Nice food
The machines in this venue are tampered with and rigged. I hope that we can get laws that will get rid of porkies.
Great place for a very affordable lunch. Beef Spare Ribs were fantastic and the $15 lunchtime Parma really good and great value for money.
Michelina Served me an my party of 8 when came in close to the Bistro closing, she was FANTASTIC!! Extremely friendly and very helpful- most of us had the lunch parmy special for $15, the food came out very quickly and was a great feed!! Made our little trip fantastic, if ever down this way again will definitely stop by! Highly recommend!! 💖
New manager 😁 Huge improvement Service Security Safety Well Done 👍
Went to enjoy a birthday dinner for myself, although there was a minor inconvenience when it came to our drinks, the server Matt was quick to give us reassurance of the mistake on the bar staffs end and apologised. Our order was fixed right away. Adding to this, Matt also made sure to make my birthday a bit special with a cute little dessert at the end of our meals. The food is 10/10, compliments to the chef and their cooks. I specifically come here to enjoy the steak, it has never failed me. I have been coming here for four to five years, the new management is splendid and much more customer connected. Thank you Junction Hotel and Matt, I’ll see you next time!
Good food at great prices. Nice environment and friendly helpful staff.
Fast service. Great for large families.
Terrible and grumpy staff. Zero hospitality skills. Dont go there if you expect a smile and welcoming staff. At 4:30pm on a Saturday I was asked, rather rudely, to move tables as the one I was seated at was reserved for dinner yet I was the only one seated in the whole bistro area. I explained I would be leaving within 30 minutes but despite that the “manager” was called and I was told to move. Will never be back!! Kind regards Preston resident
Classic pub in the middle of town. Plenty of parking. Good meals drinks and service.
Staff are great and funny; well maintained premises and interesting crowd. Recommended
Was here on a Thursday night to have dinner and do some trivia. parking available nearby the Junction hotel/ pub in Preston which is situated in the corner. very lively venue, pokies next door. there's a bistro and beer garden outside. plenty of tvs for sports, ordered a carbonara pasta, taste was good. staff were polite as well. was an easy going and relaxed pub. the is located on the corner of high Street and plenty road next to a tram line so you can't miss it.
Went for lunch recently, and they told me that I was 3 minutes too late to order food. Disappointing, probably wont go back.
Good place to relax eat drink and gaming room.We always love ya work🤗🤣
me and my beloved husband came to this venue for his splendid 98th birthday however we were extremely pleased with the service we have received. Firstly there were little kids running around screaming and taking photos of strangers. The little kids were also on the pokey machine which I find very unpleasant as they were definitely underneath the age of 18 Delete lease the food was extremely unpleasant with the fish and chips ordered being overcooked and it was also yellow yellow and my husband Palmer was undercooked pink in the middle. There were also another set of kids on the table next to us that kept screaming every time we talked they would just scream gayyy. also sliding lines of salt on the table which i find extremely inappropriate. while ram the main waiter was walking around the facility he was extremely clumsy, spilling a couples drinks and was Not willing apologising my experience at this place was very disgusting. I definitely would not recommend if anyone touring the area. Rama being pretty funny was being a little weird during our interactions he wasn’t really nice, but he was still funny Guy try to Engage in small talk and drastically failed he also he should definitely shave them nose has but definitely not the kitchen as I found a few hairs in my food not knowing where they were from this is A very unpleasant experience definitely would not recommend any people looking around the area.
Spoke with ram on phone very rude he Wont let me speak with the venue manager he mentioned for privacy reasons 😂 and its a hospitality business what a shame !! All i wanted is to speak with manager regarding job enquiry.
The food here was very average and I definitely wouldn't eat there again. There was only two other people in the restaurant and they left in a hurry without finishing their meals. At first I thought maybe they were running late for something, but after my meal was served I realised it was because of the food quality. My chicken curry was a reheated meal, but this isn't my main concern. I didn't eat most of the chicken, because the overall flavour wasn't nice, but what concerned me most, was that the chicken smelled like it was close to expiring. It was also fairly apparent the crumbed prawns were reheatef items from the freezer. I would have put more stars for atmosphere, but apart from us, the restaurant was empty, most likely due to the food quality. The outside of the building is beautiful, the dining area is nice and the staff were, friendly, but in my opinion this doesn't really help matters if the chef can't cook. It seems to me that the Junction Hotel relies on their income from the pokies and sadly due to this, the food is not a priority.
Good
Quick service, friendly staff, good food.
Nice looking place but please change your toilet paper it’s disgusting that today you’re using that kind of toilet paper.
Brett and the team looked after us lovely, for a late, mid week evening meal. A nice comfortable atmosphere.
There was a man on the table next to us who doesn't appear to understand that shouting isn't always necessary, and we had trouble hearing our own conversation. Everything else was great.
I had the Aussie Parma . Bacon on the top was burnt to a crisp, which made the whole thing taste burnt . Chips were nice .
Great pub meal. Everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. Can't beat simple food done really well. Service was excellent, prompt and genuinely friendly. Choice of ambient music wasn't great being modern pop that was two & three notches too loud. Would highly recommend you eat there over most other pubs in the area.
45 minutes to get four chicken paramas and chips where cold , had to go get cutlery myself as after asking staff to bring cutlery on 2 occasions to no results.
Friendly staff, cozy gaming room. Beer cold.
Relaxing
Waiting hours for food I’m Still Waiting
The new management seems to have put a new lease of life into the Junction. Might start heading back down there again. Friday night cash draw is a great idea, especially when the Mrs wins 🤣. Welcome back to my circle of pubs again Junction 🤣🤣
Used to be good now terrible
Liyeso
Food was standard bistro pub fare The staff were excellent though very nice and friendly
I stopped by on a Wednesday for lunch with my friends. Didn't need a booking. We all went for the specials two of us got the parmigiana and pot combo for $20. And the others got special parmies bolognaise flavoured for a couple of bucks extra from the specials menu. We put on some keno then enjoyed ourselves. The food was fantastic everyone loved there meal and it was a struggle to finish which is never a bad thing. I couldn't fit it all in, will definitely be back it was a great lunch, and we got $5 from the Keno win. Nice quiet atmosphere we sat where we wanted, right in front of the nice gas fireplace. Your doing a great meal at a great price keep up the great work.
Very friendly staff, very good food and nice interior, would highly recommend
Decent down to earth pub.
The food was fantastic. The calamari are the best i’ve ever had. Great service friendly staff
Decent food, nice atmosphere, but Tim behind the bar is extremely rude and un friendly. Hopefully his service can get better in the future, especially on the day of a funeral.
Nothing special, I have not tried food there so no comment.
Unfriendly staff
Menu change from the last time We went , place have some great discounts if you have a pension card. Good quality seems to have gone down slightly , I’ve posted the menu . Staff service was average and the toilets was shocking and clogged at the time .
Staff tonight were rude, normally the staff here are great but tonight they went out of their way to be unhelpful. Really disappointing from a local venue.
Had an amazing meal, we are seniors and ordered as such. Received the the same large plates as full retail pays!
Not a bad venue but it’s always freezing. All the patrons complain but staff say they have no access to change the temperature. Try the croxton
The food here is excellent. Top notch taste and meticulously presented. The chips were crisp and fresh from non-frozen potatoes. The noodles are perfectly seasoned and full of crisp vegetables. Curry dishes perfect. The salads, fresh and full of darker greens with some kind of brilliant dressing. Only thing is the food arrival can be slow at times. We ordered a particular dish, and when we checked after waiting for a long while, it turned out we hadn't ordered it at all! The woman taking our order misunderstood what we said or didn't listen! Again, thanks for the nice tucker, chefs!
The two bar staffs were excellent especially after their supervisor couldn't understand our ordering and we were one meal short on our table. It was the other two staff members Jake and Carlos that noticed and corrected their Manager error where as she was more worried about what was ordered and not her error. No apologies offered from the SUPERVISOR! Family shouldn't be given these roles if they can't manage simple tasks.
Usual pokies joint
Very friendly staff and the meals were delicious. Great place 👍
It’s just the very embodiment of three stars. It’s cozy, there’s always sport on, and the beer selection is good. BUT - it’s so lazy. It just doesn’t fit in with the South Preston/Thornbury surrounds at all. The food is rubbish, and you can’t possibly have confidence in dietary requirements, which is really important in this area. And I don’t know why anyone would put pokies in their pub here. The gentrified inner north ain’t seeking out pokie joints. I understand having the TAB, but pokies are just a weird thing to have here.
Best of heading to the Croxton
Great staff and the dinners are great and affordable
Great place for family dinner, food is awesome and friendly staff's
Some of the rudest staff ive ever encountered, One of the older ladies greeted me when i went to the bar with 'What do you want !!' The other, a taller blonde younger lady, Greeted me with...'Turn your cap around'.. And every time i needed assistance in the pokies, she never once asked, 'how can i help, or even a hi, how are you today...' everything seemed like such a chore.... Your working in hospitality luv, your miserable face is the last thing i want to see, when ive just dropped $1000 bucks... Also, when i asked the male worker 'i think he's the mangaer for something.... he casually continued on with his conversation he was having with another worker before assisting me... A different day walked past him and a female staff member having convo as i walked in....I smiled and said hello!! They both just glared at me and continued on with their conversation...not a big deal... but not really the right attitude when your in hospitality...especially from a manager... Other then those encounters, the other stalf have been pleasant... the security guards are probably the most helpful.... always being the first to assist when i need to withdraw some money... the other 3 will almost roll their eyes, and finish their convos before assisting... Shocking customer service!!! I really hope who ever owns this place reads this....because some of their attitudes are disgraceful... It all starts at the top...so if management is treating customers like this....ofcourse staff are going to follow suit and think its acceptable to do the same... I worked in gaming for 5 years...so i know quite a few of the people you deal with are not the easiest or politest people going around.... but when a normal well dressed, well mannered customer comes in... Do what you getting paid to do, and start treating people with a little more respect... If you can't do that....i suggest you work in another industry.... but as i said earlier... the manager is well aware of whats happening...and one of the main culprits.... so i doubt anything will change... next time im there...if nothing changes...ill be taking note of their names...and adding it to the review..
Friday 23/12, visited the junction hotel. Served by a lovely young girl named Cailey behind the bar. Whilst being served, another female employee came over and spoke with Cailey in a firm tone and said to her that she had made mistakes with orders twice. Cailey was clearly taken aback being reprimanded in front of customers. I thought this was very unprofessional. I think the “managers” name was Julie. On a more positive note, the food was great.
Food was really disappointing this time. In the past the food has been great. There were no customers in the restaurant which was odd for a Sunday. The fish was in small pieces like offcuts. It was full of bones. The roast pork was dry and inedible. Such a shame as this is one of the better pubs in preston. Really hope this was just an off day for the kitchen. Service was good as always
I normally don’t write bad reviews but if you have a dietary requirement please avoid eating here. I went and ordered a vegetarian dish. They have a separate menu for all their meat free dishes. I was told a couple times it was mock meat. Pretty devastating after asking a staff member to check for the third time with the chef to only find out you’ve been eating chicken. Was also not offered a refund of any sort…
Standard issue pokies/TAB pub. Reasonably priced bistro, however part of the tables area looks directly into the pokies room so some families may wish to avoid, or at least ask to be seated elsewhere. Separated public bar filled with a mix of friendly characters betting on the horses. Good for a yarn over a cold one and a game of pool. Sadly though, the character filled bar doesn't balance out the lack of character in the staff who were a mix between disinterested, and flat out insultingly rude.
Great for coffee
Was only place open, staff were a bit put out that we wanted serving but it was worth the stop
Great experience, amazing with children of all ages and absolute hands down best feed in Melbourne! Can not recommend the food any higher then 5 other wise I would!
Craig and Helen serve a great meal with top taste and the bestest service ever. If you are looking for a place that's family friendly this is the place. Highly recomended
Food was ok customer service was atrocious. 3 large-ish tables in the bistro today and two were parties. One was for an 80y/o woman. They were treated wonderfully by the lady who appeared to be the manager, plates, cutlery and serving knife provided for their cake. The other was my daughters 1st birthday. We had to clear our table ourselves to make room to sing happy birthday. When I asked for plates and such for our cake we were not provide with cutlery until some had finished earing. When I asked for an extra sugar packet it was handed to me like I had offended her. She told us with a laugh she would finish clearing our table when we left. Our group was the smallest of the 3 yet we seemed to be such a bother. If any tip was left I assure you it fell from someones pocket. Last time we dine here.
The bartenders here really make me feel like I'm walking into my grandma's house on Christmas day as a little girl. I feel welcomed yet there is the slightest hint of distain but nonetheless love the nostalgia that engulfs me every time I open those glass doors. I was quite keen to play some keno and was very disappointed to discover that all of the pencils needed sharpening. I have a severe aversion to blunt grey lead pencils and find that they may even cause bad luck. I used to carry around a pencil sharpener for such occasions, however in recent times I haven't played as much keno as I once did so it isn't as necessary as it once was. Yes, the blunt pencils did put me off keno. No, the blunt pencils did not put me off the junction. I enjoyed a splendid G&T and soaked in the beautiful sun rays of Preston whilst remembering a time I had come here twenty years ago with my ex-husband for a slap on the pokies. All around a very nostalgic visit and I'll certainly be back for some keno!
Pretty good parma!
Had a great time and the blokes behind the bar were super friendly.
