Have been multiple times food is great with a large menu to choose from , great outdoor section for kids and the drinks are reasonably priced for the area
Rude Service Staff. Better off closing the place down. Went there for a feed. Walked out. Better Clubs around the corner
Great play area for the kids (when it's not raining)! Bring a ball along. Not much onsite parking but there is parking on the street. Food is above average. Creamy garlic prawns and white pepper pork (spicy) were great. Kids cheeseburger I wouldn't recommend - the meat patty was burnt/overcooked and chewy (tasted old) - my 6yo wouldn't eat it. Staff are friendly and accommodating. They don't do decaf (although it is on the menu). The hot chocolate tasted more like milk (needed more choc). Overall, I'd recommend and I'd go back (probably making some different food and beverage choices).
the restaurant was top tier
Home of Briars Rugby
Such a rubbish place. Kids were hungry so I just order some chips since it was almost dinner time, only for the chips to be attacked by birds. Went inside for a refund since I didn’t feel like feeding the birds today only to be told it’s not their problem. Seriously!!!! And it’s mine. My kids were scared by the whole thing. I’m talking about 8 pigeons and 2 bin chickens. Very disappointing. I hope this place is finished: there was also bird shit all over the benches. That should have been my first clue
Great food and service
Great spot for the family to get dinner and relax. Open space outside for the kids to play safely while you eat. Feels like the kitchen has changed hands since my last visit and I was pleasantly surprised. Food was good, kids had burgers, chicken and chips but I had the poke bowl and it was delicious!
We attended today for Father’s Day, reserved a table between 11-1pm in the Backyard Deck. The food and facilities were really great, especially for families, however the staff appeared very reluctant to provide patrons with the correct information. For example, we were told tables that had no reserved sign were reserved (yet we saw families order food and drink and just sit down willy nilly) and were told the ice cream in the ice cream cabinet was “too frozen” to scoop out, yet it was being scooped out for some and not others. Overall, was a great place but may need to review the number of staff rostered on busy days.
Was there for a friend's daughters 3rd birthday party. Atmosphere was fantastic
Went for a bday. Sat out the back near the restaurant. Awesome spot, especially with kids. Tables, sun, umbrellas. Food was amazing. Service great. Had the crumbed lamb cutlets, cracker!
Better off ringing to book a table as the whole place got booked out
State of origin always is a blast on the big screen at Briars!
Love the trivia on a Wednesday. Good meal as well.
Good
Came here around 1.30pm for lunch with the fam and some friends on a Saturday. Ordered the beef burger. It was tasty but messy to eat and was smaller than expected. The lettuce and tomato on it were fresh though but they added a fair bit of lettuce to add freshness and what I assume is filler. The pepperoni pizza was very average and I probably wouldn’t order that again. Ordered the fish and chips off the kids menu and it looked pretty good and the fish looked like it was cooked well. The chips served with the burger was pretty decent. Overall the food was ok. Nothing wowing me. I liked that there are a selection of sauces that people can help themselves to. I don’t see this often and this is one of the nice touches of this place. My main negative about this place though is the lack of staff. The ones I saw in the kitchen were very good and working hard but I hardly saw and floor staff to clear tables. This lead to numerous birds always flying around standing on the tables and pecking at leftovers. The birds aren’t scared of people which leads me to believe this is very common. Get some additional floor staff to clear tables and wipe them down to get rid of the birds. Maybe clean the kids play area a bit cause it’s looking like it’s been quite a bit of time since it’s been thoroughly cleaned but otherwise not an amazing place but def has plenty of potential. I’d really like to consider maybe hosting kids bdays and other events here given the spacious enclosed area but the birds etc were a bit of a put off.
Very good food! Fried sweet potato was amazing 😍😍
This place is super cute for kids. the out door area is great, a bowling green turned into a play ground with vinyl covered foam shapes for kids to climb on and play with, ride on toys and balls, kept my kids busy and contained while I caught up with friends. Food was as most pub food is and about the same price. I did wait an extraordinary length of time for a coffee although it did appear to be an extra busy day. The car park was very crowded and small for the popularity of the place.
Felt so sorry for the staff working went on Friday the 13th of April and the two girls there were over run working really hard and super kind.Management needs to organise things better and put more staff on. Also they were sold out of almost all the meals! The food was great and we’ve been briars regulars for years but management needs to get it together!
Good friendly service and the food was delicious
Disappointing tonight as I frequent here at least once a week for a drink and dinner. A quiet Thursday night here, currently 8pm, I asked the girl at the restaurant to wipe down a table and clear for me as it was a good spot to watch the footy on the big screen. Her response was that it was bar staff responsibility to wipe tables and to go and ask them…..seriously? She isn’t even busy. There’s a handful of customers in the restaurant. Pretty pathetic.
Family Friendly and looking forward to returning whence next visiting from Melbourne again, Having lived in Concord for several years this place has stood the test of time and cannot fault the atmosphere, dining experience!
Great place to go as a large group and with kids.
I would have given a negative result but alas one was the least I could give them. The kitchen CLOSED at 6:30 just 30 mins after our booked table and we were told that there was a corporate function and the kitchen was overwhelmed with orders. We had children who were hungry - imagine telling them that we had to wait over 30 mins to order??? We asked to speak to the manager who said that it wasn’t his fault as it was Christmas and denied there was a corporate function. We tried to explain that if we knew there was a “corporate function” we would have booked elsewhere or at least should have been told when we booked. He seemed to misunderstand that expecting a restaurant with over 100 seats plus and outdoor eating area having an overwhelmed kitchen that just closed when bookings arrived was just unreasonable. I asked him whether we could order food and bring it in and his response was a blunt “no”. It’s like going to a pub that doesn’t serve alcohol. Stupid - unreasonable and a room full of patrons who are sitting at empty tables. Nonsensical. Don’t go here. Go to Massey Park. Food is plentiful, top quality and speedy. Bar staff managed to serve plentiful patrons but the kitchen crippled at 6:30 and decided to close. DONT GO HERE. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND A KITCHEN THAT DECIDES TO CLOSE 30 minutes after you arrive.
My recent visit to Briars was, unfortunately, marred by a series of disappointments that collectively painted a picture of inadequate service and management. Despite having a reservation for 6:00, the evening took an unexpected turn as we found ourselves waiting until 7:15 to place our order. The delay was attributed to a supposed work function, only for us to later discover that this explanation was entirely untrue. The lack of transparency regarding the delay already set a negative tone for the evening. When I approached the manager to express my concerns and seek clarification, the interaction proved to be disheartening. Instead of addressing the issue with empathy and professionalism, the manager's demeanor was surprisingly rude and dismissive. This encounter with the manager not only failed to provide a resolution but also left me questioning the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction. The apparent disregard for our time and the misleading information regarding the delay demonstrated a lack of communication and organizational competence. Beyond the delay and the manager's discourteous behavior, the overall ambiance of the restaurant did little to compensate for the inconvenience. The atmosphere seemed tense, and the staff appeared overwhelmed, further contributing to the less-than-pleasant experience. In conclusion, my visit to Briars was characterized by a cascade of disappointments – from the initial delay and misinformation to the unprofessional conduct of the manager. Such lapses in service and communication are regrettably reflective of a lack of attention to detail and a customer-centric approach. As a result, I cannot recommend Briars to others seeking a positive dining experience.
Love it hear
Great location for a family get together and great food
Nice outdoor area
Chef took great care with my Coeliac meal, can definitely recommend. Seperate fryers were used and chicken was delicious.
good value
So terrible staff, the Security trashy man show his bad manner to everyone include kids. He didn't allow kids carry their water bottle. ask kids bottle should leave outside. Finally he stop complain before annoyed every parents. Then he said only people with driver licence ID can access not include passport ....... Keep complain that he is not happy with everything. Hi owner, your rude staff seems he doesn't like his job and client. As client we don't need come to suffer such rude behaviour. And he know nothing about his job except make touble to visitor. I will visit him again without kids talk about is this make sense passport is not ID? and kids can not have their water bottle in?
Great birthday celebration 🥳
Great vibe with the tables surrounding the kids play area
All good
Pretty disappointing visit to Briars Sports. Bar prices are reasonable but the bistro is a noisy mess. Go on a Sunday and the place is teeming with families and kids being left to run amok while their parents chat at tables. A child spilled a drink in the main dining room and ran off creating a hazard. Food all over the floor and tables not cleared. Bistro ordering staff member was rude. Two burgers were ordered at $22 each. Food took 35 mins to arrive. The chicken burger was not crispy as promised. The coleslaw was the stuff you buy in bulk from the deli at Coles with that thick cream dressing and that was the only flavour you could taste. Was expecting house made slaw. Really uninspiring. Beef burger was ok. The beer battered fries were the only redeeming quality. Cooked to perfection. Bowling greens in need of TLC. Better bowlos to go to in Inner West unless you want to let your kids run wild for the afternoon and disturb everyone else.
Briars changed my life. The best thing I ever did playing rugby for Briars
Space for kids is great but that’s about it. Food is average, orders lost or left out and not advised to collect.
Good atmosphere, good food, large servings of food
Such a disappointing experience.
Good place for quiet drink Has bottle return and earn which is handy Loverly part of the world in concord
Truly terrible establishment. Outside play area is sad with just a small plastic centre in the corner and some low level sports infrastructure. Outdoor dining is lacking and run down. The food is so shockingly bad. The pizzas taste like band-aids and the burgers resemble roadkill with low quality mustard. The service is mediocre and relatively slow. I wish I had never laid eyes on this place, let alone eaten there.
Decent club food with outdoor space for kids to run around
Good club food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Great outdoor dining area with plenty of room for the kids to play. Popular kids playground.
Venue is nice with outlooks to the park and bowling Green. The food was also decent however the catering staff are completely out of their depth. Was there for an event and the food came out intermittently and was not as booked for the event. They also refused to provide the included coffee orders as they were too busy
Great food, always packed, best to book a table
Very friendly club. Played bowls there today and the greens are good
Cute spot to have lunch while the kids play. Other food on the menu is average… but the pizzas are above! Also nice that they do kiddies parties.
The restaurant owner is very rude, and she thinks she isn't. If they want to make bussines they have to know how to talk nicely. We aren't their kids.We booked 2 tables and they want us we have to spend min $300 or more, other wise we cannot sit these tables. She asked us we have to understand them they are making business.Of course we understand wanted order food. The money isn't important. 1st .they have to tell before booked, how much we have to spend for birthdays or booking tables fees. Not surprised the customers. We booked lots of places, no one asked for how much we have to spend if it's especially, it is a club.We booked more than 1 month before. They booked us very near the door and it's not comfortable for birthdays. Usually we came before several times they are giving back side tables under shelter near play stations for birthdays. When we booked we asked near the play station place, because no one booked that date yet. Also we try to buy drinks, the lady told us drinks wasn't included, inside $300, because they're from the bar. At the end the way of talking and explanation not nice and she told she wasn't rude.We can understand misunderstanding or other things. But she was talking to us like we are little kids. Ans she thinks she's right not customer Other things Kids menu chicken nuggets with chips, chips are very soft and oily, kids left all the chips. Pizzas are medium range. Running a reastraunt, not only taking how much orders also about customer relationships. And this place is not waterfront high quality and luxury restaurant. We are not excepting luxury food but nice way of talking and kindness.
We asked if we could do our magic show for a kids birthday inside becauseit was very windy outside and many tables were empty. They said we couldn't because the place was supposedly fully booked. This was just a lie, we could see it remained mostly empty. I confronted the manager about it and was told to leave the venue. They would actually try to ruin a kids birthday party because for such petty reasons.
Love Briars for good food & great for the kids to play outside
Spacious and with a big kids area!
Briars Sports is a great place to watch sports and grab a quick bite. The atmosphere is always lively and there are plenty of TVs, so you can easily catch all the big games. I love coming here to watch football or basketball with friends.
Nice club and bar
Great food and the kids can go feral in the giant play area.
맛과 가격 공간 서비스 만족합니다..
Great atmosphere and even better food
Good food and absolutely enjoyed bowling awesome experience
The most miserable bistro experience I've had in a considerable time. Huge wait times (approaching 1 hour) for the most uninspired serving of bistro food I've seen.
Here for drinks. In the afternoon, Sun blazes down on the greens. Bring sunscreen - there is insufficient shade. They had run out of cups or glasses at the self service water tap - there were kids desperate for water.
Staff is so friendly. Great food and a good place for kids to play
Great place for the kids, they always have an amazing time. The major let down is the food and service. Food is below average especially if it’s busy. Wait times are ridiculously long and majority of the time the food is either undercooked or burnt. Managment are super rude. Such a shame as this place would be amazing if the food changed. It would be much better if the food was kept simple Thank goodness for the bar 🤣
First time to Briars. Great that it has a courtesy bus - picked up and dropped home. Very friendly driver who was on time. Bar staff efficient and friendly. Super busy. Kitchen service was absolutely atrocious. Said that it would be an hour wait which was fine. An hour and a half later approached the wait staff who said there was something wrong with our buzzer. Made it out issue. Manager was completely rude. Tables around us were also complaining about her. Once rectified, the meal was out in 5 minutes. Food was actually nice but the contempt from the manager of the kitchen and other staff in the restaurant left a real bad taste in our mouths. Would definitely go back for a drink but would have second thoughts about eating there.
Good place to have a beer and a bite with children. No cocktails and poor champagne selection. I believe this is a non smoking venue, but the security guard was smoking outside the entrance
Great for taking little ones, loads of play space .
The people were nice and friendly.
Good Place. Excellent club for sports, food and drinks.
Lugar agradable para disfrutar de un buen día.
