Welcome to Flem-Ken Bowling Club
Founded in 1892, the Flemington & Kensington Bowling Club (affectionately known as Flem-Ken) is one of Melbourne’s oldest and most cherished bowling clubs. Located on the boundary between Flemington and Kensington, just a stone’s throw from the iconic Flemington Racecourse, Flem-Ken has been a cornerstone of the local community for over a century.
With a rich history of success in the Royal Victorian Bowling Association (RVBA) pennant competitions, Flem-Ken has earned a reputation for excellence in lawn bowls. Our honour boards proudly display the names of some of Victoria’s finest bowlers and notable local figures. The club has celebrated numerous victories, including two Division 1 pennants in the 1990s and a recent Division 6 premiership in 2022, marking our first Melbourne-wide premiership in 19 years.
Despite being a smaller, pokies-free club, Flem-Ken continues to thrive and compete against larger, more resourced clubs, showcasing our dedication to the sport and community spirit.

Neil & the team looked after us so well at very short notice for a work function. Would recommend & I reckon we'll be back!
Like stepping back to the 1970s in a good way.

Great place for functions. There are various rooms and activities that you can do.
Have fun with new things... New place
Loved they held a greyhound day
Great fellas and club
Lovely hidden gem, this place should be a regular haunt for anyone who lives walking/cycling distance. Amazing service, great range and the prices are super competitive. Bowls, pool table, table tennis and much more. Plenty of room for large groups inside or out. As welcoming a place as I’ve ever found, it’s a bit of a maze for first timers and there’s a lot of dead space so feels empty even when there’s a few people in. Could do with a little up date but it won’t effect your visit. Will be back.
Classic 70s style old-school bowls club, with an excellent selection of craft beer. Friendly staff who encourage having a go at the bowls. Pool tables. Tuesday is blues night. Events sometimes include “Meet the Brewers”. And no damn pokies on principle! Support this great place.
Friendly people good food and music
A great, old-fashioned bowls club. They have a surprisingly excellent range of drinks and good, simple food on offer. Love the carpet, it reminds me of my Nan's old house. Decent BBQ facilities, nice and clean. Staff are warm welcoming. A lot of local history in a true gem of a sporting/social venue.
Love it
A great community resource, run by passionate volunteers
Nice place
Small club
Really nice pool tables
Can do better unless you are looking for a 1960s time travel experience
Great beer, nice people.
Such an awesome time, bring your own food and buy drinks there!!
Old style but interesting bowls club. 'Blues Appreciation Society' HQ, featuring some great international artists from time to time. As for the club itself, it has it's own kind of charm, anybody seen the Mick Malloy movie 'Crackerjack'?
