The Sharks Leagues Club Redevelopment

The Sharks Leagues Club has officially closed its doors ahead of a major refurbishment and redevelopment, marking the end of an era in the history of the Sharks. Work has now commenced on the major redevelopment, which will transform the home of the Sharks into a facility set to be the envy of all NRL clubs.

The current building will be gutted, leaving a blank canvas from which to work, with the final product expected to be something Sharks members will be proud of. The Leagues Club will be rebuilt on the top two floors and half the basement level out to the ground. The third floor will be the main operating floor and will include a bistro, cafe, 1800 square metre alfresco deck overlooking Woolooware Bay, a gaming area, and a chairman’s lounge. The top floor will predominantly feature conference and function rooms, with the largest catering for 550 people.

While many memories have been created on the playing field, almost as much history surrounds the Leagues Club itself. From celebrating big wins, such as the Grand Final victory party of 2016, to supporting the Sharks and enjoying time with family, friends, and other members and fans, the Sharks Leagues Club has been a home away from home and has meant a lot to many people.

In the interim, the Sharks hope to soon finalise the amalgamation with the Kareela Golf Club, as they look to give Sharks members a new home, both for the next few years and into the future. It’s the end of one era, with an exciting new chapter about to be written.

We will update you with the development progress and communicate information to all our members. For any enquiries, please contact: 9521 5555.

Kareela Amalgamation – Member Information

The key documentation has been signed with Moorebank Sports Club Limited (“Sporties”) in relation to the proposed amalgamation that would see Sharks take ownership and control of Sporties @ Kareela Golf Club. As a result, the Sharks are now at the stage of seeking member and regulatory approval of the amalgamation.

A Notice of General Meeting will be issued shortly to Sharks Leagues Club members, setting out the date, time, and place that a General Meeting of members will be held to consider the proposed amalgamation.

The Sharks also take this opportunity to reinforce the fact that its interest in Sporties @ Kareela Golf Club is long-term and not only for the period of the Sharks Leagues Club closure and redevelopment. Sharks will continue to own and operate the Sporties @ Kareela Golf Club following the opening of the redeveloped Sharks Leagues Club in two years’ time. This will, in the long-term, result in multiple venues in the Sutherland Shire for Sharks members to enjoy in the years ahead.

Further to the above, a Member Notice, in accordance with Clause 5 – Notification to Club Members of the Registered Clubs Regulation 2015 and 17AE of the Registered Club Act 1976, has been posted on the Sharks Leagues Club website and noticeboard. A copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Sharks, Sporties, and Sporties Kareela Temporary Company Limited, as required by the Registered Clubs Act and setting out the key aspects of the proposed amalgamation, has also been made available to members and can be viewed by going to the below link.

The Directors of Sharks unanimously support the proposed amalgamation and recommend it for approval by members at the forthcoming General Meeting.

Great atmosphere, facility and service

We went to Sharks at Kareela as the Sharks Leagues Club is non-existent at present. Kareela club is great

Ignore me, I just don't like the Sharks...🤣🤣🤣

Great place to relax

Same old huge line ups for food and (overpriced and uninspiring) Beers. Can do much better Sharkies!!!! Pick it up please....

Good shopping plenty of choices

Forget Scomo and robo debt can you believe this football team is going to play semi finals with rubbish defence. Week 1 exit.

Very quiet 😊 Is closed

Not open

good experience

Cant wait until the new extensions are finished

An amazing place.

Expensive beer 🍺

Should be good after construction is done

Tried the Chinese food at the Sharks club and was amazed at how nice it was. I've tasted alot of Chinese food in my day and it's one of my favorite cuisines withe endless varieties. The crispy chicken was done the way I like it. Not over dry, and plenty of juice in the meat. Service is not something I associate when dining Chinese, but this place offers exceptional service. Waiter staff was very well spoken and really delivers a knockout punch with the ice cream at the end. 6 stars!

Closed for Renovations as of Sunday, 15 December 2019. Estimated time to reopen is 2 years. Hope to see a bigger and modern Leagues Club. I guess, until then.

Sharks Leagues Club is Closed for renovations from 16th December 2019 for approximately 2 years

Not as good as the bulldogs club but still good

Very disappointed with the Chinese Restaurant

Excellent surf and turf tonight. Chef did very well with the steak.

Nice place, food was good and cheap 2 for 1 special.

Great food and atmosphere

Great meal & atmosphere. Lots of memorabilia

Unreal

Very long drink queues only two bars open,

Not enough bars open on game day. Food was good but you got a thimble of gravy with the schnitzel which was nowhere near enough.

good experience

Don't understand why tables can be reserved for just two people?

Attended a seminar grow with google. Lovely set up.

Food very nice. The atmosphere very homey. We saw all the Shark players.

Always good.we love the food at sharks

poor

Very ordinary

Bistro food really good. Had to go to cafe to order coffee. Staff member took my coffee to my table

Great Feed and helpful staff with courtesy bus home.

Nice food very helpful for hurt or disabled people very kind to my injured father and overall great service with a large variety of food

The best in the shire

Love it plenty to do & eat

I inspect kitchens as part of my job. There's a lot of places I won't go. You could eat off the floor of sharks kitchen. In my opinion, a bunch of people offering the best they can, and doing a good job.

All round a nice club anytime of the day👍

Excellent food and friendly service

No outdoor dining area, what a waste
