Menai Hotel Motel

Very disappointing first time visit to the Menai. We visited the bar area with a group of roughly 13 people and every single one of us was treated absolutely appallingly by a male staff member working behind the bar. Every person in the group was a paying customer and from the very first purchase the male staff member was abrupt and rude telling us to hurry up and order because he had other things to do, we even rang the bell for service at one point and he stormed out and ripped the bell off the bar and slammed it down. We respectfully asked the manager if we could have a confidential chat to address these issues and was denied to move to another location to speak. We then addressed our concerns with the manager and he laughed in our face and showed no care at all about the way his staff member had been treating us. Never again will we visit the Menai nor would I ever recommend it to anyone. Poor management skills and poor customer service skills.

this is a great hotel

Very disappointing for mothers day, a booking for 8 people. 6 meals were incorrect one in particular came out 3 times and was still wrong. All other meals were cold with rock hard eggs. But the most disappointing was the male staff member who was making coffees, arguing extremely rudely about the mistakes, no customer service skills at all. None of us will be back to the venue again.

Out room was big and had great light from a lot of windows. Like a corner suite. But, dirty carpets, tiny bath that had 1950s fixtures. No lift so prepare for some exercise. Did not eat at the restaurant so no comments. Room has microwave and toaster and heat in one of the two rooms. TV was decent. $130, so not expecting a lot. I hope the night will be good in this queen bed with my wife.

Had braised pork belly melt in your mouth. Chips were cold only complaint.

The new menu is top of the range including pizzas burgers and some modern spins on classic pub meals. Cold beer on tap with large selection of top shelf and wines. The main bar has multiple pool tables and dart boards and arcade games A huge amount of seating able to cater for large groups. Highly recommended a visit.

Riddled with Bedbugs! Tried 2 rooms both infested. Dirty rooms, clogged drains, stained carpets, room smells musty and like cigarettes. Manager still charged for the night I stayed with bedbugs wasn't a full refund. Horrible experience.

Unfortunately I needed to stay due to a temporary emergency... Unfortunately it was so bad I went back to sleep in my car. ||Bedbugs riddled the beds. (Was given an upgrade and that had bedbugs too! So I checked out)||Filthy vents, room smells like cigarettes and musky... very poor lighting even with lights on so dark. Carpets stained with who knows what all over the hotel. Questionable people staying there... |Worst hotel experience. On a positive I did get refunded the nights I didn't stay.||Place is almost non salvageable but they aren't even trying to keep up with basic hygiene.

Had a delicious meal

Πολύ παλιό με ανύπαρκτη θέα, ανεπαρκής θέρμανση, τα δωμάτια μύριζαν άσχημα και οι εγκαταστάσεις πχ WC, λουτρό ήταν απλά άθλιες.

The menai has long been a Burnie staple, and back in the day, it was the place to be to see some of the biggest Aussie bands of the time. As happens in many towns over time, it blurred into the background of Burnie and lost some charm. So when we visited family for a weekend away and heard the Menai was doing breakfast and offering a month of buy one brekky and get one free, we thought we'd give it a go.|Well... A revamp/Reno of the bar into a fabulous restaurant/Cafe style space with beautiful views of bass straight, and fabulous service, gave us good vibes and happiness for our morning feels. But nothing could have prepared us for how incredible the food would be. Apart from the fact that 4 of us ordered food that included the Chefs award winning (best in Tasmania 2022) sourdough bread, which was absolutely fresh, flavourful and authentic, the meals were incredible and had us all (group of 6), captured, and planning our next visit. Our 5 year old raised her arms halfway through her crepes and a hashbrown to exclaim best food ever!" |Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back !!"

Absolutely great value for money. My meal was absolutely gorgeous. Friendly staff. Nice area n fun for kids with the couple of games to play. Definitely recommend this place.

It was a wonderful experience with Menai Hotel. I think what I love the most about the hotel is their staff. They are very helpful and kind.

Cramped bathroom, terrible hot water service, paper thin walls and bed was woefully uncomfortable.

Old place, but clean. And the bed was very comfortable. Good linen and towels. Would definitely stay here again.

Yet, they have been a business that genuinely reached out in a crisis, like covid-19.

Nice big hotel with everything you need. The only not modern, no air conditioning or bad heating system. Ok for summer!

Really nice staff. It's a budget hotel but extremely clean and decent value for money.

Very nice friendly staff a great place to stay in Burnie

Not really up to the standard expected by ordinary budget travellers in the 21st century. The staff were pleasant and cheerful but this hotel has seen better days, and is decades overdue for a makeover. Solidy built, it would take an earthquake to shift it, although whoever was playing the doof music until midnight was certainly having a good try. The beds were comfortable and clean, however the list of shortcomings is long, even for a budget hotel. Stained carpets, chipped walls, badly painted wooden drawers and cupboards, broken windowframe, missing lightbulb and the dimmest lighting possible, ancient power points, fittings had been changed without touching up the paint, well worn furniture, you get the picture. Agoda had booked us a 2 bedroom 'family room'. The hotel initially put us in a small single room. When we pointed out the error of their ways they moved us to something which sort of had 2 bedrooms but, bizzarrely, had no bedroom doors. And the bathroom was accessed through one of the bedrooms.

Awesome atmosphere....

Old, overpriced, cold, musky. They put making money above anything else. The music is so loud of a weekend good luck sleeping. It’s sad to see because someone with half a brain could make it half of what it has to be and they’d be laughing. Clearly management are out of touch and behind the times.

Stinky, cold, drab old place. Wouldn’t have had a dollar spent on it in thirty years. Primarily a brothel the locals believe with some parties thrown in on the side.

For cheap cocktails and even cheaper taste in your standards, Menai can cater for everything you so require. Stand by the hot fire to get your juices flowing ready for the night ahead. If you can't get around the budget live bands then maybe try just one more cocktail and it will surely take the edge off enough to get you through. 10/10 bogan spec af

Meals were nice size

Paid for a deluxe queen room, if that was the queen deluxe I'd hate to see the other rooms. Food was disgusting, didn't have the food we ordered so instead of asking what we would like, the just gave us something else. And if the chef has a dessert shop, glad I didn't go to it. We left a night early and stayed somewhere else and paid $10 more a night and got a room 100 times better.

Not happy at all and no security in Carpark

Went in for lunch, Lights were off, and no one at home.
