My waiter was awesome. The food was really good. All in all no complaints from me. always love eating here👍
As always, the place and service are outstanding. Dan needs special mention :)
Food was very lovely, wasn’t too much for vegetarians but the service was absolutely lovely - Dan was a pleasure, very accomodating and made our experience memorable :)
Everything we ordered this time was fresh and delicious! We especially loved the soft shell crab roll and cuttlefish nigiri—so much that we ordered them again! The staff was friendly, the environment was comfortable, and we could decide the pace of our meal, which was great. Most importantly, the price and portion sizes were reasonable. We recommend making a reservation in advance. We’ll definitely be back!
We stayed at the star for Father’s Day and made the mistake of not booking a restaurant for dinner. Despite being fully booked the Maître’d made a few calls and found us a table. Dan our waiter was exceptional, very attentive and knowledgeable on the food so provided a lot of excellent recommendations. We had the sashimi platter which was absolutely divine but the knockout of the park was the lobster tempura and the Wagye steak with broccolini absolutely to die for. We loved it so much we went back tonight for my birthday dinner and you know your waiter is superb when he not only remembered you but also your drink order and how you have it. That’s next level detail. If you love Japanese food you will love Kyomi and make sure you ask for Dan’s section
the food is absolutely divine! the spicy tuna crispt rice is a must try!
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Kiyomi last night. Our waiter Joshua was delightful. He encouraged us to try dishes we probably would not have chosen. The food was scrumptious. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
Kiyomi offers an exceptional Japanese fusion dining experience. The Mooloolaba Prawn Toast was a standout. For mains, the Wagyu Scotch 400g was an absolute revelation, The first bite was an explosion of flavor—rich, buttery, and intensely savory, with the signature marbling of the Wagyu melting effortlessly on the tongue. The modern yet cozy ambiance and attentive service made the meal even more enjoyable. A must-visit for Japanese fusion lovers! 10/10!
Food was beautifully prepared and served. Staff were very friendly and tentative. Deserts were amazing! We loved it thank you
We just stopped in at the bar for a drink before dinner, and the bar staff were so friendly that I had to leave a review. The drinks were really interesting and beautiful.
In a way it reminds me of Sokyo at home in Sydney. Because I’m comparing it to that, I find Kiyomi normal. But if you’re visiting the Gold Coast then definitely try because it’s probably the best Japanese restaurant at the Goldie and located conveniently at the star. Atmosphere was Cousy and where we were seated allowed a conversation to be had without noise.
My name is kiyomi!!!!?
Came here for my husbands birthday. We ordered the omakase menu. Definitely not the cheapest option, but it was the most luxurious meal I have ever eaten. The quality and execution was top tier in my humble opinion and the food was plentiful. The kingfish ceviche and the tempura bug were delicious, and so pleasantly surprised by the caramel macchiato. The service was excellent and the wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Perfect way to spend a special occasion.
The most of worst restaurant Bad quality food law fish stinky and bad hospitality services I never going to there
Food: 5 Service: 4.5 Atmosphere: 4.5 Bang for Buck: $110pp Certified Delish: 93% Whilst in the sunny coast with a strong craving for Japanese, Kiyomi answered our prayers. Hidden away in the Star, this restaurant is a much try. From the edamame to the sushi rolls, the food was absolutely delicious. The staple was definitely the miso glazed toothfish that melted in your mouth. And to finish the Donatsu is a must get for those sweet tooth fanatics. Seefood sensational.
Had a fabulous night out here. Food was absolutely delicious and service was outstanding. I have a MSG allergy so they bent over backwards to accommodate and made special dishes for me. Highly recommend this place. We will be back again soon.
we had a very delicious meal, the best japanese meal I ever head. The tuna sashimi with plum wine jelly is very creative, wagyu beefsirloin with sea urchin is very tasty too. other sashimi of scampi is also nice. the oysters with very special sauces,2 types of it are very nice and delicious too all the dishes are so creative ,fresh and delicious
We had a chef’s selection dinner which was fantastic, the best Japanese dinner ever. The tempura Morton Bay bugs, caramelised miso paste Patagonia toothfish grilled, scampi sashimi, duck breast, and desserts were so delicious. Head Chef Winson Law had taken so much effort in creating fabulous sauces! We were so lucky that sea urchin was in season! Will fly to Gold Coast again just to dine at Kiyomi!
Had dinner tonight and was very disappointed with the service. No one attended to us.Had to call someone passing by.Plates were cleared while somebody was still eating st the table.
Honestly the best nigiri I’ve had with caviar and bubbles on the side. Better than ones I have had in Tokyo. Great staff and friendly service. Thank you
Went here for our anniversary dinner and it didn’t disappoint! Service was awesome, and food was incredible. The wagyu old fashioned was different but very good. We will definitely be back. The menu was big so we want to try more!
Ordered the set menu for 2, and a big kudos to the chefs as it was the best culinary experience we have ever had! The staff as well were very friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere complements the vibe of restaurant very well. The place is a must-try for anyone who wants to have a leisurely night out!!
Perfection. Delicious and Elegant. Entice yourself with the most perfectly small portions amazing Japanese food.
Set menu, no memorable dish. Left confused, and dissatisfied.
Yuichi made our experience the best. Excellent service from him. Very good food as well.
I was surprised at how lovely my experience at the restaurant was. I wasn’t too keen on making a limited-time booking as this dinner was to celebrate my birthday but it was fine as the dishes were served quite quickly. Each dish was so creatively delicious and presented so excitedly by the staff that I couldn’t help but taste the passion that went into each one. I was glad we were seated in a booth as that made our meal a little more special. The staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcome. I was so happy with dinner that I, a non-tipper, actually willingly left a tip. A must-try if you like Japanese food.
A really exceptional authentic Japanese restaurant offering a wide range of delicious delicacies to choose from. I had visited on a quiet Wednesday evening for dinner and specifically tried most of the vegetarian options they had to offer and I was thoroughly impressed. From the beautiful food presentation and the vibrant flavours to the spotless hygiene standards and impeccable service. The attention to detail in each plate was clear, and the staff ensured a memorable experience. Kyomi is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic and satisfying Japanese meal. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!
The front staff (Japanese women) is rude, Until we spend over $350, we finally got her smile 👽 We was told no available seats at 6:30pm, and let us wait until 8pm , is fine cause of we no booking. When we arrive again at 8pm , she let us wait for them cleaning the table. But when we go inside the restaurant actually is much empty tables…..
One of my favourite places to go that’s high end
Food was amazing and the service from Dan made the experience exceptional. Someone give that man a raise! We walked out very SATISFIED, hands down one of the best dining experiences on the Gold Coast.
Kiyomi is one of the best Japanese restaurants on the Gold Coast! The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is top-notch. I highly recommend trying the sashimi platter and the delicious Miso Glazed Toothfish!
The best meal and service ever. Each dish was better than the last. Dan was the best server and couldn’t do enough for us !! Just unbelievable.
Second time visiting and as usual the service and food is impeccable. The attentiveness of the waiters through to the presentation of meals was top shelf.
If you're a lover of top quality seafood, this is the place for you. A genuine Japanese experience with food that you'll be thinking about long after you leave. The flavors, the textures, everything was made with a dedication and passion.
Another favourite Japanese restaurant we go to when we feel like spoiling ourselves. Can't fault anything about this place. The food is always fresh and taste as delicious and amazing as it looks and the service impeccable. We always have a great experience every time we are here.
Food was tasty enough but very overpriced for what it is. I've had the same quality and equal tasting food if not better elsewhere and at reasonable prices. Also its the casino and they couldn't make me a bloody mary!!!
Une expérience exceptionnelle. Une cuisine raffinée, je conseil fortement. Le menu Omakase complet et parfait poir découvrir et à partager pour 2 personnes. Ce lieu représente le côté raffiné japonais sur Broadbeach.
Nayisa was so lovely and the food was awesome!
The service was impeccable, and highly attentive - from the front desk staff to the server - Alice. Food was incredible. We will defiantly be back.
Our last night here and we finished with an excellent meal under Daniel’s friendly and knowledgeable service. If you want to treat yourself I can highly recommend the chefs selection and let Daniel take you through the wonderful sake options, especially if you’re a bit of a sake novice like me!
Dan, your level of service is impeccable! You really made our experience one to remember last night at Kiyomi with your service and knowledge of the food. Thank you for having us, we can’t wait to return. The menu here is designed as a tapas style of dining. We worked our way through many of the items on the menu and could not fault one of them. Just brilliant.
The Sashimi platter was just heavenly. The seafood was so fresh and melted in your mouth. Every bite more delicious than the lat. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely a restaurant for special occasions.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. Dan was exceptionally attentive, enhancing our experience. The Wagyu Tartare was outstanding—truly the highlight of the evening. The ambiance and service were impeccable, making it a memorable celebration. Highly recommend this spot for a special night out!
Wonderful experience with the perfect level of attention and customer service.. Thank you.
Food was amazing, great service from Ramdhan.
The staff Pam she is really amazing !!
Returned after 2 years and stoked to have Dan serving us again. Best service in broadbeach I reckon! Good recommendations, attentive and accomodating to offering alternatives for my 2 years old toddler! Will be back again!
Thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my birthday with a lovely dinner at Kiyomi. The food was delicious and the service from our waiter Stephen was fun and friendly. They were also kind enough to write 'Happy Birthday' with chocolate for my dessert. Very kind of them. Would highly recommend Kiyomi for a dinner for any occasion.
I would recommend this place I was there with my partner and I love the food it’s the best
Better than Nobu. This Japanese restaurant is amazing. The food is incredible. You do have to book as it will book out quickly. As in house guests, Monday night dining can be quite limiting. Mr Chu and the Italian restaurant was closed. We ate the previous night at the dumpling place, and Harvest is just an awful animals lining up for cafeteria food. We had a child with us so we could not go to the food quater. 19 at the darling is also closed. The cafe was our only option and that had zero people dining. Aymeric was amazing in eventually getting us a table, as the only booking at 815 was too late for our child. The chefs were amazing, we sat at the sushi bar, and watched their meticulous work, but the service was a bit flat. We had three dishes before we had to ask where the beer we ordered was. Then when given the bill, they didn’t even put the two beers on the bill. I wonder how many other people got the bill adjusted or got free drinks tonight?
Over-rated and should not advertise itself as omakase. This isn't the typical omakase experience you experience in Japan or Melbourne. We dined here tonight and asked the waitress to be seated at the bar so we could watch the sushi chef prepare the dishes but she advised the omakase here is not your usual omakase as the dishes are prepared in the kitchen except the sushi platter. She was correct- it was just a set menu. We were disappointed with the quality of the dishes and the service for the price paid. The appetisers were too sour, and there was a bone in the salmon Sashimi! That's unacceptable as it's a choking hazard! The Moreton bay bug, wagyu and lamb was ok, nothing special. The best dish was the sushi platter which were four pieces each and the whisky dessert. I would recommend you spend your money elsewhere, go to Palette Restaurant instead for an amazing fine dining experience where you will get better food and service and it's cheaper too!
Met Jason super nice waiter polite and thoughtful, I had a really nice birthday dinner here
We chose to sit at the sushi prep station and watched everyone's food get made. Turned out the most elaborate one was what we ordered, the 24 piece sashimi platter. Delicious! The fried rice tuna sushi, tempura vegetables, and matcha ice cream were also yummy.
Fantastic service and amazing food! Loved everything we ate, sashimi plate was a showstopper with dry ice! Friendly staff made bringing along our baby too easy and enjoyable.
Fantastic Food and Staff, parking close. Worth it! Well priced for quality.
Dissapointed in this restaurant, the food was underwhelming and had to call the waitress to get her attention to order. Not the flavour hit we were looking for and will stick with Yamagen in future.
Unbelievably fresh food, taste sensation, but very pricey
Komiyui has hands down one of the BEST omakase experience we’ve had in Brisbane! 🫶🏻 Signature 5 course: - sashimi of the day - foie gras chawanmushi & nori crunch - MB9+ wagyu sirloin - premium nigiri set - ice cream sandwich “Monaka” - tea/coffee Every course was a masterpiece, beautifully crafted w/ the freshest & finest ingredients! 🍣 Omg the foie gras chawanmushi was unbelievably smooth, it’s a match made in heaven w/ the nori crunch! 😇 The MB9+ wagyu sirloin was absolutely moreish - succulent & cooked to perfection. 🔥 And the ice cream sandwich “monaka” is much a sweet surprise with a twist of Aussie goodness – Vegemite caramel sauce! 🇦🇺 Highly recommend Komiyui for the ultimate omakase experience and we can’t wait to return & explore their fantastic a la carte options! 🤤
I thought I would come back 2 years after some of the best food I had ever eaten! And wow, the disappointment is real.. What have they done to it!?!?! - Food was very ok at best - You have a DJ play loud music now while you try and even hear the people next to you. Why am I spending $1000 on a meal with a DJ playing? Very very disappointing Star. We need to circle back on this one 👍
One of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve ever been! Everything was perfect, the food was so good, especially tempura 🤌🏻 🍤 Special thanks to Josh who went above and beyond that night and even congratulated us on our anniversary (I mentioned it when I did my booking). Thanks to Kiyomi team for our great night!
Aymeric is a true host and great manager. Food is amazing, my favourite being the lamb chops. I believe they have changed the menu so trying that tonight. Great staff.
we love kyomi, it’s our favourite date night, but what an absolute travesty to take the lamb chops off the menu. i don’t even like lamb, and they were one of the best things i’ve ever tasted. Please do the world a favour and bring them back, it doesn’t seem fair
Beautiful food and service
Wagyu.. didnt't taste like Wagyu. As my kid said.. its too chewy! Proper Wagyu should be soft and melt in your mouth
First time visiting Kiyomi and we were thoroughly disappointed. For the price of the dishes it did not meet our expectations. The sashimi did not taste fresh, and the portion sizing is quite small for dishes ordered. We also ordered a roll of sushi which was $25 and only came with 5 pieces. Nonetheless the wait staff were exceptional and very hospitable, and the ambience of the restaurant is nice also. Safe to say we won’t be back for the food tho.
Everything was perfect, except for the music. We had to ask twice to have the music turned down., when we called the waiter over to ask him if the music could be turned down he had trouble hearing us. The music was not only loud but the type of music playing did not suit the beautiful high end / romantic restaurant that this is
The food is delicious, good service
Had an amazing experience for my mother’s birthday. Was served by amazing team members, especially a guy in the suit called Aymeric, and the two lovely waitresses named Courtney and Yukiko were really nice and on point with their high quality service! Highly recommend and will be back for sure!
We have been going to Kyomi since it opened the service has gone down dramatically. The waiter kept telling us he was frustrated with diners My husband ordered a drink and they didn’t have it , it took 3 times of asking to be told so We waited over an hour to order food We were a party of 12 and it really felt like we were in a Chinese restaurant eating a buffet not a fine dining restaurant With a bill over $2000 we definitely expected more I won’t be going back anytime soon
Thanks Rafael for ruining my birthday dinner by trying to seat me in a corridor. Such a shame one of the other 3 empty tables that could accomodate us weren’t available. Disgraceful!!
I was a walk in and was seated at the bar area which was nice and overlooked the chefs preparing cold dishes so interesting to watch. I was asked if I would like to order a drink and requested a glass of water. Unfortunately I was given a bottle of still water at $11 when I expected just a glass of water for free. I ordered the 'Seared scallop (2 in a serve), wasabi & shitake & fried leek @ $22' & 'Tempura Prawn (1 prawn) @ $7'. Really good food and clearly you are paying for quality and flavour over quantity which is fine as the food is so good. Next I ordered the 'full blood Wagyu 9+ roll, Yakiniku, miso horseradish @ $27'. Unfortunately the waitress ordered me the wrong dish and I ended up with '2gr Full Blood Wagyu 9+ Flank, confit shitake, takana, caramelized onion & Kombu Jus @ $68'. The waitress did tell me it was a new menu and she was confused by some dishes before I ordered but there is a big difference between a $27 dish & a $68 dish. I decided to keep the dish & to be honest I think she did me a favour as this steak was next level and then some and worth the extra $40. In all a beautiful restaurant and as long as you know you are paying a premium for such high quality food (over quantity) you'll love it. My only criticism (apart from the wrong order) was the water. If I had been told I was to be charged $11 for water I probably would have had a beer instead. I'll definitely be back next time I am on the Gold Coast. P.S. My 3 Star rating for service is based on wrong order and not being told water cost $11.
We loved it so much we went twice in 3 days. The sushi is sensational, the service is fantastic and the ambience is great. Must try the sashimi and sushi!
Kyomi is, without a doubt, the best restaurant anywhere in Australia that we have experienced in all of our travels, Everything is world class, the atmosphere, the service and OMG the food is unbelievable. The tastes that their chefs create is astonishing in it's variety and actual palate. We discovered Kyomi several years ago and were blown away. Our only problem is that we live about 700 km away and can't visit as much as we would like. Even so, we make it several times a year on birthdays and anniversary etc. Our hostess, Pam, is always wonderful and looks after us so well every time. If you are visiting the Gold Coast, do yourself a favor and have a night there. You won't regret it! World class, 100 out of 100. Simply the best! Kevin and Marion Turnbull Caves Beach NSW
The food used to be much better. They have reduced the portions and it’s overpriced for what it’s worth. Although, one of the nicer restaurants to visit around the GC area.
What a disappointment. No food or drink for half an hour after arrival. Food delicious, but finished before the sake ordered arrived. Maybe our fault for 1. Going to Star at all, 2. Going on Saturday night. Never again.
My partner and me went to Kiyomi for the first time. We are very critical with the restarts in star because we had an experience in Brisbane bevor which was not so good as we thought it would be. However, it was amazing ! We got the set Menu which is 8 courses and $165pp. It sounds like a lot of money but the quality and the portion size is the money definitely worth it ! From the beginning till the end it was just perfect. Everything was on point. We never had a better waiter bevor. His name was Dan and I will ask after a table with him for our next time at Kiyomi ! Warm hearted thank you to the team of Chefs and anyone else how made our experience so perfect !
Steven was amazing made me feel welcome and comfortable as I was dining by myself food was amazing!!
Food was excellent but the service was disappointing. I have booked a table with them last night for my bday and ordered like 5 dishes at first. We had additional order and waited for 30 mins for salmon seared sushi. I would have to understand if it was busy but they’re not. They were very attentive to one of the tables (maybe its a vip or regular customers) but we are customers as well and we deserve the same service as everyone. My family was still hungry and wanted to order more but we left and ended up eating in another restaurant. Very disappointing
Such a great fine dining place, all the food you select cannot go wrong.
I have dinner there for walk in and get table on the bar. It was beautiful experience dinning here. The sushi was fresh and good combination with Sapporo beer. If you like beef, Wagyu roll will be a good choice. I was tried Easter on ice cocktail which is very unique taste with piece of chocolate on top. The staff very friendly, good service.
The food was just so tasty. The service by AYAKO was amazing. Everyone was wonderful 😊
Morgan was a fantastic waitress. Recommended an item that was exceptional. She made it easy to order and try different things, making our experience so enjoyable.
celebrated our anniversary at kiyomi. received amazing service from Jacob, our waiter. pumpkin tempura and sushi were superb. will be back for our third time someday soon! :)
Hostess stated “Sorry we are fully booked at 8:30pm with two tables clearly available”. Proceeds to give us a bar seat with no food.Note magically there were seats available for patrons after us for dinning.
One of the best Japanese restaurants on the Gold Coast!
A beautiful experience. Our waiter made us feel so special, as though we were the only couple in the restaurant. Food was exquisite in both presentation and taste ❤️
Really bad service. Sat next to a few of empty wines. Food standards and quality not as expected. The drinsk menu was fun. But like the overall experience I can also gain from a local sushi train
Came for dinner solo while in town quickly. I got the set menu and the staff were happy to accomodate to make it pescatarian. Every bite was delicious! Loved the wine pairings too. Definitely worth it if you’re in the area.
It all started with the attentiveness of waitress COURTNEY. Eye contact, effective listening and a smile are winners - thanks Courtney. Sensational menu, their food creations are consistently mind (and mouth) blowing..dish after dish. Never before tasted such delish delights. A very thoughtful gesture at dessert time (chocolate words decorated the plate) Thanks Kiyomi. We’ll definitely see you again.
I am from Sydney and I come up here and this is the first place I’ll have dinner religiously. I’m banned from the star in Sydney , so whenever I come up and have a gamble in the lovely surfers paradise I’ll come here and visit this great restaurant.
Very small portions $55 duck had no vegetables or rice - beautiful sauce and 4 bits of onion (apparently witlof) rather disappointed unfortunately!
Had an amazing dining experience at Kiyomi tonight. My partner and I got the set menu, and were well pleased with the range, and quantity of food. The flavours and presentation were amazing. Highly recommend!
Had dinner before a show and splurged on the pairing menu. The food and experience were outstanding! Everything was delicious with attention to detail. The service was also top notch.
