Ella and James have to be the most lovely humans we’ve ever come across. We couldn’t have been more satisfied with the service we received from them for our event. We hired out half of the bar for our casual wedding party. We both agree it’s the best decision we’ve made. All of our guests were blown away with the hidden gem. I can’t wait to return. The drinks were incredible. The staff were just amazing. Highly highly recommend! Will absolutely be returning. (We brought our own catering for the event and this was a very easy process)

Ella and James have done an incredible job creating Bar Nearby. The decor is fabulous, especially the beautiful timber bar itself. The hosts and staff are really friendly and welcoming with helpful food and drink suggestions as well. You can sit at the bar or grab a table inside or outside so they have all moods covered. A really enjoyable place to meet up with friends over a drink or two with some simple snacks as well. Highly recommended.

Really cool place in box hill to go for a drink. Really cool that they encourage you to byo food too although they do snacks as well. Had a fantastic milk punch and yeah I think this will be a regular place to visit from now on.

What can I say, my new favourite obsession is just a stone’s throw from home (it actually is, I think I chipped the window when I tested my theory) owned by the wonderful James and Ella, this amazing team will make you feel like you’re have drinks at their home. The service and atmosphere are second to none and it is so refreshing to be able to sit at their bar and have a conversation, something I have missed for many years. If you live in the Box Hill, Blackburn, Doncaster, Ringwood, oh hell forget it, if you live in this great country of Australia, get on down, the place where everyone knows your name, cheers

Hands down my new favourite bar! Ella and James have done such a beautiful job bringing this bar to life. The cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. I went on a Sunday and the place was packed. The bar is in a great spot with plenty of parking around. You can sit inside or outside and order some delicious food to have delivered to and eat at the bar too. Well done guys - I can’t wait to come back!!!

I dont normally leave reviews for places, but Bar Nearby was such an enjoyable experience that I had to leave a review attesting to that. I came here with my mother for some drinks and we were blown away by the service and the drinks. We had some amazingly tasty drinks served by incredibly energetic and friendly staff. I cannot reccomend this place highly enough, this is now my go to bar for taking people out, the only sad part is they're not open on Sundays!

Amazing venue, the most hospitable, friendly and welcoming staff. This is a fabulous asset to Melboune and how very lucky are we that it is local to us! Cannot speak highly enough of the place. We ordered our own vietnamese to eat in with our gorgeous cocktails. The whole experience, right down to the ice cubes, is wonderful :)

A cocktail bar thats so good I don't want people to know it exists. The staff here are super friendly and make excellent cocktails. A great selection of wines too. A very warm and charming little space perfect for a date night or a catch up with friends. They offer a small selection of nibbles but they allow outside food so you can get food delivered to the bar! Amazing.

Wow, for those looking for classic cocktail methods and drinks, this is the real place. James, without a doubt, has extensive knowledge about classic cocktails, their methods, and all that jazz. Honestly, it's worth it.

I've been working in and around Melbourne and Victoria. Staying in Box Hill. I'm so glad I found this local. Great beers. Easy parking..if you have a driver..and James and Ella such great hosts. I leave soon and will miss this place. Good luck with your venture James. I can recommend this venue. You can also call in a take away whilst enjoying the beer (and wine..I can recommend the Tempranillo). Pete.

Amazing to have such a vibey spot in box hill FINALLY. Ella and James are so warm and welcoming. Although they don't have much food, with it being so close to box hill there are so many good food options close by. They do have cheese and charcuterie meats available though. The cocktail list is great. They also have a great range of spirits, wines and beers. So happy to have this as my new local ❤️🥂🍸

It's phenomenal to finally have a locally-based bar in Box Hill. It's even better that it's actually a really cool place to have a drink and catch up with friends. The proprietors of this fine establishment - James & Ella - really have something special going on here and know how to ensure you have a great time when you walk through their doors. Good selection of quality wines and spirits (and therefore cocktails) available. I've given a 3 for food as only snacks are available to purchase, however BYO / food deliveries are allowed, but unfortunately nothing open within walking distance at night. Drinks are on the pricier side of things, which is definitely offset by the fact that if you're a local, you're not spending an arm and a leg on a rideshare just to get to a decent watering hole. Some good promotion nights as well, like the Wine Wednesdays. 100% worth checking out if you're nearby - the name is certainly appropriate.

Just what is needed in this area! Parking is easy and you know you’re at the right spot when you see people outside, enjoying a drink! Beautifully well lit bar with super friendly owners! Snacks provided but you can BYO your own nibbles which we did, without a problem! Happy (and a half) hour from 4pm to 530pm is perfect for an after work drink or two! We’ll be back! 😁
