At check-in, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a deluxe room and were very happy with it. The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The bed was super comfortable! There was even a bathtub. We were taking the Spirit of Tasmania, and so the location was very handy. Even so, it is an easy trip to the centre of town. There is a pub next door with food (a bit pricey!), which is handy if needed. It is opposite the river, and there is a walking path if you fancy a stroll. There is also parking for larger vehicles next door.

Good option for an overnight stay to catch the Spirit as its very close to the jetty. EV charging stations closeby. Food was very expensive, its preferable to eat at other places near the CBD.

The staff were friendly and really helpful. Check in smooth and we got there late. Room was nice, clean and had everything you need. Great sleep , warm and quiet. Carpark was a bit cramped but was ok. Staff were very helpful about things to see in Tasmania. Would stay again.

Coming from Hobart, if you are staying overnight for spirit of Tasmania than Argosy Motor Inn is an ideal place. Just 5 mins from the terminal and prices starting from $146 a night this is a good place to stay brekki is available. The issue that I faced was the internet on the TV was not working. Therefore Google chrome wouldn’t connect. There is laundry room that is there in case someone wants to do Their laundry. Tea/coffee available in the room. There was iron and stand there was well.

Amazing, clean fresh comfortable! Room upgrade was a very nice bonus! Large modern rooms newly refurbished. Large bath, amazing shower! Perfect. Family of 4 highly recommended!

Basic accomodation but good for a quick stay

The food is okay but nothing in salad bar is labelled. So, sometimes the noodles are a spicy, other times not? Almost burnt my mouth, but no idea on specific flavours of things. Asked a young girl if the potato salad was a honey mustard flavour as it was quite yellow but she had no idea. Ended up being curry so couldn't eat it as it was SO strong. Also the salad with the apples had walnuts (?) this time, never has before when I've had it. Should probably label items to say they include nuts especially if this ingredients change all the time and someone may be used to eating one thing and then get something different. Food is usually okay but wouldn't say it's excellent

Small room, but clean and tidy so perfect for an overnight stay. Nice bathroom, just takes a while to get the water hot.

Rooms were comfortable and well priced but the highlight was the staff. They could not have done any more to help us enjoy our trip. When i enquired about the location of a laundromat as we were leaving they invited us to stay on and use their laundry facilities even though our check out time had expired

A convenient motel situated close to the Port. Hotel serves meals & breakfast and also has a bottle shop.

As an ex Tasmanian back on holidays I have been eating out at various restaurants.The Argosy was by far the biggest disappointment. I bought bangers and mash yesterday at $19.99. I expected 2 sausages on mash with gravy. Vegetables were also part of the meal. There would not have been even one sausage on this plate. There were maybe,if lucky,seven shaved off slithers of sausage. It seriously was a search for a slither of sausage.it ended up a sloppy mess as I moved the fork looking for a slither if sausage.after complaining they offered excuses and a refund but I settled for a plate to get salad and a bowl of chips.utterly disappointed Have since asked family and friends what they would expect if ordering bangers and mash and all said two sausages on mash. Not slithers of sausage. Will add photos. The three things on the side of the plate in photos were slithers as I searched for more parts of it. And it was excess gravy as it just looks like a sloppy mess.

No non meat non dairy options, it's all dog food made by a chef that can't cook.||I thought I might play my cards and ask for a vegan version of nachos instead of the usual wedges...||After five minutes I was told it wouldn't work, it might not cook and the Nachos need the cheese to ooze through like PVA wood glue, it wouldn't work I was told.||I've been vegan for five years and yeah I have made non dairy nachos but apparently that doesn't apply to the argosy.||The impoverished salad bar onlygoes so far for vegans.||Conclusion?||Beer costs way to much but it's the only enjoyable aspect unless you Win big on the pokies

Very welcoming and comfortable older motel but with all amenities, great adjoining hotel for a fabulous meal( I had delicious roast pork) and an adjoining breakfast room where I had a reasonably priced continental breakfast. Staff friendly and efficient.

Rooms were okay. Ordered pizza🍕. Oh, and they have a smart TV 📺.

Great place to spend the night after getting off the Spirit of Tasmania. Bistro kitchen meant to close at 8pm but they were obliging and let us order at a few minutes past. Clean and comfortable room , nice friendly staff too. Will stay again on the return journey.

We had vehicle problems that put us out of action, as a consequence we couldn’t get to the motel. Rebecca on reception was so helpful in arranging the cancellation- she needs a pay rise.

The quality of service, food, and comfort is fantastic. I absolutely enjoyed my stay. Meals were amazing. Rooms were clean. Staff are friendly and professional.

Had a meal can honestly say the meals have declined in quality. I've lived in the area for 38 years and eaten at the Argosy alot but in the last six months or so the meals are poor. Today's was cheap quality ingredients and over cooked. Had curried scallops another time that had that much curry it was inedible and the curry powder wasn't cooked off properly if you know curry you know .left it . Time they found some good chefs. And I'm not sure but the bloke that came out of the kitchen had hair past his shoulders not tied up. Counter staff are always great friendly polite and chatty.

Good clean hotel with big rooms, speedy wifi, good amenities and a big tv screen. Washroom was clean and huge with a full size tub. We booked it due to its proximity to the spirit of Tasmania's terminal. Even though its 3 stars, it has a feel of 4 stars hotel. Due to early departure, we couldnt check the breakfast, which i think would be amazing too. Only issue I found was the parking spot. Due to new year eve, hotel was fully booked and spot near our room was taken. Definitely recommended !!

Loved staying here during Christmas. The staff is so sweet and considerate. The hotel is right by the highway and there were parking spots right in front of the rooms. Very convenient.

I had a good time staying here, the room was good and like a home away from home. I was able to setup my laptop and watch streaming on there. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good. Good place to stay the night. Recommend it.

Not stayed at the Argosy for a couple of years, had an excellent stay last time staying in one of their standard ground floor queen rooms.|This time opted for a king suite which was in a separate block from the ground level rooms. The room was on the ground floor with first floor rooms above, I assume this is the case with all king suites eg a ground or first floor option, perhaps best to book over the phone if matters exactly what room you have.|Large spacious and modernised room everything neat and well presented and with a multicompartment waste bin so you can separate your recyclables and non recyclables.|Heard a bit of noise from the room above but nothing I haven't experience before...sound of water running/shower etc.|The motel clearly states that there are no room specific allocated parking spaces on site, but there is plenty of parking including large open area at the bistro end of the motel. I would say the parking area near the king suite area we were on was probably a little tighter than the rest of the motel spaces. All off street though and very convenient.|Handy for access to Bass Highway, no major noise though even from the highway and very easy to find if you have just arrived off the Spirit of Tasmania. If you are checking in at the motel NOT having arrived off the boat I'd suggest you check in from advertised check in time through to 5pm-ish if you can. If a boat has just arrived in the evening there can be a lot of people checking in at once, gets a bit busy.||Staff helpful and friendly I would happily stay at The Argosy again and would recommend. On site food service very good too, see separate review of bistro for dinner.

The room was spotless, great bathroom and comfortable bed. The bistro served great basic food that had not been smacked with the Masterchef stick. For anyone using the Spirit of Tasmania, this is a great motel to stop at as it is very close to the ferry terminal. I highly recommend this motel.

Breakfast at the Argosy is yum. The rooms are comfortable, clean with a separate toilet and walk-in shower. The staff go the extra mile to make visitors welcome which is refreshing. It is close to the Spirit of Tasmania terminal which is a real plus. Their bistro has a wide menu, so book! Thank you all at the Argosy for making our stay so enjoyable. Sandra Wall

Yesterday my friend left his bike bag behind at the hotel. We had boarded the Ferry and it was leaving early. The hotel staff found the bag and personally delivered it to the ship, before we departed. Thankyou for you kind efforts

Bed was as hard as a rock, glad we only stayed for 1 night. Very old and outdated. Picked this location due to location near Spirit of Tasmania arrival.Had dinner in the restaurant upon arrival. The food was ok

I love everything, apart from being served in front bar by Wendy, she is so unprofessional, rude and and grumpy. Everything is perfect apart from her service.

Brilliantly located for staying and catching the Spirit of Tassie day crossing ferry (leaving early morning) but we actually spent 3 nights here and enjoyed the stay as well as the convenience on crossing day. Room was a good size with big bathroom. Great TV and Wifi and also Laundry facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant had great food. Highly recommend this place.

Had the pleasure of staying here after our SOT trip from Geelong. The staff were available even though we arrived to the hotel around 7pm and the Bistro next door was also available for a quick tasty meal. The room was extremely comfortable, recently renovated with one of the best showers I have experienced in a hotel room. Huge TV and bed made the overnight experience even more comfortable. Definitely recommend the Argosy Motor Inn for your stay in Devonport.

The reason I'm giving such a low score is because when I was placing my order, the server, who I think was the shift manager, questioned me when I asked for something written on the specials board. Acting like I was an idiot when she hadn't bothered to read what was in front of her. She then placed the order incorrectly, so my hubs got a dish he didn't ask for. When she asked why he didn't he eat the food, he told her it wasn't what he ordered. She tried to tell us we were wrong. We then googled a photo to show her beef stew isn't ossobucco. She got the chef involved, who told her she was wrong, and she then had to eat humble pie. I believe she could have dealt with the situation better. (Knowing the menu would be a start). She also rudely discussed sending a staff member home early in front of a customer (the lady bar staff was the managers elder and should have been shown more respect). Young lady if you're reading this, you'll be older one day and wouldn't like to be sent home early just cause of your age. Respect is earnt not given.

A short trip from where the Spirit of Tasmania docks and the service for my late arrival was excellent. The room was clean and spacious.

This is a perfect place to stay once you get off the ferry. The management obviously deal with late arrivals and communicated with me via SMS to inform me of what to do. The venue adjoining the motel is a small pub. The kitchen closes at 8 pm, so we got there just in time. A good selection of options to choose from and a salad bar to those who take that option. A great view of park and river across the road. The room is well furnished and the bathroom facilities are also well maintained and have modern appointments. You can order a breakfast to your room if that's your choice. We slept well and thoroughly satisfied.

What a delight to arrive here at 11pm after a turbulent crossing on the Spirit. The King suites are worth the relatively hefty price tag....rooms are beautifully renovated, large and welcoming. Bed and linen comfy and fresh. We could not fault a thing and the only improvement Management could make, is a better brand of loo paper....now THAT tells you how good this place is. Do yourself a favour....especially if using the Spirit terminal 2 kms way.

Our first night in Tasmania...an older property that has had a good, basic renovation of their rooms - easy to find, close to town, clean, good tea/coffee making facilities, parking at the door, comfortable bed for the night and a busy bistro right on your doorstep! Everything you need for a one night stay.

Close to ferry terminal, clean room, good bed, and plenty of hot water. Had dinner in restaurant, food was very good, service great. We'll be back.

Thought it might be basic but turned out excellent. Particularly as I got lucky with upgrade. A few minutes to Spirit of Tasmania for return home. A wonderful trip round West Coast.
