That’s service is very poor and lazy They don’t care about customers 5 guys working on bar , almost empty pub and nobody serving. Dirty glasses . Wasn’t like that last year .

This is a nicely setup pub. The staff was friendly and service was quick. Most of the food was nice enough, however the ribs were horrible. Unfortunately this soured the experience for me.

Had a stop over in Botany over night at my nieces place. We thought we would give this pub a go for dinner 🥘 before heading to Fiji next day. I would definitely recommend going here for a feed as my steak was nice and tender and the Carton old was great to was it down. I would definitely recommend going there for dinner. To the chef keep up cooking delicious steaks and great food. To the staff keep up the good work especially when it comes to friendliness it go a long way.

Pokies room is huge and their outdoor area is large and busy most nights. pretty friendly crowd supports all dkrgs. Feels like how pubs used to be.

My partner, myself n daughter dined there on saturday night 28th sept, the pub was buzzing with people of all ages, service was terrific n food amazing & would highly recommemd this pub to anyone.

Really hope that I can convince anyone to come at least one time. Seriously for all ages. Without a doubted no one will hesitate in making it becoming a regular place to go.

Great lunch yesterday

Thought I’d give this place another go as I live local and am craving a good pub meal, but it’s sadly still below average. Schnitzels are tiny, staff don’t seem to know what they’re doing, no salt and pepper on the tables, and the waitress said they have no mustard? For a pub? What the? Thought this place may have improved with the new ownership but nah… focus on the basics guys

We stop in at the Banks a lot. We eat there regularly off their pub menu and the food is always good, the atmosphere is nice with a mixed crowd hence the 4 stars. However, we seek out a good Sunday Roast most weekends so we stopped in the Banks to try their Roast and we were very underwelmed. The pork came in two great big thick slabs with excessive jelly fat under the crackling and it was quite dry (we all left meat on our plates), the Yorkshire was a tiny offering which was probably from a frozen packet. What was good was the pumpkin and the potato's. The Brussels were a bit under cooked and were not very warm. No condiments were offered (apple sauce or mustards). The whole dish felt a little uncared for compared to other pubs drawing in Sunday customers with their great roasts in the Eastern suburbs who, serve big puffy yourshire puddings, condiments and carefully sliced meats. Verdict: We love the Banks, didn't love the Roast!

Was at sir Joseph banks for night 1 of origin and there was an altercation that happened between two men who threw punches at each other and caused a major scene in the beer garden scaring myself and many of the other patrons. Security and staff were no where to be seen and it was up to brave patrons to pull them apart. When the security and staff finally came out to the beer garden they were smiling and laughing with both parties involved in the fight and didn’t take anything further. Myself and other patrons went a spoke to security and the manager and asked what they were doing about the matter as both parties were allowed to stay in the venue and continue to drink alcohol, which is extremely irresponsible. Once the origin game finished, one of the parties left and the other one followed him outside and the fight re started with one of the men being punched to the ground and blood pouring out of his face and the other having fled the scene. The management was terrible and the security was dismal, we ususally frequent this venue but we will not be returning.

Had finger food there for a wake. Slow service, no variety and not much food. We wound up ordering from the menu for ourselves. Would not go back

Great place for catching up with friends.

We eat at the banks quiet regularly , the food is always amazing and it’s a relaxed and enjoyable venue to dine in. Today when we came in, it was nice to see the venue filled with a decent amount of people. My partner went up to the bar to order a beer and a cocktail to be told by the stressed looking barmaid that it’s too busy for cocktails and to come back later, so I went up to another barmaid who was more then happy to make it. I suggest that maybe cocktails be taken off the menu if you are unable to provide them, or better training for staff to deal with busier nights.

Lovely facade, very robust (plus). Bartender was punctual, smiley and attentive to discussing the menu with us, we had many curiosities pertaining to the lunch menu (famished). Unfortunately the tax receipt system was not compatible with our needs (deduct 1 star) which was a little sad on an otherwise charming visit. Unfortunately no Christian paraphernalia on premises, uncertain this is a god honouring establishment (deduct 1 star) However will be back for a slap on knock off. God willing

Rude, incompetent bar staff. Filipino staff member can't speak English nor understand it Staff do not know how to operate their Till/POS. Not cheap either-$10 for a schooner. Pizza was okay.

We are local but have avoided this pub because the food has been so bad. We have dreamed about walking to a place where we can enjoy a well cooked steak. We heard they had a new chef so decided to give it a go and I have to say we loved it!! My bench mark is always the rump steak and the one I had tonight was faultless. Please keep it up!

Edited review: Everything is still the same in regard to a good pub and great staff. The main update is the NEW chef is 10 times better than the last one. Thank god! Working my way through the new menu and it’s been great. Old review: As a venue, awesome. As a pub awesome. Staff are great it’s my local and it’s been my local for 17 years. But mate, the food for the last year has been hit and miss weekly. Only reason I come back is because of the bar staff and locals. Besides that I’d rather cook at home or eat at the Waterworks. The most inconsistent food in Sydney.

The beer is ok, bar service is ok, but the food is hit & miss! I have eaten here twice now,, and the food has been to a completely different standard each occasion. I would say that it was average to good last time, but this time it is sub standard. Salad should be fresh, not wilted and stale from being in the refrigerator, prepared days in advance. The slice of lemon with my calamari was also dehydrated from the fridge also. The calamari itself, was barely acceptable and I was wondering if it was left over from yesterday also. Sorry SJB Hotel, just a little disappointed this time. If you want great reviews, then serve great food.

Completey understaffed for the festive season and food is more than underwhelming. I do not recommend coming here if you intend on eating without an hour's wait.

FERAL PUB - no stars||After getting our meals, a greasy/oily shnitzel and a medium-rare stead that arrive well done a patron sitting close by started to talk loudly to the wait staff about our pure bred Corgi (Of all things) being a FXXXXing experiment. She said who is so cruel to do that to a dog. The staff let that slide. ||Patron continued so we told her to shut up(We just wanted to eat a meal). ||She continued to interact with us, and after telling her to keep quiet many times we got up to leave half way through our meal.||As we left she continued to yell abuse across the restaurant at us. || Eventually abusing me and my partner, of ten years, for being fXXXXing faggots. ||Eventually security spoke to her.||Horrible experience, hence the no star rating, would never step foot back inside the SIR JOSEPH BANKS HOTEL

Had a great Angus meat burger fir lunch today.

This is a fantastic venue. We used this venue for a baby shower and it was perfect. The staff who looked after us on the day went above and beyond to accommodate any requests

Went to have lunch and a drink. Service and pub nice. Drinks fine. The food very disappointing. I ordered the barramundi and it was so so small and the purée was like water with no flavour at all.

Talked to a patron or two and both felt ripped off that jugs weren't 15$ when a women's NRL GAME was on. If young henry's or whoever is in charge of the deal can speak on this issue happy to remove this comment as long as they post a reason or remove the exclusivity against a women's NRL game. Bar & kitchen staff were awesome.

Grabbed a very pleasant meal with a glass of beer. Easy meal very nice.

Always enjoyed a drink & meal @ TSJB’s pub - still great service, very friendly, but …. the quality of food has fallen off a cliff 🥲 Very ordinary standard, what a shame. Not likely to go back until they pick up the form. the menu on offer was fine, but lacking quality. That said, used to love their crumbed lamb cutlets - no longer offered, again what a shame.

Went for the Sunday roast here and it was awesome. Great value for money. The chef gave us a complimentary garlic and herb bread which was to die for!
