About Us – The Launceston Workers
WHO ARE WE?
The Launceston Workers Club has been a cornerstone of the Launceston community since 1865. Established as a gathering place for the common workers of Launceston, we are proud to continue this tradition today. Located in the heart of the City of Launceston, we are home to some of the best 8-ball and Snooker tables in Tasmania, and we are the central hub for Darts enthusiasts.
We take pride in offering some of the most affordable drinks in town, and all our profits are reinvested back into the venue to ensure we continue to provide a top-notch experience for our members and guests. Our commitment to the community is unwavering, and we are always eager to support local events. PAST PRESIDENTS
Sir Adye Douglas (1865 – 1905)
On Thursday evening, 18 May 1865, a meeting of members of the Working Man’s Club was held in Trinity School-room. His Worship the Mayor, Adye Douglas, Esq., presided. The Club had 230 enrolled members at the time, and most were present. The rules prepared by the provisional committee were unanimously adopted, and Adye Douglas was elected President.
Sir Adye Douglas (1815-1906) was a lawyer and politician born on 31 May 1815 in Thorpe-next-Norwich, England. He arrived in Launceston in January 1839 and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court in 1842, founding a legal firm that still operates today. He served as Mayor of Launceston in 1865-66 and 1880-82, and was elected to represent Launceston in the first House of Assembly in 1856. He later served as Premier of Tasmania from 1884 to 1886, after which he became Agent-General in London.
Douglas represented Tasmania at the Sydney convention, which led to the formation of the Federal Council of Australasia. At its first session in Hobart, he famously predicted a ‘United States of Australasia, independent of the little island in the Northern Hemisphere’.

Menemani pasangan untuk minum beer dan aku ingin bermain bilyard. Ada beberapa meja bilyard dan papan darts. pengunjung banyak yang bermain. Tiap permainan/table harus membayar 1$ . Tempat luas dan tenang. Pelayan ramah sekali sesekali kami dapat berbincang. Tempat agak sedikit masuk, sehingga anda harus tahu atau menggunakan google map. Namun letak nya di tengah kota. Rekomended banget jika Anda penyuka permainan darts☺️☺️
Dark and dingy. Hard to get service ( unless you were a regular) No ventilation in the toilet for the pot smoker...aroma was quite overwhelming

Amazing and relaxed environment, great space, loved the 8ball tables, we enjoyed the Burlesque show we did there, staff were lovely and friendly, great prices too. Very recommended

Meander Valley Labor Party and I, went to the Change the rules launch, for the Federal Election, well catered.
Very nice place for after work drinks and lovely people there and if you like a game of pool plenty of tables worth checking out if you haven't been there

This place is a start to many things if your into 8ball snooker billiards there are weekly comps 2 nights of Poker 2 bars heeps of room for private function party's weddings ect close to public transport

Great space for a gig. Had Til The Wheels Fall Off festival here and it was awesome. Even the attic upstairs is pretty wicked.
