Fabulous food but felt sorry for the staff as only 2 on and approx 80-90 there for Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and speedy.

Staff weren't friendly. Drinks were very expensive. Was charged $10 to bring a birthday cake in. Absolutely terrible. A table of 10. Each ordering a meal. Buying expensive drinks. Still expected to play for a cake to be served.

Booked the beer garden for a birthday - was told I would have use of the pool table (coin operated) and table tennis. Expecting 30 or so guests, some eating, some not. Basically just for beers in the garden. I booked a 3 hour session. We arrive at 12pm and are told that we have 2 hours as they have a 21st at 2pm… this includes time to allow guests to arrive, mingle, have a few beers, or order food and eat. Staff were rude and inconsiderate, becoming frustrated when people were mingling across the beer garden instead of remaining seated at their ridiculous 30 person table that they had arranged for us even though I said I didn’t want formal dining. Meals were tiny and the menu was “restricted” as there were too many guests - we also weren’t told this until arriving, basically we were offered items found in the freezer section of Woolworths. Not even a kids menu even though they were aware 10 kids were attending. Staff were clearly bothered by kids moving around the joint, not even wanting to offer up bats and balls for the table tennis…. We booked months in advance but were still made to mediate independently with the party who we had been double booked with, staff made it look like we just turned up. The shittest experience I’ve ever had at a pub, and an absolute let down of a birthday. No wonder it’s free to book.

I've been there for two of their Quiz Nights over the last 5 weeks. The food is beyond lacklustre and incredibly overpriced for what was served. The drinks are also probably $2-4 more expensive than they should be after mark-up. I had the Parmy the first time and it was dry and overcooked with next to no sauce and a timy amount of chips and crappy salad. The staff that night couldn't have cared less about serving us and also had lost our booking and made a big deal about them trying to ring us to change the booking, we never recieved a call. Last night we thought we'd give them another chance, the staff were happy enough, I had the steak which tasted ok but poorly cooked, half a handfull of soggy chips and a really average salad. It's really not that hard surely and knowing the cost to make these meals they are making a killing on mark-up if you actually eat there, or they're really struggling and really need to save a buck. The chef needs the sack or to pull their pants up and make a bloody effort. Management need to step in and do something about it. It's terrible. Do yourself an favor and walk up the road to the other hotel, it's worth the effort and way better value for money.

I was extremely disappointed with our recent dining experience due to the behavior of the manager. We simply asked if the big roast didn’t come with Yorkshire pudding (as we had seen online) and she went full on defensive mode. They were rude, argumentative, and their attitude greatly impacted our enjoyment of the evening. She even came back for more after she had left and despite being told no to do it, I told her to stop and go away she insisted on trying to be right. The food was excellent! All merit of the chef. It’s unfortunate that such poor customer service overshadowed what could have been a nice meal.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We went for dinner Sunday night at 6:30 and there was plenty of seating available. The staff were friendly and the food was good and relatively speedy. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. High chair available on request, but no kids menu was listed, but the entrees and sides are enough. A special thank you to Kate who made my little girl feel comfortable and even consoled her when she fell over. Will be coming back again

Recently had a large function. With a large amount of meal orders. The food was great a well priced. The staff was amazing and will be going back 😊

Eaten here twice in the last week. Don’t order the Express a lunch if you truly want or need Express - service is terribly slow. (Only four tables and not busy). What is going on in their kitchen? 35min after ordering still waiting for my soup (entree). Food is good but service is atrociously slow and seems disorganised.

I had a tasteless chicken korma and the other meals were average. Public holiday perhaps.

Was poured a beer at the bar. Which was completely flat in all 3 glasses. I was told it was the glass ... however I've worked in bars for years and this had no head whatsoever. I was not offered another one.. the service was below average and borderline rude. My nan said their senior discounts aren't really that of value. Still 20$ a meal with limited options. Wouldn't come again. Plenty of other places worth your money 💰

Never had a bad meal here in over 5 years of coming here. Have seen staff turn around in that time but never any issues. Last night they were swamped with a large disability group booking which made the place loud and crammed and staff ran off their feet with meals going to wrong tables and a delay in meals coming out all together however they owned it, apologised, refunded off their own backs and still were friendly and courteous.

5 Stars to Tiffany in the Main Bar.It runs so much better when she’s managing, has a different vibe. Competent ,friendly &proactive and trains the inexperienced staff.keep up the good work Tiffany Michael and the Boys

Good decor, fantastic and friendly staff. Good tasting food and great specials. Reasonably priced, no outrageous prices like other pubs. Had the roast special, delicious, personally would have liked a bigger yorkshire pudding and a bit more gravy, but that is just me being greedy.

Friendly waitress, but unfortunately the food was almost unedible. Meat pie, mashed potatoes and mashed peas. The pie had excessive thick crust, partly burnted. Inside, hardly any meat, gray colour gravy. I also observed that other colleagues who ordered the pie left most of it on the plate. The desert, chocolate mousse with whipped cream. Too warm, not properly whipped, Rather runny.

Beautiful place for lunch, delicious fresh fish and chips with a lovely salad. Friendly staff perfect for a Christmas lunch or dinner 🍽 😋

Highly recommend. We had a such an enjoyable dinner at Cooley’s hotel just recently.. Kelsey-lee. The waitress whose name I scribbled on a napkin, as not just myself but our group of 15 pp were in disbelief that we were being served by someone who had seemed to actually love her job and want to be there, we were welcomed with a friendly, big smile. The food was great but the service was even better, kudos to this kind-hearted waitress, the world needs more of you, and not just to pour our beer or to make sure our belly’s are full and we are satisfied. Keep up the great work! Another mention is the beer garden. Just spectacular! Great venue. Thank you for having us. See you one day again. 😀

Cheap and cheerful pub meals, vegetarian happy with cauliflower parmi option

Great food. Also every Sunday you can play 8 ball for free..we had a wonderful day. We first went to the moonah hotel. We asked if they had vB and waitress was so rude told us if you won't VB go to Cooley's so we did.

In my employment I have been to many pubs around Southern Tasmania for meals. I would have to say that the Cooleys is on top. The food was excellent, hot and fresh. The staff very friendly. I will return. Thanks so much for an enjoyable lunch.

New bar menu has something for everyone. Even Yorkshire pudding with your roast.

Very disappointed, both my partner and I got steaks (medium rare) and it came out raw. We then sent both back, I got a new steak but it was cooked the exact same as the first one. My partners steak just thrown back on and still somehow came out raw again. Won’t be going back, chef needs to learn how to cook a steak properly.

Sad to say, absolute disaster of a place. If a chef can’t cook chips, you know it’s a monkey back there. Steak was still alive, chips were white. Never again. Got my money back
