Inspired by the Island
Landscape Restaurant & Grill creates unforgettable dining experiences in the heart of Hobart’s Hunter Street waterfront precinct. Nestled within the historic walls of the IXL jam factory and surrounded by the iconic art of John Glover, our restaurant is a celebration of Tasmania’s land, water, and colour.
Our love for the exquisite produce of our island home drives us to constantly push the benchmark for premium dining in Tasmania.
The John Glover Connection
Much of the inspiration for Landscape comes from the artworks of John Glover – striking, unforgettable paintings that capture the life and beauty of 19th-century Tasmania. Today, the John Glover Prize celebrates contemporary landscape art, and a selection of these prize-winning works is displayed in our Private Dining Room.
The Asado Grill
A signature feature of Landscape, our Asado Grill is fired daily with sherry, bourbon, or port casks from the Tasmanian Cask Company. These seasoned timbers impart a unique flavour to our dishes, which showcase the best of the season.
Our ingredient-focused kitchen sources from a well-established network of Tasmanian farmers, ensuring every dish is a masterpiece of local produce.

Cheers to Lachie for the great service! Much appreciated. The food was great and steaks were to die for
We had an amazing dinner at Landscape. The food was very tasty!!! The staff were great too! The venue was outstanding with all the artworks in the restaurant. We went there for our 20th wedding anniversary dinner and we could not fault this place.
Our maître d' Leigh was so excellent at his job. He made sure to keep checking on us & left us feeling well looked after. He even lent a spare pair of his own glasses to my grandmother so she could read the menu. Food was exceptional. All together a memorable dinner. Thank you.
Best steak in Tasmania. We always go to Landscape on special occasions. Everything on the menu is good. I am fussy but never able to find anything I can complain about.
This was my second visit and it did not disappoint. Our flight was delayed and the staff were very accommodating. Everyone’s meals were excellent and the beef is the best I’ve had. For the art fans there walls are filled with a great selection of works. Excellent options for celiacs.
Best dinner experience in Australia. Food, service, and ambiance was all great. The steak was fantastic.
Very upmarket. Very cosy. Exemplary service. Amazing food.
AMAZING place!! Very good Victorian era vibes. Reservations are little difficult to find, so I'd recommend to book in advance - they are always full at least a week before. I'd would recommend this place for special occasions. Food: Food was amazing and delicious - Calamari was just wow! The sides were the best. They've got large wine cellar (I had a mocktail). The kids menu was very good too. Right balance of protein and greens. I would go again. Services: The services was exceptional - I've never so welcomed anywhere. The staff was very humble, empathic and conversational. They've nailed the service part! Vibes: The place has a very nice vibe of traditional Victorian era with dim lights and sized tables. The art on the wall was great.
Fantastic restaurant, chef, sommelier, food, wine selection, service staff & ambience. Truly amazing experience! This restaurant is one of the best I have been to.
Fantastic food with outstanding, attentive staff - perfect atmosphere - Highly recommend!
Was a great night I had with my family had a minor hiccup but honestly their staff handled it perfectly and professionally
Steak was beautiful, good atmosphere, and friendly professional service.
This is an amazing place for that special occasion. Food and service are exquisite.
Very impressive. The restaurant is soo nice. I forgot to take pics of the place but we were soo impressed with the presentation the restaurant. Very high class ! Service was very good. Though if I’m really critical we asked for our oysters (with pancetta and garlic) to be really cooked as we aren’t a fan of raw oysters and he noted ‘… oh no they are really cooked through…’ sadly no. They were warmed at best and my wife was put off . Bad start. However after this mishap it was all very impressive !!! The somm (Lee) recommended a fantastic merlot. It was his personal fav and quickly became one of mine too. Nice recovery. We both had eye fillet and it was the best we’ve had in some time. Be careful about the pepper berry sauce, it was very peppery/hot. Complimentary whiskey truffles were great. Overall we’d def go back and highly recommend to anyone coming to Hobart.
This was one of the best dining experiences we've had in Hobart – absolutely flawless from start to finish. From the warm greeting by the manager to the attentive service from the waiter and sommelier, the entire team made our night truly special. I’m so grateful we chose to dine here for my partner’s birthday. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and the quality was evident in every bite. The service was outstanding – the staff consistently checked in to ensure everything was perfect, making us feel genuinely cared for. It’s been a long time since we’ve experienced this level of hospitality. Thank you to the entire team – we’ll definitely be back during our next visit to Tassie. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience!
Was so looking forward to birthday dinner at landscape and walking in the service and atmosphere didn’t disappoint. The waitress Paulina from France was a special kind of person and was exceptional. Duck fat potatoes and broccolini sides 10/10 HOWEVER the steak we ordered was a 180 gram wagyu marble score 9+ which was cooked medium rare and to perfection but WAS MOST DEFINITELY NOT A WAGYU 9+ as a steak officianado myself who has had many wagyu steaks I would be surprised if it was even wagyu. Other than the steak let down the experience and service was 10/10.
Shout out to the amazing staff member who made a special night even more special. While the food was top notch and the steak was superb - huge compliments to the chefs...it was our host (Leigh) that made our night. His attention to detail, caring attitude, and sense of humour made us feel welcomed and comfortable. He is a credit to the restaurant. Thank you, Leigh !
Impeccable service and incredible food. Exquisite and elegant atmosphere.
One of my favourite steak restaurants. High quality dishes, lovely quiet 'old library' ambiance and prompt courteous service. Bookings essential. Expect about $100-150 per person for 3 dishes and sides. Drinks extra - a very extensive wine list is available. Both the Scotch fillet and Rib Eye are exceptional. I've yet to try the surf and turf about which I hear good reviews.
Absolutely exceeds expectations.
Outstanding in every way.
This has to be one of Hobarts best restaurants. The service, decor, food and wine list is fantastic.
Great experience even for a solo diner like me! Did not have such well executed steak in long time. Thanks and congratulations!
The best a steak can get
We arrived unannounced on a Sunday night and we were treated like old friends. Great feel and mood, Great food, great service from all there. I think the best restaurant and meal combinations (wine included) I have had. Thank you very much for a memorable experience.
We had a wonderful 3 hours at Landscape, from the moment we entered to the time we left the staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is relaxing and very comfortable, with beautiful artworks and soft furnishings keeping the sounds nicely muted, allowing for relaxed conversation. We thoroughly enjoyed the oysters, calamari, Wagyu, eye fillet, cauliflower, Paris mash, apple tart and cheesecake. The wine list is extensive and after consulting with the sommelier, we went for a Pinot Noir which was amazing. We could not be happier with our experience and highly recommend Landscape as a special occasion venue. We want to come back and try other menu items next time we are in Hobart 😊
Absolutely phenomenal from the second you step in the door. Food was incredible - the sides are bigger than expected, get one to share between two people. We had the sashimi, rice crusted calamari, Scotch fillet and aged pork cutlet with sides of Paris mash and duck fat potatoes. Service was what you'd expect from a 5 star fine dining establishment, kind and attentive with excellent timing - thank you to our server James. I will definitely be back next time we're in Hobart.
An exceptional place to dine, steak cooked to perfection. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Hobart, food, service and atmosphere are all of the highest quality.
Landscape restaurant, a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We were a table of three and all agreed that it was first class service from the time we arrived to the time we left. Our host, Summer, was outstanding with her impeccable personal service. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Everything was so on point! Great value for really amazing food and drinks. Cliff (and the entire team) who looked after us were really lovely. Visiting from Sydney, this “unpretentiousness” was truly refreshing. Will definitely return!
There are not enough stars in this review to do this place justice. Landscapes is my favourite restaurant for every reason - first class food, first class venue and first class service. All for incredible value. The manager Vicky is a consummate professional, just like the manager she succeeded. Leigh looked after us. You wouldn't have noticed him in the room looking after 19 of us. He smoothly moved through the room, keeping everyone happy and truly 'serving' to a level that is a forgotten art. Leigh, you are seriously 'the best' and we were lucky to have you look after us. Nothing but respect and admiration for you. Landscapes team, you won me over years ago & you're stuck with me I'm sorry. If you haven't eaten here, this is THE best value restaurant in Hobart. Get around it, you can't go wrong...I haven't even mentioned the menu 😍
This was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary mid week. The food was beautiful to look at and delicious. The kingfish sashimi was perfectly delicate, beef tartare excellent flavour and the wagyu so soft and flavoursome. An apple tart and Creme caramel, both decorated with Happy Anniversary, topped off our meals. The service all round was happy, friendly (thanks Cliff) with a good overall restaurant atmosphere. Thanks for making our anniversary meal spectacular - it was a meal to remember.
Atmosphere, food, wine and staff all excellent. Special shout out to Summer.
Upscale restaurant with amazing food, wine and service. The steak was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Highly recommend!
This place left me speechless. The night was an extremely satisfying experience for a special occasion. The staff were amazing and food was excellent 🙌👌 likely one of the best places I've been to.
Fantastic food, great service. Steak was top notch. Lamb was also excellent. It came recommended to me and I would also highly recommend.
Delightful dining experience
What separates Landscape, apart from the outstanding food, drink and hospitality, is the incredible, elegant setting – you are dining in an art gallery and there is plenty to see. Special mention to our waiter, Ethan, who was everything a good waiter should be – with great banter too. Everyone at Landscape looked after us. One of the most memorable dining experiences I've had. Thank you.
Venue has great atmosphere, staff were friendly and their customer service was what you would expect out of upper class dining. Food was cooked to our liking (steak) and flavours were amazing, served on warm plates, complimentary cob and whiskey truffles. Highly recommend , one of the best places to dine in Hobart. We expected a great venue of 4.5-5 stars and it delivered. I have already made another booking to take a friend there later in the month.
Best steak in town
If you know how to appreciate the arts, this is your restaurant. Delicious food
Fantastic place to eat! Could not fault any component of my meals even down to the drinks. Staff all very polite and friendly. Loved the artwork that we were able to walk around and look at in the restaurant. Overall vibes and atmosphere 10/10- would highly recommend to anyone after a good meal!
Landscape restaurant located Hobart waterfront within the Henry Jones Art Hotel. The restaurant is a great choice for dinner, from the moment you enter you are greeted by a grand timber staircase. The entry has glass display cases for the personalised steak knives of the regular guests. The restaurant has a focus on Landscape artworks from John Glover. We were a group of 7 and shared all of the dishes. The food was delicious and service was great.
Most amazing food. From the time we entered we felt welcome and looked after. The waitress was very attentive and personal. Lots of laughter in combination we excellent food and wine. All ingredients are from Tasmania and you can taste it the steak, lamb and vegetables are divine. If you want to taste the produce from the land - than this is the place to go.
A tad bit disappointing considering the price we paid for a meal. The aged sirloin steak was very Chewy.
One of the best fine dining in Tasmania. Great service, the staff is very knowledgeable with their food and wine. The food is great, the steak is truly delicious.
Amazing experience! Booked the private dining room for a work dinner for 17 people. We book similar dinners every quarter in a different city each time. Landscape Restaurant was slightly more expensive than what we'd usually book, but it was worth every cent. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding (Ethan is a star!) and the room was large, quiet, and beautifully decorated with artwork. We've been doing these dinners for years, and this one is now #1. Thank you!
Wonderful setting surrounded by beautiful paintings, fine dining in comfort. Our waiter James was fantastic and all staff were attentive, going above and beyond for my partner on his birthday. He said the steak was one of the best he'd ever eaten and I particularly enjoyed the buffalo mozzarella and zucchini. Would recommend and would come back.
Steak was amazing. Staff were incredible and went out of their way to make our night special. Dessert was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is wanting a bit of a fine dining experience in Hobart. Definitely a night to remember and a great way to end a special holiday. 10/10!
Very delicious delicacies. Best food in Tasmania I have. We tried pork, lamb and eyes fillets with duck oil potato. All of them are perfect. Friendly service as well. ;)
Really fantastic restaurant. Beautiful old world atmosphere with friendly service and the meals were spot on. Would happily recommend and definitely shall come again. A must visit for tourists and locals
Landscape was one of the highlights of our trip to Hobart. One of the best steaks I have had and exceptional service. The attention to detail was sensational and the atmosphere was rustic but refined.
Fantastic food and wine from beginning to end. Nice cosy place with polite and welcoming staff. Brought the whole family here with my 10 year old eating a fantastic Wagyu Bolognese. Being an italian and critical of most italian places, this was one of the best and its not even an italian restaurant. My daughter, wife, son and I all had different steaks and they were cooked to perfection. Entree was great and the desserts were light and a great way to finish off a wonderful meal with the family.
Eathan our Waiter made our experience perfection
My favourite restaurant in Hobart. Amazing service, incredible food and a beautiful atmosphere. An absolute must!
Would give 10 if I could! Service was lovely, attentive but not intrusive. Black Onyx Scorch Fillet (chefs cut) was life changing! Other highlights: King Fish sashimi, beef tartare, Brussels and roast potatoes.
Wow! Our experience was exceptional at Landscape. We arrived for our anniversary dinner and were greeted with free glasses of sparkling wine, whilst we settled in to the beautiful surroundings. You clearly pay for more than the food here - the atmosphere is incredible and it feels like you are dining in an intimate art gallery. The service provided by Lucy was second to none and to top it off the food was the best meal we have ever had. My only regret is not ordering the more expensive steak!
I don't even bother to take photos of other dishes, just to prove that I actually ate here. I waited almost an hour for the main course after the starter, and I urged the main course in the middle. The overall quality of the food is very average, the price is also expensive, most of the people here are for business and social networking, so it is a little noisy, everyone is talking. If you're going for the food, it's really not recommended.
Beautiful setting and energetic staff. Staff went out of their way to make our birthday celebration feel special. Our favourite Hobart restaurant.
Stunning dining experience from start to finish. Cozy atmosphere, spectacular service, and decadent dining options. Felt like we were dining in an art gallery. Incredible attention to detail, and our server Lucy was awesome! Thank you for such a wonderful experience. 😊
Solid service and ambience but sub par food. Dont bother with surf and turf, smallest peice of surf" I have ever seen. Not worth the $300+ spent for 2 people."
service is good, food is average! atmosphere is excellent.
Eye fillet was perfect. So we're the duck fat potatoes.
June 2024: Landscape has definitely upped the ante for the Henry Jones's dining experience. Gone is the old Henry's, and in it's place a beautifully presented high end establishment. Staff all courteous, food delicious and Julia's private collection of Glover's works on display.
My partner and I came from Melbourne to celebrate my birthday and we dined at this restaurant and had a marvellous experience.Service was outstanding. The food was delicious. Other friendly patrons all chatting about the gorgeous art work on display. We look forward to coming back. Definitely recommend the Wagyu eye fillet and the Paris mash DELICIOUS
We had a wonderful dinner last night. Ethan served us. He was exceptional! Great sense of humour, professional and welcoming. Thankyou team. Ethan, your a champion!!
I had my birthday dinner yesterday. The food, staff and atmosphere was excellent. We were accommodated with their best service, the experience with the set menu for a table of 12 was amazing! It was totally worth it for the price! They provided with drinks on the house and helped prepare the place for a birthday party.
Outstanding food and service. And a great wine list too including some excellent local products. And the artwork complements an excellent setting. Will be back for sure.
Highly recommend for special occasions. Exceedingly well-crafted menu - some based on traditional 'pub' favourites with high-class dazzle plus unquestionably avant-garde dishes. Service is excellent and tip-worthy. Sommelier was a little eccentric/familiar (no doubt as they often are) but did, in fairness, recommend an incredible bottle to accompany our meal. Atmosphere was fair, but be warned of the rowdy boys club business dinners and baseball cap-clad cruise ship drop-ins. The lighting and table spacing was spot on for an intimate mood however. Impressive artwork on display. Will return!
My partner and I had dinner here tonight for our last night in Tasmania. We were blown away by how delicious the food was, how attentive, friendly and knowledgeable the staff were and how relaxed the atmosphere was whilst being a fine dining space. We will be back to Hobart purely for Landscape. Don’t miss out on this 11/10 experience, it was well worth the price.
Absolutely wonderful dinner! Every aspect of food, drinks and service was outstanding. Highly recommend if in Hobart just book in advance.
We couldn’t fault Landscape Restaurant and Grill in any way. The ambience and food was second to none, we had 200gm & 250gm fillet steaks with Paris mash and Dutch carrot sides. Service was on point and very friendly and Tim the Sommelier was extremely knowledgeable with a very comprehensive wine list. We’ll be sure to visit again when next in Hobart.
Note to self. Don't go to a steak restaurant and not have steak. Dinner for 2 underneath one of john glovers fabulous landscapes. The restaurant is full of them and comfy dining chairs and a super extensive wine list. Meals were nice but have had steak here before and to my mind, that is the house specially. Excellent service and for an occasion hard to find better.
Dinner for 4 on 10/4. A wonderful ambiance complemented beautifully by the cuisine and service. Thank you - all delivered as it should be!
Celebrating our anniversary at Landscape Restaurant & Grill was quite possibly the best decision of our weekend away in Hobart. We enjoyed the Black Angus Sirloin which was absolutely divine, so to were the delicious sides including duck fat potatoes, broccolini and carrots. The team at Landscape looked after us more than we could have ever asked or imagined with no request too much. In particular, the waitress, Lucy I believe her name was, was not only polite and friendly but professional and courteous. We are so grateful for the little touches such as the complimentary truffles at the end which really made the night that slightest bit more special. Thank you to the entire team, there is no doubt we will return for more mouthwatering food in the future.
I felt being neglected though the staff were busy running around all the time. Obviously the restaurant manager didn’t arrange enough personnel today. Waiter and waitress of other tables don’t respond to us, “maybe”they didn’t see us raising hands or calling them. No TEAM SPIRIT - restaurant management issue I guess. The food and drink is great though.
Awesome steaks and meal in general
Impeccable food, service and atmosphere. We both had the Tassie scotch fillet and it was delicious. Cooked exactly as requested. The dark chocolate tart was sublime. Treat yourself.
My partner enjoyed a stunning meal at Landscape. It is adjacent, well actually joined to the Henry jones art hotel. We both had entrees, me some oysters and my partner the calamari. Both were delicious. We then both had eye fillet steaks 200g and my partner added the surf and turf. The steaks were very tender and cooked to perfection. We accompanied these with the broccolini and duck fat potatoes. Both were beautiful. Unfortunately that left no room for dessert. This is an amazing selection of wines however we settled on gin and tonics and were not disappointed. Service was excellent in a very calm and opulent environment. For a special night out I would highly recommended.
Food: Excellent—delicious steak and sides, however the bread served before the meal was cold and rock hard (why bother serving it at all?). Atmosphere: Historic charm, John Glover’s art—pure magic. Service: Sadly, completely inattentive waitstaff. I've had more service at a a country café. Staff sat us then were nowhere to be seen, a short interaction while we ordered & our food was delivered and that was it. No one came by to ask how the steak was cooked or if we needed anything further. My husband finished his drink and placed the glass on the side of the table to indicate needing another - still our waitress Lucy was nowhere to be seen. It seems they only way to get her (or anyone's) attention was to walk to the front to pay our bill upon exit! Truly a let down.
The food here is impeccable. Every single dish was delicious and cooked perfectly- definitely highlights the quality of produce from Tasmania. The calamari was so soft and tasty, the king fish was brilliantly cured and full of flavour with a lovely texture. The steaks were a highlight- cooked exactly as we ordered and it was so full of flavour and freshness. Paris of mash was delectable! Staff were friendly and helpful and knew their stuff- thanks Leigh you legend. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a high quality steak. Thank you for making my friend’s birthday a memorable one
We could not fault this restaurant. The service was excellent, Lucy was attentive, knowledgeable and engaging. Timing between courses was perfect. The food was served delicious and hot. The restaurant decor was sensational, the John Glover paintings were amazing.
