Extremely disappointing. Upon check in I was informed that I needed to sign a waver and also needed to provide a $400 bond for one nights stay with my family - no prior notice given despite having spoken on the phone twice for booking. The staff member insisted on charging the card despite having been told it was maxed out which incurred a fee on my end. The furnishings were tattered and flaking. The carpet was old looking, freyed and lifting on the edges along the staircase - quite an eyesore. Only one bathroom upstairs - the shower is over a bathtub and very slippery. There were lots of little signs posted on the walls with rules. We had to wait in the lobby whilst we had our room inspected prior to check out - never had to do that before! I felt uneasy for the entire stay and wouldn't recommend it.
A great place to stay - recommended. Perfect location, everything on site and comfortable rooms. Service is patchy but generally good. Air conditioning didn’t work, but they let us know in advance and gave us the option of free breakfast every day or canceling.
Nice place
Location within city centre.
Great location & walking distance to Salamanca markets, pubs & restaurants. Hotel staff were lovely. Rooms are disappointing. Family twin room “apartment” for 5 and only 1 bathroom. Bathroom had no exhaust fan (making it extremely hot and stuffy). Air conditioning wasn’t working - and wasn’t repaired for our entire 4 night stay.
Very clean, serviced daily, kitchen in room, 20m from Salamanca, markets, restaurants, excellent location for everything in Hobart, cheap parking onsite. Only negative is if doors open at night you can hear the bars and clubs till late but if you shut the doors you don't.
This truly excellent smallish family owned hotel never disappoints||A warm greeting on arrival, genuinely kind staff and very helpful ||Thank you soooo much for another wonderful/repeat stay.||I would never go anywhere else in Hobart ||A superlative review, yes, but this accommodation deserves that level of praise!
Conveniently located near Salamanca Place, a close walk to the Salamanca Market (Saturdays). Our 2 bedroom apartment was spacious with a well equipped kitchenette. The 1 bathroom was located upstairs. Free parking is available on site although parking spaces are a bit tight. Complimentary laundry facilities are provided including laundry powder.
I messed up my booking and booked wrong date on Expedia by accident. Upon arrival, the guest staff were so friendly and accomodating. Luckily they had a room available for us!! Lovely hotel, beautiful room. Very clean, comfortable beds, great location and amazing staff. Highly recommend!!!
We stayed in the Spa suite on a Monday night. It was spacious, comfortable and a great location! The spa was a great size for two! The only thing we didn't like were the blinds in the bedroom. The morning sun comes through the closed blinds and luminates the whole room, making it impossible to sleep in.
Food was exceptional. Location is right in the heart of Salamanca. The service was disgusting. My Mum booked an apartment months in advance. An accessible apartment an paid good coin for it. All they did was put a chair in the shower. A glass shower screen so impossible to manoeuvre her wheelchair. No hand rails anywhere. No apology. Piss poor.
Very good food and fantastic service in the restaurant. Rooms were immaculate.
Best service. And location in Hobart. It's a great place
It’s wonderful staying at Salamanca Inn, such a great location and the reception staff and housekeeping staff are so warm and friendly and quick to help with anything you require. I stayed in two rooms, the main hotel is immaculately furnished and second place across the road rooms are even more spacious and in our family room we have a great kitchen and a sunny balcony. Beds are super comfy in both. Only issue was air con was broken in main hotel but didn’t feel cold as was provided with heater. Ask for a bathtub before booking. Love the heated floor in bathrooms. And quiet too! I’ll be back for sure. 💛
Wow the rooms have been spruced up and are lovely. But the lift OMG that thing has been cranky for the last 20 years, still it makes the trip exciting.
Stayed here a few times for work recently and it's excellent every time. Rooms are spacious, clean & tidy. The service is always great and the location is phenomenal with so many great restaurants right on the door step. Beds are very comfortable, restaurant is good for breakfast - the lady in the dining room at breakfast has always been very friendly.
Stayed here a couple of times before, location is excellent close to the harbour and Salamanca Place (markets). Town is also just a comfortable walk away and there are some excellent cafes, bars and restaurants close by. Our apartment was again very comfortable and quite well appointed with the staff being friendly and helpful. Parking was provided onsite. We look forward to our next stay.
Turned up to my prepaid booking through thier site and the air conditioning was broken in my room. They couldn’t give me one of the rooms where the air conditioning was working so without any assistance from them had to find another hotel. The receptionist was incredibly rude - she knew I was ill and needed air con and did absolutely zero to sort out a solution, or to treat me with respect. Note the listed “windows that open” only open a crack. Avoid booking here - you could end up needing to scrounge for another hotel room yourself because of repair issues - with no assistance and not even a printed refund reciept. Went somewhere a bit further from the market location - a whole different experience - polite, kind and helpful and suite much better … sometimes location isn’t everything!
Never been treated so badly! ||I booked a month in advance directly with the hotel, and arrived early and was happy to hear my room was ready. No smile or niceness at check in, but no big deal. I was really looking forward to my stay after recovering from surgery and stay close to the the markets so I could go back and forth. The girl at the front desk (GG) just watched as I lugged in multiple bags then I got up to my room. ||The room was stifling hot and smelt like old cigarette smoke/dust. No problem - the windows were supposed to open - well they did open a teeny crack but not enough to get airflow. The airconditioning, as my second backup, gave an error when I went to turn it on. ||I went back to reception and she shrugged, no apology, and said yeah the airconditioner is broken they are fixing it - it might be fixed today but yeah they said that yesterday too. I explained I needed aircon as I was ill and recovering. She said - Go back to your room and wait 30mins. I went up and had to sit in the hall at that point as the room was so hot I was feeling ill and shaky. ||She came up after 15 mins and I showed her the room - she said oh yeah it is hot but she couldn’t smell anything. I aked for another room (as air con was working in others) and asked should I go somewhere else. She shrugged again and said yeah she’d have a look to see if any other rooms were available. After another 15 mins she came back and said yeah you’ll have to find somewhere else as the air con fixer couldn’t guarentee it would be ready and I could get a refund. I asked for help to find another hotel and she shrugged again and left. I had to call around multiple places (on my mobile out in the hall) with nearly everything full as it was Easter. In tears now, I called the 5th hotel and luckily they had something (at a higher last minute price). ||She then sauntered back up and I was now very upset and I told her I found something on my own. Still no apology, and she said oh you want help with the bags and carried the lightest one to the lift as she was going down anyway. She said she had found another place I could go to ( much lower stars and no cooking facilities) and she had tried to ring the room to tell me (she knew I was in the hall where the air con was working). I demanded a refund instead and she went ok and I asked for a receipt to prove it was refunded. She gave a huge sigh and said I’ll just take a photo of the refund screen and couldn’t print it. At that point I’d had enough and just left - without receipt. ||Sure things go wrong and air con can break, but why no apologies, treated with disdain and no support to find anything else? Just shrugging at ill and crying customer and no apology or kind offer to help? Inexcusable and appalling customer service. Luckily, I found something better where I was treated with warmth and kindness. Don’t stay here - you could get sick or something could go wrong and they couldn’t give the tiniest toss.
We had a suite with 2 bedrooms and one bath. The primary bedroom was on the second level. Although the unit had air conditioning, the cool air did not reach the upper level. There was a fan, but it did not cool the bedroom sufficiently and was noisy. Why hotels feel they need to use feather duvets on beds when it is hot out, I don't understand.|On the plus side, the location is great to get to the wharf and for driving to nearby wineries. The hotel had daily housekeeping. Breakfast was not included but good in the attached restaurant.
Not cheap but spacious suites.
This was quite a surprise. I expected it to be family centric accomodation, and it would admirably suit that purpose, however as a couple who preferred peaceful privacy, it really was a stand out. ||We stayed in the King Suite for 6 nights which is a long time in any one place but it was so spacious and comfortable, I couldn’t have asked for better. The bed is next level comfortable, as is the linen. Plenty of space to hang everything and put the cases away as well. There’s a shower over the bath in this suite. Not a bother for us really. Parking on site for a fair fee, superbly located, close to the market, town centre and ferry in the most picturesque part of Hobart. We didn’t try the restaurant this time. ||Shout out to all staff for their warm welcome and in particular, the housekeeping team who did a great job on the room every day. It was a restful break and we will be back when next in Hobart.
We were so glad we booked this place for our trip to Hobart. Location is the best as you walk out and you are in the best part of Hobart. We stayed here especially for the Saturday markets as its right next to it. However it is about 10-15 minutes walk into the CBD area where most retail stores are. We loved exploring Battery point and Salamanca. There is also the Salamanca fresh supermarket nearby for groceries. We had the 1 bedroom studio with kitchen and it was very comfortable. Free laundry was also handy. They also have onsite parking which i believe is free if you book direct and if not there is a fee to park. Staff were very helpful. We would recommend this hotel.
This hotel is ideally located for Salamanca, Battery Point and the wharf. We walked a lot of places, as it was so conveniently located.|We had a 3 bedroom loft apartment, which was spacious, and airy, although one of the downstairs bedrooms has no windows so felt a little box-like when the bedroom door was closed. |The only bathroom is upstairs in the loft with the master bedroom (which has no air-conditioning so can get very stuffy in warm weather), this could be an issue if you have small children. |I'm also a bit confused as you could theoretically have 6 people stay in the apartment, yet there is only one bathroom. Not sufficient.|The lifts are also a bit violent, closing very quickly on those moving less quickly and stopping at floors very jerkily. We ended up using the fire escape quite regularly, especially after one of the two lifts broke halfway through our stay and wasn't fixed by the time we left. ||
Was a great stay, rooms were great and so cemtral to central hobart
Toilet near lobby and meeting room don't have aircon can be pretty cold inside.
I enjoyed my 3 nights here. The bed was excellent as was the air conditioning. |The hot water was ridiculously sensitive and was very hard to adjust and hold the right temperature. |Also the power points were almost inaccessible which made recharging phones etc hard. The bedside clock had an ancient phone charger which went out of use some years ago.|The bar and restaurant were excellent and the meals were of a very high standard. |The staff were helpful and friendly
I’m so tired of Tasmanian Hotels where you pay premium $ and their internet is abysmal and their TV selection is 90% ABC or SBS when you pay for Foxtel and all you get is Sport , as with Salamanca Inn. False advertising! Ever heard of Sky News?? Its pathetic. They also say Netflix is available—BUT, get this, only if you sign up at a monthly rate—-even you have the same at home. ACCC— investigate this fraud after Qantas please
We stayed in the 3 bedroom suite with my parents and children and we all enjoyed it. We loved having the common area to eat together. Great memories!
Family run (two generations according to in-room folder) clean straightforward place. Nice dining room called Bird Song. Breakfasts delicious and waitstaff very obliging, even down to expediting my meal on limited timescale on day of departure. There’s also 24/7 reception which is great security in all senses. Thank you to all staff.
Amazing high end hotel right in salamanca square, small pool and hot tub Asswell as a paid buffet for breakfast.
Great stay lovely room
Good service, friendly, warm inviting atmosphere, rooms were quiet, you couldn't hear the people in the room next door.
Great rates, lovely rooms, perfect location. Our 1st choice when staying in Hobart.
Exceeding philosophy statement, Home away from home experience. we were warmly welcomed by the lady at the front desk had a warm and friendly smile. We enjoyed hospitality and comforts that I normally don't anticipate. Salamanca itself has a buzzing vibe most of the time and we felt part of that vibe well into the night. I would recommend to bring ear plugs if you need perfect quiet to sleep.Thank you for a memorable stop over. I will definitely be back next time I come home.
The place to stay in Hobart great customer service from the team also a delight to be here
Convenient location. Very helpful smiling staff.
Had a great lunch at their Birdsong Restaurant. Excellent seafood chowder. And friendly, helpful service too.
This beautiful Suites hotel is just the kind of place I was looking for. It’s just around the corner from the areas we all want to visit in Hobart, but not in the middle of the hustle & bustle. It’s very quiet, and has an often overlooked fabulous restaurant (Bird Song). I especially appreciated that their wonderful food was not overly salted. Also, I love it’s unique ambiance; it would be a great place for a romantic dinner!
We stayed here for 4 nights and was a good stay, close to everything, restaurants and pier, markets on Saturday morn is awesome and a hundred meters away as is restaurants and bars. Reception and restaurant was great, friendly staff and good chef.
A couple of blocks from Hobart city centre in beautiful Salamanca on the edge of Hobart's beautiful waterfront. Walking distance to fabulous shops, eatery's, galleries. Salamanca Inn has its own fabulous restaurant and bar area. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The room was beautiful, clean and well maintained. A fabulous place to stay. Would highly recommend.
Location is great because salamanca market is down the street (Saturday mornings only). It's also walking distance to Mures restaurant and that area. Service is fine. Rooms are older style. Bathroom was a shower in a bathtub style. Unfortunately the pressure wasn't great and the bathroom walls were not clean for us. There's a nice leather couch in the room and a dining table. The room comes with a fridge and dishwasher if you wanted to eat in. It's bigger than your average hotel room but I probably won't return. There are newer better options available in Hobart.
Perfect for families. Friendly and helpful staff. 5 stars !!! Thank you 😊
Location was a 10! Space, cleanliness and the staff were so helpful. Thanks to Rochelle at reception - so friendly and helpful. Great place to stay in Hobart.
Only there for one night but definitely would return. A+ for everything from reception, cleanliness of apartment, All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Thank you 😊
Great place to stay in hobart, central and a home away from home. Full size stove, dishwasher, lounge, dining table, and larger fridge. Secure undercover parking, a must if you are staying in Hobart, and especially if you like the Salamanca area.
Great hotel, great location. Would go again!
The Salamanca Inn was a great place to stay with my family of 4. They went above and beyond when I lost something important in the room we were staying in, managing to find and and then ship it back to me in Melbourne. Get hotel that is super close to the Salamanca market. Many thanks again ☺️
Gorgeous place to stay, we have enjoyed 4 amazing nights so far tonight is our last night in Tasmania. The staff at the hotel are lovely, the room is perfect for us, loft bedroom upstairs for our son, walking distance to everything. There's a pool and spa and we have loved using it as there have been some hot days. Restaurant and bar downstairs their cocktails are delicious. Checking in was a breeze Balcony has a partial view to Mount Wellington, parking downstairs makes it easy to come and go room service is fast and food delicious 😋 we would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay close to restaurants bars & the harbour, wonderful accommodation with everything you need and more.
Nice hotel near all attractions
Couldn't fault it. We stayed two nights as two families in two rooms and it was clean, comfortable, quiet and well equipped. Great location. Would definitely stat here again. The pool was great to get some energy out of the kids too. Didn't eat in so cannot comment on that
Its my “Home away from Home”, the staff are all so lovely and I was lucky enough to be upgraded to their new LOFT SUITE room. Thanks Guys 🙏💕
Really enjoyed the room with the comfortable bed clean room great friendly service from the staff ,
Easy walking to the market and local attractions
Comfy, clean, central
Great rooms, service, and location. Could have floor heating on for room check-in though. Freezing cold tiles took a day to heat up. Expensive hotel so you expect the best.
Comfortable well appointed room
Handy as to everything. We'll be back
The Salamanca inn was a very nice renovated hotel. It had a full kitchen and was in a perfect location right around the corner from the Salamanca markets. It had nice service and was a perfect place to stay if your Planning to stay in Hobart and want to be near the Salamanca markets.
Excellent hotel, in the heart of a fantastic location, the purer heart of Hobart. We stayed in the two-bedroom apartment located on the top level. Customer service was outstanding and very understanding after arriving earlier and requiring a safe spot for our bags. The room was terrific however, having an upstairs bathroom was a bit issue during the night. I will love to return.
Great location. Walk to most of the happening city locations. Rooms were pretty decent as well.
Great hotel with excellent service and literally in the heart of the action. Short walk to Salamanca market and waterfront.
Ideal location and a great hotel, very quiet of a night as its off any main roads. Nice big rooms and great service.
Lovely
