The place is decent with a historical touch. The receptionist is friendly and gave us dinner suggestion while we checked in late. Be aware that there is no elevator in the building we stayed, in case you need to carry your heavy luggage

Great location. Lots of parking. Nice buffet breakfast. Rooms are a good size. Repeat guest here. I booked the cheapest room both times on Expedia because the photo has a walking shower, and both times I got the room with the shower over the bath. You don't always get what you see.

This old hotel is an absolute gem! It’s beautifully maintained and kept, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond to make sure we could access our when our flights were delayed and we weren’t going to make it on time. It’s a treasure trove of a place, it is close to everything you could need.

Great place to stay in Launceston. Easily walkable to everything in town. Rooms very comfortable. No lift and car park is a bit tight but all in all, good place!

We had the best experience staying at this hotel. The reception lady and the manager are super helpful and really take care of their guests. The rooms are big, very clean and service is excellent. They even helped us instantly with replacing the TV and heating up our food boxes on Christmas day when there are no restaurants or facilities opened. A big thank you to the hotel staff. We will certainly come back and recommend this place to our family and friends.

1. 3 out of 4 cups in the room was dirty with coffee stains. 2. They damaged my phone charger plug. I complaint about this at checkout. The person behind the counter took a photo of the damage and said she will pass it on to the manager who will call me about this. 3 days later i called back as I never got a call back, and they said will get manager to call me. 5 days later I called again and was told the same. Now its been 11 days and still no one has called me. It is absolutely disappointing and disrespectful treatment from this hotel. I am sure if I had broken something in the room they would have debited from my credit card immediately. 1 month has passed and i still have not been reimbursed. I emailed invoice and bank details for new charger and its been a week with no reply. This is extremely poor customer service. Having to chase them when it should be the other way around. Maybe i should have requested their credit card when i checked in so i can charge them for this damage straightaway!!!

The gardens are a delight to take a stroll around, Hotel itself has a lovely old world vibe, meeting modern comforts. (They even supply dressing gowns). Wicked hotel, really good location, we stay all the time, the gardens are beautiful and they have just put in an electric vehicle charger for anyone who has an electric car. |They are currently undergoing renovations and when that’s done there will be more nice rooms and more car parks|The owner is so friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure that you have a good stay !

Stayed here several times, free parking, easy walking distance to the cbd if you're able to for eating & shopping. Comfy rooms with aircon, quiet each time we've stayed. An older style hotel but ticks all the boxes for us. Pleasant friendly helpful staff who offered to drive us to an appointment when google maps were sending us somewhere else so caused some last-minute confusion. Restaurant which we've used before & was great but not open sun nights so we ate at the Star Bar which was great. Highly recommend.

Pretty good experience all round. Night box for late arrivals is available however I never received prior information on how to retrieve my key so i had to ring emergency number to get the code. Email sent with key box codes would solve this. Rooms are quiet & tidy, nice restaurant attached on the high side (Three Sisters Restaurant).

Beware of pricing! Their website rates are much higher than the booking services or walk in! $70 or more difference per night. Three Steps on George has really declined in quality. We stayed here numerous times but won’t be again. Very disappointed.

Rarely have I experienced such a dismal excuse for a hotel. The standard of the fittings and cleanliness leave much to be desired. The easy chair in our room should have been thrown away years ago, it is dirty and split. Quite frankly it is very unlikely that we would

I was booked at the Colonial through my consultancy partners, I was working for the week. The room was dated and old fashioned on the ground floir right next to the redevelopment of the hotel. The noise started with drills, hammering, foot traffic and just general construction noise from around 6am. I was booked in for 6 nights I left after after 3 very tired. I also had dinner at the Three Steps restaurant it was fine but expensive for what it was. Sorry guys ypu need to step up your game.

How cute are the dogs sitting up on the sign?!!! Well the only reason they sit up there is because the owner beats them until they stay there! DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL, (5 star review so it gets to the top)

The room was lovely with old period fittings but the kitchenette was very modern. Traffic noise was very quite so not an issue. Very comfortable beds. Overall a lovely place to stay and we will certainly make it our place to stay when in launceston.

The customer service at this hotel is terrible. As one of those impacted by Bonza's liquidation, our trip was cancelled at late notice. Despite being told over the phone by the hotel that I would only be charged one night fee for cancelling last minute, I was charged both nights of my booking. When I emailed the hotel asking for their consideration in this case and a part refund, I was offered a credit for one night to be used within 6 months. As someone who can rarely afford to travel and the booking was a special occasion (10yr wedding anniversary), a booking within 6 months is not an option for me. I am very disappointed with this hotel, and their lack of understanding with those customers impacted by Bonza's liquidation. I understand the hotel is a business which needs to make money but taking both nights accommodation reflects poor customer service and a greedy business philosophy.

Enjoyable place to stay close to the centre of town.

What a great location! Last day of our Tassie Tour. Parking on-site can be a challenge due to the confines of the area and steepness. Pity room 207 was so old and tired. For the money we paid and compared to other hotels this was definitely overpriced. The decor in the room is ancient and not well maintained. The sofa in the room was old and DIRTY. There was an office chair in the room which I tried to sit on and immediately fell to the floor. It's broken, remove it!!!!! The bed was horrible, Old Queen mattress when you rolled close to the edge the side collapsed and I fell out of bed several times until I gave up and let my wife sleep in the middle and I moved to the floor. I'm small in size, so it's not a weight issue. All the issues happened after office hours and we checked out before the office was open. Personally I would never recommend this place as there are better places to stay in Launceston for the same price. The room really bared no resemblance to the online pics. I am only commenting on a specific room - 207. It would not be fare of me to comment on other rooms which might be fine and would be interested to here what the hotel management have to say. As a side note, the staff during the evening check-in were wonderful. Pity we did not realise the issues until after office hours.

We had a very early flight, and We were tired , they kindly got our room quickly ready and gave us it for midday . Nothing was too much trouble. Great meal in the restaurant for dinner and the bar and atmosphere very old world . Top stay would definitely recommend any person to book. Pauline ( Sydney northern beaches)

The Quality Hotel Colonial Launceston is an excellent hotel for the cost. The rate I got made it the best value in town. I will say the black tiled bathroom is funky.

Catalina Van Vlijmen Two Weeks Ago. I totally enjoyed my stay at Historic Style Colonial Hotel. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and spacious room. The bar fridge was full of goodies that provides your needs. The architecture of the place really fascinates me and really amazing. The staff were very helpful and very friendly. The owner was kind and generous. I will stay there again next time Ill be in Launceston Tasmania.Highly recommended. .

It's definitely a 5 star hotel service experience the only thing is I have to say that's negative is I wish the food was a little bit more affordable than what it is.

Very quiet accommodation considering it is in the middle of Launceston. Great rooms. Be aware that there are no lifts so if you have an upstairs room you will need to carry your bags up and down. This was not a problem for me. I had an upstairs balcony queen room with ensuite. Had a choice of a cooked or continental breakfast served in the dining room. Room service is also available. Parking available. Would definitely stay here again.

Very handy to town. Older property but mainly well maintained. Tip for those with mobility issues is to ask for a ground floor room as the property does not have elevators so carrying luggage to your room may be a challenge. Good pub and restaurant attached to the property. Has a Tesla charger for guest use ✔️

Good value at short notice (flight cancellation) - very clean rooms at a reasonable price - beautiful preserved/restored colonial building and nearby restaurant - excellent and professional service from staff Main downside was the bedroom walls are not very soundproof - woken by morning alarms in neighbouring rooms and sound of showers etc. Also, strangely, some powerpoints in the room did not work? Overall would happily stay again :)

Went to have at the bar, was just me and my partner, had the lovely bar guy and he was so accommodating with our wine selection, we loved the local Chardonnay, Josef something? Said we get the bottle to take with in our trio with us tomorrow. Asked to buy the Pinot Noir and also asked if we can have a quick taste and the young girl behind the bar who was very busy chatting to the another couple/patrons , went off at the young waiter a and said no! To us and smirked at the couple she was conversing with. Bit balky with her attitude, had she attending to us in a positive manner, we would have bought a few bottles to take with us, unfortunately this girl, Alinda I think her name is, is not helping your business Thank you

Some old-world charm. The room was quite nice. The bathroom could use some exit mould :) This was the only bad thing I could say. The food at the Three Steps was exceptional, and the breakfast in the hotel restaurant was awesome. The service was super friendly and helpful.

The room was in such great location to CBD and St Vincent Hospital. The room was very clean. Would stay again and recommend.

We had a great stay in this heritage hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Dale carried our bags up 2 flights of stairs and Ben did this on our return. We would certainly come back next time in Launceston

The Colonial Hotel in Launceston is centrally located in the Launceston CBD with a 5 to 10 minute walk to food, shops. The hotel itself is well maintained even if a bit older in style however advantage with this is that there are ample amount of power ports to charge your devices. Staff are very friendly, rooms are cleaned daily, it's got lots of car park space to park hire vehicles and even a gym although not really equipped for those fitness buffs. Also if you like high speed wifi or lots of options on pay TV this is not the place for you. Definitely would stay here again.

Was great to have a night at a motel they you weren't woken up by outside noise. Although a bit of age showing at this hotel i did like it. The room was spacious to spread out for work and the shower was hot!. Having a restaurant on site ticks my box.

Overall very unimpressed. Upon checking in at around 8.30pm the receptionist was not helpful and also made rude comments. The room's AC did not work. Upon inspection we found that the filters were filthy, totally clogged. Obviously never been serviced. After removal the AC did work but had to be set at 29c. The toilet roll holder was situated such that one had to be a contortionist to access the paper, (thus the reason the toilet seat was at angle). The carpark is certainly not user friendly, quite difficult. Breakfast was disappointing, staff in a hurry to clear up and the hot foods had obviously been put out at 7am and not inspected nor topped up afterwards thus the food was congealing. The restaurant staff were friendly but the food was poor, especially the scallops. Out of season so they should not have ben on the menu. The staff had no idea how to present a gin and tonic. Residents of the hotel coming in at 8.55pm were told the bar was closed, extraordinary. The staff were ok when we checked out.

Was visiting Launceston for work. My stay was almost ruined by a 'family from hell' in a nearby room who were making noise off the scale😬 To the credit of the staff they alerted the family of the disruption they were causing but were also very considerate in contacting myself (and I presume other guests in the vicinity) to apologise for the noise and any disruption to my stay. To the credit of management and the team, what could have been an awkward situation was averted and I am very grateful for their intervention. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Staff at reception and in the restaurant were super friendly and helpful. We stayed in a Queen deluxe room with a balcony which we found spacious and clean. Parking is a bit tight. Easy walk to CBD. Highly recommend.
