My wife and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at this hotel. Rina was very friendly and helpful and with all of the other staff made us feel very welcome. The food was wonderful and the special cake which the staff gave to us helped to make our wedding anniversary very memorable. Thank you!
Located right outside Flinder St train station and tram station, very convenient. Clean and spacious rooms, excellent service. Quiet even though we were next to the elevators. Very good breakfast selection. Gym was well-equipped.
Celebrated my 50th birthday at Intercontinental Adelaide, staff very friendly, attentive and professional.
This is our second stay at the Intercontinental for Liv Golf and we had a great stay again. The hotel staff were exceptional in accommodating our need to extend a night due to a medical episode and grant a late check out. Will always stay here when we visit Adelaide.
Nice room, best buffet breakfast in Adelaide, definitely will be back again
Great central location in Adelaide
Our second time here and WOW. We love this place. Level 24 overlooking the river was absolutely stunning. Was a great surprise to get that awesome room. Everything about this complex is out of this world. Best buffet breakfast. We can't wait for our next getaway 💖
Good location and price are reasonable. Serve very good breakfast . Value for money . Very near to the convention centre and the park, was fortunate to catch up with the Australian day celebration at the park beside the hotel.
Best hotel in Adelaide.
Rooms were not as the pictures displayed. Very old and outdated
This review is based on two stays one week apart. I'm also an IHG Platinum Ambassador so had access to some perks a typical customer may not. Both visits were staycations given we live in Greater Adelaide and love short stays in the heart of Adelaide. The first stay was in a Junior King Suite on level 10 with 3 occupants, the second stay was a romantic getaway staying in level 23 in a park view room. All the staff here are super friendly and helpful. We really could not and have never been able to fault their willingness to help. Particular call out to the Club lounge team. The food also was great though we did experience some luke warm breakfast serves as we dined in the Club. The accommodation levels feel and look tired, walls need a refresh in both the rooms and corridors. The abandoned Club on the upper levels is sad, elements of the woodwork are rotting due to water leaks at some point, the atrium glasswork at the top of building has cobwebs and dust, so does the welcome canopy that you look onto from the club. I hope the presidential suite is top notch at almost $5k/night. I'm not a president, so not likely to ever find out at my salary 🤔 Whilst the rooms need a paint, and the fridge bar cabinets feel a little home grown, the cleanliness is excellent. The bathrooms, although still the same from our wedding night in the nineties, are super clean and in great condition - even the tile grout. Some of the original city views are constrained by the recent Skycity accommodation. It does feel like the group are ticking this property over until a new building comes into service. We still love coming here however it is not the showcase site it used to be.
Very comfortable hotel at a reasonable price in a wonderful position very close to railway station and tram stops, easy walk to the Rundle Mall. The Intercontinental Club with its great staff added to the enjoyment of our stay
The hotel staff really are amazing. So friendly. Probably best location hotel as it’s next to the train station. Really safe and enjoyable and well priced hotel.
Great place, great & responsive staff and and very warm service. Highly recommended. Truly IHG property 👍🏼
People who work there are wonderful and always prepared to help. Only thing was the new bedding that was put on when my room was made up had what appeared to be a big coffee stain on the quilt which was plain to see as it was on top of bed.
Great location. But the rooms really need a major refresh
Nice clean rooms & nice and central
The exceptional service more than compensated for a hotel is a little tired looking and overdue for a makeover. However cleanliness was very good. The overall experience was outstanding.
As a diamond elite and ambassador member, the hotel upgraded me to a room with a view overlooking the river. I was also given a $25 drinks allowance. Breakfast was fabulous with a large variety of choices plus omelettes. Staff were excellent and for a city centre hotel in a great location the price was great. Would stay again as on holiday from Scotland.Sadly didn’t have time to use the pool.
The Intercontinental has never disappointed me. I have not been there for 2 to 3 years but went back recently and nothing has changed: the staff is very nice and professional, the rooms are big, clean and comfortable, the location is perfect. Nothing bad to say about this hotel. I will come back.
The hotel was very clean. Convenient parking nearby and close to parks which is great for early morning walks. We had breakfast buffet and really liked cold pressed juices.
I have stayed at the hotel at least 10 times now and always return for one simple reason. The hotel and staff always look after me and are aware of any dietary needs and requirements in the room itself. When I stay at the hotel I always select the Club Intercontinental as it is like a hotel within a hotel. I have been tempted to stay at newer hotels within the Adelaide but the service brings me back. Plus most newer hotels have air conditioning in the room that turns off or goes to a higher temperature (in summer) when there is no movement. ||Room: pilows and bedding always meet my requests on file. I always book the Club King Room with a river view. Yes we all know that the room is dated with browns, but you need to remember as I have experienced over Christmas all modern hotels use the colour of brown and grey. So the brown bathroom is now fashionable again!! I love the water pressure in the shower, as most hotels I have stayed at use special rain water shower heads no pressure and water is cold after 2-3 mins. As I am a very difficult sleeper, the hotel even provided me with a fan as I find that I needed this when I am sleeping.||Club Intercontinental: excellent service with breakfast, afternoon tea and drinks and canapes in the evening. Again aware of my dietay requirements and they were all met. Staff are always so obliging. I know that guests had complained that hot food at night is brought to your table but in most 5 star hotels, this is what normally occurs in a Club Lounge. Most recently when I stayed in the Duxton in Perth. ||Room service: I had the two dinners in the room and found all meals were hot and the food was fantastic. ||Gym: did not use it this time, however, it has what anyone needs when they are on holidays. Though there is a lot of parks and the river to walk around when I am there. ||In summary outstanding, excellent hotel. If you have any requests or needs remember to inform the hotel staff.
Came for dinner in the Atrium Lounge last night with my friend, both down from Sydney and it's safe to say we won't be back here. The service was abysmal. Nobody came near us when we first arrived we had to go up and get menus ourselves. I explained my alergies to the waitor a few times in which he had still messed up the order. I then waited 1hr for my meal to be served. Others around us also seemed to be experiencing the same issues. Very poor for a 'five star' hotel.
The Atrium Bar is a lovely spot with a great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The bar has a great selection of food and drink. Well worth a visit.
Enjoyed our 3 night stay, thank you for having our room ready early much appreciated Most staff we encountered were friendly and professional, Easy check in/out. Fantastic location Club Room can see the idea of the tasting plates, ensuring each guest receive an equal sampling. However the cold options leave a lot to be desired. Quite often we would only have cheese and crackers, currently a very small dish of cheese is available and just a few crackers On a more positive note Daniel is a real standout very polite, friendly and professional, goes above and beyond Atrium Bar is always a lovely place to relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat, also friendly and professional staff members Rooms even though the rooms are a bit dated, they are large the bathroom is huge compared to other hotels Thank you again Intercontinental Adelaide
Unfortunately again being an ambassador member there was no room upgrade this is almost a regular occurrence now for us, the price for a room with club room access is a little bit expensive now, the towels are small one thing we really enjoyed about the hotel the large towels, no gowns, no soap for the bath (had to pop the service me sign on door for when we went out at 5) on check in day. Hopefully with our return on the 11/1/25 things might be a bit different.
Great location when staying in Adelaide to enjoy the IHG hospitality. Rooms are clean, comfortable. Service is excellent and bar downstairs is brilliant. Highly recommend the InterContinental Adelaide for your next business or leisure trip to Adelaide.
Great hotel and location if you are happy to pay a premium or get a good deal for a stay. The hotel is 15 mins drive from the airport (about $17 uber fare). The location is right next to the Adelaide train station and just across the river from the Adelaide Oval but you’d barely notice if a game is on if you are staying on the other side (street side) of the hotel. The room is spacious, is somewhat aged, but most importantly as an IHG hotel the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is stylish and contains a bath. There is a small pool downstairs in an outdoor terrace and a large gym room with heaps of machines and facilities (no sauna or spa that I could see)||Interestingly, the hotel is right next to the most non-descript casino in the world. There’s barely a sign visible to say it’s Adelaide Casino and you’d only know if you look through the windows and see the machines when walking on the river side of the hotel.||There is a few eating places nearby but you are better to walk or catch the free city tram to some other areas that offer more alternatives.||Overall, you won’t go wrong staying here for the hotel and facilities.
perfect set-up for a business trip. nothing is too hard
Stayed for 3 nights and while we agree with other reviews noting the rooms are somewhat dated, overall the stay was excellent. The team at the Club Lounge were excellent, Yuki in particular was fantastic and made every possible allowance for my partners food restrictions. Both agree we would stay again.
Fantastic location with great access and views out to the water. We recently stayed three nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and the service provided by the staff was amazing. |We stayed in an Club room which had fantastic views out to the water. The rooms are a little quirky in shape which was a welcome change from the standard design you seen in so many hotels these days. The bathroom was huge. We had read reviews that the hotel is very dated, and whilst a lot of fixtures are definitely showing their age, the room was very clean and had all the facilities you would need. ||What really set this hotel apart was the fantastic service we received. On multiple occasions staff went over and above what we would have expected to make sure our stay was special. Special note has to go to the staff in the club lounge who made us feel very welcome and the duty manager who gave us many personal recommendations of places to visit in the Barossa and surrounding areas. ||As other reviews have mentioned, the club lounge operates differently with a nightly themed selection of canapes offered on a plate. This was complimented by a small self service selection of fruits and cheeses. I really enjoyed this setup over the traditional buffet as you could sit back and relax. The food quality each day we dined was fantastic. The only recommendation would be to improve the selection of food on offer at the afternoon tea. ||The other hotel facilities were great including a well heated pool, gym, bar and restaurant. ||Overall, we do hope the hotel proceeds with its planned refurbishments as, when combined with the service provided this will take the hotel to the next level. Can't wait to return in the future.
I have nothing but praise for the staff and their attitude but feel saddened by the urge of the group managers who determine pricing structure to discount my long-standing occupancy giving the impression of profits from central office at odds with the attitude of the hotel's staff.
From the time we arrived staff were amazing, greeted us at the door checking in he was great he got our room close to the lift due to me being in a moonboot , room was absolutely beautiful the view was perfect, the food in the restaurant was amazing and breakfast was delicious we loved our stay and can’t wait to come back
We stayed in a classic room. Size was good, bed and pillows were very comfy. Could stream to TV. Shower was great! ||We parked at the convention centre car park for $32 we parked the car and didn’t move it until we were leaving. Easy paved and flat walk from park exit to hotel. Concierge parking they park your cars for our outdoors at the entrance. ||Location is perfect 👌🏻 particularly if you have an event at the convention centre or adelaide oval. ||Staff were very nice and accomodating. ||Decor is dated. The room was very very hot the next day which was a forecasted 40 degree day. We didn’t take advantage of the late check out due to the heat in the room. Friends who stayed at the same time said the same.
Overall lovely hotel. Only criticism would be not enough staff working to serve drinks in the bar area on the ground floor, especially after major event like day night test cricket finishes for the day. Bar also needed to stay open longer hours during big event weekends like test cricket. Closing at 10 pm on a Sunday night not ideal.
I have been staying at this hotel for the last 10 years when I fly down to the watch the cricket test series. In the past I have had great service, quiet rooms and good food, this trip however was a little different. I booked this some 6 months before when there were plenty of rooms available. I am also a diamond member so usually recieve a room upgrade. This time I was told on arrival that they are very full, couldn't do any upgrades and my room was right next to the elevator (something I have in my prefrences to avoid) despite also paying extra for a clublounge room. So for the first three nights I had the sounds of people loudly talking coming out of the elvator all night. They eventully moved my room but that was with 1 night left. I can understand the hotel being full but would of expected room allcations to have been done when booking, expecially for a diamond member. Club lounge was good, although I ended up going to the normal buffett breakfast as the club breakfast range was pretty limited in comparison. So all in all a disappointing stay this year, hopefully it improves
Bit biased as I get special treatment here. Better than your average bear.
Highly recommend this place to stay at to anyone who is going to Adelaide for work or holiday the staff are so friendly and very very well respected to me when I needed help I cannot thank them enough merry Xmas to all staff and have a wonderful time
All the staff from f&b, club, valet were wonderful! Even though the rooms are a little dated and worn-out, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere in Adelaide.
Our stay was perfectly on point from the smile as we stepped out of the car and handed over our keys and luggage, checked in & lucky to be upgraded, bags arrived just before we did to the room, popped a cork whilst we toured our room and enjoyed the 20th floor view, quickly changed into our “glamourfit” for the evening, slept like babies and absolutely loved the sleepyhead late start, afternoon at that, as we drove away with happy hearts & a sprinkle of magic for our soul xx ️
Great facilities ,especially oriented towards business ,people and those attending events ,family friendly
Not great experience
Very happy with all aspects of the hotel
We checked in here for a few days thinking it’s a 5 star hotel so it would be a great start to our month long holiday….Wrong!! The location, staff and the foyer were lovely but that’s kind of where the 5 stars stop. The hotel is in desperate need of new carpets and paint within their rooms and corridors. The first room we were allocated the toilet didn’t flush. A man came and got it to work eventually. They moved us to another room where the carpets and paint were in the same condition and this toilet flushed but then kept flushing until you pressed the button again. The photos of these rooms speak for themselves. I would not expect this in a 3 star hotel let alone a 5 star one however their prices are definitely 5 star. As far as the location you could not get better however we do not recommend it nor would we stay here again unfortunately. From our perspective the company that owns this hotel needs to put some thought towards freshening it up a little.
Excellent location. Friendly staff members Recommend enjoying local music in the Atrium bar Friday and Saturday evening
Staff were very welcoming and nice. Buffet breakfast was amazing. Pool is nice however room was very outdated. Stains on walls. Never seen so much terracotta in a bathroom setting before. Rooms are in much need of a refurbishment.
A tasty range of gourmet sandwiches, hot pastries, freshly baked scones, and delicious sweets, all made freshly in-house daily. The menu is seasonally inspired and locally sourced, ensuring a truly unique and authentic Seasonal High Tea Enjoy the current season's inspired menu, featuring the best of South Australia's produce Pleasently surprised theres a Kids High Tea whuch has a menu designed for children aged 4-12, available for $39 per child. Also a suggestion is its great gift idea High Tea Gift Vouchers for all!!
A good hotel in a good location.
Great luxurious hotel. Very nice breakfast.
The hotel is very nice and cannot really fault any area. Its located near everything, especially near the exhibition area where it was good for me. Its right next to the casino where you can have a drink and take a punt or two to pass the time. Or you can stake a stroll along the river.
Still nice but the rooms are just starting to get a bit old. Messed up my room service payment and has taken a visit to reception and several subsequent emails and I’m still waiting for a refund.
Have been coming here for years, used to be a gym member back in the Hilton days, and now come back to Adelaide every year for the Cricket. Great location and usually take care of their IHG members
A shame I only stayed one night. Lovely hotel.
only a short stay, good experiences. the room is very clean and staffs are warm and kind. No hotel carpark but valet parking available.
This hotel is well-placed for those attending the nearby conference centre. The rooms are large and have good views. They also have a reasonable gym, which is open 24 hours.||However, the breakfast is overpriced at $40 per head, andthere are some reasonable spots nearby.
it is now a week since i stayed overnight and i am still waiting to receive my account via email, very poor effort Intercontinental, very poor.
This is nice hotel but only offers valet parking at $60 a night. Didn't try their restaurants as there are many within walking distance. My room had a great view of the river. Staff friendly.
Room a bit dated but clean and tidy staff and service great Pool ok Breakfast great range fresh tasty lots to choose from.
Great place
The hotel is centrally located. Walk everywhere. Eat, Drink, Shop & Art only 5 mins walk. Staff at the Lounge are wonderful as always. The property is a little bit dated. Overall it was a pleasant stay, will be back again soon.
The reservations team didn’t listen to me and got my reservation wrong and didn’t explain to me correctly what they booked for me. When I arrived the staff including the manager were argumentative and didn’t want to listen to what I had to say. I ended up having to pay more money to resolve the issue and I had to pay more than the value listed on the website which when I brought it to the attention of the manager he didn’t want to listen even though he agreed with me. A bad experience and poor treatment of a member. We won’t be back!
We often go on a weekend for the buffet breakfast at the Riverside Restaurant. Today we went on a weekday but it was not the same. You pay $40 per head and the cashier had to use a calculator to work out the $40 x 4 =$160.00. This is not good. The table was under the window and the air-conditioning was so cold it was unpleasant. There was no cream for the pancakes and we were told there wouldn't be any provided. A blow fly was landing on the fresh peaches because they were bruised and 'on the turn'. A limited amount of some items are provided and run out quickly. The restaurant is open from 6.30am - 10.30am. My friend asked for a coffee at a couple of minutes after ten to be told at ten the coffee machine is turned off so no coffee for her. They start cleaning away at just after 10am so your last half hour is spent looking at clean-up time. I was so disappointed because this was a gift to my friends. Sorry but this is our last time now.
The Intercontinental in Adelaide is undeniably old and very much in need of a renovation. That said, it remains my preferred hotel when staying in Adelaide.||If you’re visiting the city, I highly recommend booking a room at the Intercontinental with Club access.||Despite the aging decor, the Club Lounge in Adelaide ranks in my global top five. The IC clubs in Sydney, Perth, and Auckland are also among my top five.||The lounge manager, Daniel; barman Jasper; and the chefs behind the scenes are simply extraordinary.||I’ve stayed at the Oriental in Bangkok—once hailed as the best hotel in the world—and I can say, the Club Lounge at the IC Adelaide is of a similar calibre. Just wow.
Recommended. Rooms are a bit dated, however excellent service, nice heated pool for the kids and superb value for money breakfast buffet. Location is excellent for exploring the city. Tram and buses within walking distance.
We came to the Intercon with high expectations. We were greeted by the excellent staff and checked in by Diviya, who took good care of use for a speedy checkin and apologised to us that he could not upgrade us ( Plat Ambassador, but we were promised 10,000 points to compensate me). We were then shown to our room, that had club floor access, and well, to say we were underwhelmed by the decor in the suite was an understatement. The rooms are tired and clean but in urgent need of updating to compete with the likes of their near by competitors Good points, excellent, knowledgeable, and caring staff. Club was excellent, and they really took care of us. Excellent team. Otherwise a very 80's hotel that looks like the 80's. I would give this place a miss until they renovate it.
Great Location, friendly, accommodating Staff, who go above and beyond to help you and rectify any issues immediately! Comfortable beds with Pillow Menu, great rooms, amenities and views. Public Transport on the doorstep, explore the City, shop, visit the Museum, Art Gallery, attend Concerts, Plays etc.
Its the only place that I will stay in Adelaide now. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast offers an excellent selection. The gym in the basement is also large and has plenty of machines. The hotel is located close to the railway station and has easy access to the tram system, the CBD, options for eating.
Love this location, the staff and the over all experience!
Have stayed 3 or 4 times now and have generally been impressed. Staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The only disappointment is when booking it is almost impossible to take advantage of advertised specials. I was unable to book on the website and the phone number is to a reservation agency that will not provide the special tariff offered.
From the situation to the quality of the room , it was a good experience . The food , in room , was amoung the best I have had , in many countries and hotels . The staff were very lovely and helpful . No complaints
From check in to check out we couldn't have been more happy with your staff. We had breakfast in the lounge which also was exceptional so thank you.
My wife and I loved our 2 night stay at InterContinental Adelaide during a trip to South Australia. The centrally located property is walking distance from great restaurants, bars and cafes in Adelaide. Spacious rooms feature great amenities and I especially love the large all marble bathrooms. They are very elegant. I’ve stayed at several Intercontinental’s during my travels and the bathrooms at this property are my favorite. We rented a car and enjoyed exploring the nearby wineries in South Australia. It was a fantastic trip, and this hotel was a great base for it. I would love to stay here again on a future trip to Adelaide.
Nice hotel. Lovely room with a great view. Friendly, helpful staff. Only downfall was that the food, although good, was a bit expensive.
Another outstanding experience was had this establishment. The staff is simply exemplary! This hotel should be the standard by which all other hotels attempt to emulate.
Rooms seem to be a bit dated.
Ideal location for the festival theatre. Great hotel. The handsoap takes me back to Africa!!!
Really enjoyed my 2 days at the InterCon. (Previously stayed at IHG Sydney.) Came for Chihuly glass sculptures in the botanic gardens. The hotel is convenient to everything - railway, trams, Rundle Mall, art gallery. Also just a 2 min dash in rain to get to Joanna Lumley event at nearby festival hall. Then back for a quick cocktail at the hotel bar. My room was spacious with a sofa so I didn't have to sit on the bed to relax. I had a lovely view of the river and Adelaide oval. Buffet breakfast was SO good. Home made bearnaise on the eggs benedict (so rare), crispy Danish pastries, omelettes and other dishes cooked on demand. You could even make your own fresh fruit/vegetable juice with extractor. Been a long time since I've had such a good breakfast in an hotel. My nephew said I could have stayed at his house, but so glad I didn't. Will stay at the InterCon again in a flash, but how will I tell him that!
Aircon didn’t work. Hot water didn’t work. Room was changed after 3rd request.
