Disappointing is an understatement! We ordered main meals and pizza, however, they had a mix up with the buzzers and incorrectly programmed our buzzer, unbeknown to us, and our food was sitting out on the counter for a long time. Eventually, there was an announcement over the speakers, stating that there was an order that is awaiting collection. Upon going to collect our food, I asked the staff why our buzzer didn’t work and they informed us that it was set to an incorrect order. It was evident that our food had been sitting there for quite some time and was cold, however, the staff said it was fine. We then asked for a tray to assist with taking the food to our table, however, they said they ran out of trays! The staff at the pizza bar also advised that the pizza was awaiting collection for a long time, so that too was cold! Returning to our table, our food was stone cold and unpleasant. I took the cold fries back and asked them to swap them with hot fries, which they did and I also told them that all our main meals were cold and not edible or enjoyable. They didn’t seem to care. I then spoke to the manager and expressed my concerns to which he simply replied ‘thank you’. There was no gesture whatsoever to have our meals replaced with fresh and hot dishes, or any sign of empathy which was extremely unprofessional! This certainly does NOT align with their ‘Our Customer Guarantee’ printed on their menus. They obviously put that on to look good - I can assure you there is NO CUSTOMER GUARANTEE! what was even more shocking was that the manager then proceeded to talk about us to all the staff - very childish and unnecessary behaviour! Following our disappointing meals that we could not finish as the food was cold and the chicken was undercooked and pink, we went to order dessert! Whilst ordering our dessert and coffees, we asked the staff to please ensure there was no error this time and that we would appreciate that our food was not left on the counter again, to which the young male responded ‘oh you again, you need to get over it!’ This is absolutely appalling behaviour and proves that you’re certainly not treated with any form of professionalism or respect! Furthermore, our wine bottle and wine glasses, which still had wine in them were removed from our table whilst we were still there! The staff did not bother to ask us if we would like to finish the drinks. I then spoke to the manager and two other staff member again, raising this concern, however, they were very careless and obviously didn’t care! It was almost like they did it on purpose because we complained about the errors which we were certainly entitled to do! This has been the WORST DINING EXPERIENCE ever, not only is the food horrible and overpriced, the SERVICE IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND SHOCKING to say the very least! The staff could’ve easily managed this and showed some empathy towards all their mishaps! They chose to be IGNORANT, UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, and tried to intimidate us. I strongly suggest the staff enrol in customer service training, cause this behaviour is unacceptable! So, if you want to be mistreated, served cold food, and then be intimidated by the staff, I urge you to dine there! If you want a nice meal with great service…avoid this place at all costs! It’s evident via the other reviews that this behaviour is frequent! I won’t be recommending this place to anyone and will be more than happy to share my horrible experience via more social media channels to ensure the public are aware of what to expect! FOLLOWING THE OWNERS RESPONSE, AND AT THEIR REQUEST, I CALLED TO DISCUSS MY EXPERIENCE, AND WAS TOLD THE MANAGER WAS NOT AVAILABLE BUT SHE WILL RETURN MY CALL - HERE WE ARE DAYS LATER WITH NO CALL BACK!! I AM NOT SURPRISED AND EVIDENTLY THEY TRY AND MAKE THEMSELVES LOOKS GOOD TO THE PUBLIC BUT DO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH!
The food very yummy and the place is elegant to have wedding or birthday party
Love this place, great food and great family vibe! Easy lunch and dinner location for families
10out of 10
Club is going backwards. Food is well below par and inconsistent. Not receptive to feedback- more concerned about making money than servicing the Cro community.
I was at an event with about 300 Croatians last week… The talk of the day was how bad the food was at this club. I went to give it a go and it was terrible they don't even have Croatians cooking the food and the people in there cant replicate it…. If this is the bench mark Croatians club they need to up their game on the food part because alot of people aren't happy.
Great place to eat
After the shocking grand opening we thought we would give grace and give this place another go for a Sunday lunch despite the Croatian community complaining that the food is below par. Ordered the Šunka pizza $27, Garlic pizza $23, Lignje $37, Croatian potato salad $11. Šunka was ok, it has some flavour however the Garlic pizza was missing garlic. It was all cheese and with a sourdough like base/crust a little dry/tough to eat. Lignje sound and look appealing it had no flavour! All we could taste was the dill so much so I questioned if there was actual squid ink or was it food colouring? Croatian Potato Salad epic fail! Simply boiled potatoes with garnish , no flavour and definitely no vinegar. Whilst I appreciate the chef’s may not be from the homeland and authentic cooking could be hard to replicate the head chef should know better. If you cannot do a Croatian potato salad something is very wrong. Whilst the venue has beautiful decor being a new venue perhaps money well spent could have been on the quality in the kitchen rather than importing stone from Croatia. All credit to the manager that took on our feedback and checked with the kitchen but also offered a refund or replacement meal. Unfortunately we won’t be returning to this venue. Whilst buzzing with patrons I don’t see this lasting. And The Concord need to decide if they want to be “pub grub” or authentic cuisine. Whilst the other items looked great burgers , schnitzel they are all well over priced for your typical pub/RSL.
Great community club with awesome tasty food, and a relaxing modern vibe. Love this place ❤️
We visited this venue on Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday with family, and we had a fantastic time. The staff were friendly, and the food was excellent—we enjoyed the grilled snapper, mixed meat, chicken salad, pizzas.... The venue has a stylish, well-thought-out interior with different seating areas, from the outdoor wood-fired pizza terrace to the Mediterranean style indoor restaurant, a cozy lounge, and a beautiful bar featuring a large pool table and custom-crafted seating for relaxation. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming—you truly feel at home here!
I was quite surprised at how large and airy the place is. From the moment you walk in the door the place is nice to settle down, enjoy a meal, a drink and watch the huge sports tv.
Pizza was amazing. Great calamari. Fast service. Lovely environment and surroundings. Easy parking.
A rare and hidden gem right here in Concord! A walk back in time, please never change anything!
The club is awesome and fantastic activities for the kids and family. We love it. It's a shame that some families go there and think that it's free daycare. Parents need to look after their kids!
Great location for families with young children as there is a a playground with fenced area. Diverse menu featuring wood fired oven pizza, pasta and Croatian bbq. Recommend booking in advance as tables fill up !
Lijepo mjesto za mnoge prigodne svečanosti, ugodno ,ima razne sadržaje
I had lunch here with family and friends and everybody enjoyed their meals. I had the sarma which are delicious and almost as good as my mother's were. Well worth a visit and definitely going back
A huge thank you to Emily, who was exceptional throughout the event planning process. She was organised, accommodating, and incredibly responsive, offering fantastic suggestions that made everything run smoothly. The venue itself was perfect, with a great atmosphere, a modern look, and an excellent layout of tables and chairs that encouraged guests to mix and mingle. The outdoor playground was a big hit with the kids, and there were plenty of different areas to relax and enjoy the event. We chose to order pizzas and chips, which turned out to be a huge crowd-pleaser. Everyone was delighted with the food, and one guest even mentioned it was the best chips they'd ever had. Many of the attendees were visiting the venue for the first time, and several mentioned they would love to return in the future. Julian, the host, was also fantastic—attentive and professional, ensuring everything went smoothly. It was also a nice bonus that there was no cakeage fee as long as we brought our own cutlery, which was a win win for us. All in all, we were extremely happy with the venue, the food, and the staff. We will definitely be back to host another event here soon. It was the perfect space with a dedicated area for our group, making it a memorable experience for everyone.
Love it good food good atmosphere
Don't let your kids touch the cube cushions.
Good food nice place 👍
Great vibe , and awesome food
The food was uninspiring and unauthentic. The music was so loud it was hard to talk we actually left because it was unbearable. Staff were unhelpful. And to add to all of this, a couple of us are feeling unwell following our dinner there yesterday. A lovely venue let down by everything else such a shame
Best place to unwind with the kids. Great atmosphere
(4.5 stars) The Croatian-Australian community flocks to The Concord on weekends, making the not-insubstantial car park overflow onto nearby suburban streets. The exterior is adorned with stone imported from the western side of the mountains around Benkovac. Large family groups occupy most of the light-drenched indoor-outdoor terrace, contributing to the open-air wood-fired pizza kitchen working very hard. Indoor tables and booths are equally full: so booking ahead is definitely advised. When you arrive you’ll need to tour the empty tables in your nominated section to find a printout bearing your name taped to your table. It grants you a two-hour time slot, which proves long enough because everything you order from the main kitchen comes at once. This rookie mistake saw our table swamped with a Croatian feast crafted by Tomislav Martinović. Cured tuna ($24) with dill, lemon oil, cucumbers and chilli flakes takes yellowfin tuna has a cooling quality perfect for the Aussie summer. The pašteta ($18)—chicken liver mousse—is picture perfect pink (unoxidised) laid over chewy Dalmatian fig paste and adorned with pickled red grapes. Smear it on lipinje ($11)—puffy domes of woodfired flatbread—for a flavour sensation. The bread, which comes with cottage cheese, is also a good vehicle for charcoal-grilled spicy Kulen pork sausages and skinless ćevapčići, with or without the accompanying white cabbage. They’re all part of the Croatian mixed grill ($41): a long and easily-shareable platter of meat running from tasty chicken wings to excellent grilled pork neck you can smear with ajvar for extra kick. Ignore the seasoned commercial fries and throw in an extra salad: the rajčice ($17) with heirloom tomatoes, split figs and olives in white balsamic is just what your digestive system needs against the lean, grilled meat. The Andrija Chardonnay ($66) will also assist with peach and gentle citrus notes and a whisker of wood (it’s aged mostly in stainless steel). It was exciting to visit this recently opened Croatian club, the next stage in the 70-plus year journey of the Croatian community here in Australia, which started with the Hrvatsko Društvo Sydney cultural club back in 1951.
Nice club good food
We held a wake mid week for aproximately 40 people with a modified menu of meat and seafood platters on a per table of 10 basis. The staff were very helpfull with organising extra space in case it was needed. Food and service were great and everything went very smoothly.
I lived in concord for 23 years. I recently moved but went back and had my Birthday at the club because all.my friends live closer. The club looks amazing, has great food and friendly staff. Great for the kids with a play area and plenty of room to run around aaanndddd a smoking area outside of the pokie room! Great addition to concord best club in the area!
My wife booked a table of 17 for my birthday a month in advance. On the day, people took our table before our appointment time, despite it being marked as reserved with our name. Staff refused to help and were AWOL for over half an hour while we stood in the middle of the venue with babies in hand. After asking to meet with the manager, we were told the manager was “busy”. After pleading with random wait staff/passers by, we were finally seated on foldable tables under the greyhound races and right next to the pool table where we were asked to “move your table out of the way“ so people could play. Adding insult to injury, my sons schnitzel had a bone in it, the sandwiches we ordered were cold, and the calamari was horrifically over salted. The pizza, at the very least, was fine; but wasn’t better than anything else in the area. Overall a very poor experience. We won’t be back anytime soon, but I genuinely hope they iron out these issues.
First time visiting here and we were very impressed. It looks amazing with the renovations they did. So many different places to sit inside or outside. Very interesting menu and the food we had was delicious. We enjoyed a pizza, and two different sandwiches served with chips which were huge serves and good value. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. We will certainly go back again to try more of the food...
We ordered pizza from this place before, and it was amazing. We opted for croatian cuisine this time. The place is newly renovated so it feels very modern.
Most mid place....
Everyone else got a nice looking lunch, pork from the spit was good but both lamb meals was $56 worth of dog food
Food and atmosphere is fantastic.
We were all so looking forward to this club opening up & although aesthetically it looks nice it greatly disappoints in the quality of food. Pizza was good. Since when do ligne get served with chick peas 🤷♀️ We thought we would try the desserts. Wow. Don’t bother. Splitska torta was basically a heavy over the top chocolate mud cake concoction that had a weird aftertaste. When we gave our feedback to a staff member relaying that is not a splitska torta she was rude & dismissive. Looks like we’ll be staying with King Tom. Can’t beat their food. And most importantly the food is authentic.
Awesome place.
Excellent food. Pleasant atmosphere.
Great new club. Good food and service.
As per other reviews, the menu and dining experience is below average. It’s pretty clear and the locals are letting you know what’s wrong with this place. Revamp the menu pretty quickly or lose a lot of repeat business.
the club and facilities are first class but unfortunately thats where it stops having Croatian heritage I was so disappointed in seeing our food prepared like this , this is not what Croation food tastes like the mixed grill was oily and rubbery, the oysters were completely off you must have extremely fresh oysters or dont serve them at all , burnt octopus, even the cabbage (Kupus) had no flavour - come on guys show everyone how Balkan food should really taste get this sorted quickly I came once before and had the Pizza that it really good but as a Croation club please don't dishonour our food as that is one of the main reasons people come here ...sorry but you can do alot better with someone who understands how the food should be sourced and prepared
Awesome venue but the food is average
Never knew this venue existed until I was invited for lunch with extended family. Great venue with a refurb with extensive outdoor seating and space for kids to run around. Also has screens throughout if your into sports viewing. We booked a table of 20, which they easily accommodated. Ordering was simple at the counter and food was reasonably quick. Unfortunately the food was a letdown. The mixed grill was bland (except for the pork neck) and the chicken wings dry and overcooked. However, the pizzas looked amazing. Most tables had them and everyone seemed happy. Including my table.. My wife needed glutes free and the pizza was too much of a risk. The fish my wife had was good but a tiny piece with lots of potatoes. Definitely worth visiting with large groups, just stick with the pizza!
AMAZING service. Not enough words and appreciation and gratitude on how amazing all the were on Sunday. Accommodating, friendly, organised, happy etc..Pizza's were just perfect and ambiance was next level fantastic!Thank you to everyone for being so wonderful and beautiful. God Bless!!
Good venue, good food great place to take your family.
Came here with my family, Adults kept smoking right next to children and inside the eating area which made the whole place smell terrible. I had to move outside because a lady kept coming up to me and smoking a bunch which has resulted in me and my family to have headaches, sore chests and sore throats. Food was average.
Not a good dinner place So my family was trying to have a nice dinner but there were people smoking and no one doing anything about it! Food was okay evening was ruined by smokers gave me a wicked headache come here if you want to stink like cigarettes and get a weird taste in your mouth dont sit outside you will smell like cigarettes and get a bad Hi jgjhh my lip ok djdksjd One star
Food was Average at best. My family and I left with very sore throats and headaches due to the designated smoking area being directly in front of the eating area which also happens to coincide with the areas that the children play in. We told one of the wait staff about our concern relating to the smokers and he told us that the area was the smokers area!!! The only thing we got out of this outing was an increased chance of emphysema.
My wife and I were recently at the Concord Community Club for a family function. The food took over two hours to arrive. Stunning, considering it was a pre-ordered menu. When it finally did arrive, we were told there were no mains available for our table. The number of guests had been confirmed with the club. No excuse. There was simply not enough staff for the number of patrons at the club. The food was average. To top off a brilliant afternoon, my wife was violently ill when we arrived home… definitely not from alcohol. The club looks good… that’s the only thing going for it.
The venue looks great, the pricing is fair but the food was a big letdown, we shared the dishes as a group and some of the dishes misted the mark by a long way, no flavour, no texture and the non traditional ones were far from appetising, the cultural dishes are not doing the Croatian nationality justice, shame. I live in the area and was looking forward to a great night, specially the food but I will not return or recommend the venue fortunately.
First time visit since the club underwent renovations. They did a great job with the interiors - it’s spacious & inviting. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, delicious & generous portions. And yes the sarma and cevapcici was good!
Hi, just wanted to give you some feedback! we came for dinner tonight with my family..we spent a lot of money but was very disappointed. The dessert I ordered didn’t match what I got, I told the staff and they said oh yeh sorry it’s an old menu! Ummm what do you mean? You can’t have people ordering off a menu and giving them something else!? It was a waste of money, tastes horrible and left it all. This was meant to be wood fired pancakes with vanilla custard, black figs & vanilla bean gelato Instead I got crepes with raspberries and coffee gelato. NOT HAPPY!
Had a staff lunch at the Concord yesterday.Everything was perfect and Delicious. Congratulations to all involved in delivering this beautiful venue. Will have my Christmas party here this year. Mirko
Great venue, great food. Gets better every visit.
My partner and I visited this new club last night. Sunday night was in full swing. Lots of families, lots of kids, lots of music, lots of noise....IT WAS GREAT ! A lovely assistant found a table outside for us. The food was fabulous, its lovely to see a club menu that is different from the usual fare offered. The cabbage rolls took me back to my childhood and the Njoki was spot on ! A seafood Brodet would be a welcome addition. Many thanks
Its like going to Croatian without leaving the country, you can appreciate authentic Croatian food. (Skip the pancakes- they look fancy but are hard and cold). They have 2 bouncing castles on Sunday. Enjoy ;)
Had an overall good night food was nice atmosphere was family friendly venue nicely decorated… however the smoking ruined the expedience, patrons did not follow the 10 meter rule and the stench was offensive. Which was a shame! would have given a higher rating if not for the smoking
Another fabulous night, exceptional service and meals, wonderful ambience
I just had a lovely dinner with my family. The woodfire Pizzas are really good. It has a playground for the kids to keep them entertained whilst you having a drink. Definitely be coming back.
Stopped for drinks n pizza, 5 stars We had waited 2 months after opening to let it get settled in
Nice place in the wrong suburb. The food is alright but doesn't really cater to the demographics of Concord and the inner west. The loud, constant Croatian music did my head in. I was there at lunchtime and it was a ghost town. How about making it a Brasserie with nice, affordable, and accessible western food. Nothing wrong with Croatian food but I think they missed the boat here. Such an opportunity missed.
Lovely new club pity about the management. I was there the second week that they were open, i ordered food to share for a group of 3. 4 dishes came out but no plates, apparently they ran out. Ok not such a big deal as they only just opened. I paid for membership and they couldn't issue a card as again, they ran out. Its been more than 2 months and still no card. But my biggest gripe is that they refuse to answer telephone calls. Its such a shame as the club could be a great place to go if they only cared about the customers. I think the management from Punchbowl must have moved here as well, and nobody ever went there. Hopefully they take this criticism on board as the place has potential. An update as of 12.9.24, I went into the club to book a table for Saturday night, the lady at reception told me that they dont take bookings and that i have to do it over the net. Got home and tried to access their website but couldn't. I checked on facebook to find out that their website was down and to ring their phone number. Low and behold nobody answers the phone.I have never come across a more amatuer organisation. Whoever is in charge needs a new career path. PATHETIC.
Big spacious place. Great place for families. Nice food choices, food is good. It would’ve been a nice dining experience BUT cleanliness is bit questionable, the serving tray were all dirty (had crumbs and questionable liquid) and we were meant to put our plate of food on it. I tried to look for a relatively clean one and one guy said they were all the same. Also note, when you get seated outside they don’t have a backup plan for guests if it rains. I asked, basically got told it’s customers risk when choosing outside seating. Understandable that they can’t provide indoor seating if it’s full but their answer could be a bit more hospitable. But definitely best if they do have cafe outdoor umbrellas as backup. Definitely room for improvement and will give place another chance. Props to the guys running their bouncy castles. They were on point on safety, always had someone watching the play area.
Very nice food and atmosphere
nice place but food not good at all besides the pizza and chips
Great food and atmosphere
What a great addition to Concord. Plenty of space, plenty of areas to please most and the food was good. You need more lights out the back at night. I also didn’t like the blonde lady at front screaming at the tiny kids trying to dance. One walked of crying. Seems like she wasn’t a very fun teacher.
Great food, great kids area, lovely staff. Dinner for six families on a friday night with zero fuss!
Venue and facilities are great. Not so much the dining experience and service. For Authentic and Quality Croatian food, Luca Mala at King Tom Club is way better.
New, spacious, luxurious feels, good menu, what we ordered was lovely. 10% off food for members. Join for $10 for 3 years.
