Good average food but expensive

We recently ordered as a team at Bob's Bar, and unfortunately, our experience was soured by a rude waitress. She had the audacity to smash the cheap wasabi onto the counter before bringing it to our table, likely because she was having a bad day. She then argued with all of us like she was doing us a favor. This behavior left a terrible first impression of the place, all because of this one staff member. It's a shame, as the restaurant could have been great, but such a negative interaction makes us hesitant to return. Why all that attitude? Finally the food wasn't that good too for the value. Avoid if you don't mind sub par service and food.

My dining experience, starts with a greeting by my name. The spacious comfortable, with familiar faces and always great food. I always feel welcomed.

Service was amazing. Food by Jase was outstanding and extremely friendly bar staff ( Tatum and Micky) this hidden gem won't stay a secret for long. Highly recommend

Amazing value for money.

This venue is one of the few left in the city which is ideal for reunion lunches. The food is excellent and the staff very obliging and helpful. And its good value.

Great food with fantastic staff and wines. I regularly visit the Barracks Restaurant because in addition to the great food you also have a quiet environment where you can have a conversation with your friends.

Just had a great lunch at the restaurant. The food was excellent and was on,y outdone by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them, it was our first visit and it met all the expectations I would have for a City Tatts venue. Will definitely be back. Carole Crawford Seaforth

This was an excellent choice by the organisers for our 60 years since leaving school reunion. Food was excellent, staff were friendly, service was great, in a comfortable restaurant located near public transport. Couldn't ask for any more.

Was absolutely blown away by this place! I was not expecting the food at this RSL to taste as good as it did. I ordered the bacon cheese burger, which was very juicy and tender - one of the best pub burgers I’ve had in Sydney! The sweet and spicy wings are also to die for - super crunchy and flavourful on the outside, and soft and tender on the inside. The staff were also very nice and attentive - we felt very welcomed with their top tier service. They also have happy hours with $10 cocktails and $8 wines!!!

Best value steak in the CBD, super tender and tasty too! Tatum is a star! Friendly and fast service. Monday-Friday lunch special with a choice of steak, chicken schnitzel or a burger with chips and gravy for $17 plus add a schooner of Hahn Super Dry for only $3! Free membership option, collect points for discounts and you even get a $15 e-voucher to redeem during your birthday month with the free membership! What more could you ask for?!

Great venue! Perfect spot for a function, our group was well looked after by Tatum and her team. Food is fantastic, service even better, we will be back!

We had 40 people that enjoyed lunch at The Barracks yesterday. Everything went off well. Meals organised prior and everything went off smoothly. Staff were very friendly and the steaks cooked to perfection. The drinks were affordable of which we loved. We will be back.

Have had 2 functions here recently. Staff very accommodating. Tatum, who served us during the functions was very attentive and friendly. Will be back!

Great place to go for after work drinks and food! Good food and nice happy hour cocktails. I really liked the Southside cocktail. Steak and chips were satisfying.

This place used to be great. Not anymore. Miserable service, terrible vibe, no happy hour. A shame as I spent many happy years imbibing here previously. Will not be coming back.

Great place for a few drinks after work. Not a huge range of beers on tap but the usual fare. Typical club atmosphere. Free nibbles on the table. Friendly service. The burgers are great.

This place is a great little hidden treasure in the heart of the city. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We all ordered the steak and every person was happy with how the steak was cooked to their specifications. Jase and Adrianna did a fantastic job and cooked a marvelous meal. Tatum was our fantastic bar attendant making us delicious cocktails. Tatum was attentive to our group and made sure that we were all good during our visit. One of the best pubs I have been to in Sydney and will definitely be returning.

Very enjoyable small club. Friendly staff in the ground level bar and upstairs restaurant. Good range of beers. Restaurant is a lovely, comfortable space. Food was tasty and well presented. Will be back again.

This is an RSL style pub. Food is basic, just what you would expect.

Sydney club in the heart of the city great meals & the drinks are ok as well. The place is a little old world & I think could do with an update.

Multi level venue offering exceptional value for money. Standard RSL type club vibes on the ground floor - not for everyone but it reminds me of small country town Australia. There is also a small restaurant on level 1 that’s hidden away that has a different menu and more refined service. I booked through the website which has the option to reserve a table on the different levels. I do recommend the younger crowd head downstairs to the basement bar for $10 happy hour cocktails and complimentary bar snacks with purchase between 4-6pm (basement bar is only open wed-fri however). Friendly staff. Sports playing on many TVs, and there is a small well appointed smokers gaming room and outdoor balcony and sidewalk seating on picnic tables. Kitchen is open all day from 12pm-8pm. They do a lunch special for $17 ($20 with a house beer/wine), which I will go back to try. This visit I ate the smoked salmon lettuce cups ($20) which were surprisingly light, fresh and well balanced. The champagne tarragon dressing and beetroot complement the salmon well. Also tried the fried buttermilk wings with all of the sauces (extra charge): blue cheese, sweet spicy (the BEST!), jalapeno lime aioli which was great for $16, and Fried Zucchini Pickles with ranch (5pce for $12) - these are a new favourite of mine and feel a much healthier option for bar food. This place is such a good deal for something cheaper in the city and there’s added benefits if you sign up to be a member too, which I did easily through a QR code.

A great place to meet … Managed by City Tattersalls Group, so you know it will be priced right. It’s bustling but at least you can hear yourself speak. Food is great along with great Service there too.

Absolutely shocking! Will never go back. The food at the bistro was 🤑 and a total rip off for what they serve. And it would be great to remove from the menu what isn't available 😏

Very good environment and reasonable prices for drinks and food

The pub is very spacious with an area downstairs as well as ground level. Food is ok, chips are nice, chicken schnitzel wasn't the usual texture but tasted ok. Recommend ordering sauce as the flavour was a bit bland without it. Doesn't include salad. Wagyu burger was popular and others said it was delicious. Fish and chips were below standard. Drinks are good value. Good place for lunch with a group, reservations can only be made for large groups. Lots of seats available inside and outside. Street is sunny and reasonably quiet.

I recently organised a high school reunion of 78 year old men who left school in 1962. There were some 34 attendees for a lunch in the downstairs area. The organisation was very efficient and friendly and the menu offered great value and service. There was a real buzz to the whole afternoon and on the basis of this experience I would be happy to recommend Barracks for a similar such function to other persons.

Probably ok for a drink had lunch steak was way over cooked dried out considering it was supposed to be med/rare woman cook was rude won't be going back others i went with weren't impressed either. Disappointing

$11 for a Carlton is a scam. Do not go here.
