Always stay here when staying in Launceston, big clean rooms and great location with excellent staff
Quiet and clean rooms, excellent service from all staff within the hotel, and a fantastic location! We enjoyed our stay, especially how convenient the location was to the restaurants, attractions, etc. We could walk or drive to some of the best food Launceston has to offer. Would definitely stay again.
We booked a Superior King Room at Hotel Launceston (Mercure) months in advance, expecting a quality stay. Upon arrival, we discovered our room was not in the main hotel but a dingy, outdated motel-style shack overlooking the car park—far from the City Park and North Esk River views promised on their website. The room was dark, with stained carpets, yellowing walls, and a view of air-conditioning units. When we raised concerns, the receptionist, Lorry (sp?), was dismissive, defensive, and unapologetic. She claimed the room was “locked” in their system, preventing reassignment, and insisted she would “fix the website” rather than address our issue. No manager was available, and no resolution was offered. Frustrated, we checked out and found last-minute accommodation at Hotel Verge, where service and quality were exceptional. Hotel Launceston’s misleading advertising, lack of security (motel-style access from the car park), and appalling customer service make it unworthy of its 4.2-star rating. We wouldn’t even give it 1. Avoid at all costs.
Only one chair and no table in the room it was underfurnished
Great location , easy check in and friendly and obliging staff.
The guest house enjoys a prime location, and the check - in process is a breeze. The rooms are not only spotlessly clean but also possess a unique charm. Should my friends plan a visit to Stanley, I will definitely recommend they stay here.
Front desk staff were amazing, very friendly and warming. Rooms were awesome. Nice size bathroom, beautiful king bed and plenty of room in the room itself.
Very comfortable but small room. Clean. Attentive staff. Breakfast was ok but attention to keeping items stocked a little below average. Overall, given location etc, a good choice when in Launceston.
Very welcoming and helpful reception, smily and attentive, much appreciated. Our room was facing the street, which was quite noisy but for only one night, it was ok. Note that the car park is quickly full, and its access surprisingly steep !
Nice clean room, easy walk to town. Unfortunately because of flight disruptions I arrived late and there's no room service available after hours, but Uber Eats is a thing!
Amazing experience at Mercure Launceston..
Goede en ruime kamer, prima bedden.
A good hotel and got it for a reasonable price for a family member to stay for 10 days while in Launceston.
Fantastic location right across from City Park. Great views of the park and the greater Launceston area. Room was spacious and adjoining bathroom was pleasantly large. Staff were friendly and helpful, and managed any issues with ease.
面对马路的房间很吵,后来帮我换了房,住得舒服
整體不差, 不過車路實在太嘈, 可考慮加雙層玻璃隔聲
I didn't expect the hotel to be a bit of motel style hotel but everything was good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room I got was actually quite big and clean. The only issue was the air condition, which was directly above the table, and I couldn't stop it from swinging air at my head while doing some work. The bistro was nice and breakfast was more than sufficient. I would definitely stay here again if I am passing by Launceston again. Probably not a hotel for an extended stay but short business trips and pass by is perfect.
This was our 3rd/4th stay - always great - clean, well appointed, good standard and well located with easy access and on site carparking.
An average hotel for a short stay, offered a good rate at time of booking. I thought the location was close to the city but apparently it’s at the end/top of Brisbane street and a good distance to walk to the CBD
Made our way into Launceston on boxing day and checked in at the Mercure. Whilst the reception staff were friendly, they failed to provide the basic information about breakfasts (which i had paid for). During the evening on return to the hotel, the reception staff appeared to be not interested, tired and not wanting to be there (great customer service).||Rooms very clean, bathroom whilst small (think Japanese size) was functional however water pressure could have been better.||Something I haven't seen before was the iron permanently wired into the wall (within the cupboard) with a push button timer switch. I can appreciate the safety feature of this idea however when there are two people in the room it can be congested around the cupboard and the doorway into the bathroom and the time allowed is so short that you have to lean across the ironing board and potentially the iron to push the button back in.||The property is located about 3-4 blocks away (up a slight incline) from the city centre.||All in all a comfortable place to overnight, could have been improved very easily by cheery and helpful reception staff.
1 night Over all great, staff helpful, booking team helpful, room spacious, ground floor perfect. Thank you it was the 1 night relaxation we needed.
3 &1/2 stars - Overall the Launceston Mercure is a tiny but very nice hotel. The room was nice, but my wife thought the bathroom small. I loved the new interior of the bathroom. The bed was great & we heard little noise from other guests and little from the street. The buffet Brekky was better than the Rydges buffet (whose bacon was overly salty as was their sausages). We found the Mercure bacon just right as well as its sausages. Pizza squares were a nice addition! My wife was disappointed with the selection of fruit, noting there was only fruit in syrup or juice & nothing fresh. Otherwise the food was hot, scrambled eggs fluffy & plentiful, bacon crisp & the coffee good. My wife normally has peanut butter on toast but because all of the condiments were in jars she decided against it, the reason will be obvious in my next paragraph. A couple came in & rather than using the tongs to pick up a selection of bread, they used their hands. This might have been okay if the male would have picked a selection instead of PUTTING THE BREAD BACK AFTER PICKING IT UP. He did it three times! First picking up 2 white slices & putting them back, then 2 whole wheats & putting those back & then raisin or something else with his hands before putting it back down. Geez Louise. Perhaps Titanium should use a covered bread pan with a sign above it asking people to USE THE TONGS. Thus, is the reason why my wife refrained from using the jar of peanut butter. Otherwise our stay was great & quite relaxing. 🙂
The view from our room is the worst view we have ever had. I understand sometimes the view may not be what you expect, but could you at least clean up the weeds and crap i have to look at. |Lucky the park across the road is lovely because we waited there for an hour til our room was ready
Rooms were clean and quiet and beds are comfortable. The only thinks is the bathroom design is very compact. Staff were very friendly. Hotel is located at a walking distance from the town centre. Also across the road is the beautiful park where you can have picnics and BBQs. Breakfast was lovely and good very good value for money.
My wife and I stayed here for New Year’s Eve recently as Accor Platinum members. I’d emailed earlier asking about breakfast and a possible upgrade. The room we were upgraded to was wonderful and the breakfast put together for our early departure was amazing. This place gets better and better each time I stay here.
Nice room, great price
Stayed 2 nights, it's OK. Pros Budget friendly Generally Clean - had some mud on the sheets?? Easy parking All you need for a crash Easy location Cons Small rooms Old but refurbished-ish The noise - they do give you earplugs. The bar is mostly closed - not sure how hard it is to job share dispensing drinks, easy way to make more money. Overall you get what you pay for. Have stayed in many mercures and this would be at the bottom. Otherwise it gets the job done if you're passing through. My alternative was grand chancellor at this price range not sure how that would have turned out. Good luck.

Great hotel that is clean, friendly and centrally located. The hotel restaurant is well worth trying too.
Nice stay, convenient and clean. Not at the modern standards I was expecting for a Mercure hotel though! However, it appears to be one of the best places to stay in Launceston!
The room and location was excellent. The bed could have been a little bit better but overall good.
Arrived late, the hotel texted us our details on how to get our keys.|Was a little disappointed we were on in the main building and were located in motel styled accommodation.|Located across from City Park and within walking distance of all the main places and restaurants in town.|The rooms were clean with a basic mini bar and television offering.|Not to large but not too small either and we had a king size bed which was great.|Nothing special but was somewhere to lay our heads for the night.
Booked for a 6 night stay, paid what we consider a reasonable amount of money, for a tiny dingy room that looked over a very uninviting car park. We said we didn’t want our room serviced daily, however after the second night we needed towels and toilet paper. I placed the room label out. On our return our room was serviced. The following morning I reached for my Valium, I take on occasion for travelling. It was no where to be found. My husband and I turned the room upside down. The box was in my bedside table when we left the prior morning, and gone when checked the next morning .To say I’m livid about having my medication stolen is an absolute understatement. You would expect to have to put tablets away in Bali not Tasmania. Management backed there staff member 100 per cent saying the cleaner who serviced our room had a heart condition and would never take someone else’s medication. “This has never happened before “blah blah. Management checked room again with our permission, to no avail. I had to ring and find out how the room check went some 2.5 hours later. They were not forthcoming with any kind of apology and kept trying to place the blame on me. They credited us the remaining three nights of the stay and we had to find alternative accommodation. In hindsight I should have asked for an entire credit for the entire stay. I have never been so disappointed in what’s meant to be a large well know hotel group. I will not ever stay or recommend anyone stay at Mercure Launceston ever again.
This hotel is on a very busy road, staying in the front row of rooms was very noisy with traffic noise. There are other rooms off the street which would be better.
Location is good, close to many restaurants and shops. They have plenty of free carpark space at the back of the hotel.Receptionist is very helpful and polite.Room is clean and comfortable.
5/5|Thanks to Chelsea, kind and considerate and friendly reception face after a difficult day and unexpected overnight stop here. |The rooms have been updated and are comfortable and lovely, there isn’t a guest lounge unfortunately so nowhere to sit if not in your room other than the dining room.
I stayed at best western plus for 4 days. Everything was great. The room was spotless. The personnel were friendly and caring.
Overall, we were happy with our stay. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Our room was a bit noisy as the walls seemed thin (we could hear our neighbours' conversations) but the bed was good and the room had all that we needed to be comfortable. Very convenient location being across the road from the beautiful city park and a doable walk to the CBD for most.
We enjoyed staying here and liked the larger room we had and the gold welcome drinks we were allowed to take from the mini bar. The hotel is located in a great area next to City park with free parking up a steep drive. The bathroom was renovated and had good water pressure with herby smelling toiletries. We would stay here again for sure.||We did eat breakfast here which was good but not enough staff. The poor server, Aspen, was doing such a great job. She was calm and friendly even though she just had too much to do. As they are charging $27 a breakfast, they can afford to employ an extra person for 3 hours to cover!
酒店房乾淨,服務員有禮貌,洗手間比較細,但價錢便宜提,很滿意。另有免費停車場,已經抵番啦,下次再去也會入住
Unfortunately our flight from GC to Launceston was cancelled so I had to cancel our stay at the Hotel. I informed the Reservation Team and they refunded part of our stay which was an absolute blessing, all interactions were professional and very friendly, we will definitely rebook the Hotel Launceston for our next stay in Tasmania, thank you to Stacey and her team, wish you all the best Dawn Hughes and family.
Old building that has been adapted, as a result this is the smallest room I’ve ever had in a Mercure. Very comfortable bed as usual and pleasantly decorated, just tiny compared to the standard for the brand on fit-for-purpose built fresh new buildings. One thing I really like in Accor hotels (all brands) is that I can trust I will have a great sleep on their beds, they are amazing.
Room was awful as no natural light due to the windows being directly out into the car park and walk way, very noisy at all times due to heavy linen trolleys being transported around and staff congregating outside the room to chat. Breakfast next door was terrible, everything was cold and the eggs were not cooked still runny even when they were supposed to be scrambled
Stayed for work find the rooms spacious, clean and bed comfortable. Restaurant food basic but very good and service was great.
Friendly and helpful staff. Quick service and great meals in the restaurant.
People were running up and down the corridor at various times throughout the night; people were talking extremely loudly at 3 am, and the bedding was not clean as there were stains on the duvet. I went to the reception, but it was closed, as I had hoped to get a low-profile pillow. The drinking cups were so small it was barely worth using them. Very disappointed as staying at this hotel was a treat for us.
Very clean and tidy room, good location
Parking was up to hill, not recommended for old folks. No in-room slipper provided. Bathroom amenities all provided.Good for short stay. Check in was easy.
A very pleasant stay.
The room consists of King +single bed. It is very spacious. Free onsite parking. A damp smell in the bedroom and bathroom (not enough ventilation) I could hear loud noise from other rooms when they turn on the shower.
Our go-to Accommodation, Dining at TiTanium Restaurant and Bar for relax or appointments. Guests should REALLY try the tasty Breakfasts and Dinner before heading out and about.
Very convenient location - with a restaurant serving very good food - especially the steaks! A separate buffet breakfast room in the morning served a wide range of hot & cold items This is a good value hotel 👍😊
Best place in Launceston to stay with family!
Most hotels have a few quirks here and there and for the most part I don't mind however this hotel has a glaring issue with physical security.|Like most hotels, there are multiple points of entry. The doors at the front of the hotel are locked when the receptionists go home, requiring your room key to unlock which is normal.|There is however no such requirement for a key to walk on to the hotel premises if using the rear entrance on level 1 as the door lock has been removed. See attached photo.|Why bother locking the front door if the back door has no lock? Also, it looks quite old and could easily be kicked in even if there was a lock.|Thankfully the door to our room still had a lock.||As for the cyber security, if connect to the WiFi, you can see all the other devices connected to it including people's laptops and phones. Do you trust that all guests that stay at the hotel are going to be nice and not cause trouble for other guests and or staff?||To the management team: the room was in my partner's name instead of mine so it won't show in your system.
Nice hotel with free WiFi and free parking ||We had a spacious room with 2 showers and 2 sinks ||It’s clean and quiet ||||The only thing that is missing are fresh fruits or vegetables at the breakfast ||||We liked the staying and we highly recommend this hotel
Brilliant. Lux bathroom.
No complaints. Room good. Dining staff pleasant and helpful. Will be back.
We had a pleasant stay at Mercure Launceston. Room was comfy and spacious, only thing toilet/bathroom maybe a little squeezed in together. Other than that no issues at all. Staff were friendly and nice. We took the package with breakfast which had some nice choices. They have parking onsite as well which is always a plus.
Perfect location to explore the city by foot. Room quite large by hotel standards. Brekky finished at 9:30 … a tad too early for us🤷♀️ Parking @$6 daily convenient. Daily (or not … you choose how often the room is fully serviced) room servicing available
Convenient location. Room is nice and clean.
Friendly staff, easy check in. Room was reasonably clean. Had dinner in the restaurant which was very nice. Had buffet breakfast which unfortunately did not give the same satisfaction. Hot breakfast options were very limited and almost all trays were empty, waited 20 minutes for eggs and 40 minutes for grilled tomatoes to be replenished. Coffee machine was continuously having issues, 3 times while I was there, requiring staff assistance. Whilst the staff were very friendly, the service was very slow for breakfast, understaffed I believe. Generally the breakfast options were insufficient for the cost. I may stay there again, but I would not get the breakfast.
Great location, friendly staff, comfy bed, pillows a bit too firm. Would stay again.
Loved it.
Nice quiet, clean rooms, dark and warm for sleeping, good location. Staff were friendly and efficient. Lots of steps to the car park out the back but there is a lift if you can’t do steps and you can bring the car to the front for you you’d be ok. Mini bar was reasonably priced and the offer continental breakfast but we wanted to order individually so we went to nearby cafes. I would stay here again.
Well above my expectations. Great value
Really enjoyed my stay and I was really impressed with the room. the hotel was clean and tidy and well located. There is a bit of road noise in the room, but I did notice that earplugs were provided which is a nice touch. Will absolutely book in there again for my next trip!
generally, always great.
A great hotel. Simple, warm, comfy and very close to town. Great value. Good for a value holiday.
This is an older motel that has been renovated and now calls itself a hotel. Launceston is very hilly with some hills quite steep. This hotel was towards the top of one of these steep hills. There are three wings with carparking inbetween each wing. The wing closest to the road has two levels. There is a lift between these levels but the other wings are higher than the top level of the front wing. So if you miss out on a parking spot and have to park on the road you could have to lug your luggage up the road, up a handful of steps to reception, into the lift then out of that front wing up more steps to a room in the rear wing. The driveway up from the road to parking in front of the rear wing is seriously steep.|We were on the top level of the front wing nearest the roundabout. Didn't hear much road noise.|The room was not decorated to my tastes. Large format concrete-look tiles on the floor and walls of the bathroom with a feature wall of glossy black tiles. There was a large step up to raised shower recess. Here there was a dip down to the water outlet. Not good for those with mobility and balance issues. |King double bed was a bit soft for my liking. Silly hanging section in wardrobe. Rail ran front to back making it difficult to get coats and so on in and out.|The lovely park over the road and close proximity to city centre are saving graces.|Would I stay here again? Probably not.
Great service, very comfortable and spacious rooms. Worth noting if you're sensitive to sound, the rooms aren't well insulated against noise from outside and this is on the main road.
I have stayed here before didn’t have a great experience. Tried it again and to my surprise the rooms have been upgraded into 2024. I got a room not on the street which was a nice change. Price is ok for the stay so overall not a bad stay this time around.
The room is Nice, spacious, clean and had amazing views from the room. Staff at the reception were super nice and helpful. Breakfast is just average and could be better but other that that we had a great experience staying here at the Mercure Launceston.
Thank you for a wonderful hotel expereince for our 777 Marathon National touring Team. We had a wonderful experience at this property. The Manager, Stacey, was extremly accomodating to our needs. We will be back, same time next year. I reccomend this property for event groups, families, couples and girls weekends! Love it.
