Allawah Hotel

Me and my partner went out last Saturday night on 22 of February to have our usual sirloin steak dish. The place looked almost empty, Fourty minutes later, the dishes arrived and the steaks were burnt. We asked for medium-well done. They had put hot streak on top of our salad. The salad was soggy and hot and steak were completely black and burnt. we had benn waiting for so long that we could not be bothered asking for a new one to be cooked, we have been there a couple of times lately and it has gone from excellent to bad to awful. Not sure why but it is a real shame.

I had a really disappointing experience at this pub. I ordered a beer, and after waiting for 15 minutes, it still hadn’t arrived. I had to go and ask about my order, which is something I shouldn’t have to do at a place that serves drinks. When the staff finally brought my beer, she delivered it with such an attitude—angrily placed it in front of me without saying a single word. No apology, no explanation, nothing. It completely ruined the experience. Service like this makes you feel unwelcome and unappreciated as a customer. I was expecting a relaxed evening, but instead, I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. Definitely not coming back. its sunday night around 10:25

Great location and fantastic food. The venue is large and if you're looking for a private room for parties then they can hold everyone upstairs.

I had the Wagyu cheeseburger. It was dry and the meat was chewy. Could only eat half of it because it was very salty. Chips were overcooked. Overall disappointing

Good value, nice atmosphere and great staff. The Sirloin steak was perfect with the Allawah butter, I enjoyed very much. Thank you.

Very good prices on their meals. Decent meals and good variety for a pub. Good atmosphere, we like to sit upstairs on the outdoor balcony for a drink before we eat.

Pretty good pub food. Eating inside is a little stuffy. It's a shame you can't eat upstairs on the balcony. It appears to be reserved for smokers.

Great local pub

A great local pub. Good food (mix of pub classics and Asian menu), value for money, decent atmosphere. Lots of screens for sport and a quieter dining section.

This pub used to have reasonable prices but recently the prices have sky rocketed and a pint of beer is now more than the CBD and eastern suburbs at over $14. The prices are very Merivale and hugely out of proportion for the local area. The happy hour used to be reasonable at $8 a pint but they have added a craft beer tax so anything crafty is an extra $2 meaning it’s pretty much a full price pint anywhere else. Even the great evening specials have been just been removed and replaced with a full price meal + $5 schooner ‘deal’. This used to be a regular spot for us but we can’t justify paying Bondi beach prices in Allawah anymore, even on happy hour prices. Such a shame.

Used to have excellent deals, but they have really jacked up the prices in recent times. The schnitzel/steak and beer deal was once $14 and now $26... The Merivale tax has hit hard, a bit ridiculous for a pub in the suburbs.

Once a great establishment and a bastion of reasonably priced food and drinks. 15 dollar beer and schnitzel deal was what kept me and my friends coming back to Allawah. Now with the same deal costing 26 dollars for the same thing theres no point. Merivale truly ruins everything it touches

15dollars steaks now cost 23. That is more than 50% increase. Can't complain besides the price

One of the most beautiful experiences of working for 2 years with the Allowah Hotel team, I am always very grateful to the team because I experienced and learned something very beautiful: working with them, a lot of organization and demand has led them to success! many thanks for everything! excellent hygiene!

I've been coming here every Saturday nightwith my wife since we moved to the area 1.5 years ago for the steak and beer deal. Over this time the price has increased by 50%, but tonight there is no beer with the steak. This is the last straw, next week I'll be having a barbie on the balcony for a third of the price. Bye bye

Nice little cosy place

Great food, value for money. We went to the Allawah hotel for lunch and got the 23 dollars set with unlimited soft drinks. The portion is large and and steak tastes great!

Nobody here and order hamburger have to wait nearly 40 mins

Food - nothing special but good portion price ok and the place is like a normal pubs (not too clean)

I have loved certain dishes but then they change the menu and I can't order what I like. This has happened 3 times over the last 2 years. But I do love the atmosphere and the service is great.

Great midweek deals Steak sandwich and beer $20 can't go wrong

Allawah Pub used to be great. They used to have great service as well as CHEAP food. Now the prices have gone up CONSIDERABLY and the portions have gotten smaller with service that is as good as mcdonalds drive through. Us locals are fed up with this nuisance. The people of Allawah have been let down.

Always a fun night out with girls. Especially on Wednesday Triva night. Good pub food with fun and games.

Food was nice, could have a wider selection.

Our food order was the steak and beer deal and the chicken bites. Steak was cook the way i liked and ordered. However, the chicken bites weee very dry and needed more of the chilli sauce. Staff where great and helpful. We then ordered the chicken wings, these were way better than the chicken bites.

Popular pub, with well priced pub meals. Great friendly staff.

food is actually pretty nice, merivale owned so it’s a little expensive but worth it for some different style pub foods. Asian influence menu, vibe is still your traditional pub. Great for a feed and watching the footy

Really nice place for a large group. We had the salt and pepper squid and it was great. Our friends had an order of wedges and it is a good portion. Enough for at least 2 people to share.

Good

First visit for lunch and what a great experience. Firstly, must commend the very friendly and helpful staff. We had the beef and guinness pie (daily special) served with mash, peas and gravy, and the Sunday beef roast served with Yorkshire pudding (perfect), roast potatoes, peas, green beans and broccoli (lots of great gravy). Both dishes delicious and generous. My only criticism would be why serve 3 green veggies with the roast? Swap out one for either pumpkin or carrots. Can't wait to return.

They water down their tomato sauce with soda water or similar? That’s pretty tight Justin 😂 I shook the tomato sauce bottle to put sauce on my chips, but when I opened the bottle, sauce exploded all over me! The young man behind the bar was very apologetic and helpful, but this is pretty lousy for a Merivale hotel considering their pricing. When opening the sauce here, make sure you aim it away from yourself and family/friends.

We love eating here. I have never ordered food and ever have I been disappointed. The staff are always happy, friendly and accommodating. We have two kids and the kids meals are good and they have colouring in sheets supplied to keep them busy. Nice all round.

I frequent the hotel on a regular basis. One of the other regular patrons organised a birthday party in the upstairs area. After a mix up (not caused by the hotel), his party was cancelled. Janaya, one of the bar staff, organised a small cake and candle for him (paid for out of her own pocket) and got the other regular patrons to sing Happy Birthday to him. This really made him happy after having such a bad day. Well done Janaya.

Good menu variety for a pub. The small nibbles (wings, wedges) were good. Generous portion.

A poor experience for a special day. We had 10 people on a Saturday for lunch. The food was ok. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table. Only one glass was drunk. When leaving we asked to have the wine capped so we could take it home. They refused and banned us from coming back. Under the liquor act they are obligated to cap the wine but these guys were intimidating. We won't be back.

Service is very quick if they ate not nusy
