TV needed functional channel options rather than limited free to air or ability to cast content. WiFi was an additional charge to access. Small, budget style breakfast at $30 per menu item. Could get a bigger, quality breakfast for less by going down the road (if you have time).

The staff were friendly and the connecting room facilities were good.

Great stay. Check in was a breeze and was selected as guest for the day and was upgraded with a bottle of wine which was a nice touch. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. We had a box of items that needed to be packed and forgot to get some packing tape. Outstanding effort from reception desk lady, Claire who helped us and found some duct tape and sharpie. Very grateful as it was a public holiday and most shops are closed. There are some shops close by and it isnt too far from the city centre.

Service from our check in staff member was second to none. Service and chat with the barista, along with the quality of coffee, second to none. Quaint room, very well designed for a comfortable stay. We usually fly into Hobart to visit family, from now on we will be flying in to Launceston and staying here. Brilliant.

No weekend food or bar service Restaurant closed, should have been advised. Room is far from vibrant old & dreary, typical ex hospital feel, very disappointed & very bad advert for Accor.

Can not rate highly enough. Tim’s phenomenal service in the restaurant was absolutely second to none. Myself and my family really appreciated his hard work and flexibility in accommodating us. As always, the food was perfect. All up, we had a wonderful evening and I can’t stress enough the night was made even better for our family thanks to Tim. Great work, much appreciated!

Your staff are AMAZING! Really helpful kind and efficient, a hard mix to get right! I don't know how you managed to lure someone like Tim into the restaurant, but he was an excellent sommelier as well as waiter and I really enjoyed his recommendations. What a gem you have there. Breakfast staff were also lovely, as was breakfast for that matter! The room was large and well equipped and very clean with only one small gripe. The windows looked like the historic home of a thousand spiders that had been abandoned! A clean would be good.

I rarely eat in hotels and glad I did this time and will continue to. The chef was 1st class serving fresh quality food. The accomodation was great, just a little disappointing the room I had required maintenance and I had to change rooms the next day. Most of the front of house was friendly bar a couple and the restaurant staff were awesome.

The hotel is in a renovated hospital and it shows. The room is cold and sterile... even the public areas are dark and unwelcoming. That said, the bed is comfortable, there is plenty of storage, lots of outlets, and the bathroom is huge...big enough to wheel in gurney. Which does make it seem strange that the shower is so small and narrow when there is space for it to be less cramped. The parking is very inconvenient and, if you don't have a car, it's not a great neighborhood for walking to restaurants and shopping. The staff is friendly and we were told by some people in town that the restaurant in the hotel is highly regarded, though we didn't try it.

One of the best I’ve stayed in Launceston. The 5 stars for service is dedicated to the restaurant and staff.

The restaurant here is simply amazing in food quality. They could have done better with marketing. This restaurant is a true hidden gem in the middle of Launceston. I stayed here for few nights. Had breakfasts and dinner. The breakfast is top notch. But dinner experience from service, food quality and chef expertise in the the food are excellent. The food from inhouse chef are just simply amazing 10 out of 10 for me. Entrée and mains have a bit of Asian fusion in them .. make the meal very pleasant and tasty. Highly recommended for visitors for a occasion seeking for good dinner and worth the pocket. Enjoy

The hotel was clean. Room was decent size. Bit of a walk from the town centre. Service was good too - nothing special.

Compared to other places in Launceston it’s pretty good, the bathrooms are large and do not steam up which is great, mattress was a 6/10, really would have like more pillow options as they were all large feather pillows, staff at the restaurant are lovely

Mantra Charles is our Launceston go-to and our as always it was delightful. Appreciated the attentive staff at reception and dining room, the thoughtful welcome gift and a bottle of red with a personalised welcoming message in our upgraded room.

I just had the single most delicious and quality dinner entrée and meal in my two weeks stay in Australia. I am from the United States in Colorado in resort towns and can be quite critical of high-quality food in a well functioning restaurant. It Tasmanian seared scallops, blew me away. The flavors and freshness. And throughout our whole stay at the Monterey Charles hotel all of the staff have been genuinely helpful interesting fun and solution oriented during a challenging time for us visiting the nearby hospital. When we return to Tasmania, this is where we will stay.

We went on a short break . Stayed at mantra for 3 nights . Everyone was lovely. The room was lovely . The restaurant was exceptional . Food and service was excellent. Launceston very beautiful 🙂

My go to Hotel when Im in the North of Tassie. Great staff, nice rooms, location at a quiet end of town.

This was a 'bucket list' item because I was a student nurse at the hospital about 45 years ago. It was good to see that the integrity of the original building remains.

We really did like the Mantra Charles hotel… the location is wonderful (only 15min walk to all restaurants and river), it’s modern/new, the staff is friendly and it has free parking. What’s not to like? Well: be very concerned which room you are being assigned to. After reserving the “executive suite” (and asking if we could have a room “with a view”, we were assigned room 213 - oh my! What a bad location (in the hotel complex): it’s right above the kitchen, above the loading dock, with a view onto a concrete wall, and the noisy elevator right in front of it. Do NOT accept rooms 113, 213, 313 (or close by) if you like to sleep with your window/balcony open. Dear Hotel Management (should you read all this). Please advise your staff to NOT assign rooms facing that dreaded back-ally until you ask the guest: “Ma’m/Sir: would you like to be woken up at 6:30am with bacon smell while the kitchen is preparing breakfast?” “Ma’m/Sir: would you like to be woken up at 7:30am with the beeping noise of delivery trucks backing into that alley?” “Ma’m/Sir: would you like to be woken up at 8:30am while the cleaning staff rolls their cars noisily over the tiles in the elevators area?” “Ma’m/Sir: would you like to close your balcony door at ~6pm while the kitchen is preparing dinner, because the smell is overpowering?” Only if a guest answers ALL 4 questions with a YES! should you assign those rooms. I am making light of all this: we could have changed rooms but my wife had unpacked and spread out her make-up station, it was too much hassle. However, in hindsight I wished we had moved. Dear staff: you’ve been very kind/friendly - just please take that advice to heart: for the love of god, don’t assign those rooms! Cheers

Great location being only a few minutes drive from the CBD. Check in was quick, friendly and informative with all amenities and services available to us. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was included with our room. Nicole was great, with a super friendly attitude with no request too much trouble. Great service and the food was good. Will definitely be staying here again ☺️

We had a fantastic stay at the Mantra Charles Hotel. The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean, making for a very comfortable stay. It was a lovely touch to receive a complimentary bottle of Tasmanian Pinot Noir, adding to the local experience. A special shout-out to Nicole in the restaurant at breakfast—she was incredibly friendly, cheerful, and truly an outstanding ambassador for the hotel. Her warm service made our mornings even better. We’ll definitely be returning!

The room was very clean and spacious with a nice wide desk for work.|A comment is they state there is no room service which can be inconvenient if you arrive late. However, at the restaurant I found out you can order room service after 8.30pm? More clarity should be provided.|Another point to consider is the limited parking during business hours. Most of the spots were full and probably taken up by other businesses which makes it difficult. However, the staff did manage to get me a spot after I checked in.

What a great clean and comfortable hotel to stay in Launceston. The staff are lovely polite people who greet you each time you enter or pass through the lobby. Had a fantastic breakfast. The hotel is well kept and looked after. When I couldn't work the spa or the coffee machine reception sent up the maintenance man who showed me how to operate. Will gladly recommend to anyone to stay here and when I visit Launceston again this will be the only place I will stay. If you have someone staying at the hospital this hote is across the road.

We were on a short overnight stay and all we needed was great sleep, a good shower, and a quiet room - the 'holy grail' combination! We were so happy at this hotel - the king bed was comfy, the room was incredibly quiet and very clean, and the shower had great water pressure and temperature. The added bonuses were the parking (included in the room rate) and the friendly staff at reception, who gave us a warm welcome and explained the perks of our Accor membership. We weren't there long, but we had a fantastic stay and we hope to return soon.

Always a pleasure to stay here. Just WISH they did room service...this does let it down.

Recently had 5 nights stay. Clean and comfortable room. Restaurant meals were excellent and service was of high standard. Would stay again.

It was a very nice room that was booked for us last minute as we were staying due to an unexpected visit to the hospital. When I booked I was told they had 24 hour check in and we went to check in at 1 am. I was told that my booking was for the day before, technically correct. After being told about how their computer system worked multiple times I eventually got into the room for a snooze. The room was lovely and quality, though one of the blinds was a bit knackered. Only fault was that I don't need to know how the computer system worked, just that we could get into our room. On initial contact the receptionist was talking like it may not have been possible. Glad it was.

A nice hotel with nice rooms but my recent stay, May 2024 was not good, the rooms are still fairly nice, the location is great but the smoke from outside was drawn into my room and then the air-conditioning unit just warms it up but does not exhaust it, my room was smokey all night and by 3am I gave up trying to sleep, itchy eyes and throat. Reception came up and agreed on the smoke but could do nothing so I just had to leave, with a 6 hour work journey ahead of me I had only 1 hour of sleep and had to cancel all work commitments for that day and return to Hobart. If this issue is fixed it would be a great hotel. I did receive a nice response from the hotel manager and an apology, I believe he will try and remedy the issue, very nice fellow to chat to.

Good location and an easy walk to various cafe's etc in the general area. Also great location if you want or need to be close to the hospital/specialists for various reasons. Room was very clean and tidy (basic kitchen amenities in our room appreciated), helpful and friendly staff with free onsite parking. The restaurant is small but food was good (we had breakfast only) with a small bar area located in the area as well. Relaxing lounges, quiet and calm. Would happily stay again.

The bed was very hard, no foxtel tv, restaurant was closed for dinner over the weekend which was an absolute joke these days who doesnt provide this to paying guests! but not having the restaurant open for dinner over the weekend and no internet tv when their website advertises that it does was really the killer for us, we wont be returning

Situated at a quiet location. Receptionists were helpful and friendly. Just need several minutes to supermarket and shops.

rooms are lovely and clean only negative is the pillows. The service at the mantra charles reception is exceptional. I would also like to highlight Nicole who works in the restaurant where we had breakfast both days she had very personable service and ran the floor exceptionally.

The staff here are absolute treasures. I am terrible with names, but want to specially note the restaurant manager who helped us arrange very early morning to-go breakies and made us coffees before the restaurant opened over the Easter long weekend. Everyone at the desk was approachable, very easy to talk to and generally had a friendly and helpful vibe. I wish it was located closer to the middle of the city, the hikes to and fro were a bit taxing. The room was reasonably clean and had the basics, but there was other peoples' hair in the sheets and over the carpet. I also prefer to have the minibar in-room, not at reception. I should note that we did have the choice of two types of pillow in the room, so management has responded to some of the reviews here. I really appreciated that, like other hotels, there is an eco policy for room cleaning, but unlike other hotels it is incentivised, so people are more likely to observe it.

Please have another option in the pillow department 🙏 These 2 story high things are horrible 😫

Lovely meal in the Restaurant service was great. Would have liked a more comfortable chair in room to sit and read. The ones provided low backed and very heavy.

Unfortunately not the best experience, which was disappointing after a great stay at Mantra in Hobart. Website promised parking onsite but no hotel spots were left when we showed up mid-afternoon. We were told we could leave the car in another spot but we'd have to move it at 8:30 am, which forced an early check-out since there were no spots the next day either. Staff acted surprised but prior reviews show this isn't new. Room reeked of cigarette smoke and there was an empty pack on the balcony. Shower flooded the floor in the bathroom despite using the bath mat. Loud construction noise from next door starting around 7:30 am (though I know this isn't their fault). Really should have bookable parking spots like Mantra Hobart if there is consistently not space (and this was a weekday) - not sure what we'd have done if we were there more than one night.

The staff were amazing. Professional, friendly and accommodating. A staff member had to move there car just to accommodate us as there wasn't enough car spaces.

After traveling around Tasmania for the last 9 days staying in budget motels and cabins, this place was a step above the rest. To be honest, I’d forgotten I’d booked this place because it was done 4 months ago. The room was spacious and the aircon was already on when I arrived lugging in my heavy backpack so that was lovely and just what was needed. The Kingsize bed was firm but not uncomfortable. The temperature and bed were perfect for sleeping for me. I loved the interesting blind design. The shower had great pressure and I loved the tile design. There was zero noise coming from the window or the side rooms. A great way to spend my second to last night in Tasmania after ‘roughing’ it. It was a shame that the restaurant and bar was shut till mid Jan. I would definitely book here again if I was staying a few days.

Our room was super spacious and comfortable with an espresso machine, kitchenette and lovely soaps and lotion. Breakfast to order with espresso drinks included!! Loved it.
