The food and service at Irish Murphy’s has been first rate. We loved the pints of Guinness ….and the Pork Ribs and Pork Schnitzel were amazing. We’ve had nothing but amazing service from Daniel. He is the happiest, most accommodating customer service specialist we’ve experience in all of Hobart. He is an absolute credit to the whole Irish Murphy’s experience.
Good place , great food .amazing service
Came in and had the loaded fries (delicious) and the chicken parmi which was one of the best i’ve ever had. Some of the best pub food going around and for a wicked price. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special—but what truly made our night unforgettable was Marta. She went above and beyond in every possible way, effortlessly balancing warmth, professionalism, and an incredible attention to detail. The food was exquisite, the ambiance was elegant, but Marta’s service? Absolutely unmatched. If you’re dining here, pray that she’s your server—you’ll be in the best hands possible.
Want to write a review for Marta and her amazing customer service, so lovely and genuine. She really makes you feel at home and warm like tinder for a fire.
Jake and Marta were incredibly professional and very engaging. Also served me the best guinness I've had in my entire time in australia.
Friendly staff with really good food. Great location
Popped in for a drink on a Saturday night, great entertainment, within a historic pub.
Had an amazing time at Irish Murphy’s in Hobart with a few friends! The vibe of the place is just perfect – warm, lively, and inviting. Whether you’re enjoying a pint or just hanging out, it’s a great spot to unwind and soak in the atmosphere. The staff are friendly, and the overall ambiance really adds to the experience. Plus, the location is fantastic, nestled in a charming area that adds to the vibe. I’ll definitely be back for more drinks and good times!
Fantastic place to get served underage. I’m 16 and was served a pint! Thanks Dexter for the great service! Anyone underage wanting a drink in Hobart with no ID this is the place to go. 5/5 for getting a drink at 16, but food was 2/5
Food was excellent and the service was exemplary. Choice of seating inside and out was also good with views to Salamanca. Highly recommend
This place is certainly a golden gem and a must visit in Hobart y’all ❕❕✨ I appreciatee this place so much and I absolutely adore their food especially the deliciously tender, rich and juicy scotch fillet that was a soft as butter, without a doubt, I highly recommend!! As much as I loved the food (and I love food), that’s only the beginning of my refreshingly amazing experience, not only was my appetite and cravings satiated, but so was my heart and soul. The music and good vibes are not to be overlooked here. Not only that! But the staff are so friendly, upbringing and mood lifting!! It’s a great atmosphere to enjoy food in and overall an awesome place to experience. I’d like to especially mention a staff member… I think her name is, Bella? She always greets you with a smile and is able to help and accomodate to customer needs and overall provides the kindest and most pure service! She certainly contributes to the warm and welcoming atmosphere and good vibes! With all that being said, all the staff are super friendly, amazing and soo cool here!! And the service could not get any better! You MUST NOT miss this beauty in 21 Salamanca Pl❕❕I highly recommend, preciatechalll again Irish Murphy’s 🤗❕✨
Great staff, great food and the best pint of Kilkenny .
The atmosphere is great. The service is so great, Daniel provided excellent service
Great service, food was delicious. Daniel provided excellent service.
Great people. Great atmosphere. Daniel was an excellent service
Atmosphere was ok but service wasn’t good at all. Totally overpriced for a plain burguer and soft drink 34 aud.
Great night having a few, dancing and listening to a fantastic band 🥳
Irish Murphy amazing. Amal looked after us so amazingly we will come back because of the ambiance and the hospitality and awesome music
Visited this place on a cruise tour.. ambience is awesome 🤩 food is delicious.. thanks to Amal, the Bar Tender, he is very calm and sweet.. suggested good drink and food.. Guinness pie is a must try 🤩😋😋
Food was amazing, especially the beef and Guinness pie, and service was great!
Top of the morning to ya! This place would put hair on a wee leprechauns chest! Killed Kenny and it was delicious and poured to perfection by the bar person! Topped it off with the traditional Irish stew and to be really sure of the Irish experience a wonderful Guinness stew pie. The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere awesome and the muso was great! Highly recommend Iontach Iontach. Iontach !!!!
The staff are very friendly and amazing the food was excellent compliments to all staff Tim said the Barramundi was superb and Kerrie said her chicken snitz and salad was excellent
Great creamy pints and a lively atmosphere.
Amal was fantastic. Really made us feel welcome at this lovely rustic pub. Amazingly good and fresh food, beer and wine. Amal and all staff are very friendly and helpful and they keep walking around the pub and checking everything is alright which is quite impressive. 100 percent recommending and coming back!
The beer battered flathead was disgraceful, all batter, no fish. The salad was soggy & overdressed. The octopus salad was also over cooked, with the salad again overdressed.
Great place. We had booked a table but when we arrived it was a high table and my elderly mum and dad couldn’t sit at the table. The manager and one of the staff kindly moved the table out of the way and found a more suitable one for us. Nothing was a problem and we really appreciated this, thank you! The food and atmosphere was fabulous to
Went for family celebration at Irish Murphy's and the service was outstanding a certain staff member Daniel was so welcoming and professional and that is rare these days 😀 😄 👌 great customer service we will have many more celebrations at Irish Murphy's again.
Great service and food!
We had lunch and ordered two vegan schnitzels, one with a mushroom sauce the other with gravy. It was the best schnitzel I have had , perfectly cooked with yummy chips and a beautifully dressed salad. The staff were friendly and the lunch was served promptly. I would recommend if you are vegan or vegetarian this is a great option for you. For my friend who joined us and loves seafood he had the squid entree with chips and was very happy with his meal also. We loved the atmosphere and enjoyed a Guinness as well as other beverages .
Had the Barramundi here tonight, it was the soggiest and saltiest piece of fish I've eaten in a decade. It came with some undercooked yet still soggy salty soft potatoes. Wretched. Left hungry yet full of regret.
Excellent food, well presented, staff very friendly. I had the Slow Cooked Lamb Shank it was one of the very best I have tasted. Do not pass this establishment because if you do, you will miss a fantastic meal. The wine was first class as well - I am not a beer drinker.
Very friendly people, had a very nice atmosphere and their schnitzel and gravy was very good
10/10 Customer service from Daniel he was very professional and prompt. (Give this man a raise) The Guinness Pie was one of the best pie’s i’ve ever had and had to comeback everyday I stayed in Tazzie. Very clean Irish Pub.
Great food, really nice interior and great service from staff.
As a lad from Killarney who’s found himself on the other side of the world, from time to time I feel myself missing some of my home comforts and the one at the very top of that list is a drop of black custard. Getting a good Guinness outside of the Emerald Isle is hard to come by, so I thought this would be no easy task. I decided to surf the web to find a local Irish boozer satiate my urge where I stumbled across this outfit. I walked through the doors at ‘Irish Murphy’s’ and had a feeling commonly felt as an Irishman abroad watching his culture being appropriated by a Country lacking any culture of its own, ‘Is this how we are viewed by the world? All Ireland has to show for its centuries of innovations and the long lasting footprint in the arts, is a tacky taproom with a Brit to serve us’. But I was so wrong! Jordan behind the bar was great craic. I’m someone that holds a grudge against the Brits but Jordan’s charm and disarming nature completely disolved hundreds of years of hatred within an instance. The vibe was so jolly and welcoming it felt like a disservice not to stay until close. The joyful and welcoming ambience created by the staff could’ve had me fooled that I was back in Kerry. There was music, dancing and non-stop good vibes. Even at one point the chant ‘Ooh ahh Up the RA’ started ringing around the establishment, which was lead by no other than the British barman Jordan! For anyone in the area looking for a lovely drop of the Black schtuff, a sing song and great craic look no further than Irish Murphy’s.
Had a cracking evening. The music by Brett Coolidge was brilliant as was the service by Jordan. Great craic, great atmosphere and we will be back.

I’m not usually one to leave detailed reviews, but for Murphy’s… wow! Perusing my way through the streets of Hobart on a cheerfully warm day and I was suddenly struck with the urge for a pint of Guinness. We’ll let me tell you that while I came for the Guinness I stayed for much more. Immediately I was greeted by a smily waiter, a Brit named Gordon or Jordan I believe. Charismatic and knowledgable of his beers, he immediately made me feel at home. Then as soon as that sweet nectar hit my lips, I knew I’d be staying for a while (likely to the dismay of the wife… but hey ho!) Filled with kind customers, a cosy atmosphere, and a wide array of alcoholic beverages this is a must stop for anyone in the area. Thank you so much to the staff and owners for creating such a lovely spot. Special shout out to Gordon/Jordan who genuinely has a kind heart!
A disappointing meal to finish our holiday in Tassie. Whilst the bangers and mash were quite nice. the cheesy garlic bread was dry, swamped in cheese and had very little taste (couldn’t taste any garlic). The salt and pepper squid was also bland, lacking seasoning and flavour.
Lovely place with lovely staff- emma was especially great
Had a lovely drink and meal here whilst passing through on holiday- Emma was fab and made the experience 10/10
This place is hands down one of the most fun pubs I’ve ever been to! The drinks were amazing, the vibe was spot on, and the whole night was just a blast. The closest to Ireland you can get from Tasmania. Big shoutout to Daniel, the bartender in the ken shirt, who completely made the night. He’s super friendly, funny, and knows exactly what to recommend. Every drink he made was so good – you could tell he really knows his stuff. Plus, he kept the energy up the whole time, chatting with everyone and making sure we were having a great time. If you’re looking for a fun night out with great drinks and an even better atmosphere, this is the place. And seriously, ask for Daniel – he’s the MVP
We had a terrible experience at Irish Murphy’s in Hobart last night. We stopped by for a drink and were enjoying our evening when, out of nowhere, the bartender informed us that they would be closing in 2 minutes and we had to leave. The four of us still had full pints in front of us, but we understood they were closing and planned to finish our drinks quickly. I went to the restroom before leaving, and when I came back—less than 2 minutes later—the bartender had taken our beers off the table. We were shocked and told him that we had paid for those drinks and wanted to finish them. His response? “We warned you 2 minutes ago that you had to leave.” This was, by far, the rudest service we have ever experienced. It wasn’t just us—other customers were treated the same way. Instead of giving people a reasonable heads-up (15–30 minutes, for example, or even announcing last orders), they gave a 2-minute warning and then rudely snatched drinks off tables. Unacceptable behavior. You won’t see us here again.
Good olf fashion Irish hospitality and favourites
What beautiful food and service !! Shout out to DANIEL who was such a legend with such an energy serving everyone. Great craic!!
The most friendliest staff and beautiful hearty meals and great value. Brilliant customer service so refreshing to see. Best mashed potato.
Great Irish Pub on the waterfront in Hobart.
Super staff
Highly recommended from me and my Irish boyfriend - Irish Stew: Actual traditional style stew and was amazing. Have been looking for this for a long time since I last visited Limerick and finally found this in Hobart - Guinness Pie: Crispy pastry with soft beef. Amazing combination of flavour. Modern twist on a classic. Very good presentation. - Curry fries: Very large portion with curry sauce, curry powder and cheese - A combination of irish beer (Guinness and Kilkenny), Hobart brewing and Aussie beer - Excellent service from the (british?) team lead/manager. Very attentive and friendly.
Place was quite dead, but probably because we went it on a Sunday night 10 minutes before kitchen closed. But, food was so delicious, aesthetic and well priced. Service was really good too!
Food was delicious and atmosphere was nice. Only downside was the kitchen opened an hour after doors opened. It was nice enough to have a drink and wait.
Very poor customer service… Despite requesting to serve liquor with room temperature water, they served it cold. When I requested it to replace, they just changed the glass
Food was delicious and the atmosphere was really nice. We stopped here for dinner while on vacation. I had Barramundi fish for the 1st time and wow it was so good. My son had their Bangers and Mash.
Had a lovely time at Irish Murphy's. A good selection of beers on tap, tasty food and impeccable service. The service from Emma especially, with her friendly, upbeat personality, made my time there all the more enjoyable.
Great little pub, food so fresh and tasty, lovely staff, reasonable prices 😋
Guinness, served with a smile and in a pint glass... as it should be!
Great service, staff were lovely and would definitely come here regularly if i lived nearby
A well stocked liquor haven...well labelled too for newbies.Fairly priced merchandise though adding staff to be on the lookout to help uninformed customers would make it better! Otherwise they are a great liquor store to visit.
We love Irish Pubs (all cities) for the Irish Beers (Kilkenny, Guinness), and the Irish Pub grub (especially the Beef n Guinness Pie), and the atmosphere. Irish Murphy's on Salamanca is a favourite of ours, when visiting Hobart. We popped in this trip twice, for a Kilkenny and live music, The Beef n Guinness Pie here is unique and looks fantastic. Recommended...
Guineas was great tasty
After many times going past this place while visiting Hobart, finally stopped in for a late night Guinness.. excellent atmosphere and of course a perfectly poured Guinness.. the building has a lot of caricature and history. Nice old pub.
Delicious food and friendly staff
leckere Speisen und Getränke, netter Service
Great beer and food. Marta was an amazing host, personality and bartender! I will be coming back! Thanks Marta
Amazing service, better vibes. I had a wonderful time at Irish Murphy’s bar, the atmosphere is very cosy and the food is wonderful. I was lucky enough to have the amazing Marta serving me and she really made the experience a delight with her conversational whit and charm.
Guinness Pie was a 10/10. Service very friendly and even brought my Guinness to my table after the customary 7 minute pour. Great atmosphere with inside and outside seating.
They have a vegan schnitzel with a choice of sauces which are NOT vegan. One staff member was very unclear, I asked if the gravy was vegan twice and after he said that it was, he then told me after I had started eating it that it had beef stock in it.. The schnitzel itself is tasty.
Good mussels deal !
Poor poor poor service
The best burger I've eaten...ever! The chicken Parma is HUGE. All the meals were a decent portion. Always happy to pay decent prices when you get a decent meal in return.Great service also, friendly, efficient and meals super quick to come out. When we are back in Hobart this will be our place to come for dinner.
Food was nice. Service was ok. Had the chicken parmigiana, crumb was a little over done for my liking, hard to cut through, otherwise it was a large serve. The salad was very oily. Same song was on repeat for about the first 20 mins, I can't believe I had to bring that to their attention for it to be changed.
Wonderful experience with Irish Murphy’s while visiting Hobart to celebrate my mum’s birthday. In the weeks prior to our trip, she was unexpectedly diagnosed with oropharyngeal dysphagia and lost her ability to swallow solids. We wanted her to have as normal an experience as possible so contacted restaurants ahead of time. The manager of Irish Murphy’s got back to me immediately and assisted us with our booking. When the day came, the serving staff knew to expect us and we were attended by both the manager and the chef who had very kindly made a soup dish especially for her. The chef even brought out a fine strainer to confirm that the soup texture would be suitable for her! As a team they went above and beyond to look after us and, for the first time since her diagnosis, mum was able to fully relax while eating at a restaurant. I couldn’t be more grateful or recommend Irish Murphy’s more highly, and the soup itself was delicious!
We had a chips n curry sauce and a couple of pints of Guinness. All was awesome. Great live singer too.
Correct
No Henessey brandy.
Booths were a bit too small for 6 people. They didn't know the drinks that were advertised on their own posters. Food was tasty, except the steak as it was well overcooked and chewy.
A fab pub to have lunch and the meals were 😋 we ate here twice.
