Went there for lunch and was not the greatest to me, I ended up getting the brisket burger and it was a total mess and slop, it wasn’t the worst but was over flowed with sauce, to me the vibe was just like a normal pub and there was nothing special about it. If you want something nice to eat I recommend somewhere else but if you want a quick meal it might be ok.

Overall, The Exchange Hotel is exactly what you’d hope for in a country pub – great food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Taree!

Great place to stop for a quick meal. Had a steak with chips. Couldn't go wrong. I was! It was better than expected! Cooked to perfection, the chips were amazing! Service not 5 stars, 6 ! The staff was very helpful and friendly! Highly recommended.

Paid for drinks then without refund the bar mad came and took drinks off friend on their 50th birthday party and kicked them out. Went to Royal pub and the Royal service was amazing and the people there were so friendly. Drank and played pool at the Royal pub for 3 to hours when they closed.

Staying in Taree on a road trip. Called in here tonight for a beer and a feed. Very welcoming. Nice staff, cold beers and genuinely delicious meals. Easy to recommend this place for families and visitors.

Passing through and decided to try a local pub for dinner and found the Exchange. Both of us had the ribs and wow! Up there with the best we’ve had anywhere. Fall off the bone, perfectly cooked with the right amount of sauce and a mountain of slaw. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the pub was quaint and clean and we left very impressed. Highly recommend! 👏👏

Grabbed a chicken schnitzel lunch special ($14) and it comes with chips, salad and any sauce or gravy. It was perfect. Chips were unreal as well. A lot of food for the price. Staff were friendly and took no time for the meal to come out. Definitely head back here again for a sneaky counter meal.

Went to celebrate a birthday there last night. First time in this venue. Upon entering the bistro bar area, you could see it has been renovated. The staff were very attentive/professional, all with smiles. A lovely clean relaxing enviroment. The meals were all great. Good menu and quiet a few $15 meals, which is hard to find at most venues now. I had the pumpkin and feta salad which was huge and yummy. There was no waiting around for drinks etc as service was quick. The only thing that let this venue down, was no hot drinks. Apparently this is being looked at. Worth giving this place a go.

Good food

We decided to check out the hotel for food & service and were far from happy. Firstly the meat was over cooked & we waited what seemed an eternity to order as they were short staffed. We ventured out to the games room and the AC wasn't working and it was like a sauna.This was our first visit in 12 months and nothing much has changed. We will go back to our favourite hotel.

Worst meal ever, mixed up our order. Bought the entree out with the meal. Steak was overcooked. Mesh was dry. Pepper gravy was overpowering. Alround just a bad experience..

Went there 3 nights for dinner Barman was grumpy at first but ended up OK Food serves were generous Not too busy.

This place is underrated. It is one of my husband and my favourite places to eat in Taree. The food is awesome, especially lately and the service is spectacular. The staff could not be more friendly. Highly recommended.

Had the crumbed Lamb cutlets with chips & salad for lunch. $15. Was delicious, the chips were crispy and the salad was a proper mixed salad, not just leaves & half of a cherry tomato, and all that was left of the cutlets, was the bones. And mushroom gravy is one of the best. Friendly staff.

Had a great meal for lunch, lunch special, you may expect it to be small, no way, full size almost too much to consume, fresh lovely food, clean warm surroundings, and let's not forget, last but no way least best service! Friendly courteous smiling , couldn't ask for better, well done to the staff and management 👍😁😁

Absolutely in our top 3 of eating out ... beautiful friendly staff.. clean premises... staff very polite with smiles.. smelt clean...my gosh even Gordon Ramsay would not turn anything away.. it's bang on .. delicious and excellent value for price. We had Fisherman's Basket husband normally eats everything and he couldn't finish it but he was full and happy and l had the Pot Pie mash & greens & daughters had chicken Snitty and cheeseburger etc bang on! we couldn't believe it.. keep it up.. if you need to stop for eats this is perfect.. we are from Victoria just passing through on our way home from Qld defiantly come back when travelling through again.. cheers Denham Family Victoria

New renovated looks good standard bar drinks .reason I gave this many stars is ate lunch and the mash potato wash dry and tasted like dehydrated potato vegetables didn't go much on only good thing was the beer and lamb cutlets.. staff were great 👍

Visitors to Taree staying one night. Seen exchange hotel website pub looked great nice clean recently refurbished. Booked a room upstairs. Got a shock. Old dingy No flysceens on window not so much as a ceiling fan had mosquitoes. Bit of a clean maybe new carpet and flyscreens and a fan For gods sake

We turned up on Saturday 3rd of September as a family with 2 young girls and the staff could not have been more accommodating for us. They were fantastic. Made us feel so welcome and the lovely lady working there made some wonderful cocktails. We highly recommend The Exchange and thank you so much for a great night for us.
