Worth while attending for the view alone. Need to book during sunset for the ultimate experience. Set 3 course menu was good value, sadly not available for vegetarians, and those options are rather slim. Would recommend the Tassie floral for a cocktail choice. Table service was pleasant and entertaining with open stove flame cooking. Decor is in need of an update in keeping relevant, overall a recommended experience. Food is delicious with good flavour, complimentary chocolate was a nice touch.
Best dining experience ever in Tasmania. If you don't go here, you're an idiot.
We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we stepped out of the lift. We had an amazing evening here and would highly recommend a night here to anyone. The food and the drinks were amazing, I could honestly not fault either. But I think the highlight was the staff, they couldn't do enough to make sure my partner who was there celebrating her birthday had an amazing night. All we can really say is thankyou so much for having us 😊
After years of fabulous food our last visit was very disappointing. Turns out the menu had changed and
We had a booking and arrived there on time but waited for more than 40mins to be seated. The food was quite good
What a wonderful experience we had at The Point last night. Having not been to this iconic restaurant for some years we were absolutely delighted with the exceptional service and beautifully presented dishes. We were so grateful for the care and attention offered by Justin, who was able to reassure my wife who is a coeliac, that almost every dish could be prepared by the excellent chef and kitchen staff to accommodate her gluten intolerance! The wine menu was well priced and extensive with some excellent Australian wines available. Justin was always there to look after us during the two and a half hours that we stayed to enjoy the beautiful views, and the ambiance offered in this lovely restaurant. Justin made excellent suggestions on what might suit our tastes. We chose three excellent offerings from the set menu, which were priced well at $105. I had the lobster souffle, whilst Elizabeth had the heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella cheese as an entree. The short rib and lamb mains were outstanding with the excellent peach dessert so beautifully presented completing one of the nicest meals we have had for some time. Having such excellent staff as Justin and his colleagues looking after us during our meal and the highly gifted and professional team in the kitchen will encourage us to return to this wonderful restaurant again soon. A perfect night in a perfect setting with views of the Derwent River, Mount Wellington, and the surrounding suburbs of Hobart to entertain us during our meal.
I make a point of going here each time i'm back in Hobart. Great view and some of the best food around. Always fresh, and often treated with a few little extras.
This restaurant should be included in the training experience for all front-of-house trainees! The service is impeccable. The food is great, especially the lobster souffle and the crepes Suzette. A lovely experience if you're visiting Hobart (the views are literally 360°!) or if you're a local looking for a venue for a special occasion. Still great after many years of operation.
Went here a few weeks ago for an anniversary, the food was amazing but the service was almost as slow as the restaurant spinning.
Great views, great service and loved the food! Thank you to the lovely and attentive wait staff and cooks working there
Everything was just amazing 🤩. Can’t fault anything really. Food was amazing, rich in flavor, and delicious. Very good quality. We had the 3 course set menu. Me and my husband are good eaters, so that, we were a bit worried that the food wouldn't be enough for us because the pictures of the dishes looked small. BUT NO! It was more than enough. We were so full after our 3 courses. The staff were very friendly, and the sevice was excellent. We had two complementary dishes (a starter and a mini dessert) and it was a nice surprise. Overall, a very pleasant experience and worth the money.
Food was good Service was lacking compared to my last visit, 2.5hrs without a desert is too long for us, only 1 drink too, never got asked for another drink after I said I'd like one later. Ended up getting up because the bill took too long to come. Atmosphere isn't their fault they had a big group and they were noisy and painful
Customer services was really good! Everyone was really attentive, food fantastic as always! Everytime I came back here i just know in walking into an amazing date night experience!
We were a group of seven. We had the $99 set menu. Everyone agreed it was 10/10. Can totally recommend.
Was such a great experience. Everything was SO good. Service was great, friendly staff. The food was delicious, so yummy. Highly recommend!
Stunning views and spectacular food.
The service was amazing, the food was so flavourful, an amazing dinner for me. Inder was taking care of me and paid attention to every details, the drinks the bartender made were amazing as well. Thank you.
Brilliant food - the staff were amazing kind and friendly, it was a late decision to dine at The Point, the restaurant team were able to accommodate us, ordered the mushroom risotto and the crayfish. Both were amazing
The view is amazing, the meals unfortunately were substandard. My entree was stone cold and my mains which was supposed to be a Risotto was luke warm, very watery and tasteless. I had two other guests and neither of them was impressed with the meals either. The view was amazing, the service was disinterested. Very disappointing!!
Fantastic place to go for a special occasion, great views, food, service. Highly recommended indeed.
Conceptual revolving restaurant. Great views and nice staff. Special mention to staff Nikhil which went to help us with our dietary requirements. There is an EV charging point at the parking lot which is a plus point...
Great food great service great view
Once again my wife and I had a most enjoyable evening last night. Everything was exceptional. The food was exquisite and all the staff who looked after us were outstanding and a credit to you. It was my Birthday and the Happy Birthday chocolate at the end was wonderful, not the embarrassment where Staff sing at your table. Thank you. We look forward to returning. Robert W Pratt
Thank you Nikhil and Kristy for your exceptional service you provided during our visit. Your attentiveness and warm demeanor truly made our evening special. We appreciate your efforts in ensuring we had a wonderful dining experience. Thank you for going above and beyond to make sure our kids were enjoying :) @ Kitchen and Bar Team, The food was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were perfect. Thank you for making our evening so memorable. Would love to visit again soon…
We are not used to fine dining at all but we're blown away with this meal! Staff were very friendly and welcoming too! Good job team!
We stayed overnight and dined at the restaurant. The food was amazing and plentiful. The atmosphere is up market yet still cosy. The staff could not be praised enough, absolutely spot on friendly and professional. I could not recommend this restaurant enough. It is a must to dine here when in Hobart.
My first day in Tasmania, we went to have dinner at Point Revolving restaurant. I had a an amazing experience. Staff catered to our dietary requirements and what do I say about the food? It was really nice. Will definitely recommend to all my friends.
My wife and myself went to The Point last night for dinner, Olive was our section waiter and she put the icing on top of what ended up an extremely enjoyable night. All the staff were wonderful and very attentative to our needs, working as a team, ensuring we did have a good night, right from when we hopped out of the elevator. The atmosphere was superb and the view from that height of the city, the bridge and beyond, is a view I wish everyone could observe at some stage in thier lives. The food was beautifully cooked and presented, with ample servings on each plate, and my wife and I couldn't help sampling from each others selection. Dessert topped off our meal wonderfully, with hardly any room to fit it in. A big thankyou to the Chef, along with his team and all the staff for making our night one we won't forget, until the next time we are visiting Hobart.
The manager Nikhil was amazing and his service!!
Amazing experience and service. Staff was super friendly. The ambience was amazing. They catered to our vegan and lactose free friends. Highly recommend. Don't miss out on desert.
We always love coming here to dine. Service is always friendly and professional. All our courses were excellent except the main. I had the steak which was good but not outstanding like the rest of the meal.
We visited the restaurant on our anniversary and loved the ambience of the place. The staff is really nice and welcoming. Food was delicious!
The waitstaff here is so sweet, very kind and personable. Highlight of the night. I only added 3 stars because of wait time. I would not recommend this place if you have a larger party, I recognise that it may have been busy that night, but we arrived at 6 with a party of 11 (booked I think a month in advance so plenty of warning), we were told we should be out by 8, we received out main courses (half the party's people's only order) at 8:30, and were out by 10:30 (dessert came at 9:40). All desserts were lovely, everyone agreed so. There was also a consensus that the savoury dishes were near inedible. Plates were cleared solely because of the price tags attached. The sauces especially, all foods were intensely savoury and salty. Two of the three lamb dishes came out undercooked and the sauces especially on the lobster soufflé and green vegetables in oyster sauce were inedible (all dishes were covered in large amounts of them). We made a game of tasting each others sauces and laughing at how bad they were. The kingfish sashimi was nice, luckily ponzu comes straight out of a bottle so its hard to mess up. I'm quite surprised they made it to our tables in that condition. I see a lot of good reviews, maybe we caught it on an off night, but if you want to experience the novelty of a revolving restaurant maybe try an afternoon tea. Once again highlighting that the waitstaff was lovely. I think the kitchen staff was swamped, too many people booked for one night. This seems like an issue that overheads should take into consideration and I don't blame the kitchen for wait times. Also, please make them taste the sauces before sending them out.
After being seated and water offered which contained a fly.. not nice ! We ordered 2 drinks which never showed up ( that's OK) noticed guests arrive 30mins later to be served entrees, while waiting 45mins later to be served. We then waited a further 1.5hrs for mains which got served cold .. management was notified and complementary drinks offered . But by then I was fuming.. I paid $350 for the worst service. It was our first time here( wife, daughter &i) which was very disappointing as we dine out once a month! I did read comments prior to attending this place and recommendations looked good . Just a bad experience.
Haven't been to such a restaurant for ages! Simply superb! 5*****
While we couldnt complain about the Food and Atmosphere, the main factors that contribute to a good experience is the customer service by the staff. We appreciate the good service that we received on 2nd April thanks to Inderpreet and Christie. (Please excuse me if I have mis-spelt the names).
Best place for celebrating social occasions
Brilliant. Excellent service, venue and food. Highest recommendation.
The view of Hobart and the river is always great. The food was generally quite nice but not outstanding on this occassion. Table service was a bit slow and the attention to detail not the same as on previous visits.
Enjoyed dinner with the family there 😋 😊. Nice view
The food was very underwhelming for a fine dining restaurant, the Pork belly was basically pulled pork with this bit off crackling pulled out of a packet of pork crackling from your local bottle shop very disappointed the Duck was very tough and the Mushroom risotto was like a small serving of a cheese risotto with a heap of field mushrooms on the side not even mixed in with the risotto. But the Service was excellent pity the food wasn't the same
Overall is a positive experience as food and atmosphere. Have the chance to watch Hobart harbour from the top is really nice. The staff is very professional and welcoming. The time to be served was absurd, as 1 of us had the three course meal and the others just a main. We waited 1 and 1/2 hour to be served with the main and over 1 hour between entrees and main. Personally is not acceptable and the place was not even busy. Lamb perfectly cooked and served as well as short rib, delicious, tender and perfectly plated. Disappointed about the fish, the taste was good but was completely anonymous on a white plate with very minimal effort, just swap and served on a dark plate to show the colour of the sauce and achieve a better result.
Thank you for making a Special Birthday, even more Special. Old fashioned unobtrusive service, wonderful food and vibe. Couldn't have asked for a better night!
We dined here 7 years ago and it was absolutely beautiful. So for our 30year anniversary we decided to indulge again last Wednesday. The food wasn’t too bad but to classify this place as silver service is a bit far fetched. We sat with dirty dishes in front of us for an hour… I actually started stacking the dishes so staff would get the hint. We waited 45 minutes to order our drinks and that’s only because we called them over. It kept happening thru the night. The table behind us were not happy with the service either. I was really disappointed
Average from start to finish. Expected more for the price.
We had a lovely time, the food was good, Sam the assistant manager was great. We just thought the flambe prawns was too over priced for what we got in compared to all the other food. But overall a great experience.
Five stars are absolutely nowhere near enough!!! I treated my mum for a 50th birthday dinner with my family one evening and the ambience, food, wait staff etc were the best I’ve ever experienced! I’ll definitely visit again! Here are 5 Andromeda Galaxies🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌
Five stars! Steak cooked at the table, dry ice special dessert, speculator rotating views and staff that go the extra mile!
We have dined at The Revolving Restaurant over the years. It seems that recently the staff have lost sight of basic table service. The food came out at different times, hence our food was chilling whilst waiting for the sides. Clearing of the table was terrible. Oysters were served without side plates or forks. Cutlery & dishes left behind after courses completed. Reaching over me to serve the person beside me. Both our table (of 4) and the table behind us waited for 20 minutes each, for drinks after ordering them - which we had to ask for, they weren’t offered … We didn’t stay for desert as we were extremely disappointed in the experience. The Restaurant prides itself on the “silver service” it provides…. Unfortunately, I don’t feel they have that right any more. I have received better service at other hotel chain restaurants. I will say the food was lovely - but the food is only half of the experience.
I could not fault the lobster souffle or market fish of the day being blue eye ,both dishes delicious, my dining partner did not enjoy her pork entre or duck main as much , the views and service made up for any disappointment
Waited a full circle for our mains only for them to all come out at separate time and the sides for the steak Dianne arrived 15 minutes after the had finished there meal absolutely disappointing and I jade to bring to there attention that they had finished there meals w as for a birthday the atmosphere was sullen and uninviting terrible experience
If we could give 10 stars we would, we cannot fault anything! We were in Hobart for two nights and chose to have dinner here on both nights.
Wonderful meal, beautiful meal. Great restaurant for a celebratory night out! Loved the Steak Diane.
Great views great food great service
Great views, food, and service
Quite disappointed with the New Year’s Eve dinner experience I had last night. First I had to wait like 20min for them to unlock the lift to be able to get upstairs. Food was alright, nothing spectacular, it did took some time between dishes all night. Staff very nice, they did a great job. 2 couples of drunk people in both sides of my table blowing the party blowers on my ear. When booking I was told there was a party included, but the party was really a musician playing rather old style music in front of the elevator. We preferred to skip the last meal and champagne glass and go to spend new year at the street looking at the fireworks. It would be such a cool place if it was properly redecorated, but instead it got stuck in the past. Curtains need a wash.
The environment is nice and cozy with stunning views. The dinner is good, the lobster soufflé is so tasty, and the soup is very rich. The rib eye is slow cooked and it is so tender and soft. The Christmas pudding is yummy without overly sweetened. The chocolate with dry ice is so ig able! And the chocolate is creamy and smooth . Overall we had a good time, thank you.
Was recommended to visit and made a booking at 8:30pm as the previous sessions were all booked out. The moment you arrive, for those who are weak with motion sickness, prepare yourselves. I personally did feel a bit sick from the revolving floors. They spin 360 degrees over a period of roughly 75 mins. The lobster entree dish was plated nicely but don’t know what it was trying to achieve. The flavours were all over the place. Ordered the duck, was cooked well and preserved the tenderness of the meat. The base sauce on the duck was caramelised to a nice sweet point. The side mix of vegetables on the side seemed weird, as it was a mix of everything with what seemed like a pumpkin base purée. The fish dish, can’t remember what is was as they change it. Asked staff and came back with both hands in pockets and responded with an attitude. The beetroot salad was cooked with heat, a first time experience having warm beetroot and felt that it was too soggy. The feta cheese would have been nice if it was broken down further instead of big chunks just dropped in it. Had an amaretto sour cocktail. Felt like the bar tender had mixed out on the whipped egg white foam and maybe the lemon. Overall it was too sweet compared to the usual that I have experienced. I would recommend just going with their wine list. Was lucky to view the next table order steak and prawns in which the hall staff cook next to tables with a small flame show. The dishes didn’t look so appetising and one of the staff next to the manager didn’t seem to know what she was doing. The manager himself was distracted by another staff and not sure if the meat was cooked to perfection. Overall, the table staff assigned was great with outstanding customer service. Attention to details were a bit low for the general floor staff. A venue recommended for a special occasion if you’re not too fussy about the food quality.
If there more stars I would rate this experience even higher. The service was impeccable & so friendly. The meals, each course was more delicious than the last & a view to die for. A perfect culinary experience
Lovely views & ambience. A big shout out to Inderjeet who looked after us. The 3 course meal was good value.
The food here seems kind of 70s inspired, but in a really good way. The views are amazing and the service is always not notch.
The view is excellent
These photos are from my visit in 2017 …. What a lovely 🥰 place this !!! Revolving and showing the absolute beauty of Hobart … water bodies … hillside.. amazing 😻 food 🍱… great chef 👨🍳… friendly staff …
The staff and food were equally incredible. Such a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and had fun. What a wonderful experience. Thank you!
Absolutely worst, 45 mins before we even ordered a drink, 40 mins later last ordered drink finally arrived after communicating with restaurant supervisor Daniel Maynard. 2 hours later main course finally arrived cold and overcooked. Spoke to supervisor who finally took action and cleared table and brought dessert. 3 hours and 30 mins into dinner we asked for the bill, server said he would bring then walked to another table and completely ignored the request. Went to the front desk asked to pay, did, then asked manager to have the server apologize for his poor service and disrespect, magically he went home, despite the fact he was supposed to bring the bill, according to Daniel Maynard the supervisor. He stated if we were not happy we should have said something, to which we replied we did, you had to pour our wine when we first complained, he said oh yeah I remember that. So bottom line up front, save your money and go somewhere else, service from staff to leadership was absolutely junk. Not worth the 800.00 we gave this establishment, save yourself the trouble! These are the leaders that failed this establishment.
Celebrate wedding anniversary. The Revolving Restaurant staff service are Excellent I really enjoyed the menu.
If you like mediocre food and circles, this is the place for you!
This has been our choice for significant family birthdays over a number of decades. Our reservation was for 6.30pm, considering the location and based on past dinners here, we expected to be out by around 9.30pm. We didn't get our mains until 9.20pm (entrees were served about an hour before - and for those who didn't have an entree it was a long wait of almost two hours). Our cake was brought out after 10pm, and we left just before 11pm. I had the haloumi entree, and the risotto main. They were nice but not amazing and this is a restaurant you should leave raving about the delightful food, keen to go back again. The only food I would say was up to expectations was the little complementary taster and the complementary little mocha cups. Sadly the best course was the cake we brought with us. The view was lovely, the service was friendly but woefully slow. With so many Hobart restaurants serving a very high standard of food, I honestly can't imagine ever going back.
Quite disappointed as I have had dinner here a few times previously and had a great time, however my latest visit was just plain sad. 6:30 - Arrived for dinner 7:15 - Received drinks ordered on arrival 8:15 Entrees 9:30 Mains 10:30 Our own cake 11:00 left On arrival we had an infant but were not offered a Highchair and had to grab our own. Unfortunately the mains made everyone super depressed as we had been waiting so long only to be served enough to maybe feed a toddler (3 pieces of meat and a dollop of mushroom sauce with no sides for $70+ is a joke). Servers were rushing around so much (despite it not being busy), they did not listen to requests so needs were unmet, meals were taken before being finished and some dishes were not put through. (I had ordered a dessert with the 3 course meal only to find out at dessert time it was not put through or prepared) The servers were in such a rush to make us leave that they offered to box up our cake so we could serve it to ourselves (everyone had travelled a long way so I guess they expected us to eat it in the car park??) It was about 10:30 when our cake was finally dished to us. We were glad to finally leave but even then the staff were practically trying to push us out the door. The scenery could have been a saviour had the glass been clean enough to look through and not completely smudged. I understand fine dining is usually more about the complex flavours than having a full meal, but when everyone comes away starving, exhausted and going to McDonald’s on the way home you know it’s bad. In short, Fine dining if you are fine with having food and still being hungry, waiting around for hours doing nothing, and if you want to be treated like a PITA by staff. If you’re not into that sort of thing I would advise eating at: Literally anywhere else. Thankyou for coming to my TEDtalk
Went to this place wanting to order a few entrees and dessert, as was not very hungry and staying at the hotel, and after getting our drinks, were told it is MANDATORY to order a main if you want to eat there. Nowhere does it say this on their website. You're not told this when you get there. I have eaten at some really upmarket places and never come across such a bizarre rule. So didn't get to order any of the entrees I had my eye on as I had to eat a steak I didn't even want. The cost of the entrees I wanted was more than even the most expensive main, so they actually lost money by having this bizarre rule. The dessert was amazing, but is it worth spending $50-80 on food you don't even want to have it? Nope. The whole place is like a 70's idea of what a fancy restaurant is. Flambe at the table, and a weird snooty vibe like you're lucky to even be eating there. Which maybe you were when the place opened, but it's 2023 and Hobart has so many incredible restaurants. I suggest you find one of them.
AMAZING
My wife and I had an amazing dinner in the revolving restaurant tonight. The food was excellent. The attention to detail was exceptional and the service is attentive and discreet. 10/10 from us! We’ll certainly be back.
Had great evening Everything was perfect
The service and food were top quality. A romantic place but not stuffy. Surprisingly easy to have conversation without feeling you could be overheard. I wish they had booths though. Again the food was excellent. The photos don't do it justice.
I was very disappointed. Booked a table for 8 people at 6.30pm it was 45 minutes before we got drinks and over an hour before we got a bread roll. Finished at 9.30 with the complimentary chocolates being delivered to the cash register area and half our party had already left. It was my daughters 40th Birthday so a special treat - service was lousy.
Excellent service Nick was great , friendly and very courteous loved the atmosphere will be back
Have been multiple times, the view, service, atmosphere, and the food is amazing. Can't fault it, we will be back again.
The set menu was a great option. Spectacular views of the city, tasty food and great service.
You pay mostly for the experience! Its a definite luxury experience. Food was impressive, service bit slow but as a couple, it was the best Romantic experience!
Impeccable service, lovely atmosphere. Some food was overly salted (and I enjoy salt!). The creme brulee was the best I'd ever eaten. However I think the food is overpriced, and I'd go to other high end restaurants over the revolving restaurant.
We have dined here twice, on both occasions we enjoyed the wonderful menu and could not fault the fantastic service provided by Luke. - Tim & Lianne 😊
Loved it.!!such a wonderful evening, will be doing that again, highly recommended.
An incredible evening. Beautiful food, amazing service.
Great experience with flambe dishes cooked in front of you. Staff were very accommodating, professional, and friendly. Food was delicious. Just remember if you're not seated at a window upon arrival you soon will be as the restaurant revolves (I might have forgotten that for a moment 😂)
