We were visiting from Melbourne and Sydney. Service, beer and food were way above your average pub. Background live music a great addition too. Keep up the great work guys!

We were there when The Wooden Boat Festival was on so it was very busy and loud BUT the food was good and so was the service

Booked a table and glad we did. Vibe was great, service was very good and the food was lovely. Loved the atmosphere and the drinks list. Menu had lots to choose from. Great place for a meal or to while away the afternoon with live music.

This is a bloody cracker of a pub just like the good old days people talking to each other laughing and listening to great live music. We have booked a table for dinner for the following day as the food looks amazing as well. Cheers to the publican and staff a must do for Hobart 👍👍👍👍

Without a doubt the best pub in Hobart. I travel regularly to Hobart and it’s definitely my go to. Great selection of beers that are poured with care and the food is amazing. Guaranteed to meet someone from some other country or part of Australia who is just there to end the day with a good meal and a quick chat.

This used to be one of my favourite places (Irish Pub) apart from the name and decor there is nothing Irish about this pub anymore. The food was terrible. Squid rings tough like rubber, buffalo winds soggy and soaked with old oil, the salad was tasless with no dressing. Wait staff were lovely and music was great. Would not eat here again.

What a great pub to visit. Unfortunately this time the food was very disappointing. All meals ordered of low standard for the price. Squid and salad was tough and the salad consisted of a pile of lettuce on plate with a dressing. Nothing else. Everyone very disappointed with their meals and the waiter didn't care when I expressed our disappointment. Only ate it because we was hungry and the over price tag that came with it. So it's a no for me and I guess you have to visit the pub to make your own decisions but we wouldn't eat there again. I've given it a one star for food. Staff friendly at the bar, great atmosphere, great pub inside. Just food was disappointing and over priced. Other pubs in Tassie with better food tasted.

Excellent night out, great atmosphere, very friendly staff, good music, subtle lighting, comfortable seating, good quality wine and beer. We'll be back.

This was a fantastic pub. On Sunday afternoon they had live music. Really friendly staff. Great range of beers. The food coming out looked amazing.

We had a delicious dinner here, the wallabies were prepared perfectly, smooth and tasty 😋 the beer was also great, I never had a beer before that leaves the mango taste on your tongue. It was a pity the live music didn’t start until we left, nevertheless a great experience.

Good food served by some of the most attentative and knowledgeable wait staff. Well priced, broard selection being happy to accommodate requested variations to sweets. Food was tasty and well prepared.

Great discovery, we visited each night of our stay, we're English and touring Australia. We ate delicious food once, otherwise used it as a place for a relaxing drink. Super atmosphere, friendly staff and quality beers and wines. This would be our local if we lived here!

An Irish bar with such great food, all clients i saw eating, I as well returned our plates wiped clean. Had a musician playing the guitar and it was awesome. Everybody sang and danced along, the vibe was great.

The atmosphere is great, a good range of local and imported beers and great staff.

Wasn't in the hotel for accommodation but just got in for some drinks. The outdoor area is cool and vast range of spirits and beer. Loved their small garden at the back

A fantastic Irish bar in downtown Hobart. There is a shoe shiner every Thursday so make sure to wear your leather boots. Staff were excellent.

Hi, we had our xmas function upstairs at the weekend. There were 38 in our party and all were impressed with their meals and friendly staff Would happily book again!!

Always good for music and good times. A very recent visit for a meal with friends cemented the service ethic in the restaurant, a great menu. For a 'pub' the plate pictured was of high quality and presentation. The present management and crew can be proud of what they do.

We had our staff dinner here. All 18 of us upstairs in the Chapel Room. Service was great and prompt and accommodating. Food was great. If you're planning your end of year dinner for your workplace, can't recommend the New Sydney Hotel enough

Proper watering hole

Reuben sammich was great👌👌👌, the vibe,the music, and the people are bloody great over there. Defo one of the best pub in town without a doubt. The damn guinness 🤘🤘

What a fabulous bar. I walked in and thought oh no this isn’t for me. But I sat at the bar chatted with the lovely bar staff and didn’t look back. A shoe shine guy came in the bar. The bar got busy and the atmosphere took off. Loved every minute of it. Best of all were their own espresso Martinis, yummy. Best I’ve ever tasted.

The atmosphere was very upbeat and lively. The food came out fast even though they were very busy. It was well presented and tasty. Staff were friendly.

Stayed at Allurity across the road, came down for procedure at RHH had been New Sydney before but Happy Days when I saw it across the road . Love the place, makes a man with Irish background a happy man Guiness and Kilkenny on tap. YOU BEAUTY! Food, pigs, ears, buffalo wings, salt n pepper squid, warm olives ,chips on the side garlic bread, Arrived hot and super tasty,. Bar staff, waiter staff and atmosphere sensational. Back to Launny tomorrow, already thinking what I'll have next time.

The burger I had for dinner the patty was bright pink and looked raw!

I live in Melbourne and travel to Hobart often for work. Even if I didn’t, this pub would be enough to keep me coming back. It is a wonderful establishment and the Guinness on tap is the best I have had in Australia. I love this pub.

Lovely Guinness, v v nice

Best Guinness I’ve had in Australia, great live music and generally a lovely venue. I find a lot of Australian pubs lack character / atmosphere but this place was really great

I ordered the porterhouse steak and even though it was medium rare it was still dry and tough. My partner ordered a parmi and he couldn't even finish it cause they burned the crust and that's all you could taste, the salad barely had dressing on it and it was an extra $2.50. The waitress was lovely and professional, made sure we always had water.

Easily the best pub in Hobart and in my top 5 in Australia. As a Guinness enthusiast the New Sydney is one of my favourite pubs for a consistent quality pint, one of the best I've had outside of Ireland. Staff are friendly and ambience is in abundance!

We came for the food and ambiance. Located just across the street from our accommodation we decide to check it out. We were not disappointed. The food, the atmosphere and the jovial, accomodating hospitality from the staff was a great place to spend time. Highly recommend and would love to visit again.

The New Sydney Hotel is always an exceptional time. The food is top drawer and we just love it! We miss it when not in Hobart.

Plenty people around to give it an atmosphere. Had a few men proposition me which was unusual but not unbelievable. Seems to be a bit of that in this watering hole but I've no issue with that really. Only issue I had was the barman poured my Guinness up half way but forgot to finish it for about fifteen minutes. Id have walked out if I hadn't already paid the high price for it. Twas a bit of a kick in the teeth, didn't order Guinness again after that. Overall it was a positive experience, as good as you get in Australia anyway

We were a party of 5. Two steaks, two parmis and a fish and chips. Food was excellent although the fish had too much batter. Wine was good and the beers although the mid strngth beers were a bit watery. Great service and great value. The ambience was good - not too crowded.

It's good but they are a bit rude having music on the radio when the Irish band are trying to play live.

Great atmosphere, food and service. We ordered drinks and food. The 1st steak wasn't cooked to perfection, the waitress noticed very quickly and offered us free drinks and recooked it to perfection.

Best legit sunday roast in Australia. The swing music and dance was a fantastic bonus.
