We stayed here in September 2024. What a fun place to stay. The accommodation was good, clean and matched the feel of the environment. My husband, daughter and I had a great time doing all the activities the were available there. Well worth spending the money to do the cliff walk, cliff jump and other adventures, it was so much fun, we had a ball. Thanks for the adventure.

I stopped by Penny Royal for a quick visit to take a few photos, but I ended up completely falling in love with this place! It’s so beautifully designed, with a unique antique charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The highlight for me was the stunning waterfall—it’s absolutely mesmerizing and adds such a peaceful vibe to the whole area. The surrounding scenery is gorgeous, with lovely details everywhere you look, making it a photographer’s dream. Even though I only planned a short visit, I could’ve spent hours just soaking in the atmosphere. Penny Royal is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, whether for a quick stop or a longer stay to explore more. Highly recommended! 🌿💧✨

Friendly staff, great hotel room, very clean, spacious room, cool views of the back cliffs and waterfall, easy check out system. Excellent spot to stay with about a 15 min walk to Southport restaurants. Exceeded our expectations.

Without a doubt the worst room I’ve ever tried to sleep in. The mattress rattles and squeaks like it’s a dozen years old, so no rolling over without waking your partner. There are no curtains, so the room is lit up all night almost well enough to read. There was a hum all night like a 30,000 volt generator was in the ceiling, so loud that musician ear plugs with the highest rating decibel filter didn’t cut it out. The sound felt like it was coming from everywhere at once in the bathroom, which you could only get to through the “old world charm” door handle more commonly seen on cheap gates, which cracked the air like setting an old bear trap, also waking your partner, and possibly rooms either side. At least the hinge didn’t squeak, which the room above did all the way open and close, suggesting no staff has cared to mention to maintenance to spend 1 minute with a can of DW40. Overall the room was oppressive with its dark ceilings and monochrome mass produced Kmart wall prints. I might have eventually got to sleep through pure exhaustion around 4am, so the long drive home will not be without risk. Drilling through the stone walls somewhere above us started at 9:15, so at least we were all woken in time for checkout, and while the bathroom was last updated in the 70s except for the mixer tap, the shower had great water pressure. I’d love to phone the owners every 15 minutes from 10am until 4am because I don’t want to yell at staff who aren’t to blame. Avoid
