Mortdale RSL

Located at 25 Macquarie Place, Mortdale, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. A great little club to come to with family and friends for a good catch up and a delicious meal. It’s only a 5-10 minute walk from Mortdale Train 🚆 Station and there’s also a bus 🚌 stop just across the road. Every Monday and Wednesday Night from 5.30pm until 6.30pm, there is Happy Hour at the Bar. Morty’s Bistro offers a great selection of dishes for very reasonable prices. I have always enjoyed my meals there and the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Every Monday, there is a Schnitty and Schooner deal for $18 and every Wednesday there’s the Classic Parmi Deal for $18. On Sunday, you can get the Sunday Roast for $22. Every Sunday, there is a Meat Raffle with tickets on sale from 5.00pm. There’s also a Meat Raffle on Fridays with tickets on sale from 6.00pm. Every Wednesday, there’s Music 🎶 Bingo from 6.00pm and it’s FREE to play. There is very good parking 🅿️ right next to the club. I would definitely recommend a visit to this great club! Sensational food, and well priced.

$18 jumbo parmigiana on Wed. It didn't disappoint. It was done properly, the breast was pounded thin like a proper parmi. Cheese had great colour and caramelized flavor. The batter was crispy all the way to the end of the meal. This is a feat in itself. Normally the steam would make the underside of a parmi soggy, but this Parmi was crispy all the way to the last bite. I don't know how they did it. The chips likewise is crispy to the end of the meal. I didn't have any soggy chips. Salad had bean sprouts, which meant the management really wanted to go the extra mile. For the steam veggy lovers, my partner notes there was bok Choi in the mix of steamed veggies. Again another surprise. It was our first time in the RSL club, it was pretty empty upstairs. There is also a children's section which is great. I'd say this is the best chips I've had since moving to Mortdale last month. Unsure why the place is quiet, but if you're young and want a good parmi on Wednesday night. This is the place to be. Can't wait to try out the rest of the menu. Just note theres no dessert on the menu, so keep in mind to maybe pick up dessert else where. —-------- Fast-forward one week later. Had the steak with chips. Solid steak, cooked properly. Not many options for sauce, hence had to crack my own pepper. However it is solid.

Had a birthday party here and enjoyed myself. The food was great and the function area provided us with ample room to dance and congregate. Would recommend to others. Thank you!

It's the most scummest and rudest club ever. I will never step foot inside that club again they need to get rid of management or close the club down permanently . It's not only me that dislikes the club ,if you can call it that. People gossip , especially a couple of ppl I know , they make it the sleeziest club ever.🤮😡🤮

Great atmosphere and food

Went here for an event once. Found the staff to be pretty friendly and nice, however the place was getting a bit worn down. No acoustic/sound-proofing at all within the event/board room upstairs though sadly.

Used to attend the club a couple of nights weekly. But after a few bad experiences in the bistro (hr+ waits, meals under cooked) took a break from the venue. Thought I'd give them another go today. Ordered a meal and asked to use my points to pay, with the staff requesting a dollar to pay the difference. From a $5 note I received $2 change. When asking for the other $2 the staff told me they made an error and redeemed the wrong amount of points. I asked they reprocess the transaction with the correct points redemption, at which point the bistro manager came over and starts screaming at me that it's too late. I get wait times can be long during busy times, and meals can sometimes not be cooked right. But there is no excuse for the manager to scream at customers, especially when it was one of their own team that stuffed up. I gave two stars because the staff down stairs are always great.

Great food and great wrestling entertainment

Pretty poor atmosphere for a cheap quiet meal. Kitchen staff, shouting at each other. Music playing in the eating area and kitchen staff blasting their own music over it.

Prawn pasta was excellent. Service by all the staff is fantastic.

I've eaten lots of times in the bistro, staff are so friendly and helpful. Food is always well priced and whatever you order it is always delicious.. Great food. Playroom for the kids

Excellent value, abit dated surrounds but all part of the real RSL experience.

Friendly and a great place to eat and drink.

If want a great meal, cold drink, family friendly RSL, this place is it. Great variety of meals, great prices, portions fill you up, like most RSLs 😉. Will be back again and again and there is a child friendly room in eyesight of the bistro for the little ones to run amuck in.

This is a small club with a pleasant bistro. The bistro has a reasonable menu with good size meals which are very tasty. The service provided in the bistro was very friendly and efficient. The club is looking a bit old and tired inside and had signs of a few water leaks through the ceiling.

Went there for a Mother's day group of 12 and honestly not my first option...to be frank not inside my first 20 pics. But after trying other potential places to eat and not finding either bookings or not taking reservations whatsoever l made a booking. SO, having said all that, it's probably 2 or 3 years since l was at the Mortdale RSL and while the de or has not changes one bit, the food l am surprised to say has gotten better. With 12 people eating you are odds on that something would be a bit dodgy. Not the case here. All l saw leaving the table was empty plates. Is it fancy food? No it is not, but what they serve is good old fashioned pub grub. Nothing wrong with it as long as you know going in what it is your getting. Our entrees which were Haloumi chips, garlic bread and salt and pepper squid were not only delicious but to our table in 5 minutes which was awesome. Several different steaks were had and all were great and nothing but bone remained on 4 plates. Tried the Ribs and they were excellent. All in all an excellent result. Prices were average for the area and l really have no reason to not recommend it. Good for larger bookings as the place is pretty big.

Over the years this place has changed, still a good venue to visit.

Had my 21st birthday party at their function room. Jackie, Tony and the rest of the function team were great to work with throughout the entire experience. When I had to postpone due to COVID 2 days before the party, it was very quick and easy to organise a new date at no extra cost and they even gave me a call just to check up on how I was feeling. The party ran very smoothly in the end and they were very accommodating with the menu for people who had dietary requirements. I would highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a venue to host a birthday party or other function.

Food a bit expensive. Old school RSL but ok Edit march 2022 food prices not increased since last post and have deals on certain nights.

AJ and the team at morts are always spot on. They never miss a beat with their food and service and are always accomodating to menu modifications. Even in these tough times they continue to serve and uphold their same standards. The food quality is a hidden goldmine in the suburbs.

Morts Grill massive let down never ordering from this place again !! Extremely disappointing ordered via doordash missed half our order and when we called to tell them, they made out as if we didn’t know what we were talking about Extremely rude and poor service we also had to drive all the way out to pick up the missing items disgusting service never again!!

Visited for the first time on Anzac day (lest we forget). We immediately appreciated the pool table, the *attempt* at two up, and the reasonably priced beverages. The mortdale locals welcomed us with open arms and we quickly found ourselves ensconced in conversation with an individual named The Colonel". A delightful experience for those seeking a low key environment to remember the fallen in a festive manner."

What a fantastic little find this club is! Had a wonderful day there for lunch and to see Ian Blakeney in concert! He is a smashing performer and lovely young man! I can recommend to you dear readers to give Mortdale a go you will be happily surprised like I was. Well done Mortdale RSL! I'll be making ny way to you again in the future.
