“We loved staying in a family room - actually had 2 separate bedrooms. Everything was clean and tidy, and the service we received was amazing.”

Couldn't even tell me that I booked on the last day they were open before they permanently closed, they sent me a booking confirmation and everything then I show up and they were closed, I rung every number available and heard nothing. I called another hotel and the concierge only just happened to hear about the hotel closing.

It's definitely not a 4-star hotel for sure. The rooms were not at all maintened. The only good thing is they've got some parking space. The location of the hotel is good, lots of food joints nearby. Room: The carpet was old and uneven. The bathroom was not was shown online. The second floor or the hotel seems to be adjusted into the ceiling. The TV is old school, no phone in the room. The walls were think could hear the kid next door or if someone walked passed.

We checked in late one evening and had a hiccup with our room but the next morning, the front desk fixed the error, put us in an upgraded room to make up for the issue and checked up on us regularly. We had a few special requests which were promptly responded to as well. Best to call the front desk during hours and make sure your requests are noted before check in. Fabulous location, and easy to park.

We were stuck with a cancelled flight and managed to get a room here late at night. Heather was so helpful and made the experience so easy for us. the price was very good and the room was lovely and clean. i would definitely recommend this place to others and was very happy with our stay. thanks for having us!

Our room was so spacious and I had the best sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel in my life. The bed and pillows were perfect for me. Our kids had a seperate room in the soundproof apartment. Was just ideal. No lift but Josh the lovely man on reception carried all our bags up the stairs and honestly he couldn’t do enough for us. Very pleased and the location is excellent for a nice 8 min walk into town, the best bakery on the next corner omg try the banana bread and coffee was best coffee on our trip!, and near the river for a walk and hogs breath which our kids loved for the curly fries and the steaks were so good! Quiet and relaxing, quaint and older style but nicely renovated and very comfortable. We have asthma and allergies and they didn’t get set off here so 5 stars! A lovely sitting room in the reception foyer with large fake skin chairs great for photos in front of the fireplace. I’d stay here again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel Launceston, and it was truly a fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the attention to detail and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were immaculate—spotlessly clean and clearly maintained to the highest standard. The décor was elegant yet comfortable, striking a perfect balance between classic charm and modern style. I also appreciated the thoughtful inclusion of modern appliances, which made the stay even more convenient and enjoyable. Everything from the smart TV to the well-equipped kitchenette was designed with guest comfort in mind. However, what truly made my stay memorable was the exceptional service. Paul, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly, always ready to assist with a smile. Whether it was offering local recommendations or ensuring every detail of my stay was flawless, his dedication to excellent service did not go unnoticed. Overall, the Grand Hotel Launceston is a gem, combining cleanliness, style, and outstanding hospitality. I highly recommend it and will definitely stay here again on my next visit.

A historic 3 storey building with no elevators and in need of TLC. Bed was comfortable, bathroom fine. Staff obliging. But overall disappointing. Oh and this is the first hotel I’ve stayed where you have to “ask” for your room to be serviced (read the in room instructions silly) although someone else in the group had their room serviced without doing so. Mmm. Could be so much more with a more customer service mindset.

Room was lovely and clean with a nice bubble bath. The guy at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer and helped us out with a few things. The location was just a short walk from the Main Street and close by the river embankment for a relaxing stroll

Air con not working properly

Beautiful hotel with alot of charm. Great service, clean and comfortable room

The four star ratings is from a bygone day. You can’t even get breakfast in this establishment. Rooms are spacious but be prepared to do your own room service. A flight of stairs with no lift may be a challenge for many with larger luggage. If you are looking for bed and breakfast and maybe a few facilities, stay well away from the Grand Hotel Launceston.

Nice place nice room nice beds for suite46

Amazing service - thank you Kayne

We only stopped in to ask about the restaurant that was part of the hotel building. Looks like it could be a good place to stay while exploring Launceston.

Helpful and nice staff, the hotel has an older design. It’s nice and close to a café. Pretty cheap, $213 for one night, four people.

Room service is to be requested one day in advance, however we still did not manage to get room service when we came back the next day. The wifi is very strong and stable.

Great accomodation, great location and great value for money.

Lovely big room, comfortable bed, very helpful staff and great location.

Great Hotel. Great value. Great service.

My husband and I stayed at the (NOT) Grand Hotel on the 12th July and have been trying to deal with our experience since then with no outcome. Our room was broken into and about $800 worth of our property was taken. We filed a police report but with no surveillance cameras the hotel management say there is nothing they can do. We have been offered no compensation and have been accused of lying about the incident. The security door downstairs cannot be locked allowing access by anyone at any time which is terrible. We are at a complete loss as to how we have been treated...photos below show our room lock and the security door downstairs that can’t be locked 😡

Stayed here for 6 nights on a business trip. Very comfortable accommodation, great sized room with comfy couch. Shower had great water pressure. Easy walk to CBD. The Luz restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Staff are very friendly and most helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

We were in a spa room at the back of the property. Unfortunately there is no nice outlook from the hotel but rooms are comfortable, after a very quick check-in process. Location is pretty good, fantastic for the football. Traffic noise is quite loud at times but is acceptable. Maybe some bottled water would be good, as would extra towels.

The hotel has no any camera, which does zero help when 5 cars in the hotel car park were broken in overnight. Friendly staff and clean room, security facilities need to be improved.

We wished we could have stayed here longer! The room was very spacious, clean and well set up with a mini kitchen including microwave, kettle and a coffee pod machine. Also plenty of free parking within the complex!

Arrive at this hotel. Dirty dust in the room. Office gave a upgraded room with the same problem. Did the booking through booking. Com. Never again. Still waiting for a refund. Not good.

The staff were the nices people ever. The only problem was our booking got changed a little but nothing to big to worry about. I can't stress how good the staff were. Location was good maccas right near by. Rooms were cleaning except from 1 stain on the floor. And the main thing i was looking forward to was the resturant but he decided he didnt want to work for the week but still good overall. Excellent hotel and staff

Room was ok. Receptionist was great very helpful however room was dusty informed the same receptionist and she took care of room. We went out and when returned the room was a lot better.

I love the charm of this hotel. Room was really spacious and soooo cosy that I wanted to stay all day in bed! Heather from the reception is the best hotel staff I’ve ever come across. She is sooo friendly and gives such excellent service. I will definitely stay here again without a doubt

Rooms were a good size and nice and clean , and the bed and pillows were comfortable . However, I had a flickering light in my room, which I couldn't use . Service was nice and friendly, but reception was unattended a lot, being that it was a long weekend . They are forgiven . Would most certainly stay there again .

The room was bigger than what we expected and well maintained

Staying at the Grand Hotel Launceston was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. Our room was not only luxurious but also meticulously clean and well-appointed, providing the perfect sanctuary for a restful night's sleep. What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service provided by Heather. When we realized we had left behind our cherished 'blue duck' plush toy, Heather went out of her way to assist us in arranging for its safe return. Her kindness and attentiveness made us feel truly valued as guests. Overall, our experience at the Grand Hotel Launceston was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of luxurious accommodations, impeccable service, and attention to detail made for a truly memorable stay. We can't wait to visit again and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a top-notch experience in Launceston.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff only problem was hot water was only just warm

Had a great stay. In a big, beautiful old building with large and clean rooms. Unfortunately our hot water wasn’t working but staff were very apologetic, provided a refund and gift on exit. Great customer service. Would stay here again.

Stayed 2 nights at this lovely old world charm hotel. The room was ultra spacious with plenty of room for a very comfortable chesterfield lounge. The bathroom was light & modern and the bed comfortable. Very easy walk to the City Gardens, cafes, pubs & shops. Heather at reception was friendly, helpful & welcoming.

Our stay at The Grand Hotel Launceston was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, we were met with the kindest reception we've ever experienced. The staff went above and beyond, especially with the thoughtful surprise they arranged for my daughter's birthday. The accommodations were luxurious, offering a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. Dining was a culinary adventure, with each meal surpassing our expectations. Every detail was attended to with care, leaving us with cherished memories and a longing to return. Truly an unforgettable experience of warmth and hospitality.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights and were very pleased with the premises. Staff very friendly and happy to help out, beds were comfortable and the room we had was huge. Downside was the stairs to access the 1st floor but really it adds to the era of the place and wasn't really to much of a problem. Location is perfect where walking can be done with minimal effort. Overall I would probably stay there again next time we're in lonni.

We started here as a break from our campervan during our honeymoon and the place was beautiful. We walked everywhere within the two nights we spent here. Sarah has great customer service skills and just an overall great vibes! The resturant is also amazing! Nicole gave great suggestions in where to visit around North tas and the Chef can make an amazing ox Cheek and Octopus. Would 100% visit again

Loved the old characteristics and charm, rooms clean and tidy, reception lovely, very nice old hotel.

Fantastic. I enjoyed staying with them for the weekend but then my flight home got cancelled - even though it was late they sorted me out for an extra night, very thankful for their excellent service.

Stay away! Deluxe Queen rooms supposedly spacious luxurious renovation!! The room has terrible mattress, cracked basin and torn carpets. No access to foyer and sitting area shown on photos from 6pm to 9am as it was all locked off Repeatedly tried to liaise with hotel for partial refund however only offered a small credit for next visit after we logged complaint with Wotif. This doesn’t help as will never be back !

Very quiet, ok room. Very stuffy, no fresh air. Coffee machine didn't work only found that out at 6am in the morning on our departure also there was no hot water that same morning. I don't think I would stay there if we came back.

Everything here was wonderful.the room was immaculate and very well appointed. Colby was very friendly and looked after our every need. Definately highly recommend. Thanks Colby J and K

Excellent room with historic feel. Beautiful bed and welcoming spar bath. Helpful reception. Good parking. And in a location central to the city sites. Price was for us a little steep but we stayed in high demand period due to Festivale weekend in park across the road. Highly recommended.

Arrived late at night so had to self check in, the room was very big and the bed was really comfortable. Shame we were only staying the one night

Lovely quaint hotel room in sleepy little Launceston. Bath tub, chocolate on arriving, very clean room. Would definitely recommend if you're passing through!

good hotel to stay. Friendly staff.

Enjoyed the stay here. Room was clean. Very great historical feel to the place. Bathroom upgrade in room was really modern and a nice touch. Rest of room is fairly old but one would expect that when it is a very old building. Only one laundry with washing machine/drier (downstairs). Old stairs and building very quaint but be wary if given top room with lots of luggage will need to do one at a time up old stair cases. I will say even thought it is centralised tp town I feel 349 we paid a night for a room was a little over-priced. (Family Room) especially seeing we just left and it's now advertised as 250 a night the same week. That is the luck of the draw booking months out though. Wasn't what I expected for price. ... Although staff we dealt with were very pleasant and accommodating perhaps next time could offer to help with bags?

Not value for money. Stayed in room 36, Broken Aircon unable to cool room. Hotel has 3 floor without any lift. Carpet was very old. Sofa was very old. One of bad hotel in city. Sorry not stay again any of there hotel

Very old and smelly

Staff are amazing. Exceptionally clean. Couldn't really fault it. It will be my go-to from now on.

HORRIBLE AND SCARY HONESTLY (FYI long review ahead) Warning- I didn’t take photos of this place as it was horrendous. However, I have attached my iPhone location of the only photo (my English Breakfast tea) I took in that hotel to prove that I visited this place. 1. THE SMELL 🤢- We stayed in the top floor with the balcony view room (not sure whats the exact name of that room called). It was a large room with 2 double beds and one single bed. However, the minute I walked in, the room had the worst stench. It was disgusting, it had an almost ‘old, dusty, not cleaned enough’ stench. I understand that its a “vintage” hotel but no one asked for a ‘vintage smell’ along with it. 2. The scary bathroom wooden door 🚪 - the room had one bathroom and that bathroom door was like it came out of a horror movie. It looked as if someone used an axe to cut the door open diagonally and tried to forcibly enter the bathroom to do God knows what. I know it sounds like I’m being dramatic but I’m not. It was cut deep through enough to see the bathroom light peeking through the large slit. It’s not gonna cost you a lot to change the door, just change it. 3. BEDS PLACEMENT 🛏️ 🚽- I genuinely dont even know how these people run a hotel. The three beds were placed RIGHT next to the toilet. Like, one of the beds was like a few cms away from the toilet. Dont get me wrong, the room was more than BIG enough to have the beds put in the opposite direction, but no. Ugh, you dont know how much of an inconvenience this is until you’re living in it. Every time someone goes to the toilet at night, the rest of the people sleeping in front of the bathroom would wake up. The smell, the sound and everything else from the toilet was for anyone sleeping in the front to enjoy. Awful. 3. CLEANLINESS- there was 0. Other than the toilets, nothing was clean. It was dirty and stinky, definitely NOT a 4-star hotel. PLS, just pls save some money, energy and just book another hotel. We found this place as there wasn’t much choices in Launceston. BIG MISTAKE. Never again will I visit this place. Its more of a $90 per night hotel, 4-star my foot.

Not value to money, overpriced comparing to services and hotel quality. A died and dried fly was found at the bottom of my room’s window. Will not clean your room. Very old building. Why four stars?

If you like a touch of history then this place is great. The rooms are a throwback but with modern updates. The restaurant is pricey but food is excellent with local produce. The Head Chef is a perfectionist which is what you want in high-end food.

Awesome stay with family. They upgraded the room for free to spa family room and my little one absolutely loved spa every night during our stay. Thanks to the friendly staffs! ❤️

Pleasantly surprised. Room was very spacious. Easy walk to town centre. Had dinner in the restaurant on-site was very tasty. Bonus was the laundry room on-site so we could wash our clothes. Shame it was one night as this booking was a hidden jewel in our holiday. Will definitely be back.

Great central location and very quiet area. We also got an upgrade which was amazing!

Excellent location, comfortable beds, very attentive manager. I recommend it.

The hotel has an excellent location, close to everything. The attention was very good and the rooms are large and comfortable.

Very good location, attentive and concerned staff, meets the basic needs of a hotel of this category, spacious rooms and very good lighting, we had a problem upon arrival but it was solved at the time of notification, recommended.

Good location, good service, friendly and attentive staff.

Large rooms and we'll maintained. Really good desk space, so great for work.

Loved every tiny bit of this hotel. Excellent location. The service was amazing! The rooms were amazing! Great preservation of the history. Only downside was the flooding shower drain.

Really comfortable, quiet, well-located within walking distance of everything and great value for the price. Will definitely stay here again when in Launceston.

Decent location & Nice rooms. would stay again

Enjoyed my stay lovely rooms book in advance if your keen for dinner

Great all round...will be back!!!

Great value, good rooms, convenient location. It's my new go-to in Launceston.

What a delightful stay. Comfy bed. Quiet. Large room. Everything you need. Excellent.

This is lovely old building restored to a terrific Motel with all the things you need and want in a Motel

DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE

We are staying at The Grand Hotel for our last 5 nights of our 6 weeks in Tasmania, we are on night 3. Great location, central to everywhere, great staff, clean rooms, we love the heritage building. Jude and the team are absolutely amazing and I can’t fault them,. We had a very spacious queen room with a comfortable leather lounge, bed was very comfortable too. Crockery & cutlery were included in room. No cooking facilities, but when I asked about a microwave I was so surprised when I was told one will be brought to my room. Thrilled I could hear up home cooked food. If I could give a 10 star review I would for service, cleanliness and location. Thank you

I'm from Qld, and this accommodation was perfect to stay in the night before flying out. It a very unique place. I felt like it described Launceston it a Tee. Old but beautifully restored. It's the only place I'd stay in .. and then the Metzler place for dinner. 100% in my Aussie eyes. 👀

Room was clean and well appointed. TV did not have smart features so just free to air channels. Could not cast from phone. Coffee in room was instant coffee delivered by packet and via a pod machine. For me, would prefer Nespresso or equivalent pod machine with real coffee.

Amazing staff wanting to help out guests where they can. Very relaxing stay and good place to recover after the Overland Track!!

Horrible experience...we stayed there for 3 nights, the rooms were dirty, with dust on every corner, carpets needed deep vaccuming and there were webs outside the windows. They didn't provide housekeeping for three days, didn't clean the bathrooms, didn't take out the trash and the receptionist was very rude when we asked for clean plates. It's way overpriced for the kind of service they provide.

This hotel is super old aka crusty . The floor of my room is slanted and the room does not have a desk .
