I was in the area today, Friday, and I thought I'd go in and try the lunch specials, or as a pensioner, the senior meals. I was informed there was neither so I walked out. Surely you can have something smaller for senior meals or have some lunch special during the week at lunch time?

I can't thank and recommend this place enough. We went to see Coolbritainia last night and they were brilliant. I have a bad knee at the moment and the staff went out of their way to find me the best seat, also let me in before anyone else so that I didn't need to stand for a long time. We also had a great meal and will certainly go back . Thanks once again from Lynne .

I would like to see more music here but the mixing should be improved. It's always the same, too much fiddling and not getting it right. Get it right and leave it. He wears ear plugs so why are we exposing ourselves? Who is responsible for quality and quantity? Too loud and over done bass, we won't come. I can hear every adjustment and it's not good. 😞 I like everything else so great job but now to sort out the mixing. 👍

Great food, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere

This place was an absolute train wreck, the staff were very clearly stressed and uncoordinated and it made for an uncomfortable experience sitting at my table, the food was good at best however the kitchen staff struggled immensely to actually get the FOH to run the meals in the first place, just as well the had Guinness otherwise I would not have stayed.

I've only been here 3 times but I have nothing but great things to say about the Wallaby. Live music is awesome, drinks are reasonably priced, the culture and overall energy is unlike anything I've seen at other pubs(especially on the Gold Coast), and best of all, the bar staff and the locals are all lovely and have always made me feel welcome so thank you!! Haven't tried the food yet but will eventually. 10/10 can reccomend and will be back in the near future:))

So glad we popped in and checked out this hotel. The food was beautifully prepared and the staff so friendly and helpful - in particular our waitress Michelle who recommended our dishes, Chicken Supreme and the Smashed Burger. If the Duty Manager didn’t talk me into the “Double” Burger It would have been 2 stars but we feel so cheated we were happy to not even ask for our money back and left the venue to go elsewhere never to return. Being told how good the double meat burger is, well sorry to break it to you guys but look at the photos. Literally just reduced the size of 1 Pattie into 2 so it was a meaty centre with full bread outter (see photos). The barramundi is not worth $35 in that state. Even the waitstaff were clueless when she took most of the food back and we said it’s wasn’t great. An automatic “I’m sorry” as she took everything without even asking what was wrong. The whole place had a very poor vibe, maybe because we aren’t tradies smoking on the veranda. Was hoping for a good local that doesn’t feel like a Woolworths pub, this isn’t not the place. Probably great if you are covered in mud and want a smoke and a schooner but I recommend trying to get a decent Pub Lunch there.

Popped in today for a feed for lunch. Thought I’d do take away. Spoke with a very kind manager in the bistro, she was very thoughtful and I ordered the Grilled Barramundi with Calamari, chips and salad. Absolutely delicious. Presentation was surprisingly great considering it was takeaway. The Barra was rich, the Calamari was cooked perfectly, chips seasoned and cooked wellI was very impressed with the meal. Will be back again for sure.

Meals cold, 3 people was quiet so no excuse for veges & chips to be cold. Will not visit again

I have had lunch at The Wallaby four times this year with a variety of family, friends and work colleagues.|On each occasion the food and service have been excellent. The meals are always hot, the chips scorchingly so. The schnitties, steaks and seafood are always perfectly cooked, the salads fresh, colourful and crunchy. The staff are polite, professional and personable.|We have eaten at many other pubs and clubs on the Gold Coast in recent times, frequently disappointed with cold meals, and slow and indifferent service.|Not at The Wallaby! Consistently excellent fare, consistently impeccable service. |Highly recommended!

The food is fantastic. Great portions and value for money. Great atmosphere except for having the airconditioning on very cold was extremely uncomfortable and made our meals cold very quickly.

We have been to the Wallaby a few times and last night was probably our last time. A friend and I ordered 2 medium rare rumps and they arrived well done and medium well. We were reluctant to complain, but it was so chewy that it just wasn’t enjoyable. The staff were very apologetic and organised for 2 new medium rare and rare steaks. They also tried to say that it was chewy because of the cut of steak, not the way it was cooked?! Both steaks arrived again with no blood or juice in sight. I’m not sure if the chef has been trained properly as to how to cook a steak. My husband ordered a chicken burger and he came home and vomited it all up. Can’t be certain it was related but we just have no desire to go back again. Shame really

One of the himany foreign owned pubs trying to stop Australians celebrating Australia Day.

Terribly disappointed to see this historic pub has jumped on the anti-Australia day bandwagon. As much as I loved this place, you'll never see catch me here until something changes. Shame.

I just wanted to leave a review to warn people about the parmy stitch up!! Purchased parmy which had 2 sizes on the menu, I would have thought it would have been a normal size and than a big one..... but actually the smaller size was just a normal size parmy that had been cut in half. hahaha what a joke!

This was once a great venue. What a shame its current owners wish to dictate which events Australians can and can’t celebrate - refusing to allow Australia Day celebrations but happily taking money from hard working Aussies through poker machine revenue. Won’t ever be setting foot in this sorry excuse for a pub again!

While travelling about we popped into the Wallaby. We we're served by Chilli who recommended delicious huge meals that our whole family loved. After lunch the kids played on the equipment while we enjoyed a drink. All in all an enjoyable experience. Will definitely return.

I've lived on the Gold Coast most of my life and had never been to this iconic Hotel. I walk in the door and there's a female Duty Manager (dressed in black) feeding her face behind the bar. That's an absolute no no in the hospitality industry. It wreaks of unprofessional at it's highest. She says absolutely nothing to me, walks off and gets the bar staff to take my order. Ordered 250g Rump with Salad and chips. $32 it cost. Steak was cooked correctly but it was tough. Salad was one slice of tomato and a very small vingerette salad which comprised of little bits of lettuce and red onion. The gravy that came with the meal was nothing short of disgusting. Tasted like hospital gravy. Overall I give this dining experience a 3/10. Train your staff correctly would be the first bit of advice I can give Management. I love giving reviews on quiet nights. It gives you a true indication of what's happening. Never again!

We were in the function room for 18th party. It was great. The bar lady did an absolutely awesome job and the food platters were fabulous. Overall everyone had a great time. Would def recommend this room for any party.

What a great pub! It’s an old school pub thats been renovated but still has its charm about it, staff are awesome, best chicken schnitzel I’ve had in a long time, well done chefs. Kids play area with playground and colouring is also always a hit!

The seafood pasta is top shelf, the jam nights are fun, and the staff are awesome! I love the joint!

I always appreciate the bistro supervisor Chilli, she deserves a higher role due to her intelligence, competencies and work ethic keeps. Jj is another manager that I always appreciate, she lightens up my whole day with great bengery.

I ordered corn flakes coated chicken burger. There was no chicken in coating. I was then given replacement of chicken schnitzel. very little flavour

We always love visiting this pub. It's a great venue with lovely staff.||I had the jalapeño poppers, which were lovely, but the side of creamy mash was stodgy and definitely not creamy.||Phil's lamb kofta bugger was a good tasting lamb burger, but nothing outstanding. ||All in all it was a pleasant visit, with a good choice of meals to suit all tastes.

Christmas in July had a lovely meal staff were very friendly. Yes would return again as we are locals.

Went to see Travis Collin’s paid $49 each The sound was terrible, and boy did they pack them in. 1 plastic cup of beer and half plastic cup of wine $26.50. Rip off

Steak and Schnitzels were great. The battered fish was extremely greasy and not that nice. It was a cold night and staff had doors to outside propped open so was freezing. Would not go back in Winter unless rugged up in lots of warm clothes. I ended up wearing my beanie

We dined at the wallaby bistro and received the most outstanding service from Tayla. She was friendly, helpful and professional. The Wallaby is lucky to have her. The food was delicious and we were so thrilled with the kids eat free deal on Mondays. Thank you Wallaby and a HUGE thank you to Tayla! We will absolutely be back!
