Good old-school pub in a convenient central location

Fantastic inner city pub. Has moved so well with modern times and a welcome member of an improved section of Sydney. Food was bloody excellent so were the staff. Atmosphere was wonderful as well. Keeps the old school vibe downstairs with a modern flavour upstairs. Like i always say kids, do yourselves a favour and check it out. I've been around enough to remember what this area was like more than 35 years ago and let me tell it's now incomparable. So get in there!!

Rudest Security staff I’ve ever met. Absolute power trippers. Deserve to be unemployed

Completely abusive and unprofessional bar manager. Just got kicked out for asking my money back after never being served for drinks I ordered through their app. Waited 30min before to head to the bar. Staff not knowing their app system and refusing to serve drinks I paid for or to reimburse me. Then after waiting another 5min, I got threatend not to be reimbursed if I wasn't leaving the venue with security because I expressed not being happy with the situation and asked for a refund. Disgusting person and service really.

Clare was amazing in helping us host our Christmas Party at The Strawberry. She made the whole process hassle free. Food was delicious and the Friday night DJ created a great atmosphere. Thank you!

Loved our dinner here on Saturday - food was awesome, so we're the drinks but hats off to the servers who were bringing out drinks and food (friendly, helpful.and great banter).

A little noisy due to Christmas work parties. It was a good place to wait for the train to Melbourne to arrive. Good cheap food and drinks.

Menu is old and tired. But of more concern while we were eating people at the next table were vaping with what appeared to be tacit acceptance from the floor staff. Plenty of staff wandering in and out with food and picking up plates. Not a venue I want to return to if that is the norm.

Had a works Christmas lunch there, and it was really busy. Upstairs was so hot, they had no air-conditioning and everyone was dripping. Food and drinks reasonably priced.

We dined here before heading up to the nearby Grand Electric Theatre and this was close enough to walk which was helpful. The rooftop area was spacious and open for an area to drink and eat. The bar is classy and there were options to order - QR code at table or at the bar. We enjoyed $13 cocktails as it was a Thursday and the food was fantastic. I had the swordfish special which was fresh and tasty. Clean facilities - which is always a great thing. Central location in the city and has a great vibe.

Firstly there were no stonies at 4pm on a Saturday and then my burger was served in two pieces of bread so I can only assume they also ran out of buns. Two crucial elements when at the pub, beers and burgers, both not available. Disappointed.

Best pub in Sydney!! Nothing is too much trouble. Chef and his staff always go out if their way for even the most mundane takeaway orders. The mash and salad are outstanding! The bar staff and management are great and always happy for a chat..when not too busy.

Probably this place is best suited for watching games and drinking beer, not food. Food is ok but overpriced

Food was okay, but as I was rolling my expensive folding bike to store under my table, completely out of sight, a staff member came over and said they aren’t allowed in. That is my transportation and in that area of town, I am not storing it outside to be stolen. The folding bike had a smaller profile than a pram, but I bet they would let one of those into the venue. The lady cited the reason is that someone had tripped over on the stairs in the past. Okay, that is fair, but why not send them to the lift? It was going under my table out of the way. Nobody was at the bottom of the stairs to prevent me from climbing up, so the reasoning feels weak. Not to mention the work, health, and safety hazard the lady put herself in by climbing up even more stairs to store it in a terrible place on a disused stairwell. Easier to put under the table yet again. If I could ride into the pub on a folding bike or other micromobility device I would come and spend more at this business. As it stands they will not get my regular visits with more transport inclusive pubs around.

Unfortunately there’s nothing lower than a 1 star.This place is so unprofessional and so rude.I wan’t bring my kids here at 5:20 and the door men where already trying to kick us away and didn’t even try welcome us in.I booked this place In advance and we only had 30 minutes because it didn’t say anything on the website so I booked it for 2 hours!it took them more than 20-30 minutes to bring a bowl of chips!this place is so rude and the staff members where a big part of it.

The guy at the door was one of the most unprofessional men I've ever met. Clueless and had zero people skills or manors. The other door men said he's a bully towards the rest of the workers. He was very aggressive and shouldn't have that position. How you allow this behavior is beyond me. Sort it out!

The venue is historic and has had updating.. The drinks were inexpensive for the area & the staff were very friendly.

We always have a drink & meal at the Strawberry Hills Hotel, either before, or after attending a Sydney Swans match. The food is great, the service wonderful, friendly & efficient & the atmosphere pumping! Would highly recommend, particularly the upstairs garden room.

Great pub near Central Station. I original condition which is comforting as most pubs are being refurbished and losing their old world charm. Service upstairs is always great. Go on a Monday night for the best midweek steak deal. Delicious and very, very reasonable. Loved the coleslaw as well guys. Great pub.

2 hours queuing to get I with the with the queue not moving whatsoever. Absolutely ridiculous, tell the people waiting they won’t get in, no need for an airing indefinitely.

I called in on Sunday for a couple of beers and found the lady behind the bar very friendly and helpful. Worth the visit if you’re in town

Old school loved it.

Had a great dinner with friends. Everybody enjoyed their meal and my Lamb shank pie was exceptional. Staff was very helpful anf friendly. All around a great experience.

Lovely pub! Had the chicken parmigiana and it was spot on!! Even the side salad was delicious… The service was good and they were very nice 🌷

We had a really good experience at the Strawberry Hotel yesterday. There was plenty of space, clean tables and everything we needed, and everything was easy to order! The food was good and we didn't have to wait long. Parmigiana came with grilled eggplant inside, it was very tasty! I can recommend this place to my friends. Thank you!

Beer was cold and toilets were clean. Didn't get food while we were there so can't comment on this.

Best service kind staff

Last minute booking for 90 people for 1 hour. Staff were so helpful and accommodating. We were upstairs on a rainy day heaters were on, it was warm and lovely. Thankyou

The security let the girls that were with us in, and told the guys to go home. It’s the second time time happens, I’m not coming back to this place.

One of the best pub food places for quality food at a reasonable price. Great staff

I don’t even want to give one star but I have no choice. Last night I visited the venue with friends and we were stood in the queue chatting with eachother and joking around with other people in the queue. The seccy then turned around and told us aggressively that if we keep talking we aren’t getting in for no reason. He was rude and for some reason on a major power trip. He continued to ignore everybody in the queue and let in who he liked when he liked or people he was friends with. Me and my friends left the queue and I asked for his name so I could make a complaint however that was not received well at all and he proceeded to attempt to wrestle my phone from hands and shine a uv torch in my eyes. Going out on a Saturday evening and being assaulted by a seccy who clearly has too much power and not enough brains is not my idea of a good experience. I am not the only one he targeted and I find it absolutely vile that someone can get away with such behaviour. I wouldn’t spend a penny in this place ever again.

What a nice place to have dinner,upstairs bristo was the place to be,such great friendly service,big shout out to our barmaid the Irish one,great food and not to long to wait for it,music was good,vibe was good ,not far from central station or a nice pleasant walk from the light rail

Went to the Strawberry after attending the Anzac Day march, 2024. The place was packed, but our brave diggers would have heartily approved of the conduct and bravery of the bar staff in the trenches that day. One young blonde lass was getting those beers poured, paid for and a smile as fast as a Bren gun re loader. Was back there recently on a quieter night. My beer was poured with skill beyond the bar girls years, decent pub food, and a cheeky cocktail. Feels like i a place i might drop into more often.

I had great time for mother's day. Food and staff was incredible.

I mean it's a good pub, but no foxtel. So if you want to watch the footy, make sure it's free to air!

When I buy the exact same drink and served by different staff, the price is different. The team leader of the wait staff is rude. After buying a couple of drinks and food (finished eating and drink was done), I sat there for about 15 minutes of not ordering anything else, I was told to leave by her. Not in a polite way either. I also noticed she is a bit bossy to the staff.

Few drinks on Thursday night after footy. Great service and good Atmosphere.

The bouncers on Friday night are very homophobic. Any inkling that gays want to enter the bouncers will turn you away by stating that you aren't welcome here and you should go to another venue.

Terrible experience due to aggressive security guards at the door. Felt unwelcome and intimidated. Avoid this pub unless you enjoy hostility.

Whatever security company that is employed here needs to be dropped ASAP. Losing legitimacy with incredibly inhospitable and hostile guards.

The security guards are bipolar. They were extremely rude to my friends and were very unprofessional. They made false statements about us and were being aggressive. I’m a tourist from Germany and this is just so unwelcoming. My friends were all from Sydney and they agreed with me. In general, do no recommend. It is grim inside anyway.

Wouldn’t piss on this place if it was on fire. Rude staff.
