Hard to recommend, slow service over 1 hour 15 minutes to get meal,, Had a steak that was tough as, was supposed to be porterhouse, but definitely 👎

Very nice and relaxing place to stay with amazing views over the city and surrounds. Also, staff are on hand to help you with your daily activities and advise on the best deals available 😀

Fantastic food, great prices, and the staff were great. I love how staff came up to check how our meals were going and if we needed anything. It shows that they care about their service, instead of just getting the meal out and then not following up. Shout out to the bartender who, when I couldn't decide what drinks I wanted, was happy to surprise me and had very good choices. Will certainly visit Maypole again.

We had a function with around 30 people and the Maypole was a fantastic venue. The function room was thoughtfully organised for us. The staff were cheerful and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The kitchen did a fantastic job managing the meals for such a big group. Everyone agreed the food was good. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks very much Kristie for hosting a great night.

Had a lovely meal with my family this evening, service was friendly and warm and the ambiance reflects this, meals were excellent and well cooked, prices are very reasonable also. Felt like a chicken schnitzel so decided to try here and see what theirs was like. Met with friendly enough staff but seemed to be busy as we had to wait a little to get to our table. I was pleased to find that our table was clean and not sticky (like a couple of hotel/pubs I've come across lately). I ordered the schnitzel with mushroom sauce and a pint of lager which came to about $36. We seemed to wait a long time for our food to get to us but as I said earlier they were rather busy so to be expected. The meal was rather tasty and a good portion, the only odd thing was the salad had no sort of dressing on it (didn't take away from the overall experience). If you're thinking of coming here book ahead as it did get very busy and filled rather quickly.

Visited Dan Murphy’s, which is the bottle shop part of the Maypole Hotel. Excellent service (as usual) and also has a ‘click and collect’ facility which I class as a cut above. Your order is ready for collection very quickly.

Great meal and awesome service good value for money

Had a very enjoyable dinner on Friday evening. There were 6 in our party and all were happy with their meal. The pub has a good easy relaxed feel and live entertainment. Well done.

I requested a porterhouse steak cooked to medium rare, but it was served well done which made it unbearable to eat. The accompanying chips and gravy were average, resembling from a standard local fish and chip shop. The utensils I was given were also sticky and unclean, which was even more disappointing. On the bright side, one of the female bartenders stood out for her friendly and chatty demeanor, which was awesome. Overall, this establishment isn't as good as it used to be. Unfortunate to say.

Under new management now, a different atmosphere . The hours are extended during the week and it's now open on Sunday from noon to 5pm.

Very pleasant and quaint 1800's hotel. Very friendly staff and surprisingly very affordable priced eats and generous servings too. A great atmosphere with live music (1 man solo act) on Friday nights.

The Maypole is at the heart of Hobart culture. Everyone has a story or a memory. The current owners pay homage to history by offering a classic pub menu and a welcoming friendly atmosphere. A great night out.

Fabulous service. Esther and Justin couldn't be more professional and friendly if they trued. Very busy night but nothing was too much trouble for them. Definitely will be back.

Attended this venue last night for dinner with my partner and our children. Very average service and the steak which two of us ordered ‘medium rare’ came ‘well done’ considering it’s $35 for rump steak I expect it cooked to order. The male manager was very arrogant, just waved the eftpos machine in your face without even telling you how much the purchase is, or what amount you are tapping for, or even showing you what he has keyed in. I would never come back to this venue. I’m all for a nice pub meal, but would rather eat at Pizza Hut then this place again. Lol

We used the function room for our workplace fun night. Mr Devine was so accommodating, friendly and assisted us with what we wanted. Great platters, pizza and finger food from the kitchen was included in the hire of the room. Staff where so friendly and helpful. We had a terrific night, thank you.

Had a feed here the other night. Bar staff were very friendly and food was average pub grub. The thing that stood out was the rudeness of the manager. He was a bully to women in our group. This guy needs to have a long hard look at his antics. The only recommendation I could give is to give it a miss
