Lovely looking old pub. Unfortunately we recently had a bad experience last Sunday around 4pm. Be careful while ordering classic cocktails in the main bar. I ended up paying $28 for a pre-mixed Negroni poured from a no-name dodgy looking bottle a - la Jungle Juice. Staff could not have any less motivation making the drinks and mumbled in reply that normal cocktails are only served upstairs. Won't go back.

The old girl doesn't change and that's a good thing.

Whisky bar on level 3 ... Give it a go! Only downside is they don't serve Guiness (if one of your party wants one) but you can bring one up from the bar downstairs. Good whisk(e)y cocktail selection

The bar at the top level is amazing - and has the best bartender in the world, Gerald! You have to be served by him to see what I mean, he truly makes it such a special experience. Service and atmosphere in general is just so good. Perfect if you have a show at City Recital Hall for before/after drinks.

This is my favourite 'pub' in Sydney! Great Guinness, and plenty of choices of beers. Always busy, with lots of office workers after work.

Good place to have after work drinks, level 1 couches are relaxing for cold beer, vibe is good, staff is very welcoming, only thing is there is no smoking area which is understandable because Martin place is non smoking area, over all amazing place recommend someone looking for after hour drink

If you're new in town or travellers, don't overlook this hotel. It's got great character and is worth a visit just to experience all the levels. We've been here for functions and as just a pop in for a quick bite and drink. Love it!!

Sauntered in one fine evening 9 years ago in 2015, loved the wee tiles on the bar. Been coming back ever since to ogle at the tiles. Highly recommended if you're into tiles, banter, great service and general bonhomie in that order.

Nice old pub, has 3 levels with plenty of room for quiet meetings or lunch. Limited menu with good food. Had the Guinness pie, it was lovely. Unique decor, bar staff are very friendly and efficient. Worth a drop in if you are in the area.

Great pub in the city, generally a bit quieter than most, strongly recommend poking your head upstairs to see if there’s a couch free !

Great lunch. Tried the lunch specials and enjoyed a good sandwich and drink. Good value in a relaxed old style pub setting.

Ordered the pumpkin risotto and it was essentially a puddle of mash about 3 cm thick at the bottom of the plate for $28. Would not recommend this place at all for food as it's a rip off.

I spent quite a bit of money in the poker machines tonight one of the staff ask me to leave if I'm not playing they asked me to leave the premises refuse to get me a drink water the rudeness and roughness of this woman was grossly overbearing attacked me I've never been mistreated so poorly in my life all I was doing was working out how much money I had left to gamble. It said to know that this waitress heard the conversation that I was homeless and living on the street. Just because some of the people that live on the street are homeless doesn't mean they don't work or still go to a job. It was only a few years ago that covid wiped out the pub industry and the gaming The gambling last their jobs it seems that everyone has forgotten how easy it is to go from a comfortable house to the. streets. From when I walked in two angels how to set on me from day one it said that a great venue like angel hotel was brought down by the Staffordshire attitude. I do know that the venues have a right to ask people to leave if they're sitting at a pokie machine s. But there was a whole heap of work collection now half of works want gambling and half at the weren't we're not drinking . I have the public and will read this and do something about. I Because just because a person Stihl tributes to the economy I was well-dressed plane and looking Sharp where in Calvin Klein jeans designer so I was looking the park and trying to fit in. All I was trying to do was I was with one of the guys from I work functions involve me in your game on the pockets . I'm just pissed off from Sega been treated like a piece washed up on the Shoreline. But with that waitress if I washed up on her beach I'd be rubbish and trash. All over great night angels and I hope everyone wins

Came here for lunch, limited menu, had a $17 chicken pie, soggy microwaved pastry, no chips or salad. Overpriced and disappointing, expected better from Merivale. Will not go again.

Such a great little pub in the heart of the city. It's super cosy!

Nice bar and great staff. Good selections of whiskeys. The place is quite cramped though and extremely loud when packed.

Get your bar staff to talk to you for 2 min whilst pouring drinks until happy hour is over and then charge you full price for drinks - priceless!

Friendly welcoming staff, lovely ambience

Called into this pub for a drink with friends. We sat upstairs and the atmosphere was great. We were served by Sarah each time we went to the bar. She made the best Aperol spritz's and even stopped and had a chat to us. Will definitely go back.

I stopped for a while to the pub. Enjoy my v beer and fries. Old antique building of hotel. Some spot also available in front of the hotel. Soooo friendly lady staff this morning. Will return again for sure.

Bit dark and dreary. All stairs to all floors. No breathing space as there's no balconies. Parking is awful. Service and attention to customers was excellent though 👌

I’ve come here for a lunch break with friends and it’s a good place for a casual catch up. I did recently come here on a Saturday night. It had the right vibe for a drink but I wouldn’t recommend the cocktails here. I ordered two negronis ($22 each). These were bought by the hotel pre-mixed and tasted awful. Was unhappy with the price for a cocktail that isn’t even made on the spot by the barman. Very expensive - you pay for the location. I recommend other bars in the area if wanting to try cocktails. All that said, the barman was lovely enough and security were nice too.
