The History of Burleigh Bowls
The Burleigh Heads Bowls Club officially opened in 1937. Over the years, the greens have undergone significant changes. In 1939, additional land was requested from the council, leading to the expansion of the grounds. By 1958, the greens were divided into their current layout to improve playability. The club has a rich history, with contributions from the Nerang Shire Council and the Queensland Bowling Association, making it a cornerstone of the Burleigh Heads community.

Could tell the food was frozen should have just had toast and wheetbix
Always great meals when we're on holidays
We had a voucher . We brought it in and told they NOT accept it in a NOT nice way. That was the ONLY disappointing spot during our trip in Burleigh heads.
Highly recommended by a lovely extended family staying at Burleigh Palms Apartments (singer Sue) and now highly recommended by us. Great food, great atmosphere.
Great food & staff. Had dinner and drinks, highly recommend.
Great place to be with friends and family
Pretty horrified and disgusted with the level of behaviour the staff and security exhibit here. I was here with colleagues for an end of year catch up, to only have one of them removed by staff for slurring their words - this person has a disability, it wasn’t a slur, it was a lisp. Then, whenever somebody attempted to calmly explain this was the case, they were forcibly removed. It hit a boiling point where security threw a 19 year old onto the road, narrowly avoiding him being hit by a car. Regardless of any situation, it barely justifies that sort of response. Utterly appalling. We are so looking forward to comment from the venue, along with the footage. Save yourself the potential of being assaulted and discriminated against by ableist, hateful bigots and find somewhere else.
Kicked out an entire Christmas party group as a result of a member recovering from a. Oral cancer surgery, any part of the group attempting to rectify the situation was forcibly removed, in one case, with the use of excessive violence
The food is excellent! Service is quick, very popular and you need to book a table
Got the rump steak from here, was really gross it's like they boiled it or something.. I could cook a better steak with my eyes closed, do not get the rump :/
Great setup with an excellent range on tap.
Good value crap food
Wonderful day with ladies who took me under their wings. I I'm back in n z now but was lovely 😍
Had a meal here on Friday night included raffles and members draw. Happy hour on Friday. Snitty wasn’t the best and salad was second rate
If I could give 0 stars I would. Initially enquired in April 2023 about booking Burleigh Bowls for our post wedding event on 20 September for approx. 50-100 people for an arvo of bowls & drinks. Finalised & paid $200 deposit in September 2023. Was told yesterday (10 days prior to our event) that there had been a policy change & that we now needed to pay for every single person to bowl. Near impossible given it's a casual arvo event where people can show up & leave as they please. I was told in writing that as long as the $200 deposit was paid and used towards bowls that we could just pay for anyone else who wanted to bowl on the day. When I called about the policy change that I was expected to abide by 12 months after confirming my booking, Kiri, who is the rude, condescending manager, wouldn't budge & stated it was a new policy & that I couldn't expect to have a space booked out for just $200. Even though that was what was agreed at the time. Even with EVERYTHING in writing, I was still being forced to pay more money if I wanted to keep the space I had booked in September last year. Kiri even had the audacity to say to me on the phone 'yeah I'm sure this isn't the kind of stress you need right before your wedding'. I have since cancelled my booking, and thankfully found another venue, who were very helpful and polite considering they have been given just 9 days notice. When I asked to speak with Kiri on the phone about cancelling, she cowardly declined to speak with me. She was so worried about the fact I had only paid $200, forgetting that 50-100 people would be spending copious amounts of money for an entire afternoon on drinks, so jokes on her. Burleigh Bowls won't get another cent from me as long as Kiri works at that establishment. I would like to end by saying Ali, at Burleigh Bowls, was extremely lovely, polite & professional & did everything she could to help with my booking.
Great for a cold beer and watching the bowlers compete.
Was 20 for a family of 4 to bowl for three hours. The experience was 5 stars. Only issue for me is that the restaurant food we got wasn’t very good. It would be nice to have e better finger foods available rather than pre frozen.
Great fellow members and excellent meals
Very disappointed- booked a night for dinner & game of Trivia some 2 months ago to ensure we could get a table as we know from previous times we have been holidaying in Burleigh how popular it is only to be told that they have the booking for dinner but not Trivia couldn't secure a place as the were already overbooked but could still come for dinner but if we participated in Trivia where we were to be seated we may have trouble hearing. Just not good enough.
Friendly place
VG food.
Food was good
One of the best and most welcoming bowls clubs I’ve ever visited, I spent hours practicing (for free) as an affiliated member, the food was great, and it’s basically across the road from the ocean, best bowls club ever!
Good place for a drink or lunch or dinner at a good price.
Great value for money. Food is standard bowls club fair, although they specialise in asian cuisine which is fine well. Probably the only place in Burleigh that you’ll get a feed and beer for a reasonable price.
Great atmosphere
I left a great review for the kitchen at Burleigh heads bowls club a few years ago but they have really dropped the ball since then , the chef seems to have lost his passion for cooking and his Asian dishes that were really good are nothing but watery rubbish with chicken that looks and tastes like ibis, really disappointing, pick up your game ,won't be eating there again also heard so many others complaints about the food there from there members, on a positive note there greens have really improved for bowling well done to the green keepers with all the barefooters making it such a challenge to maintain
Great food - good size and tasty. Nice atmosphere too. Thank you
Great vibe on a Saturday night - We went for barefoot bowls for a friends birthday. Staff were friendly and super helpful, let us store cake in the fridge. Drinks were reasonable in price and the live band was great. Interior was a bit tired, the only reason for one less star. Everything else was great. Have also been here for two up's on ANZAC day and it goes OFF! Best two-ups we've been to, they had a DJ and everything!
Lovely bowling club & very friendly staff.
Food was great. Bruce the bare foot bowls teacher was great
Great lunch Great price, Bar staff could be bit friendlier..
Rocked up at 7.40 pm and was told they were closed. Website says closed at 8pm for bistro. Why doesn’t the website say closed when not busy ????. Went without dinner that night as planned to eat at this club. Thanks for the empty belly.
Best chicken chow mein in Australia!
Great place for an arvo drink and a chat. We'll be back up there in march. Look forward to being back.
I had a good night here. Well, priced meals and some dance music to go with all of this
Great spot for barefoot bowls and a drink.
On Sat 25th nov we had our Branch Barefoot Bowls xmas party at the BBC What a Great Day From organizing the event and finger food the staff made it such a Great & Relaxing Time. Thanks again and see you for our 2024 xmas party
Good food and staff service, as far as dancing, I could only say it is a ver very poor dance, probably the worst on the coast it feels as if you dance floor of sticky tape. Unfortunately I do not think that I will be going to the club in the future. I have friends that feel the same.
Had a Xmas breakup there, food was continually being topped up, the beers where cold the staff where super amazing and the guy who taught us bearfoot bowling was the best. Nothing to difficult. We are definitely coming back
Best place for Asian cuisine in Burleigh. Great service, friendly atmosphere, very reasonable prices. If you really want to experience Burleigh, don’t just hang out in trendy places you could go to in any city, come here. Locals, tourists, all ages, disabled access, parking. Barefoot bowls, bands, trivia nights etc throughout the week so check the website. Kitchen closes by 8 pm but drinks, entertainment etc keep going. Enjoy 🥂
Great place to meet friends & family, cold beer, good good, and best bowling greens on the coast.
Fusion 88 - Ordered off the Asian menu the food was great and so was the staff.
Great place to be, the staff are all lovely and barefoot bowls under $10. We ordered around 6 entrees for roughly $60 and fed 7 people easily and tasted great! Food didn't take too long to come out either. All in all great day and would recommend
Phoned about playing bowls staff were very friendly
We went to Barefoot bowls it was amazing. Good Drinks and the atmosphere was great… Bruce and Sofie were amazing they made it a great day. The booking process was easy and we all loved it. Thanks Kiri Clarke
Abusive, in accommodating. Ruined my Father’s Day. Bruce the bowls guy was extremely embarrassing.
A lovely local to visit. Well priced flavoursome meals. Lovely people to share a laugh with. Oh and if you like your bowls then this is the place to be.
First time visiting bowling club today very average I had honey chicken drowned in fat old oil fried rice nice but won’t go back if I do will have Australian food disappointed
Great old fashioned Aussie bowls club!
The pork was very good for lunch, but I had the chicken burger which I wouldn't recommend at all. We were there on a Sunday and the staff at the front desk and behind the bar didn't want to be there, a bit of retraining might be recommended in hospitality practices.
Bruce was a legend, Also cheap beers!
The place was great. Everyone was so warm to us, especially staff member Bruce who put in an extra effort to make sure we had a good time. Would recommend to anyone.
this is the first time I write a bad review. I had the 30$ surf and turf rump: salad very fresh and chips perfectly cooked, nice sauce. Prawns were frozen (understandable) but the problem was the rump steak. it was horrible, no excuse.... super fatty, and nerves inside, I couldn't cut with the knife.... absolutely not acceptable. I could had only one single bite.... I walked away still hungry and went to Burley heads hotel, had rump again and It was alright.
The access was terrible for a disabled person and the parking was bad only I disabled parking we could see and security was parked there so not a great night out with friends
Food was pretty ordinary
Old fashioned service from the front reception. Karen was lovely and welcomed us to sign in. We had a beer on tap and it was nice and cold. First time ever visiting and we will be back.
Fast and efficient food service. Fantastic barramundi. Highly recommend this fish. Fish falls off the knife and melts in your mouth.
If you’re vegetarian - stick to hot chips.. I had the chilli basil stir fry: there was no veg option on the menu, so I asked for no meat. The veggies seemed parboiled, not a hint of stir fry flavour and the sauce could have been a western gravy with soy sauce. Zero basil. Zero fresh chilli. You still get charged for the meat regardless - $21.50 - and the was no meat substitute (cashews... tofu....?). Never again.
Great place for a meal at night
The food was great and good value for money. Lots of options and our whole group were pleased with their meals. Had a great time doing lawn bowls as well. Only downside was the music.. ... great music but so loud it was impossible to enjoy our meal, felt like we were at a concert at 6.30pm. Would have liked to have a conversation over dinner before the rock concert.
Very disappointed with meal..Chicken Snitzel very overcooked...and chips should be on side of plate not underneath meat..
staff are dumb as a post. food is good. took 20 minutes to order the were farting around. missing food. Wouldn’t Recommend
Excellent staff, food was great and amazing range. Well priced and great vibe
Service at the Bistro was great, the rest of the staff need lessons. Rude staff at the bar and girl at reception was horrid.
Awesome food. Very friendly staff
Staff and patrons extremely friendly and welcoming. Beautiful food. You can book and play barefoot bowls. Absolutely fantastic experience. Highly recommended 👌
Atlantic Salmon with Vegetables was spectacular. Very happy with the salt and pepper calamari and prawns as well. Decent priced food and drink with lots of seating for our large group. Air-conditioned comfort was great on a hot day. Fantastic lunch.
Amazing time we had Barefoot lawn bowls was brilliant Bar staff very nice and helpful. Karen and Bruce made our 2days there great Thank you both so much Nigel & Fiona from the UK
A relaxed and friendly place . Ideal for a cool drink or even a snack and a chat. Pokie machines available if you are feeling in the mood. Bowling greens are well maintained
Poor service. Never any staff at entry.
Club is nice but don't order the antipasto platter for barefoot bowls - $90 - small and terrible!
