I've eaten there a couple of times now, and the food has been really good and fairly priced as well.

Surf and turf dinner for $25.. can't go wrong. Food was tasty and well worth the money. We went on a Tuesday night when they had a quiz night on. Great atmosphere, great food and friendly service. Can't ask for more.

The service was the worst, I walked up to order the the man didn’t even care, looking at his phone and being silent whilst I’m waiting for him to tell me he’s ready to take my order. The food was horrible, we ordered garlic pizza which was just a flatbread with little to no garlic butter on the bread, next was supposed to be the Caesar schnitzel but we got a regular schnitzel (even though I asked for the schnitzel special, but whatever I was hungry and didn’t want to interact with the server which is a first) the schnitzel was dryer than the desert and harder than a rock, I thought I was going to break the plate before cutting into the chicken. Steak was cooked well but pretty bland. Pear and Blue cheese salad was okay, although the dressing didn’t really have enough flavour and only had a blue cheese taste from the blue cheese itself After my meal I immediately left as I couldn’t stay another minute in there. Sorry I guess 🤷‍♂️

Good meal, family friendly

Absolutely stupid. Half the time we come here don't have the ingredients for cocktails. Tonight was the worst. Was told no one does cocktails. Yet saw a person behind the bar who has done cocktails for us in the past.

Was extremely disappointed with the service. boys behind the bar served everyone around me while I waited 10mins to be served. Thought it was just me but when it happened again for my second drink. Not very professional.

Food is consistently decent. It gets better when the Head Chef is on duty, but the problem is you don't know when he is. When he's not the standard drops. Bar staff are quite friendly with one young lady standing out over the pack with professionalism while others swear behind the bar, which is the exact opposite. It doesn't matter when it is or what time it is, someone's always watching.

It's a great little local tavern. The food is hit and miss though. Some times you get a great meal and then the next can be average. But it's a friendly place and worth a visit.

This was the first time we have eaten at the Tavern. The steaks were perfectly cooked and very tender. Service was quick and friendly. Reasonably priced. Definitely added to my favourite places to eat list.

My wife and I have gone to the Merrimac tavern a few times this month. The service has been absolutely top notch, we asked for a kids meal tonight because my wife wanted the spaghetti and they happily made it into a main meal for us and gave us containers for left overs. The cosmopolitans my wife was getting were great and all staff took great care of us. No complaints at all. We went to the pokie room and all the locals are amazing to have a chat with. Would definitely recommend this place.

Thursday, $7 steak off was disappointing. 300gr porterhouse was very thin, hard to chew. Prawns and the cav sav were great. Were 4 of us and I don't think we received $7 off for the Thursday special.

We came across this place after the place we found on Google was fully booked. Glad we did as it was a really nice experience

Good food except for the garlic pitta bread its awful you need to bring back the normal garlic bread.

Great place, but when served we saw the waiter eat out of our plate🤯 before bringing to the table. A few minutes later I saw the same waiter put a side chips and dim sims for himself again from another plate. How discussted and horrified I was. I have worked 20+ years in hospitality never have I seen this attitude towards the customer service, this waiter should be fired on the spot and management supervise a little closer, bye the way what does the chef do just let this slid ???? This has to be looked into immediately. I will discuss this experience to health and safety.

We went to Merrimac tavern for lunch and from where we were seated we were able to see the waiter taking food for himself to eat from the plates he was about to serve. I was shocked to see the waiter picking food from the dish he was about to serve us... Amazingly discusting!!!

Nice little pub, easy access. Music trivia on Tuesday nights starting at 6.00.

Always good food and generous portion sizes, fast service, nice atmosphere. In particular the man behind the bar/counter today serving was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We live Northern gc and anytime we go south we will stop in here for lunch. Enjoyable experience 👍

Need to change back to normal batter on their fish. The pepper batter is not a welcomed change. Absolutely awful now. Time to boycott again.

A good local pub for us to visit. As a senior, the prices are certainly within our budget, but not only that, the menu certainly satisfies our palate. I love offal, so the Lambs Fry and Bacon, is my 1st choice.

Terrible food could only give as low as a one star if I could give lower I would and to be fair I gave 3 chances in their meals don't eat here your chicken will be over fried and rubbery! Pasta is a no go also.

Young bloke at the bar needs an Attitude adjustment..Lucky I didn't give him one!!!! Food is ok..Atmosphere is pretty non existing as it's just gotten too far out of people's reach.. The price of beer, food, and deserts, are like the whole of Australia a Rip off..

Once again the Merrimac tavern has been very average due to poor customer service, had dinner there tonight, ordered a entree (platter for 2-4 people) plus 3 mains. I asked the lady when placing the order if the mains can be 15-20 minutes after the entree, and what do you know, they brought it all out together... No thanks, you can take the mains back, there is not enough room on the table, and I did ask prior to ordering. Food was great, but this type of service has happened on quite a few occasions. Switch ya ears on...

Finally found a place that still gives you the option of chips and salad OR potato mash and veg with your meal. My chicken parmigiana was 10/10, friendly staff, Easy going atmosphere. Highly recommend this place!

As a long term Merrimac local it is good to see the tavern have a facelift. However, disappointing to see that the front deck, the nicest place to sit, is now allocated to the smokers so not only do they get best seats but as you enter the tavern you have to walk thru the cloud of smoke. It isn't very kid friendly, they should have a kids corner to cater to the local families. Meals are a good size.

Had a table of 12 for dinner on a Saturday. All meals were prepared quickly and delivered at the same time. The quality was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Great place to catch up with friends for a couple of wines. I visit from interstate and it's a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff and good pub food. Always look forward to coming back.

Wow! they have really reinvented this place and the staff couldn't do enough. Didn't have seafood pasta on the menu, but when we asked, the waiter who in turn asked the chef if he could make it. The answer was absolutely! Better yet... it was delicious! Highly recommended Merrimac tavern! .

Feel sorry for the chef working hard by himself, putting the plates nicely presented on the pass, ringing the belt and the 3 absolutely lazy guys on the bar on the phone, or sitting having a break watching everything and ignoring the poor fella in the kitchen. After watching my food getting cold on the pass for 10 min. Had to run it myslef to my own table. You need a manager !
