The repair service here is expensive, and they misdiagnosed the issue. It was just a faulty RAM stick, but they told me to replace the entire motherboard. The staff were friendly, though. I had it checked at a shop in Sydney for free, but here they charged me $160 AUD.

The service I received from Principal Computers was outstanding. The technical support person Darren could not have been more helpful. He was courteous, friendly and very good to work with - by his persistence and problem solving approach, he was able to fix an important issue for me.

Principal Computer were amazing. I came in with a PC that I had brought from another company that was faulting completely and had gotten no help from. I was served by a young bloke who was more help than I received from anyone at the original business on the mainland. The issues were fixed straight away, some of the best custom service I have ever received. Will definitely recommend this business to anyone and everyone!

Contacted Principal Computers with a slightly unusual/different request for a computer. I spoke with James and he was very understanding and respectful of the situation and what was required. Even after the initial planning and building some changes had to be made and they were very accommodating in doing this. I've dealt with Principal Computers for the last 20+ years. I've always found prices to be competitive on quality products and I can rely on their technical and product advice. Most importantly, even though I've become reasonably tech savvy of necessity, I know they'll go the extra yard to get me out of a problem on my office computers when I'm stumped, and frantically attempting to get my business back up and running. Try getting that sort of service from others who have sketchy technical expertise, and whose sole mission seems to be to achieve the highest $$ monthly salesman trophies. I wish I could give 0 stars. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPAY! MY ITEM NEVER ARRIVED! I made an order online and one of the items was missing. The packaging came in a dodgy taped up motherboard box with poor overall packaging. When I tried to resolve the issue with principal computers, they were difficult to get a hold of and the person (named Josiah) made excuses not to speak with me when I called. Whenever I sent an email trying to solve the issue, I would receive replies that ignored most of the questions I had in the email. Towards the very end of my dealings with them, Josiah would ignore my email and I would get an update only if I called. Its been 3 weeks and I have not received anything. I believe the owner does not know the workers are doing this. They should be on check and re-evaluate his business. Finally they absolutely refused to take any responsibility for anything and there isn't much I can do about it

i used to come to these guys back when they has two desks and a single isle down the middle of the shop, now they have expanded and are still the best pc shop in Tasmania, iv been to them all, sad but true. recently had my gaming rig tested for bad hardware, got the part sorted for more than a fair price as well as they went over and beyond and even sorted out my incredibly bad cable management, its so good to see them prosper with there newest shop, and amazing to see them grow into the size they have,i cant recommend these guys/girls enough!!!!!!!!! p.s sorry for the weight of my case :P

Principal Computers is definitely the best IT & computer store in Hobart. Despite being a small business, they offer very competitive pricing. They also have awesome staff who know what they are doing and are happy to go out of their way to ensure that you get what you need. I recently ordered a gaming PC from this business. It arrived late, and I wasn't contacted about a delay but was given a headset to compensate my wait time. I was happy with that. The PC arrived fully built, I plugged it in, and it didn't respond to being turned on. No fans moving, nothing at all. It was picked up on a Monday and sent back for repairs. I was told that the power unit had broken in transit, and they had fixed and checked to ensure that the PC worked. i spoke with Tim the manager, he was so arrogant and not even willing to assist in any way! It was sent back to me, I plugged it in, and tried to turn it on - and it didn't work. Again. I asked for a full refund but got the boot, and won't be touching this business again. I'll advise my friends of the same.

spilled coffe on my laptop. It doesn't turn on. brought it at 3pm. collected it next morning at 9:30am it was fixed and became clean. was a really dirty laptop paid 270$. seriously think it could have been more considering how dirty it was. The process was quick, and importantly again, it was fixed. Otherwise I have to buy a new one. extremely happy, and will definitely come back if I have any problem with my device.

I had endless glitches and storage issues with my laptop. Others had not resolved the issue previously. Not only did principal comp fix my computer its the first time its truly worked efficiently. Very happy

I voiced my concerns to one of the workers there and he was awesome. I was worried the heatsink I wanted to purchase wouldn't fit into my micro build which it didn't it and they let me return it without a boxing fee and the refund went straight back onto my card, which is unheard of. I highly recommend these guys.

Got a CPU cooler but unfortunately the screws came damaged and weren't able to be unscrewed. Brought it in, they took a look at it and were able to remove the damaged screws. When they gave back, they handed me replacement screws at no extra cost. Great customer service, they'll help you out with any issue.

Great selection of quality desktop components and laptops. I brought my desktop with a suspected faulty SSD to the team. I was served by CS who, not only turned my cooler the right way around haha, made me feel well looked after throughout the process. Their communication level was refreshingly high and were keen to avoid any unnecessary cost blowouts. They found the issue and handed my computer back to me within a matter of days. Great stuff, the process was just simple and easy!

Great staff and service. Our PC stopped playing game cameras and drone footage, I thought or PC was about 6 years old and in need of a new video card. It turned out to be a dinosaur with an 11 year old mother board not capable of reading 4K video which the guys diagnosed straight away. So James walked us around the shop explaining and picking out new hardware that suited our needs. No attempt to up sell to the most expensive, the opposite actually which was great. Dave rang us the next day to tell us it was ready to rock. So if you need a new PC don't buy off the shelf, go see these guys and girls and have a custom computer built for less.

They looked at my computer, where I stated very clearly that the issue was in the cooling. They sent it back to me saying nothing was wrong, and it broke two weeks later. Completely useless.

I tried to buy a new RAM for my laptop to have faster gaming speed. I actually had no idea which size and brand of RAM I should buy. They explained each RAM they have in a very friendly and patient way. I am quite happy with the experience.

Reasonable prices, friendly and understanding staff, and the four-legged floor-manager clearly keeps them all in line. Absolute best place to get computer parts in the whole city. Staff is helpful, efficient, and understanding. Recently rebuilt my PC, and when I was having trouble handed it over to them for further repairs. When asked to bump my case up to urgent due to needing the computer back ASAP, they obliged and within an hour of asking got a ticket saying that my computer was being worked on.

Big successful software upgrade today as I got rid of Outlook 2007 and James migrated all my files and data to Office 365.
