(PSA) It was a conference event of 60 people. We arrived to no host/hostess at reception. when we arrived she made a comment on needing to 'help the bar'. Apart from the bar not having enough staff for our event and other patrons, we were seated on the 'Glasshouse' encloused outdoor area that had Retractable Roofs including the beer garden. This was impressive until we got the old summer storm in Sydney, the staff acted quickly and closed it as fast as possible. (It was reopened after said slight storm). The food in question was a banquet of antipasto for starters and the mains included beef Ragu and pizza of different types (they have a mother of the mozzarella, very tasty). All in all it was a decent evening but you can get way more bang for your buck elsewhere.

Saturday lunch and it just must have been too early. The food was ordinary and the place had the atmosphere of my shoe.

We recently hosted a memorable Service Recognition Dinner to honour 27 of our incredible team members. The evening was nothing short of exceptional, set in an intimate private dining space where every detail, from the thoughtfully curated menu to the seamless organization which was handled with care. The staff went above and beyond, ensuring a warm and attentive experience throughout the night. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves. A heartfelt thank you to the team for making the night so special—we’ll certainly be back to relive the experience!

After a long hiatus, I found myself at the Governor Hotel a week ago. While the full menu downstairs is still not available, the exceptional service I received from Alice, Roon, and Mason completely blew me away. It all started with Alice—a young woman who truly embodies customer service. She greeted me warmly, asked about my day, and inquired whether I had been to the hotel before. I shared how the Governor used to be my regular spot until they removed some crowd favorites—especially the deconstructed chicken tacos. I only returned because I had a meeting nearby. Alice listened attentively, apologized for the past changes, poured my drink, and led me to my table. I thought nothing more of it. To my surprise, a few minutes later, Alice returned with a specially made serving of chicken tacos—on the house! She explained that she had spoken to the chef and the team, who were more than happy to oblige. I was genuinely taken aback. The fact that she not only remembered my story but also took the initiative to talk to the kitchen, and that the chef and his team went out of their way to make the dish just for me—that level of service is something I have never experienced in Australia in all my years here. The tacos were delicious, but what impressed me most was their dedication to making one customer feel valued. It reminded me of the Governor Hotel’s old charm—the warmth and care they once had for their patrons. Alice continued to serve us flawlessly, ensuring our glasses of wine were never empty, always wearing a genuine, heartfelt smile. She clearly takes pride in her work, and I have no doubt she will go far in her career. A special thank you to Alice, Roon, and Mason—you guys are truly amazing. To the Governor management: Do not lose Alice, Roon, and Mason. They are the reason I have returned four or five times in the past week and even brought my entire team for lunch last week. Thank you for the outstanding service, delicious food, and for restoring my belief in true hospitality. I was there today, and you’ll be seeing a lot more of me from now on. Cheers!

We had lunch there on weekend. Food is average and expensive, and no service considering the price.

Have been to The Gov several times and love the venue. Recently had the delight of eating the Chicken Katsu curry OMG! You must try this dish, comfort food at its finest! So so delicious what a meal!!! Absolute compliments to the chef and team who created it! Special shoutout to Roof top staff Prawesh for being attentive, kind and friendly and Elana in the bar, she’s a vibe! Absolutely loved her energy, she was so much fun to interact with!

Having had a disappointing experience for dinner there and responding to there how was your experience. They said they would contact me well still waiting. One of my go to places now struck off the list.

The Governor's Hotel is a fantastic spot for drinks! Their selection of beverages is impressive, with a great variety of cocktails, wines, and beers that cater to every taste. The atmosphere is lively and perfect for catching up with friends or unwinding after a long day. The only downside is the limited food options. While what’s available is delicious, a bit more variety on the menu would make the experience even better.

Went to dinner on Tuesday and Megan found us a table and was super helpful! Made the experience of the gov amazing!!

We ordered a vegetarian burger and we had to wait for more than 30 min for it being served. They missed to transfer the order to kitchen. It was only when we enquired, it was then ordered to kitchen and served . By that time all other guests were finished and ready to leave Food quality and ambience is good

Food quality and portions were great. Atmosphere was also good with a variety of different sitting setup. Great for large groups. Only issue is the parking within the premises but there are ample parking on the road and across the hotel

Perfect way to spend Christmas eve with family. Had large relaxed spaces allowing kids to have their space and adults to also have a good catchup.The Korean Fried Chicken were delicious

A big Thank You to Paddy and the Team at The Governor Hotel for making our Christmas party a fantastic day on the rooftop terrace. The table, food and drink service were excellent. I organised a work Christmas party on the rooftop at the Governor on Friday night. The food, the staff and the atmosphere was fabulous. I cannot thank Mason the manager enough for his kindness and hospitality!! He made the night, we’ll definitely be back.

This place is absolutely chockers with corporate office lunches. Place has been booked out for weeks yet they have minimum staff behind the bar (level 1). Right now there must be 60+ people waiting to be served their arrogance is palpable.

The food, service and the atmosphere are great here. However, if you are ordering any cocktails, expect to be packed with icecubes, soft drink downed, tasteless drinks. Better order to beer or wine etc. What an unfortunate disappointment...and waste of money...

The place has a pretty cool setup. 2nd floor is basically and adult arcade with alcohol and DJ setup. 1 floor bistro is nice but we had the occasional drip of water on us from a pipe and the food was okay. Just maybe a but more seasoning.

Every staff member was attentive, the food was fabulous and my birthday cocktail amazing. Thank you for making me feel so special. 10/10 !!!!

There's limited parking available, so you may need to find off street parking nearby. Food is so so. Cocktails are average. There are plenty of seats. Good for having a beer catchup with friends at late night.
