and garlic/cheese nan and both were very dry and flavourless (we went at peak time so should have been plenty of turnover). Overall a very disappointing experience.
Pretty good tasting Indian food. Was a bit cold out of the bain marie, but was taking home to eat so reheated once home.
Food was luke warm, needed to re-heat when home- 5 mins up the road. Butter chicken was very strong tomato flavour and watery. Garlic naan was very thin and almost raw. Very gluey, I hadto put it in the air fryer to cook it. Will not be back!
This is usually our favourite place but tonight we paid $51 for a half full plate of half rice and butter chicken each and one nan bread. The plate had 4 pieces of chicken each and was classed as “large” it was so dry to swallow and had zero taste. Very dissatisfied with tonight!! We won’t be going back.
It's a nice place to have Indian taste!!
This is not Indian Food.... We ordered 2 curries, no rice and got 2 curries with rice shoved in 1 small container. Not only that but we ordered garlic 'naan' which had absolutely no garlic taste to it and was completely dripping in oil. The curries had no flavour and were very mushy. Do not recommend
Worst experience ever with any Indian restaurants. Ordered food online but they have sent the wrong order, didn't even bother to pick the call or to give a call at least to know the customer what they are sending. Food taste was terrible too. Ordered Garlic naans but they sent chapatis/rotis instead, also mixed rice (which wasn't even a part of order) with the chicken gravy in a same container! Seriously?? If you really want to compliment rice with the order, then can't you even afford extra container? Eventually had to order from somewhere else for dinner. **** Totally waste of time, waste of money. Better to grab a wrap from somewhere else rather than wasting money here.
Ordered online delivery - meal deal with 2 curries with rice. Was delivered and all food was mixed in one container. Didn't say anything about all being mixed together on website. When we called the shoo we were told pretty much tough luck and didn't have any solutions and didn't want to help. Not what we ordered - should be clear on website and terrible customer service. Will not be returning.
It is a good place I very much enjoyed it will always go back
If I could leave a less than 1 star review I would... My husband and I ordered a 2x 650g meal deal of chicken tikka masala (650g) and lamb rogan josh (650g) along with some naan and samosa's. We recieved less than 650g combined of the tikka and rogan josh ontop of rice, in the one container- we didn't even order rice!! We called the restaurant and they offered to fix for us if we could pick up, when we had ordered and got the original lack of a meal for 2 delivered... totally unacceptable! Rubbish service. Would not advise anyone to order from here!
Worst place, don’t recommend anyone
Worst butter chicken I have tried. So sweet but also no flavour. Nann is bland and even the rice is bad. Won't be ordering again. Waste of money.
Nepalese and Indian. Vegetarian options were there and rate bit high & seating & take away
Lovely staff but possibly the worst Indian food in tas.
Butter chicken is extremely sweet, like I would not call it savoury. Tried many butter chickens and this is sweetest ever, how much sugar did they add? Same with drinks. Smells nice and staff are nice but there are better indians
By far the worst Indian food I have ever eaten both in terms of taste & quantity. I had ordered dal and egg plant curry which tasted so sweet felt as if I having dessert. This isn't authentic Indian food. Never going back again.
The photos didn’t give me much hope in this being a good curry and they were not wrong. The nann bread was like cardboard and the meat in the curry was awful. Definitely not ordering again.
Today, I had bad experience with their service. At the counter she doesn’t have minimum respect to customers. I never to go to Mayur restaurant again. She should respect customers
We often purchase meals from here. Have never had a bad meal. Always have friendly staff greeting you with a variety of food choices! Definitely would recommend!
Butter chicken smells like tea bag and naan is not cooked as well. Very bad experience, I won’t be having anything from here.
Yummy vegetarian meals. Lovely service.
So poor quality food. Ordered thali and at last a mango lassi. Had two types of meat which was giving bad smell. In mango lassi, they probably used rotten mangos- it was so dull. Really disappointed!!
Good traditional Indian takeaway meals, with good, quick service at reasonable prices.
Friendly service. Reasonably priced. Possibly the worst naan in the history of Indian restaurants. Thin, doughy and bland. Nothing like the naan you expect from an Indian restaurant. The veggie roll was nice but very oily and barely warm.
Best Indian take away in Hobart for price and taste. Would recommend to all. There is eat in options if you really want to sit down in store to eat but is essentially a take away service.
Excellent food and very friendly staff.
Yum. Good food.
Fast friendly service, good price. I had mild mango chicken and lamb Korma. I don’t eat Indian much as I’m only one in family that likes it, but ‘Damn’ it was good.
I really like this restaurant when ever I eat here the food is really good.
Very nice.
I am not sure how they make the butter chicken but it was sweet as sugar... it has been added way much of sugar, or ketchup. Please review the recipe, it is decently not how it should taste like.
They served papdums from a container on the floor.
Great value and delicious
What happened to the few papadums included with your purchase???? You owe me a few. Tell that young girl at the counter to include them.
Good
Offers wide range of Indian cuisine. Nan bread ok, but every time I went there and wanted garlic cheese naan had to wait about 10 mins so they could cook one.
Friendly service, good prices, awful food. Buttered Chicken was truly awful, flavourless, poorly cooked cheap chicken, and the sauce tasted like some sort of cheap home brand buttered chicken equivalent. The naan bread was ok at best, but not good, and was more like a naan pancake.
Delicious food, Great service
Good ambience and food
Delicious and affordable!
Actually good for what it is and cheap.
It's not somewhere you go for fine dining, but it's alright if you just want some quick and cheap takeaway. Probably not the best of it's kind but it's good to have it here as an option for fast food in Glenorchy.
Found hair in the curry, response was so unprofessional... wont recommend to anybody. Food wasnot good in taste either.
Couldnt finish the meal ... you know what I mean Very formal place with alot of cleaning required
1. butter and chicken is sweet 2. No Biryani in menu 3. No table service for dine in 4. Flat faced staff with no welcome, no smile and no thankyou 5. Spoons and forks are fairly dirty(wasnt washed properly) 6. Front door has splashes on it 7. Food display unit has moisture Highly unrecommended until they upgrade themselves, if any food inspector is reading this please give them a visit.
A good variety of authentic Indian food that is ready to go or eat in on a few tables which we chose to do. The baine marie isn't hot enough so the food is lukewarm and the tables, windows etc need a good clean up and there are flies to contend with. No clean cutlery except for some grotty plastic forks .
Fairly good food. Tried it 3-4 times because I work in the area. The girls need to know how to smile specially the younger one. She makes the other person feel uncomfortable by putting on an poker face everytime. I attempted to have the happiest face all these times I ordered but still could not bring smile on her face. 4 stars for food and 2 for service.
Usually very good food though service can be hit and miss
Good little take away place. Prices are very reasonable for the quality.
