Beautiful cafe but very dirty. Leftover food on chairs, floor and tables. I politely asked the manager to get someone to clean the table (which had a mountain of plates) and he responded with an attitude. Coffee and food were good value for money.

Needs to have more simple dishes on the breakfast menu for eg mushrooms on toast to much going on with the bacon and egg burger also I had bacon and eggs and the toast was soggy and wasn’t toasted properly been here a few times and doesn’t get any better which is very disappointing.

Bought a takeaway on a few occasions, and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it! Scones are so fluffy not overly sweet, absolutely perfect! Loved their Ruben sandwich, they're difficult to find in other cafes, so was glad to see I can get them here. Salmon bowl was wondering too, fresh, flavoursome and full of ingredients. Had to take one star for the service that can be improved. And croissant was burnt, we only realised when got home and opened the box.

I’ve eaten here few times before and noticed the girls staff are not welcoming and had taken my orders wrong before. But today was a very bad experience at my breakfast. The manager guy was EXTREMELY rude! I ordered the 2 poached eggs on toast with extra avocado + smoked salmon + cream cheese ($32). One of my eggs felt from my plate when i was going to start to eat - it was my fault. But I went again to the queue to order and pay 1 extra poached egg and the manager literally said not even caring “we don’t do that, only 1 egg? you need to order the full plate again”. In a not nice tone. Wow! He must learn how to speak with people and should be ashamed to deal with this “issue” in this way, but clearly it seems like he doesn’t care to the clients. Even tho I’m always staying at the star when I come to the GC, I’m never coming back to M&G and can’t recommend it. 🥴🥱

We recently were staying at the Dorsett and wanted an easy breakfast option, the MG Cafe was perfect. The staff were friendly, food came out fresh and hot. No complaints from us, and it was a nice relaxing breakfast before heading off to our daughter’s wedding !!

We attended M&G this morning for breakfast after a 2 day stay at Star Grand. My partner waited in line to be served for 20 minutes and then we waited at least half an hour for our $50 breakfast that was stone cold. We were so disappointed. Won’t go back there again.

Cold food every day for a week. On the last day I begged for a hot breakfast. It still came stone cold and dead hash browns. I am a high tier star member so I wish to eat here using my well earned points. But never again. It is literally garbage. So many gold coast options that are better

if I could give ZERO stars i would extremely slow service coffee cold replaced coffee had hair in it 35mins wait and breakfast cold asked for a refund and told she needed the meal back...the staff took it !! the manager was USELESS

Arrived around 12.30pm for coffee & cake. Ordered at 12.35pm, sat down with only a handful of customers in the cafe. Waited, waited, waited - 20 mins passed. Went to enquire - nothing was made and staff chatting amongst themselves. Waited another 10 minutes - enquired again. Finally served at 1.10pm - coffees like warm. Walked out in disgust. Never again!

extremely poor menu barely any options to choose from and once we chose something was told they don’t have it and the second thing we chose there was 2 in the display cabinet and was told “oh no we forgot to move them” and couldn’t buy that either. Absolutely absurd. No drink menu on display have to ask for it. Highly HIGHLY do NOT recommend anyone to come here was an absolute headache and waste of time. Bad menu. Bad service. Bad experience. Not worth any stars.

We arrived at M and G cafe well before 10:30 Whig is when the breakfast ends and were denied ordering from the breakfast menu because it was 10:31 and we had been in line for 30 minutes. The cashier was taking so long taking orders and the manager Carly was extremely rude denied that we had been in line for that long. Not only did we pay almost $50 for 3 small sandwiches and 2 coffees that was cold when served, but we were shouted at by the manger and were basically brushed off to the side. Horrible service. Horrible management.

Unfortunately the food and atmosphere was soured by the cold and rude customer service from Carly, the manager. Despite getting in line around 10 and finally being able to order at 10:30, we were told we can no longer order breakfast and berated in the process. No sympathy, no flexibility and all attitude. I would’ve understood if it was dealt with at least an apology for the inconvenience, but we were met with yelling and antagonisation. I can only hope her staff are being treated well.

Carly was extremely rude !!! We dined at the M &G cafe at the star hotel this morning and waited in line for atleast 20-30 minutes and when it came to ordering we were told that breakfast was done at 10:30 the time was 10:31. We were then served by Carly which was supposedly the manager . She was extremely rude to us and went as far as yelling at us. We paid $50 for three very cold sandwiches.

We waited for an hour and a half for breakfast. so terrible. And the food is not tasty.My sandwich is still cold.Really disappointed. THE WORST CAFE!!!

Worst breakfast I've ever had. Food came out all different times, scones were stale, vegan breakfast bowl was tasteless and came in a plastic container (like a service station fridge item), bacon on bacon and egg roll was cold. Tried to tell waiter but he was unable to communicate due to language barrier. Won't be seeing us again :(

Staying at The Star, has become a full time job. All I wanted was pancakes 🥞 and a coffee ☕️. The line was endless as nothing else was open at this time 7:46am. I finally placed my order, and was waiting on my coffee, I asked the server if it was ready, she said soon. I made the comment that I would like coffee with my not so hot pancakes, and melting ice cream, this was to be taken to my room for my husband. I was told I didn't have to be rude, which I didn't think I was, just saying, hot coffee with hot pancakes. To have only one person on coffee at this hour of the morning is ridiculous 🙄. Live up to your name The Star"."

42 min wait for a very average toasted sandwich. Just terrible… do better Star do better!

We ordered 2 toasted bacon egg cheese tomato relish sourdough sandwiches I didn’t want the cheese and relish they were all premade so was told they could scrape it off, so I went with what’s on offer also ordered a coffee and a mineral water! Waited half our for our premade food and drinks, my husband had to go up to check what was taking so long to be told they lost the docket for the kitchen 5 min later the coffee came but no mineral water so had to ask for that , the girl came back put it down hard on the table not offering a glass!! 5 min later our food came it was a oily sloppy toasted mess! I ate a quarter off half my sandwich it was shocking. I think they had double toasted it cause I recon it was left out the back in the kitchen!! I asked the waitress who I could speak to she said the supervisor was on a break!! There was nobody else we waited half an hour and still on their break!! We left we are Locals and thought we’d give it a go how hard is it to make a toasty !! Never again!!

We had the best bacon n egg roll ! The bacons were juicy and freshly made . The sauce was sensational. Also included spinach and tomato slices ! Pls keep it in the menu forever ! Second visit 2/8/23 Again we had the bacon n egg roll. The best ever as always ! This time the Byron bay bacons were used, so juicy and flavorful! The almond crossiants there were so fresh, fluffy, full of almond fillings and flavour and yet light. This is a unique version of almond crossiants , different to the others . Pls keep it forever !

Can only read the menu when you get at the front of the line. They forgot our order. Food was average. Don’t bother.

Great coffee, friendly staff and decent breakfast for the price.

While staying at the Grand Star hotel, we ate breakfast here and what a surprise. The food was delicious (decent portion size as well), affordable prices, friendly staff and seatings is very spacious and make sure you come early as it does get busy here.

Worst service I have ever experienced! Breakfast waited for 40mins and coffee waited for 50mins, understandably it is public holiday could be lack of staff so we have been patient enough, during the waiting time ask 3 times to check the food and coffee, 1 claimed is on the way, 1 claimed lost order, 1 claimed is making for you now. After finished eating breakfast coffee still hasn't arrived so I walked to the coffee counter, I explained to her the situation she then asked me what do you want me to do? Do you want me to refund to you? You should come here to ask, etc! Excuse me??? Instead of a smile but an aggressive tone? LOL

The staff (a women working around 10:45 on Monday, 10 April)who was making coffee need to have a training and education. Such a rule person I have ever seem. I can't believe that the café will employed this kind of person to service their customers in the traveling city. Bad experience in M&G café and Bar. 🤢

Went here to have breakfast as we were staying on property. It wasn’t very busy and there was a dozen tables free however they all had old dishes that had not been cleared. We walked off and thought maybe we would come back and try it for lunch. On return, we stood at the counter for 5 minutes while a staff member polished glasses next to us, suffice to say we took our money elsewhere. There is only cabinet food available here(sandwiches, cakes etc.) and this was the only cafè style place open which was also disappointing.

Worst experience. We will never eat here again. Stuffed up our order 3 TIMES so ended up getting a refund. Maybe don’t hire foreign’s that have no idea about anything.

Service was slow. Coffee took a long time to arrive & was cold. Meals were cold. Would’ve been nice if they arrived hot. Baristas need to learn to make more than 1 coffee at a time & learn how to heat milk. Wait staff then wait for several coffee to made before delivering them to the tables leaving coffee to get colder while sitting on the bench

I don’t want even give any star for this cafe, due to I ordered salmon bowl. I have to wait for 20 mins, when I went for asking for my food, the waitress not even look at my face. And just pick the salmon bowl from the fridge. BAD SERVICE EVER. Am I expected too much from casino?

Got some credits left in our star gift card, so decided to give the “TEA FOR TWO” a go here. The tea set included carrot cake, mud cake, signature doughnut, scones, mixed sandwiches and one standard tea or coffee per person. We both had a flat white. The coffee was nice but not hot enough. The coffee came much earlier than the food as we had to wait for 25 minutes. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were placed nicely on a. The sandwich bread was very dry and the filling also not looked very fresh. The taste was just ok. Then we had the scones which was really good, warm and soft. The carrot cake and mud cake were not bad but the signature doughnut was pretty ordinary as it’s a bit hard, didn’t look fresh at all. This tea set cost $39, good quantities but not qualities.

M&G IS GOOD FOR BREAKFAST OR A SNACK NICE PASTRIES CLEAN SERVICE GOOD.

Just some feed back for staff, 4 people making coffees which is great for a busy place but whilst 5 people are waiting in line waiting to order 5 mins in line which is a lot but when in a hurry and staff are right there would be great to get orders in.many staff clearing which is also great but it’s just a coffee shop/breaky bar so to be acknowledged and one person step off line to take orders would be great. Staff had no idea what was on the sandwiches so had to ask other stuff then the answer was I don’t know if there is egg in it?’ Other than that good.

The staff stuffed up my order and gave me what I am actually allergic to, the toast was undercooked, they didn’t give me my whole order and the service was not friendly. The coffee was burnt. Definitely would not recommend. Would rather go hungry.

The most slow, disorganised and uninspired cafe experience I have ever had. Staff seriously in need of training!

We came here for breakfast this morning. 1 person in our party received their meal, 40 minutes later no one else has received a meal and despite raising it with staff twice, people who ordered after us continued to receive their meals first. There is no order or method to the service, instead of numbering the tables, they hand out numbers so staff pace up and down a large area looking for numbers. Very inefficient service and poor communication between front of house, wait staff and the kitchen. Would not recommend unless you have hours to wait for your food and don’t mind your party eating their meals one at a time.

Absolutely beautiful food and service

Waited at the front counter to not be served for 5 mins, staff and management standing around chatting not even engaging with their customers, had 2 other people also waiting behind me. Very unprofessional. Food was nice that's why given a 2star rating.

My cousins and I had a late breakfast which I was surprisingly quite disappointed in. My food arrived 20 minutes before theirs. I payed $17 for one small slice of bread with some avocado on it. Then an additional $4 to have eggs. The portioning was the smallest I have ever had with the amount of money I payed for my meal. The service was quite poor little happy engagement and was almost kicked out of the line for not finding my own table which we did not know about. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I ordered this - a triple cheese sourdough. I certainly was not expecting chips for breakfast. I also was waiting close to 30 minutes for it to come out too.

The food here is well priced we came here for breakfast. The service is fantastic and the choice of food was really good. The quality of the food that came out was what I expect from a high end Cafe without the price. Seating was comfortable and everything was seasoned perfectly even the grilled tomato. The bacon was amazing and the poached eggs perfectly cooked can't fault them. The muesli was vibrant and smelled amazing with the orange zest and lemon balm garnish. The only complaint and it's small is 1. Please stop garnishing breakfast with rocket... use chives parsley a basil sprig... anything except rocket ... and the muesli could have used a little more yoghurt. There wasn't quite enough to cover all the crunch. Other wise perfectly done well priced and great service.

Ordered 2 Toasted sandwiches & Avocado on toast with a side of poached eggs for the Toasted sandwiches.Eggs were brought out with the Avocado on toast, 40 mins later, no sandwiches and eggs had been sitting there for so long they had hatched. Asked for a refund, which we got, but absolutely no apology. Absolutely chaotic place. Avoid at all costs

Since COVID they stopped doing meals. Bar drinks and tea, coffee still available and a small selection of cabinet treats offered. Comfortable seating and quite intimate location to sit down for a nibble and drink. Terrific place for a meet&greet (M&G) before movie or show. Five Stars we love it. Bring back the onion rings please. :)

Very good. Coffee very good. Service, excellent. To be honest with you I went to The Star casino to do some work and to do some writing and I was not really expecting coffee and service this good. I was very pleasantly surprised each point of contact looks me in the eye spoke eloquently and the staff genuinely took pride in their service and their attitude towards me and also the other customers when I noticed. One of the most impressive things I saw about the service was there was a very nice lady looking after the tables and collecting Empty glasses and empty plates she wished me a happy new year and when I left she wished me a goodnight. I guarantee you I don't get this level of sincerity and service at any of the snobby cafes I paid more for a coffee at anywhere on the Gold Coast. The real Star at the casino are your staff. Thank you

Again bar service almost non existent especially when the 2 serving have make cocktails. Just and twiddle your plastic and wait.

Tonight was appalling service. I understand it was busy being new years eve but it took over an hour 15 minutes to get some toasted sandwiches were already in the cabinet just needed to be toasted. They weren't even hot when they arrived. None of the food arrived together and the toasted cheese sandwich wasn't even melted and even didn't get time to finish eating.

Worth a coffee and cake for sure.

We lined up in this big line out the front of the restaurant as we couldnt get a table at the Garden Bar. The waitress brought around a menu then when we got closer to what we thought we were getting seated!! we were actually lining up to order food. Would think you would be seated first. Isnt table service and you get a buzzer like you would at a surf club. I think for the casino they need to change there approach.

Poor service and average food quality. I had to send my breakfast back as the Avocado was black. Then, I ordered a sparkling water - glass arrived with lipstick on it. Waitress looked disinterested in what I had to say. Unacceptable for a cafe operating in the complex of a premium hotel.

Had the steak lunch special, very well cooked steak. Juicy and tender. Great value for money! The service from the staff was very professional and friendly.

Tried their March lunch special meal A$14.95 sirloin beef the meat was cold & tough even just A$14.95 but not worth to try. Give 2 stars because of the staff's service. They were Nice.

Shockingly poor service, and staff did not look interested at all. There was no effort from the wait staff to help find a seat, or to help find sugar that we required with our coffees. The waiter took their sweet time to deliver food, when the cafe wasn't even busy. The cafe is not customer focussed, while it charges premium prices for sub-standard food! Very poor service from a 5-star hotel cafe, and I felt disappointed because I would get better service from my local McDonald's cafe (no exaggeration)! I will never go back, and it’s far from the level of standards you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Sort it out asap Star!!!

Very slow service as it took a while for the drinks and food to arrive. Coffee was burnt, eggs were crumbly like powdered egg and smoked salmon was way too salty. Generally everything tasted bad except for the coconut smoothie I ordered.

Came here for dinner after a free movie. The $14.95 pork belly was fantastic. But the service was way too slow. We waited for more than 30 minutes for the meals to be served to our table.

Taste was above average, pricing reasonable, location is right across the casino, I got the fried chicken it was huge, surprisingly the inside is not dry and is still cooked through tender and juicy, will want to see what the other dishes taste like, good selection from the menu.

Really Great Coffee, the Ruben was so nice! I have never earn a freakshake like it! (Even though I bought it for my son!) Was really a great experiace, I had to order at the counter like Coffee Club, really different to ge rest of the restaurants in Star GC!
