I've visited this store twice in the past month, in my quest to rebuild my MTG collection after taking a 20 year break. But both times I stood at the counter for ages and the staff didn't acknowledge me or offer to serve until I specifically asked them for help (on my second visit there was only 1 other customer in the store). It was a very unfriendly and unhelpful environment, especially for someone who is just rejoining the TCG community. Even though the store has a good range of MTG singles, I must say I'm not keen to return at all.

I really enjoy coming to goodgames, not just as a customer but also just to hang out sometimes. The receptionists tend to be very knowledgeable about the different packs and I really appreciate their assistance as a relatively new collector/TCG player. They also seem genuinely interested in the games themselves which is always a plus. Unfortunately I do feel like sometimes there isn’t necessarily a good level of professionalism? I remember getting a pre-made deck sold by the store itself and asking if it was a good idea to just have “energies” of one type (because I didn’t have enough cards to even play two types of pokemon). I was told “ah that’s a terrible strategy, you definitely don’t play do you” or something along those lines. Well yes, I bought a pre-made deck so obviously? Other than that experience I think the store is ok.

I write this as I shake with anger and shock. I came to enter a tourney on the 17th of Sep 2024 through a friendly staff member who I’ve known for a long time. I intended to play the tourney with my friend but something urgent came up and we had to leave mid round 1. We go to the counter to collect our two pack prizes and our promo card and this new guy serves us. He takes a long time to find the packs (at this point I’m incredibly late now), ignores the other customer at the counter, and comes back with just one pack and one promo. This confused us because the tourneys give out two packs instead of one, which equates to the amount of money put in to participate ($15) and my friend and I are long time loyal customers. So I go to confirm with the other staff member that it’s two packs and he agreed. I go back to the new guy to say that I’m missing a pack and he gives me and my friend immediate lip. “Why are you getting packs if you’re not going to play? Why are you asking me for packs?”- he said that all in an incredibly horrific and downgrading tone towards me and my friend. He gives us the stink eye as my friend tries to calmly explain the situation to him. I’m shocked at this customer service because it’s the most rudest I’ve ever gotten in my life. We paid for the tourney, and unfortunately couldn’t play the whole tourney, why are we refused our prizes? I talk to the other staff member and turns out- this rude man is the store manager. I’m shocked to my core that this man is even allowed to be a store manager let alone a job at gg central. (His name is Andrew C) We left immediately because clearly this man would not resolve this issue. I heard him bad mouth us as we left too. I’m honestly in disbelief that this man is allowed to display incredibly rude customer service. I’ve seen other people leave bad reviews on him as well. Please please do something about this man, otherwise the rest of your customers will leave as well.

everytime ive been into this store the single staff member has been incredibly rude and dismissive, basically ignoring customers, doing things on his phone behind the counter while people are waiting, would not help find cards (even if it was just one) instead being forced to use a kiosk even when he wasnt busy and was incredibly rude in ALL interactions (wouldn't put purchased cards in sleeves/protectors and when asked refused to close said protector) genuinely not sure how this guy has not been fired yet as he is actively stopping me from going to the central store at this point with how unpleasant and uncaring he is, and from other reviews it looks like many people have had the same encounter with this particular staff member. also did not give a reciept for some reason, and didnt ask if we had an account either. this was at 3:40pm monday 9th September and he seemed to be the only member working.

David was very helpful and friendly. And the vibe here is just awesome.

Given up on trying to give this store a chance, half the times I am here for events I find myself having to check in with the staff to see where the event is at. And ultimately have felt deceived when at the start of an event that had been advertised for maybe. 2 days. It's announced that the prizing is not on site. I understand there can be logistical issues between supplier and store. But there was no reason to run the event now when it could've been ran at a later date. There is no restricted time window they -have- to run the event. I've never felt more disheartened to come back to a shop when I hear that I may receive my goods. By some time next month"."

Least friendly and welcoming TCG store I've been to. Forget about trying to play something unless you bring your own mates with you. Never going back.

This store has been a cornerstone to the local gaming landscape for longer than I've lived in Sydney. The team make this store welcoming for newbies, experienced and casual players. They host most major TCGs, and they are always going that extra mile!

Try and get a staff member to acknowledge your presence. I dare you. Been here multiple times over multiple years to buy/sell singles and sleeves. Never once has someone just said “Hi” as I’ve walked in. Bunch of dorks.

Stopped by last night to buy 3 mtg singles. it took nearly an hour to get them.

This is probably the worst Good Games to go to if you actually want something big. HOWEVER- good games central is the best place in Sydney to find bulk cards for Pauper. After learning this, the store has gained a whole additional star because it is immensely rewarding to trawl through their boxes hunting for rare pauper cards. I have found at least one suffocating fumes there (only place in Sydney that seemingly has it) It also runs some events that others dont

The store itself is an organised play store, so it's more centred around events and such, which is great! However, their stock is just.. low. Always, and the staff absolutely aren't the friendliest. Several times I've gone in and not been assisted until I basically have to go up to the counter, give direct eye contact and ask for help. For the stock they do have in, it's always a good mix of things.

Sooooo much better than Town Halls Good Games. Was able to look at Pokemon cards without feeling stereotyped like at Town Hall. Staff were really nice. Will be back.

Are you addicted to buying cardboard rectangles to read blocks of text to your friends before they cast a 2-mana counter spell? This is the place for you. Staff are nice, lots of events and they have heaps of those pricey rectangles. Only downside is when it gets busy tables are too close and you have people trying to squeeze past. Not worth losing a whole star over tho

I went here to attend Pokemon Lost Origins Pre-release event (50$). It is held over 3 rounds, but some people will leave early because they are busy. It's still pretty fun. My only complain was the place is a bit small, and on that day magic the gathering tournament was held, so it was busy. Still, If you haven't gone to pre-release yet, why not try here for the next one? Just remember to bring your 40-60 sleeves because you have to play the card.

50% of the workers were engaging and seemed like they wanted to be there. The first time I went no one engaged me even though I wandered around the shop. The event page did not describe the event properly so I suggest confirming. For some reason that was not magic related (other card game) they shortened the sealed deck building to 30 min.

David has been a gentleman and a really nice person to meet/ trust his word and I can see him being the owner one day/ he has put my trust in humanity respect and fair value of trade/ I highly recommend this place

Pretty poor selection of the stuff Good Games sells available here combined with creepy, smelly dudes. The smell in here is almost always pretty gross. Not an inviting atmosphere at all. Town Hall is infinitely better

Amazing place, community and tournament staff was super friendly and a lot of good prizes from the end of year tourney. Thanks to the store for organising everything 👍 For some information. We played Vanguard Overdress and they had both V series and D series boosters but not start decks due to bushi not printing more. There are also some mtg stuff and dnd stuff Great store overall 9/10 (because some mtg starter commander decks are overpriced if compared to Amazon)

Great place and variety. Went in for some packs and ended up spinning yarns with Ivan for almost an hour. Got some yugioh packs at a great sale price and also pulled the money card from the set which was the cherry on top

Don't bother buying singles , paying a premium one would expect to get singles sent that are graded accordingly, bought some LP that are inked and edges are worn out, in store service is nice though.

Great range, friendly staff and generally a fun place to hang out. If you come to an event here there is actually enough space with large tables and plenty of chairs. If you just want to pick up a game or two you should find what you are looking for.

This place is so great! The staff are wonderful! I went in wanting to get into D&D and the girl was so nice and friendly, she could answer all of my questions and she didn't mind that I knew nothing about the game lol She told me what I needed to get, she gave me tips on how to run a game, she was awesome! I'll be going back for sure!

I’ve walked past this place so many times over the years - wish I’d gone in for a look sooner! They’ve got so many games and gaming accessories of all varieties - board games, role playing games, dice and tabletop games, card games etc and the staff are somehow so knowledgeable about them all! They’ve managed to pack so much into the shop and they’ve even got space for gathering to play games instore as well. Staff are friendly and willing to help and give advice. I’ll definitely be coming back on a regular basis :)
