5 Stars - Vibe
Caught up with mates post their wedding for lunch. Excellent service and delicious food. The Reuben was yum!
Used to be a great pub
One of the few pubs left intact in Adelaide, have been here many times over the years. It’s a rite of passage for every generation 👌🏻
Nice place to have a drink in Rundle Street
Great venue 😃
Lovely pub to have lunch or a drink. 👍
A great old school pub with friendly staff, decent wine list and I'll be back to eat the mushroom gnocchi next time it's on the menu. Either way they have excellent hot chips!
A fave haunt.
It's the Exeter. It's an institution
Arrived as a group of 4 (double date) at 7:30pm on a Saturday night for a drink after holy moley and were turned away by the security guards for being on a ‘pub crawl’.
A vibe also open late.
Lots of character, with original buildings left, yet it doesn't attract rough crowds. Very sophisticated vibe, and the bar staff were friendly and professional. Maybe an upgrade to the toilet would up a notch!!
When I'm in Adelaide I always go out of my way to have a pale ale at the Ex. The pub that sets the standard for what a pub should be.
Very limited range of beer. Service is average.
One of the last pubs in Adelaide to retain a clear sense of atmosphere and culture that reaches back into the murky past and embraces the future as well. It’s not for everyone, but I love it - not just for the space itself, which has barely changed down the decades, but also for the drinks list and the food. It has a character that might not appeal to everyone, but if you don’t mind rough edges and an attitude, you will love this place.
Perfect spot for post test analysis..crisp cool beers..great service and a great atmosphere
Fabulous 😍
Beer I got was warm and flat that happens no biggie two mouthfuls in I asked for a freshinup got ingnorance and an arhsole senior bar tender Didn't cause a seen I left. Adelaide local been drinking there on and of my whole adult life always return when I'm in the city. That's my last time! Lift your game!
Go to this pub if you want to go to a proper pub
Great pub with friendly staff and good food. We'll be visiting again before the end of our trip.
Jake the security guard saved my life. I'm sorry for disappearing Jake, I promise I got home safe and I appreciate you.
Classic old pub. Hasn't changed, still good beer. Great wine menu.
Melbourne Cup lunch on the balcony - pretty good. Steaks with Hot English Mustard served in a patè cup, enough for a table of 12, clearly the kitchen staff don’t know what Hot English Mustard is. Small observation but I feel for the owners. Total waste of product…
Solid old school pub with great atmosphere & original non ponsie vibe.
Recommended it to my daughter she just messaged me said the bar attendant was a jerk. Do better!!
Lovely old school hotel. A dying bed. My favourite Adelaide pub 👌
Great old Adelaide pub..no pokies,TAB or keno.. just good company, great food & beverages..Kev & his staff there are joyous to be around..👍🏾🎼🦘
Basic pub with basic food. We just stopped in for lunch as we were walking past, and the service was great. There wasn't a huge selection of food, but I was keen on the barramundi. Food came out quickly, but I found it to be just ok. I probably wouldn't seek this place out again for that reason, but it could be good for drinks and it might go off on a Saturday night!
Staff are fantastic always quick and kind service, the only reason I would give this pub a 4 stars is because the drinks are a wee bit expensive but they also almost never allow large group pub crawls in which is always appreciated when you're just trying to relax and have a drink!
Quirky little pub...unchanged since I was last here in the 1980's
Food was great and generous portion size, could not fault the service I was given by Gabby. I will definitely be back again.
Great food, not expensive. Friendly staff, always welcoming.
Top pub, great food, nice to sit on walkway for a drink too..recomend do come here..
Great Reuben and Schnitzel with Mushroom gravy. Cooper's Vintage Ale on tap was lovely!
The Exeter is easily the most welcoming and comforting pub to have as your community. From their EXCELLENT house bubbles, authentic surroundings and kind staff to the entertaining graffiti on the bathroom walls, it will quickly become your favourite place to escape. A classic pub, where the only bullshit is the conversation you might overhear from the next table.
Love it. The beating heart of Adelaide. Cleanskins shiraz forever.
It would be five star if they fixed the male toilet that has been blocked up for the last two weeks. Health and safety issue.
Great spot for a pint! 🍻 The Exitor Hotel pub offers a cool, covered outdoor setting just behind the bar area. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the Cooper's beers on tap are always cold and fresh. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a lively atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon.
Tucked away in Adelaide, this hotel pub is an absolute gem that stands out for its cool atmosphere and impressive beer selection. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, inviting ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between modern chic and classic pub charm. The decor is tastefully done, with cozy corners and stylish seating areas that make it easy to relax and unwind. Whether you're there for a casual drink or a night out with friends, the vibe is always spot on. The lighting is just right—not too dim, not too bright—and there's a laid-back buzz in the air that makes you want to stay for hours. What really sets this place apart, though, is the beer. The selection is fantastic, featuring a mix of local craft brews and well-known favorites. Whether you're a fan of crisp lagers, hoppy IPAs, or rich stouts, there's something on tap to suit your taste. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about their beers, always ready to recommend something new or pour you a perfectly chilled pint. Overall, this hotel pub is a must-visit if you're in Adelaide. It's got the perfect combination of atmosphere, service, and top-notch drinks that makes for an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won't be disappointed!
Never change. Rightfully an Adelaide institution.
Having been to quite a few pubs in England, I can safely say the Exeter is the most authentic pub in Adelaide. The architecture, art, table arrangement, drinks on offer were all very welcomed. The crowd was rather friendly and mature. This will be my goto pub when visiting the CBD.
Locale molto easy dove il sabato suonano dal vivo. Sembra un vero pub inglese. Fish and chips buonissimo
My fave pub in the world.
$5 for a soda water - rip off.
Best pub in Adelaide hands down
The best Rueben sandwich in SA
If you find yourself in Adelaide craving the epitome of wing perfection, look no further than this venue. Their wing night is an absolute triumph, though I do recommend placing your order well in advance to avoid any unforeseen disappointments. While the quality of their other menu items may fluctuate on different evenings, one cannot deny the certainty of a flawless wing night experience. It is a culinary oasis amidst variability. The pub itself is a delightful local haunt, boasting a commendable array of Australian beers. When the winter chill descends and the fire crackles merrily, it transforms into a sanctuary for meaningful conversations and cozy camaraderie.
Love Elke so much!! best bartender ive ever had!! beautiful service & person!!
Great pub.
Atmosphere and overall environment was lovely and enjoyable to be around, however my friends and I were abused and kicked out by a bartender in a matter of seconds under false pretenses. Sincerely hope if I go once more I do not meet the man responsible again.
Just a great traditional iconic Adelaide pub. Highly recommend a visit
Small range of beers, but good spot for a catchup.
Whenever I come home to Adelaide, I make a bee line for The Exeter to remind me of just how timeless experiences can be. The floorboards, panelling & wood fridges should be heritage listed. It can be a band venue, a pub meal that changes to the chef's discretion, or a bar stool perch like which I'm on now, in my own space, but open to random banter. My favourite Adelaide pub by a mile.
oi ..I only gav a 2 ⭐ ..cause it was so QUiET 😂 ,so just a coupla brews ..THo ..the WHOLE world seems a tad quiet lately ..STiLL luv the X
Bargain, loved every minute. The staff are super friendly and make you feel at home. Cant wait to visit again. Close to everything, including the beach and shops Porkies open 8am including the bar :) Accommodation has everything including a renovated bathroom, complimentary drinks , bottle water, soft drink cans. Honestly it was more luxurious then some apartments in the city. If you a travelling solo for business, I definitely recommend.
nice
I love that it hasn't changed since I started going there in the 90s! I would love to have some more interesting beers available, though.
I would recommend for lunch if you are along Rundle Street.
Good music and good drinks
