OUR HISTORY

Richmond Race Club is one of the leading provincial greyhound tracks in New South Wales, racing on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday nights on the Circle Track, and Thursday afternoons on the Straight Track.

  • Circle Track: A two-turn loam circuit racing over 320m, 401m, 520m, 622m, and 722m.
  • Straight Track: NSW’s only current straight track in operation, racing on a grass surface over 324m.

The track, based at Londonderry, was first opened as a thoroughbred and harness track and held its first meeting on December 17, 1912. Aside from four years during the depression, the track has continually held race meetings until the present day.

  • 1952: Gallops ceased racing at Richmond.
  • 1955: Greyhound racing was introduced on the straight track on Saturday afternoons.
  • 1958: The 110-acre property was purchased by the Club for £17,500.
  • 1967: The club changed its name to Richmond Race Club Ltd.
  • 1968: A new grass circle track for greyhound racing was developed.
  • 1969: The track was granted full TAB coverage.
  • 1970s: Richmond became the leading provincial track in the state.
  • 1987: The harness track closed for six months before re-opening in 1988.
  • 1997: The last harness meeting was held at Richmond.
  • 1999: The old grass track was replaced with a new loam track.

Richmond Race Club continues to be a cornerstone of greyhound racing in New South Wales, offering a rich history and state-of-the-art facilities.

Not as good as it was ! Used to be packed out but that was over 40 years ago..

Nice place to spend the evening with friends trying to find a winning greyhound. Eatery and child friendly with a small play area, my family I will be attending a few times over the warmer months.

Great night

A fun night out with a good set up. Friendly staff serve up decent food & drinks & there’s two TAB’s & a bookie. Plenty of Uber’s available.

Great when you have a dog running. Good view of stirrup yard and Track. Not as close as Wenty but still great view of the race

Cheap food but I guest you get what you paid for.

I only came to drop the dog. But lady was so kind not to charge me parking fee. I really see it as beautiful place and nice people.
