The meal still makes me fill sick when I see the photo of what is pretending to be Roast Lamb Boiled and raw fat and gristle more like
Great views from the windows and the seating on the deck view is stunning. The restaurant has a A' LaCarte menu and ice-cream buffet. The food is very good quality and good value for money. The staff are helpful and friendly. I would recommend a revamp with new tables and chairs, and the wood panels make the venue look dated. A refurbishment would make a difference to the interior of the venue .
A great little cafe to support the Hotel – excellent selection of breakfast menu and a great for kids with an excellent view.
The food is ok.
Over priced for what it is I think there is a lot of room for improvement if that's what your charging for a meal. Also kids meals should not come out as hot as the one we received.
Great selection of food, lovely atmosphere located right alongside the waterfront. Wish we had something like this at the country club. Can be very busy so you may have to join a waitlist or book ahead. Cafe section is okay but the coffee is poor quality and quite frankly expensive.
Yummy food that come in generous portions, very friendly service and nice atmosphere in the Bistro itself.
Good things first… we enjoyed the beautiful view from our table along either side fast service and good food. Enjoyed the garden salad, wedges, vegetarian pizza along with nachos. The chef specially made chilli oil for us. One extra star for him. What could have been better- the lady who was serving us in the beginning can be a little more polite. We had booked in advance and were expecting a nice table with comfortable sitting. Whatever the logistics, warm and polite customer service goes a long way…. The view was beautiful and chef did a great job so overall a good experience!
Food used to be better than this, ordered rare steak and wait for a long time to receive it, when it comes it’s over cooked, like medium. Ask staff to talked to the chef and they said if you like it to be less cook than this then order blue because rare here look like this. I went to speak to the chef again Chris is his name. He said he cooked steak more than 2000 steak and it’s rare. He also mentioned if you are not happy talk to front of house manager. Supervisor on shift, did put the order for me again straightaway and put it as blue, and manager also offer apologies on this. This is such a shame that chef is not even care or take any responsibility on this and the issues must be done by front of house team. Where is customer service mind chef?
Lamb souvlaki..a slab of lamb on stale bread
Food always served hot and very quick service. Bistro very clean staff extremely friendly and polite.
As a part of a group dining I ordered a double cheese burger and can assure all that it was the worst ever eaten. Dry chewy cheese over dry cardboard like patties that I suspect are precooked and then microwaved.Came with very dry chips and mass produced uninspiring catering style coleslaw. Others in the group eaqually unimpressed with both quality and price. A once only experience 😬
Great carvery. The roast meat slices were huge.
I just had the best roast of my life. If I'm moving to Tasmania, it would be for this.
Staff very friendly. Ordering was easy (using the QR app). Food fast getting to us, drinks not so speedy. Atmosphere pleasant. Chips nice, but possibly the 2nd worst souvlaki I have ever had. (I am saving the worst souvlaki award for a future dining experience) The meat was tasteless and dry - looked like day old reheated slabs of roasted lamb (I might be wrong). Marinated lamb cubes quickly grilled would be far better. I dont normally bother writing reviews but I was disappointed. There was very little ‘Greek’ about this dish.
We have dined here a number of times, mostly for MILs birthdays. The service is always good and the atmosphere is quite casual and has wonderful views out to the Derwent River. I always enjoy the roast and you certainly can’t complain about the serving size. My regular size roast was too much for me to get through this time around. My wife, however was very disappointed in her meal: she ordered lamb souvlaki which was basically just roast lamb sliced and placed in pita bread with an unpalatable yoghurt sauce. Our daughter enjoyed her vegetarian dish (nachos) with a salad, and others in our party were happy with their choices. The wine and beer selection is reasonably extensive although drinks service does compete with food service abcs can sometimes be slow. Note that all food and drinks are ordered at the bar.
It was OK Had a beef burger. I'm not sure what they put in the pattie, but it was far too spicy and salty. Sort of overpowered the beef something chronic. Should have really stated on the menu if it would be like this as I did not know. I wanted pure beef flavour only. Chips were good, though. Service was good. Great atmosphere and location. Apart from the food it was good
Good food, quick service and friendly staff.
2nd time in 2 days. Love the kiosk style cafe. Had the stay veg and crispy rice nodle wrap, it's delicious 😋
Seriously the worst meal I’ve ever had. The vegetarian pizza was rock hard and just covered in pure tomato paste not even flavoured pizza sauce. $30 and a massive waste of money.
We visited this restaurant twice during our stay at a nearby hotel, mainly due to the convenience. For dinner, while the pricing was on the higher side (as expected for hotel dining), the food was genuinely delicious, and the overall experience was pleasant. Our second visit was for breakfast, which we initially found to be great value for money. However, later that afternoon, both my partner and I started feeling unwell, and we couldn't shake the unpleasant aftertaste of the sausages we'd eaten that morning. Unfortunately, this left us with a less-than-ideal experience. Dinner was enjoyable, but our breakfast experience left us reconsidering our return.
Don’t order the lamb souvlaki was terrible, dried out lamb , tiny bit of salad, very minimal dressings and only a half size of a normal one . :( disappointed
Nice place to catch up with family. Food wise, the veg nachos had no discernible bean mix / substance, just corn chips, guacamole, sour cream and a bit of melted cheese. There was some smatterings of tomato-onion sauce. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I feel a bit ripped off.
Visited back in January 2024. I had one dinner and one buffet breakfast here. Both were great experiences. Expect to pay a little more for the convenience of being a hop-and-a-skip away from your hotel room at Wrest Point. Spoilers: the buffet breakfast has a gigantic Nutella jar for dispensing a concerning amount of Nutella onto your morning toast. Wonderful spot, thanks to the talented cooking staff and courteous wait staff.
Lovely
Great for a lunch, good prices.Clean and warm.
Just ask for the vegan menu for cruelty free choices.
Cafe & Bistro have different menu options. We had a lunch at the cafe of sausage roll, chips, coffee & cheesecake. One of the best chips in Hobart. The ambience is very nice with great water views. Very popular place.
I love hot food here, and the quality of dishes is greater than i expected. It is a good place to have a chat with friends too.
Our 4th time here always for family birthdays! 1stt meal I had a couple of years ago was beautiful, unfortunately everything I go back it's gotten terrible and prices gone up every time aswell . Mind you they had a new dessert bar, and definitely worth the price and very yummy. Atmosphere unfortunately way to noisy for me! But hey that's me. Service no smiles they just seemed over worked, except one lady which was infectious lovely lady.
Lovely lunch,lovely view.
Had nice lunch
If you want to enjoy views and food together this place can be one of the best
The bistro offers express counter for drinks and keno. Waited 10 minutes and had to line up in the food service area to get a drink. 20 minutes later. We were spending the night at the casino for our anniversary. Will consider other accommodation next time. Food was 2 star. If you like retirement home food. Potatoes were rubber. Lamb was dry.
Stayed at wrestpoint and this was the in house option for breakfast. The buffet was great. I would recommend pre-paying to get the discounted price. I had lunch here once and the lamb roast was absolutely value for money! Had dinner with a group. Big portions and good value for money.
Wow! The place is going! Love the grab your seat experiance instead of standing there waiting for someone to show you where to go. Food is pricey but even with a full restaurant we got all 4 meals within 15 minutes. Cavery is fantastic value and lamb is amazing. Buffet dessert is a lovely treat as well. Best of all, I love Onion rings but have never found a place that does a decent one or even worst you pay huge amounts to only get 3 or 5 rings. The boardwalk is the first place in my life I've gotten some where the price wasn't absurd and it was a big basket with a side of ranch! Thanks so much for the service. Chefs are very nice as well. Edit: appreciate the response from owner! Been back twice since got to add some photos of the rings and chicken parmi, best chips!
Reasonable place to get a meal
Vastly expensive for what you get. 5 squid rings for $20. A Caesar salad with just cos lettuce, one egg split in two, a few croutons and a bit of mayonnaise for $23. Flatbread with cheese $15. The ONLY good thing about this place is the location on the waterfront.
This place has a nice sea view. Tried their special which was sweet sour pork. It was okay, not mind blowing but I like that there are a bit of veggies in it. Portion is quite big. While food isnt amazing, it’s a good place to sit and chat with friends. Although it was noisy too.
Very nice service with friendly staff Great Coffee
Being from NSW, I was excited about having a belated birthday lunch at Wrest Point Casino last week.Upon arrival, I told the receptionist that this was my first time at the venue and was looking forward to a memorable experience. She then led both myself and my 87 year old mother on a very long walk, and eventually we ended up at the Boardwalk Bistro. The experience was completely underwhelming, the food was barely edible and to top things off, I was dismayed to discover we weren’t even in the building. For those from Sydney, it was like going to a run down RSL or league’s club Terrible and certainly not top notch dining which (I thought) would be synonymous with such an iconic location.
Good choice of standard Bistro meals at fairly decent prices (albeit not all the cheapest I've seen e.g the Steak) but carvery is excellent value. Line up for entry starts pretty close to 5:30pm opening time so assume it gets busy later. Great views and an easy going casual atmosphere. Food delivery (and it was a decent well prepped but nothing fancy meal) is the fastest I've seen - went to get a beer, meal was on the table in less than 10 minutes from ordering and getting a drink. Excellent casual dining in bistro.
Food was good. However, dinner menu had lesser gluten free options.
A nice place to eat with a diverse menu. The only thing I didn't like was having to get up and get my own cutlery and napkin.
Friendly customer service and tasty food.
Our evening meal was delicious. The buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing. Nowhere near as good as Launceston Country Club serves.
Rang to book a table. Was on hold for what felt like a decade. Pulled the pin at the 14 minute mark. Thanks for nothing. Oh... and that line about valuing your customer service... you might want to lose that.
Not advised to eat here. Steak was perfect, but the mush of oversteamed or boiled vegetables were disgusting. Not worth $50.... If you have allergies of any kind, don't come to this mass producing kitchen!!!
The biggest chance of the Chefs cutting themselves in this kitchen would be from paper cuts, opening all the frozen and processed food packaging. This stuff was below average pub grub at best, expensive processed food is what I was given for dinner, really disappointed.
Great food, good service and if you're a gaming card member, you get a few dollars of each meal.
Very nice venue and staff were very friendly and food came out super fast. Food was very average and small portions for such a high price.
Went here for lunch before we finish up our holiday. We were lucky enough to get a seat near the window so had an amazing view across the harbour watching the yachts bopping up and down on the water. Menu was extensive with something for everyone. Kids meals were available too. The meals were tasty, well presented and not too expensive. Would definitely recommend the roast lunch - the lamb was so tender, and the vegetables cooked nicely. Service was responsive and friendly. The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating available.
Surely the casino should be showcasing Tasmanian produce. Why are breakfast butter, honey and jams all imported from France when Tasmania is well known for its quality food? Very disappointing.
I ordered the roast and pizza, both the roast meat and the potatoes were dry and the pizza disgusting, it had way to much sauce base, it was just oozing out of it and 😂 the sauce base wasn’t even a nice flavour, sickly sweet.
Nice food and nice view but toxic staff
Food was good but a bit expensive for a bistro.. couldn't order from the app either..
We went two times for dinner and were very satisfied with everything. The food is good, the staff is very helpful and the chef & his team are the best. They are able to cater for the costumer’s dietary requirements and go that extra mile to ensure we fell safe when eating. We felt very welcomed and we will definitely return. Thanks
Well cooked dinner like a home meal.
It's a bistro in a casino, the view is the carry. I came here during my stay at the lodgings in the casino for a conference. I came here for lunch a couple times and for dinner a few times. The customer service was nothing remarkable. The food was alright, stuff you expect from a bistro in a casino. The main exception in the food at least was that the chips were cooked to perfection when it was served with the succulent burgers that accompanied them, the coleslaw was like sludge, nothing to post on social media about. I did like the beef burger had a nice thick beef patty, I would certainly expect that given that it was $26, which is definitely more expensive than say Grill'd, but I am unsure whether Tassie folk have had Grill'd before. Probably wouldn't come back to this place, but since they are the outlier in the casino for late night food offerings, I guess I will have to come back for maybe a couple more times, as there's not really any other restaurants in the vicinity of the lodgings. If you have read this far, and you want something that will satisfy your sweet tooth, their vanilla slice isn't bad, it's actually quite nice, reminds me of the vanilla slice in country rural towns of Victoria, not that different from the rest of Hobart to be honest. 🤷🏻♂️
CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS FOR DOUBLE CHARGES! Cassandra admitted their payment partner has issues to her colleague. We raised the issue of a double charge with a screen shot which she said we need to dispute with a 3rd party of theirs. I’m concerned that she does not understand the Australian Consumer and Fair Trade Laws. You have double charge me for $67 and refuse to assist me with resolving this Cassandra which is limiting my rights as the consumer. I will be making a formal complaint to the ACCC. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE THAT DINES HERE CHECKS THEIR BANK STATEMENTS FOR DOUBLE CHARGES!
All pretty average.
Fast service. Pleasant surroundings. Plenty of car parking available.
Food is not too bad a bit on the $$$ for what I had. Not a great choice for vegetarians
Over priced average food. Have had better cheaper at most local pubs.
Can't fault this place big meals well cooked and prices very reasonable. If I tried to say what to improve it would be the lining up to get drinks and food it makes it cramped for people moving around apart from that I could not make any other complaints. Thanks for an enjoyable experience.
Had a lovely tea there
