About Us

One RSL—Working Together, Delivering Locally

Who We Are and What We Do

Maroubra RSL Sub Branch is a member-based not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers from both serving and ex-serving Defence members, their families, and the community. As part of RSL NSW, we are one of over 340 sub-Branches and chapters across the state. Our mission is to provide veterans and their families with access to essential services, support, camaraderie, and recreational activities.

We coordinate commemorative events such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, and we welcome new members and volunteers to assist in honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans. It’s important to note that RSL NSW and its sub-Branches do not own or operate clubs or benefit from the proceeds of alcohol or gambling. Instead, we work closely with local clubs to support veterans.

Our Vision

By 2026, every veteran in NSW will know what the RSL stands for, what it does, and will want to be involved as a member.

Our Motto

One RSL—Working Together, Delivering Locally.

Commemoration

Maroubra RSL Sub Branch organises and delivers major commemorative events to honor the service and sacrifice of Australian service men and women. These include ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, and other events throughout the year to remember specific segments of those who have served. Through these activities, we ensure that the legacy of our veterans is respected and remembered.

Camaraderie

For over 100 years, the Returned and Services League has provided a continuation of the unique camaraderie and mateship found during service in the Australian Defence Force. Through RSL NSW’s network of over 340 sub-Branches, we bring together more than 27,000 members from diverse backgrounds in a spirit of friendship and cooperation.

History of Maroubra RSL Sub Branch

Supporting veterans and their families has been central to the RSL’s mission since its inception. Today, we provide support through RSL NSW and our partner charities, including RSL LifeCare and RSL DefenceCare.

Sub-Branches

As the local presence of services and support in New South Wales communities, sub-Branches exist to serve veterans and their families. They offer face-to-face support, camaraderie, and connect veterans to a range of available services.

RSL LifeCare and RSL DefenceCare

These organisations provide assistance to:

  • Veterans
  • Current serving ADF members
  • ADF members transitioning to civilian life
  • Family members, partners, and spouses of veterans

RSL DefenceCare assists veterans and their families in navigating the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) compensation and rehabilitation services. They also provide homelessness support, accommodation, financial assistance, and community support.

RSL LifeCare offers services such as the RSL Employment Program, SPUR Equine Program, home care, retirement villages, and aged care facilities.

Advocacy

RSL NSW advocates for the interests of veterans and their families, working with the government to maximize veteran wellness, support, and suicide prevention.

What’s On

Our Monthly General Meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month (second Sunday in September due to Father’s Day) at 1100 hrs. These meetings include a Wreath Laying Ceremony and are followed by lunch. Veterans of all eras are welcome to join us.

Get Involved

We commemorate most military events of national significance and conduct social and commemorative activities that mark major military anniversaries. These events are designed to foster camaraderie among members and guests.

Good place big

The club hosted a Lions club find raiser and I couldn't fault the service, food or atmosphere. Lions raised $10000 on the night

A nice little club with friendly staff - food is mediocre

Good for a quick snack and drink on a week day.

Wow what a pleasant club to attend part of the South Juniors Group We were there for a friends birthday in the Palm Room. The clubs been tastefully renovated really enjoyed the collection of war memorabilia and the food was pretty good 👍 I didn't see any pokies but maybe they are hidden away worth a visit...

As A Returned Service man, was disappointed to see that the RSL, that I was the first Army service from Vietnam. to join the RSL was a full Member. Keith Carter.

Very good place to eat & attend meetings.

Food was delicious..social distancing was respected. Friendly, attentive staff. It was a pleasure to be at this Club.
