Our History

Penrith Gaels began from humble beginnings in the early 1970s with the formation of a Gaelic football team. Members and friends decided to run dances to fund this team. Over time, the Gaels established a Hurling team, and by the early 1980s, they had formed a very successful school of Irish Dancing, Social Golf Club, Soccer teams, and a Drama School. Penrith Gaels also boasted a travel club, which helped their members get home to Ireland.

Around this time, the club changed its name to Penrith Gaels Cultural and Sporting Association Limited. The Penrith Gaels Committee and their members had high aspirations of building club premises in the area. Fundraising dances were held monthly in local halls.

Through the 1980s and 1990s, the sub-clubs maintained a very competitive standard in their fields. The social and fundraising dances continued, and we also held our very successful biannual “Ireland over Here” Festivals at Penrith Football Stadium. These festivals were attended by the Penrith community and people from all over NSW.

It wasn’t until the mid-1990s that the current premises became available. Formerly the “Kingswood Squash Courts”, the committee, generously supported by the Mt Isa Irish Association, decided to purchase the building. Renovations began in early 1997, and with the benefit of all our voluntary labor from our Foundation Members, our Club was finally opened in August 1997.

With the help of management and staff, our Club has thankfully been thriving, and with the help of a few dedicated volunteers, we now boast a wonderful facility for the benefit of our members and guests.

Our Club was built from the pure persistence of the committee and members. We are proud of our achievements and would like you also to be very proud of the wee club with a big heart.

Wonderful club, staff are very community focused. Tried the food for the new chef and was very impressed. Recommend a visit.

Best Guinness in Town 👌

Top place

A lovely small club with Irish charm. Staff are friendly and helpful. Meals are large and tasty, with many Irish favourites. The chicken curry is always a favourite. Guinness on tap and poured properly.

Service good i come here almost every thurdays for always get irish stew tonight no flavour i was really disappointed

First time here. Lovely front receptionist and great bartender named Paul. Welcoming atmosphere. Will be back.

We've celebrated three birthdays here and the welcoming and friendly staff are always on point in their service. The food is yummy and comes out in a timely fashion, and the live music is always a blast. Thanks, team!

Great food and well priced

Fantastic club, service was brilliant and food was delicious, highly recommend this club

Great atmosphere

Great venue to see a live show

Love this place . Great food and fun

The curry sauce is a must try

Bland, flavourless and unappetising food. Oz rock Tribute band Aussie Anthems" were even worse than the food. Won't be back!"

Great Trivia on Wednesday night. Good meals friendly club indeed

The food was really delicious great night out

Friendly staff and cold beer

Not bad for a quick feed ,nice food @ a reasonable price.great staff great service.

Very homey feeling in club

Great ambience and friendly staff.

Great Curry

Attended a private function at this club. Friendly staff, food at the Bistro was plentiful and very reasonably priced.

Great little club Staff are very friendly. Food is fantastic. Saturday afternoon happy hour is a bonus.

Omg how cool. If you want to get away from RSL based menus try this place. Irish stews and other rareties. Foods lovely. Staff are super friendly. Wish I lived closer.

Great atmosphere. Great food. Great staff

Saturday night no live music🫨

Really good atmosphere food service was amazing will definitely come back

The club doesn't care about the members. Taking away key events that bring people to the club. New manager is incompetent.

Was only there for a quick Guinness and to catch the end of the footy but the service was lovely and atmosphere was welcoming, can't fault it. I'm out of area by a longshot so unfortunately I won't be returning on a regular basis but if I could, I would.

Great Atmosphere cold beers good meals

Great club. They have excellent facilities, amazing staff and it is such a pleasant place to catch up with friends and enjoy a meal.

Had a wonderful st Patrick's day there

Good food cold drinks and helpful staff

Friendly staff, great atmosphere and The Quokkas Band were very entertaining and fun

Attended for a wake in the function room. Service was welcoming and menu looked great.

Nice food and good hospitality. Refreshing Kilkenny Irish Beer. Tasty Guiness lamb pie. I'll be back. 🙂

Awesome place for Irish music. Lots of people meat raffles too.

Great food, won a meat tray recommend the Gaels Irish Pub!!!!

To bright and light

Great club. Great atmosphere.

Food was rubbish 35 bucks for an unseasoned dry steak mash potatoes that were not even mashed good on ya’s👍 ,only good part was the vb on tap

The food was mediocre and overpriced. 3 sausages, runny brown liquid ( gravy?), lumpy mashed potatoes was disgusting and a waste of money! Seriously, $25!!!

This afternoon Michelle and I decided to visit the Gaels club located on Richmond Road in Kingswood. I have reviewed this venue previously however this venue has changed catering companies now and the new catering provider that services this venue is called Seared Dining. Our server Brooke and chef Shannon were amazing. I was very impressed that my sesame allergy was considered when ordering and nothing was too much trouble for Brooke and Shannon. When Michelle and I entered the venue, we located a table and browsed the menu. I was deciding between an Irish Schnitzel topped with curry sauce cheese and bacon or the Shamrock beef burger. I settled on the Shamrock beef burger. The Shamrock Beef Burger offers a delightful fusion of flavours and textures. The juicy beef patty is complemented by the gooey goodness of American cheese, while the freshness of tomato, onion, and lettuce adds a crisp balance. The Turkish roll provides a unique twist, and the beetroot relish adds a sweet tanginess that elevates the overall taste. The harmonious blend of BBQ sauce and aioli ties everything together, making it a mouthwatering experience that's sure to satisfy your burger cravings. Normally this Burger was on a sesame bun however Shannon our Chef swapped the bun for a Turkish roll. The burger was accompanied by a side of hand cut chips. The chips were seasoned perfectly and the chips were crisp and not dry. Delightful if you are a chip lover. Michelle chose the McDonnells chicken curry. McDonnells Chicken Curry offers a delightful combination of tender chicken, vibrant peas, and chat potatoes, creating a well-balanced and flavourful dish. The succulent chicken is cooked to perfection, complemented by the wholesome addition of peas and the satisfying texture of chat potatoes. The curry sauce ties everything together, infusing each ingredient with rich and aromatic spices. Served alongside steamed rice, this meal provides a satisfying and hearty dining experience. Michelle really enjoyed her curry and said the flavours were amazing. I was looking forward to a pint of Kilkenny which I really enjoyed. This beverage was creamy, refreshing to my palate and does not disappoint. Michelle and I really enjoyed our impressive lunch today at the Gael’s club. I plan on visiting again very soon and give this venue a ten out of ten. The customer service was outstanding and if you have not recently visited the Gael’s club, I urge you to pop in and say Hi to the friendly staff. Thanks, team, for a very impressive lunch today.

The food was good and reasonably priced and the beer was cold

This is a place you bring family to. All promises are met at the Gaels. It is a no-nonsense venue that puts the community first. Guaranteed laughs and great staff deliver genuinely good food at club prices. If you find yourself in the Golden West, never a miss and hit this gem up first.

Used to great place with great food now the food is not as good.

Great food

Great food and the Guinness just right

Used to come here for the curry parmi.... oh well.

Top place great meals & the most friendly Courtesy Bus Driver .

I always love coming here for the wrestling! AND FOOD!

Nice little club, very friendly

Just had a wake there this afternoon and the kitchen catering was extremely good and we were all catered for well …. Thank you!

Tonight's relaunch was an abject failure. Prices up, service down, and wait times up. They forget to add the chicken in a chicken salad.... Over an hour wait for food. I will note that the chicken schnitzel (with Mexican beef topper) and its salad was quite nice, but the chips tasted dry, bland, and like they had been sitting there for quite a awhile (they could do with some type of seasoning, salt didn't help). Lots of improvement needed, simply unacceptable.

Awesome little club

Awesome club great vibe

Great meals, some a bit pricey.

All foreign-owned beers both on tap and in the bottle. The place is like a big, old 1980s school hall. Needs modernising. Badly. They have 16 tap beers all owned by Japanese corporations and none that represent Australia which at present is producing some of the finest beers in the world but these small producers regularly go out of business because certain clubs are bought by the Japanese Yen. There are 2 new small breweries in Penrith that need your support. Rusty Penny and I can't remember the other one.

Love the quiet atmosphere, the food and the staff are lovely. Always our go to for earing out. Lovely good sized meals reasonably priced. Best bangers and mash EVER!!

Went to a Birthday party on Saturday night. The Roast Dinner was great. The Staff friendly. No complaints at all

Great beer. Great food. Great music.

I was here as work had organised an education day, so I thought I’d eat from their lunch menu. I ordered a chicken schnitzel (not very Irish, I know). It was only $15 and a massive serving- can’t imagine what their dinner serving size is. The food was delicious and for $15 I have nothing to complain about. They also had tomato and BBQ sauce available for free. My table mates had the Irish stew and like me they demolished their meals. I wish I had taken a picture of the food. Highly recommend this venue.

Last time I ate there the food was middle of the road. Not bad not good. Kind of dingy atmosphere, but I like it that way. Good place to catch up for a chat.

Good food lively service heaps of ambience

Lunch was good and cheap

Was unimpressed with the clubs & their handling of our party. Beer Taps didn't work so the bar tab went very quickly with guests having to get bottles instead . The tab of 555.00 Apparently was suddenly short $50. Altogether disappointing

This club has been a staple for my family for decades when hosting events such as birthdays and wakes. Don't expect a world class establishment. This is a brick and mortar, down to earth good old Irish pub that serves it's community well. The staff are friendly and the taps are always flowing. What more can you ask for?

Love the atmosphere here. Especially on St Pats.

Fantastic food... greqt location and setup... well worth a visit
