The rooms were very clean and tidy along being above average in size and the beds were very comfortable and clean

Staff extremely helpful and efficient. Food was fantastic. Valet parking easy and no fuss. Rooms spacious and very well appointed. I had a room overlooking the dock, just wonderful. All in all a magical stay, I will be back.

Simply outstanding on all levels. The staff could not be friendlier. Some of the nicest people we've ever met. Evolve Bar for a relaxing drink and snack was a wise decision. Although our stay on this occasion was only 1 night, we were treated with such amazing generosity. The decor is on point, and our breakfast experience was sublime, to say the least. Best hotel by far we have stayed in Tasmania and we have been here many times over many years. Beautifully appointed, super clean, large rooms, very comfortable beds and fantastic harbour location. Very reasonable rates for quality of hotel (included in executive suite was breakfast daily, valet parking and extended check out). Staff accommodated our request for interconnected rooms as we are a family of 4 with two children. Children made to feel very welcome by friendly staff. Lots of little perks we didn't realise on booking such as free guest laundry facilities, multiple high quality bars and restaurants in hotel building, in room board game selection, great local selection of snacks and drinks from small local producers in mini bar. Breakfast daily was lovely and overall, the staff were kind, well informed and professional. Will make excuses to come to Hobart more regularly just to stay at MACq01 Hotel..we are already planning are next trip and are excited to book our stay at Sapphire Freycinet one of their sibling Hotels. Thanks MACq01 for a truely wonderful Tassie experience.

Great place to stay. What you expect from a top hotel. Reception was excellent and the room quality was great. Love the artwork throughout the hotel. The kids loved the fossils on display. Convenient restaurants on the ground floor offer excellent food. Will stay again.

The hotel staff was great, they were very accommodating for my little one and wife. The food was great at the restaurant and liked the early start to breakfast, the staff here were so friendly to my 9 month old which made me more comfortable. The the location and valet parking made the trip easier.

Beautiful rooms when gorgeous view overlooking the harbour. Very comfortable beds. The decor was just beautiful and a home away from home comfort feeling. The staff were exceptional, the best service weve had any any hotel we have ever stayed at and we have done a lot of travel. Highly recommend and we will be back! 5 🌟

Exceptional rooms, views and service. The staff were amazing! If you want great service booked this hotel. Nothing is too much trouble. The location is fantastic, walking distance to all the restaurants, markets, wharf etc. They rooms are a home away from home, clean, comfortable beds and beautiful well thought out decor. Such a unique hotel and one we highly recommend. Location was amazing could see all of harbour. Rooms were perfectly laid out. Bathroom was enormous. Breakfasts had so many choices to order and at the buffet - so many gluten free choices. Cocktail bar was unlimited with wonderful cocktails.

The hotel is nice (albeit expensive) but note that some superior waterfront rooms are quite a bit smaller than others. We are unlucky to have one of the smaller rooms which does not have a sofa - only 1 lounge chair, and not a terribly comfortable one at that. I called guest services to ask if we could get another lounge chair but, unfortunately, this does not seem possible.|Also, as others have noted, there are no chairs on the balconies.|I recommend avoiding rooms 118 and 119.

This is a hotel that is beautifully located in the city center and has excellent views of the harbor and bay. The evening view of the city lights is as breathtaking as the morning view. I enjoyed the views from the restaurant during dinner and breakfast as I had a room facing the street, but it did not spoil the experience. On the contrary, it created coziness and privacy. The room is very spacious, the bed is very comfortable, the space is cleverly organized, the color of the walls and the lighting are conducive to relaxation. A few cool design tricks in the decor smoothed out some of the impression of a business-oriented hotel. The hotel is full of people in a hurry, perhaps businesspeople, who were probably not here for relaxation. The external wooden paneling of the walls of the hotel is already faded and shabby, which is understandable - the climate in Hobart is difficult. Check-in and check-out are really instant!

This is a premium hotel with exceptional service and generous rooms. Well worth the treat. Although not near the hub of waterfront activity, the hotel has numerous dining options. The Continental breakfast (buffet) is great. there were plenty of healthy options.

Great room, walk in closet with bench for cases was perfect. Comfortable bed and couch. Very helpful and friendly staff. Lunch on the deck was delish.

Had a nice stay at MACq1 hotel. We took advantage of the free laundry machine. Breakfast was tasty with excellent service. The old wharf restaurant was a nice place for dinner. Evolve was closed for a party the night we were planning, but we had a chance to see it earlier with all the fossils. Don’t miss one of the story tours!

A bit like a museum, lots of exhibits around the building. Room is well sized and comfortable.

Amazing hotel, rooms very clean and lovely view.

My wife and i have been staying at this hotel for several years. it was one of our favourite destinations in the world. Great rooms, location and exceptional service. After a 4 year gap due to Covid we have just spent a weekend in a water view room. Hotel is still beautiful, location is still fantastic but this time the service was definitely off. The old can do attitude has largely gone. The staff were not cooperative in several situations including: 1) Requesting a one hour extension to our check out time which was flatly denied with out any review of check-ins or checkouts on a Sunday. 2) Requesting to sit at a table for a coffee and a cake in the restaurant at 3.30pm in the afternoon rather than some adjacent very low sofas was denied because they were set up for a dinner. i.e. 2 glasses, 2 bread plates and some cutlery would have to be removed! I have a bad back and these sofas/chairs were very uncomfortable. we left after 20 minutes. 3) My wife is gluten free. Gluten free options on the menus were very poor which in a 5 star hotel is not acceptable. 4) With the exception of Feliinis the menus at all the venues lacked imagination and variety. 5) We had a whisky at the Evolve Bar. We were served by someone who could not speak or understand English. When the whisky is $32 per glass it would nice to be able to communicate with the person taking the order. The attitude of some staff was questionable. They certainly were not passionate about customer service as in previous stays.

Had a booking with them and had to change dates but they were very inflexible and unaccommodating. I found them to unhelpful and rude in our communication so won’t be booking there again.

Can’t speak highly enough of the Macq - one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at this year and I’ve been to more than 30 hotels in 2024.

After two weeks in Tassie we wanted our last night in Hobart to be special and MACq 01 delivered. Marie on the front desk was wonderful and made the check in very easy. Our room was huge and so lux and comfortable with great views. Breakfast was excellent and delicious. Will definitely stay again.

Spent the night at this hotel. The rooms were very luxurious. The halls of the hotel were magnificent with design and culture. Walk outside to be on the doorstep of the harbor. All the food, drinks and fun within walking distance.

It’s an amazing experience staying in MACq, especially if you rent an electric car, their valet parking will help you to recharge your car when you finish your day, which makes you really hustle free time handle the parking and refilling gasoline. Also their restaurant is beautiful too, great food and wine with nice hospitality😊 Should be the second-to-none choice in Hobart!

My wife and I enjoyed four nights at this lovely hotel in an amazing suite. The staff were all very friendly and there is a great atmosphere throughout the hotel and it's restaurant / bar / lounge. The location is great (easy walking distance to restaurants, MONA ferry, Salamanca markets etc). We will be back.

This hotel nails everything. The room feels like a weighted blanket, restful, dark and moody but also comforting and soft, with lighting that is simple and beautiful. Stylish but still approachable. Staff are helpful, showers are glorious, amenities divine. I never stay anywhere else in Hobart ( apart from Henry James which is also great but not quite as good as MACQ01)

This place is next level gorgeous. From the wonderful staff, spacious room, best shower to the restaurant (great food) and bars (check out Evolve for its uniqueness & whiskey), we couldn't fault it. It's going to be my hotel of choice every time we come back to Hobart. We had a waterfront balcony room (the only thing it needed was chairs on the balcony so you can chill out with your drinks). If you love class and feeling spoilt, you've got to choose MaCQ01.

What a phenomenal experience! I had been wanting to stay at MACq01 for quite some time as I had walked past it during many visits to Hobart and was in awe of the gorgeous waterfront building. I had high expectations going in (from reviews I had read) and the hotel not only met, but exceeded every single one of these. The staff were warm, friendly, attentive and so welcoming from the second I walked in the door, adding personalised touches along the way during my stay. The room service was delicious - will be dreaming about the MACq01 burger for weeks to come. If you're looking for a special, unique, luxe stay - this is the place for you! I can not wait to return!

Honestly, this is the only hotel I love staying in whilst in Hobart, big rooms with a short walk to the salamanca markets, all rooms have a different story to them and are a very interesting reads, the staff are awesome to deal with..

5 stars all around. Service impeccable, our superior waterfront room was well appointed, modern with amazing views of the harbour. Location couldn’t get any better. Our only gripe was the breakfast was average, eggs not cooked properly, so we only ate there the first day and stepped out for breakfast for the reminder of our stay. Special thanks to Kim from guest services for help with organising some surprises for Charlene kn her birthday.

Macq 01 certainly offers a distinctive experience. The hotel's concept of basing each room on a Tasmanian story is intriguing, and the rooms themselves are spacious and well-appointed. The location overlooking Constitution Dock is undeniably stunning. However, the hotel's pricing felt a bit steep for the level of service provided. While the unique theme and spacious rooms are commendable, the overall experience didn't quite justify the cost. Despite this, the hotel's character and prime location make it a tempting option for those seeking a memorable stay in Hobart.

Wow wow wow. We have been welcomed by the loveliest team of staff. They have been so helpful and made us feel super special during our stay to mark our milestone wedding anniversary and birthdays this year. We sadly had only one night at this stunning property, would’ve loved to stay longer and would highly recommend it to anyone. So clean, modern, lovely amenities and close to the wharf, restaurants and market.

So many positive things to say about MACQ, maybe better to talk about the negatives.... Our only small gripe is the lightening in the rooms (A-typical of many Hotels) bit lacking and never easy to find switches. Does this stop us from returning, heck no, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Staff are amazing, as is the food, location and entire complex... love it.

One of the best hotels I ever been in Australia. The rooms are amazing, the hotel has charisma and even a nice historic background. They have a pillow menu, and also one of the best breakfast we had in hotels in Australia, as Australia is not well known to have good breakfast in hotels.

I cannot express enough gratitude to Lucy for her extraordinary kindness and impeccable service during our stay in Tasmania. What was already an incredible birthday surprise from my partner who surprised me with a trip to Tasmania. Lucy took it to the next level with her thoughtful gestures and incredible hospitality. Upon arrival, Lucy surprised us with a room upgrade to celebrate my birthday, setting the stage for an amazing start to our trip. Little did I know, the next morning would surpass all expectations. Eight of my closest family and friends appeared in our upgraded suite, and to my absolute astonishment, my partner proposed. The room Lucy had upgraded us to was not just any suite; it was a breathtakingly beautiful space that added an extra layer of magic to an already perfect moment. Throughout our stay, Lucy's attention to detail and genuine care for our experience were evident in every interaction. We just got home and I’m so sad that our stay is over, this was definitely the best hotel we’d ever stayed in! We were on our Babymoon with our wild 2 year old, and we booked the Executive Corner suite - room 125. Every single staff member bent over backwards to make us comfortable and the room was simply huge and luxurious! Valet parking - easy and never a long wait Room - you could call for the fire to be lit whenever you like and it made for such a cosy vibe. Bed was very soft, cot provided for our toddler. Bath was huge, we are both 6 feet plus and I could fit in with my toddler easily. The corner suite was enormous and perfect for Hunter. View from 125 was alright, but balcony sadly didn’t face the water but we didn’t mind, the luxury of the room made up for it! Good soundproofing too. Room Service - the breakfasts were INSANE! You could choose a dish each, plus 3 sides, a juice and a barista coffee as well as fruit, cheese, salami and pastry platter each! It was plenty for all three of us and we’d have leftover fruit and pastries to feed our toddler during day outings. I miss it so much! We did dinner room service a few times too and the quality of the food was excellent and it was really fast too! I would have loved a slightly more varied room service menu and more kid friendly options but overall superb! Lux Appelles products in bathroom too. Old Wharf Restaurant - we dined here one night and all of our dishes were incredible and staff so helpful with our toddler, giving him toys, pencils, and a kids menu! Customer Service - all of the staff were just so kind! Our 2 year old has huge emotions and the staff would go out of their way to calm him down and bring him a chocolate lollipop it was so sweet! I’d call up every day for an ice bucket and it came straight away, they gave us a high chair no problems, Porters and valet so friendly and fast: we also had an issue with the chromecasts not working in our room, this was an issue due to having a toddler who NEEDS 😂 wiggles and as soon as we told them they were straight into it, kept us updated, offered for us to move rooms, gave us complimentary drinks and ultimately comped one of our nights to make up for it as it sadly couldn’t be fixed, totally unnecessary as we just used our iPad for him but very appreciated, I have honestly never experienced customer service like that before. They also gave us a very generous Babymoon gift! So kind of them! They even once brought up a dummy we lost downstairs to our room. Just above and beyond in all regards! Housekeeping - our room was serviced daily and it was perfect! One day we even had a lovely note saying they had cleaned all our toddler dishes and put his toys away for us! Mind blown! I hope to stay again soon, a hotel I won’t forget any time soon! 🩷

I am a frequent resident of this hotel. I was extremely disappointed when I signed a bill in my name at Evolve bar and the room was registered under my wife. I have stayed here at least on a dozen occasions registered in my name . Preeti Kaur rings my room to confirm whether I had signed the bill accusing me of possible fraudulent behaviour. This is atrocious customer service in my opinion for a regular customer, and I have never experienced this any where in the world being a resident of some of the finest hotels….I would like a response from the general manager and find a solution to this potentially insulting incident so that it never happens again! Absolutely incredible. We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was outstanding. The staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to help us. We ate at the restaurant for delicious dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed a whisky flight and cocktails and the story bar and evolve spirit bar. The room had an incredible view, was large and very comfortable. The bathroom setup was luxurious and my wife absolutely loved the bath and all the bath treats. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Thank you thank you thank you. We hope to be back for the same again next year for our anniversary.

A tad bit bright corridors please. Beds were large and lovely. Soft linen, spacious room made the day. Requested - lactose free milk in the rooms would be an added bonus. Staff was lovely.

We have been lucky enough to have our 2nd and 3rd stay at MacQ1 mid-May. Even though we only planned a one-night stay, we extended a day as we really love the locality and the beautiful rooms of MacQ1. The front office staff – a huge thank you to Lucy and Kim for helping us; you went above and beyond and are genuinely warm and friendly people. Evolve bar and onsite restaurant are superb. As we have adopted Tasmania as our “place” you will see us again on our next visit!

A First Class Accommodation !!! Only stayed one night but could easily have stayed more - this place has everything you need. Very helpful check in staff - nothing was too much trouble. Enjoyed a lovely meal at the Old Wharf Restaurant - in very cosy surrounds. We were in a Waterfront Room on the 1st level and the outlook was fantastic over the wharf area. Location was great as it was walk to everything you needed.

Absolutely amazing stay. Fantastic hotel, super modern, super quirky and has amazing restaurants directly under it. Bonus that Hobart Brewing Co is a 2 minute walk. Special mention to Lucy at reception for her outstanding service and friendliness.

I’ve just recently stayed at this wonderful Hotel in a great location of Hobart. The room was spacious and very modern. Views from an open balcony are spectacular. Unfortunately the beds are too soft for our liking and we were unable to sleep well. The lighting in the bathroom was no good to put makeup on . There was also not much privacy in the bathroom or shower from the lounge area. The restaurant was very pleasant and food is fantastic. The service was good and we enjoyed our stay mostly. Very stylish comfortable fire and lounge area.

Last night in Tasmania, corner suite fantastic.. bars in hotel a story to themselves. But as foodie, Ollie an English gentleman head of house in the restaurant made the night. Next level service next level knowledge of food and a true manager never missing anything going past him .

Staying at MACq01 made our honeymoon even more special. The rooms were huge, including a bathtub and patio. The view of the harbour and Mt Wellington was spectacular. The staff and service wad great. Judy deserves a special mention, as she took it to the next level, recommending an excellent Cafe (Machine Laundry) for a very late brunch and making our dinner reservations at landscape. We will definitely be coming back and won't stay anywhere else in Hobart.

This place is a must for locals and those holidaying from the mainland or overseas!
