Terrible. Ordered the $47 steak to be told the scotch isn’t available and it was going to be porterhouse (a tiny portion too). Then I ordered it rare and was told they are only cooking them medium. Not a nice steak at all. Chips were pretty good. Staff were very slack but when they were at our table they were pushy and just didn’t want to be there. Deep friend entrees were nice. Just go next door to the oak tree.

Ordered steak... Only to be told that it's not available, and porterhouse is the only option. Then be told the only way it is cooked, is medium. Now this was the absolute worst steak I've ever eaten. At first, I didn't know whether to eat it, or give it a ride home... Tough as old boots, cold in the middle, and absolutely tasteless. Rip off... Service was abysmal. Slow, not caring, had to ask for water- on a 35⁰ day today, only to be given glasses with dried food stuck to the sides. Disaster experience, will never return

hostess was lovely & accommodated as we were a last minute pop in but food was below average - ordered the bruschetta , had 1 cherry tomorrow on cut in half & soggy bread - my friend had fisherman’s basket - frozen prawns & calamari & overcooked chips - was charged $15 for a coke zero & lemon lime & bitters !!! dissapointed with the food .

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the bar and restaurant I was hoping for. There were limited drinks available on the menu, which wasn’t good enough for a bar. And the food was very average for a restaurant, everything we asked for the staff said sorry we don’t have that available tonight. 🤦‍♂️ At the end of our night we thought they can’t get a coffee wrong, but they said sorry the coffee machine isn’t working. 🤷‍♂️ Very disappointing.

Right from when we arrived the staff were lovely. The menu has a good variety, without being too overwhelming. My husband had the Chicken Souvlaki and I had the Lamb Cutlets and both meals were absolutely amazing. We will definitely be going back again. After we had finished our main meals we ordered dessert and coffee, I asked if they did Affogatto (it was not on the menu) the waitress said it wasn't something they normally had but she would see what they can do. Within minutes she was back with the Affogatto, and it was perfect.

Went to this place and had awesome night with a friend and saw awesome 80's and 90's cover band and had a very enjoyable night. This is enjoyable place to have a nice night.

The chef wouldn't change the menu to cater to my allergies. I can't have canola oil or gluten. I tried to order a steak with potato or an egg but he wasn't prepared to help me with anything. I went hungry. What a horrible experience.

Fantastic place, with a great atmosphere. we had a good night. Would have liked to have given 5 stars however the food wasn’t as good as we expected (Parma and steaks a little over cooked). The band on duty for the night (The Teenagers) were great and played a variety of classic rock songs.

Recently celebrated a milestone birthday at the Acorn. Organised a function room which was decorated beautifully. Function coordinator Sue Lennon was great and ensured the evening was enjoyed by my guests and me. Huge volume of finger food, all delicious! The band playing that night was Resurfaced, who were FABULOUS!! They play a mix of hits from 70's - 2000's, something for everyone. Lead singer Rachel is fantastic! The whole venue was up dancing from start to finish. Wonderful night!!

Had dinner here last night. Southern fried chicken burger and parma were both exceptional. Lots of classic Aussie rock playing in the background which made for a great atmosphere. Pricing is also very reasonable. ~$120 for 2 meals, 2 pints and 2 cocktails.

Went here to see Abba Arrival, was fantastic, will be back again the next time they are playing. They had free finger food which was a win for the kids. Very crowded but overall great night.

It was cold and empty. The server was sweet but the food was awful. Plain and no Greek salad as described. No love in the food at all. Not a good look when the cook is out the back smoking

We went there a few weeks ago for a group lunch. I had the Southern Chicken burger. Very sizable serving with chips. All came out promptly and service was great. Staff pleasant and engaged. You order your drinks from the bar. Split bills. Only thing was that my chicken was a bit dry. Over cooked a bit. I still ate it all.

Cannot fault The Acorn. The service is excellent and the venue is never quiet which is testament to the reputation of the place. The menu is small, but caters for everybody's tastes, and steaks are cooked to perfection. I highly recommend The Acorn if you want to combine your meal with quality live music.

Probably the most unwelcoming place ive ever set foot in. From the feel of the place to the incredibly dismissive and rude staff. Appears to lend itself as a part time aged care home and despite having tables available clearly without reservation denied access without and explanation one can assume that because we arent in adult diapers we cant eat here

Great little venue tucked away in the Basin at the foothills of Mt. Dandenong. Pub type dinner that caters for the family, then a live band kicks off at 8 pm and rocks out till late. The staff are very friendly and the owner is their cleaning the tables and serving the drinks, hes also a great bloke.

We went fr dinner on a Saturday and stayed to watch the band. The food was delicious and I could barely eat it all because of the large serving. Great atmosphere in the renovated bistro. Staff are friendly and the band was great. Danced the night away!

Great atmosphere but feel the food is slipping a bit. Decent burger and lots of chips. Can't put my finger on it but just a bit different to what it use to be.

Food was very expensive and majorly disappointing. The seafood platter at $36 was a selection of overcooked frozen stuff accompanied by an inedible soup of coleslaw dressing. The steak burgers $29, featured wafer thin leathery meat. Chips were nice but light on. Overall a terrible attempt at super simple food. Recommend to skip the food and just go for the band.

Expensive! Food only average. Considering price, I expected better. Not everything on the menu was available. Disappointing.

Really good vibes and cool venue, nothing against the establishment but definitely an older conservative crowd as my girlfriend was getting judged and pointed at for her outfit choice.

Great place for a social dinner, there was live music which was fantastic also. The Parma was tasty and massive, highly recommended!

A nice pub at the foothills of the Dandy Ranges. For a pub surprisingly- there is an extensive range on the menu. We were here for Sunday lunch recently. Tix to see a play at the nearby The Basin Theatre will get you 10% off your bill (which we found out later) as this Pub is one of the sponsors. Entrees are a good size - calamari with Greek salad was good though calamari was a tad rubbery. Garlic bread was chunky & nice. My friends enjoyed their gnocchi & chicken mushroom mains. Hefty Sunday surcharge. Wine selection is good. Clean amenities. Limited free street parking on Sun. Advisable to book ahead & you will receive a txt confirmation.

I was there last night and horrified to see a group of women dancing to the band and obviously enjoying themselves, how dare they behave in this fashion at such a high end establishment. Fortunately the owner, a man of obvious fine tailoring and high education stepped in and told them to stop. He was even kind enough to offer one of the women “a pole out the back if she wanted to dance that way”. What a fine gentleman, thankfully he saved us from ensuring any more of their fun and laughter! Update: And a nice quick response from the man of the hour! How fortunate we are to have someone of your stature protecting us and our strict family values, I feel it’s and invaluable service you are providing, and with witty commentary like offering one of your patrons a pole to dance on out the back and then telling them to F$&@ off and never come back as they left. I only wish there were more of you out there protecting us from the evils of dancing and fun!

The band Checkpoint Charlie were very entertaining with a great variety of music. So much fun.

Headed there for Sunday lunch at 1:30 got told kitchen closes at 1:45 and cook wasn’t up for doing any more meals. Note they only opened at 12 o’clock aswell…. makes absolutely no sense what so ever bit of a joke. Every time we go there and give it a chance seems to never work out for stupid reasons like the above. Another chance that was a waste of our time, not bothering again with the place. Sad it’s gone so down hill from what it use to be.

Beer is good. Got told no food and no chips at Sunday lunch. Probably 8 tables taken up. Staff took order for bar snacks then refunded money. Told us to go to the cafe across the road. Been here many times before and before, it’s a shame. We try to support local businesses. I would say drinks only venue. Don’t bother with food unless you book. Had to finish my beer and watch all the meals go past me!

Went on a sunday lunchtime, sat out in the rear beer garden. Ordered drinks snd meals by table service. Had parma and chicken burger, cooked perfectly and big serves. Good service and food.
