Really nice food and generous portions.

Hotel building is a bit old but the food and service made up for that. Partner and I both had steaks that were cooked how we liked it, plenty of gravy and the side salad actually had effort put into it.

Was craving a steak before leaving Tasmania after spending a week there. Found this place on Google so thought we’d give it a go. The rib eye steak which was on the specials menu, was really good and did not disappoint. The Caesar salad was also great tasting and a very good portion. The place looks a little dodgy from the outside, but the food really is good and the service was very good too. Bartender was very friendly and checked to see how our meal was half way through.

What a great surprise! Have driven past here and had no idea what was hiding behind the fascade: a really wonderful dining experience in a classic pub setting. Service, ambiance, food options and prices were all very good. I had a pork belly which was perfectly cooked and incredibly generous in size. Very happy to be recommended this place and look forward to coming back.

This place has fallen from grace, I was recommending it to friends and colleagues but i can no longer, will instead be letting them know to avoid. The steaks are not seasoned, they are charred and bitter, the mushroom gravy has no taste of mushroom, or gravy. The curry sauce is too concentrated and floury. At this point i would have given three stars, however after finishing our meal and letting our 9 month old nibble on bits and bobs we were approached twice by the wait staff within 5 minutes pushing us to leave and clearing our table. We were LITERALLY the only patrons in the resturant at 7pm 2 hours before close.

The food at the 12 Mile Steak House, York Hotel is always fantastic and today was no exception. We had the Prawn and Scallop stir fry, and the Flathead fillets with veg. Brilliant!

See my previous review as well on their website page has more details there. Manager was rude, very dismissive and impatient with people with disabilities in our experience. Food in our opinion is average, food overcooked, lacking flavour. I suppose also with such disgusting behavior of the manager (Mark) turned us off eating after negative interactions. Wait staff ~the lady was lovely at least that was something and she apologised for managers yuck attitude. Was very disappointing.

Don't let the outside of the building fool you. The food is worth the stop, the steak was yummy, and the garlic and cheese cob loaf was delicious.

Ample parking. Beautiful historic building, thoughtfully renovated. You walk inside onto gorgeous old original floorboards. Up a ramp ( wheelchair friendly), turn right, opens up into a softly lit, intimate dining space. A bank of ceiling to floor windows on side, allows a view of delightful courtyard. From the moment we arrived in dining room, service was exceptional, pre dinner drinks, seated, menu specials explained. Diverse menu ( vegetarian options), food came out from kitchen in quite short period of time...enough to relax, chat and be hungry lol. Food absolutely delightful, plentiful, beautifully cooked. Staff checked in to make sure, we were enjoying our meals and all was as it should be without being intrusive. Yes, we will be going back! I also think, would be a lovely lunch venue. Review allows 5 stars, I would assign 7! My one negative is, a non garlic, plain cob loaf/plain butter should be offered to the humans who do not like garlic...

It doesn't look like much outside - don't be fooled! The food and service were both stellar. We had the cheesy garlic cobb loaf, the chicken bosco and the brownie, all of which came out with minimal wait. The gentleman serving us was a champ, taking care of everyone and chatting to the families, and the younger man that served us was delightful and gave great recommendations! Couldn't fault a single thing and left with a food coma. Do yourself a favour and go!

This place should be worth to spread the words! Best steak at affordable price ever I had in Tassie! I got 500gr Rib Eye, charcoal flavourful on the dish with Mushroom gravy sauce (yes! mushroom actually a lot in the gravy). Good portion with $56. Chips and salad are included and it is way soooo nice. Crunchy and hot, salad with cucumber tomato onion and cheese and other veggo like rockets spinach. I love it! Entree with calamari is worth as it is like fresh and not much much crumble/batter. The seafood basket is fish, squid, scallop and prawn fried in beer batter, good portion at $33. Table is clean and staffs are friendly and approachable. There are many kid chair as well. Another plus point is their clean toilet and they have a separate toilet for parents with toddler. Definately come back!!

The best steaks around. Cooked perfectly, staff very obliging, and even though they were busy we didn't have to wait very long for our meals to arrive. I would book your table as they are usually very busy.
