Great place for get together on a sunny day
Nice place, very busy, it's not really for me, i prefer great service and amazing food in a quieter location
Best place to have a meal with our dog…
Bloody good pub
Great pub, good food, cozy feel. They looked after my elderly parents.
Loved their 3-5pm menu
Great place for a relaxing lunch or drink with mates
Grand Hotel Warrandyte – Great Food, Friendly Vibes, but Bring Kid Distractions The Grand Hotel Warrandyte strikes a solid balance between bistro and pub, offering a wide selection of food and drinks that cater to both casual diners and those after something a bit fancier. The food is great, the drinks list is extensive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The standout, though, is the service—staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, making the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Whether you’re popping in for a quick meal or settling in for a long lunch, you’ll be well looked after. The only downside? No playground or space to entertain kids, which means little ones might get restless. If you’re dining as a family, best to come prepared with some distractions. Overall, a fantastic spot with great food, excellent service, and a welcoming vibe—just don’t expect the kids to stay entertained on their own.
Okay so we picked a very warm day for a pub lunch. That aside - the food was super ordinary and I wouldn't order the fish and chips again. Could tell the fish was out of the freezer. Aldi's fish is way better even if you have to take it home, coat in bread crumbs and then oven baked.
Very busy when I went. Place was really buzzing if you like that sort of thing. Can get quite crowded. Lots of younger people as the night rolls on.
Great place and atmosphere
Food was delicious. Very popular spot. Tables could be a bit larger though, a bit cramped and can't believe you can't get a coffee after your meal.
Not only a great vibe, the food was fantastic. The Teriyaki Glazed Salmon Fillet is one of the best I have ever tasted. Would definitely recommend this venue as as a great Aussie dining experience 😊
Didn't eat here, just drinks
I ordered the calamari which was burnt and tough… terrible. My husband had tiger prawns pasta…. 5 small prawns lost in a bowl of pesto pasta…. Not good . Every other meal came with pesto….?? I cannot understand why it is so popular…. Nice setting is the only plus . Won’t be back
Went to The Grand for meal with my family. As a carnivore there was not too much choice except for the two steak meals. The specials for the day advertised fried eggs with the meal so being able to eat eggs in my diet I asked for these instead of a salad. Was told no that I could not change the order to have eggs. This being contrary to the signs in clear view posted at the order desk that says meals could not be change EXCEPT for dietary requirements. Not impressed with service and will be posting this to all my carnivore Facebook pages to ensure none of them visit this hotel for a meal.
Food quality has gone downhill.
I’m not generally a person who reviews, but I really wanted to thank the wonderful young waiter/girl who attended to my MIL on Friday night when she knocked over and broke her full glass of wine. It was very busy, but she was so attentive and genuine in her concern for my MIL. I was so thankful and impressed by her caring nature. 🙏❤️ On a side note, it was a shame there is no senior menu or allowance made for older people who perhaps want a smaller serving size. Thanks again.
Great place. Food was good and had a good vibe for Friday lunch
I had their vegi pizza last night (evening) and throughout the night in my sleep I had terrible abdominal pain… this followed with more cramping, fatigue, nausea and body shakes all of today. I dare say I got food poisoning from them :(
Service excellent. Staff friendly. Great atmosphere.
Good pub with a nice selection of beers, wines and soft drinks. Didn't wait long at the bar to get served. Waiting staff were all friendly. Good atmosphere. Overall a nice place for a drink and food.
Bar seems to be run by kids fresh out of high school that barely know what they’re serving. One of them asked me if I wanted a tall glass and a wedge of lime for my neat 10yo single malt, then served it in a scratched up water glass. Previously some kid overpoured me a shot of gin like he was doing me a favour in a nightclub, letting it run all over his grubby fingers into my glass and leaving me with an unknown quantity of alcohol when I was planning to drive. May as well just swirl your fingers around in my drink. Food was real basic.
We came in for a bachelorette lunch and the service was above and beyond. The staff arranged and communicated a new table to sit at with the forecasted rain, made us feel very welcomed upon arrival, provided table service, and even accommodated for 6 people sharing 5 arranchini ;) Food & drinks were delicious to top it all off!
Salom wasn't fresh at all... Tasted overcooked too.
Looks awesome! Across the road is the swimming spot.
Very disappointed in the staffs attitude towards my daughter last night. Only wanting food with some friends. Instructed to find a table that wasn't reserved. When they went to order food at the food only counter, they were told to leave. Not a family friendly place, and maybe staff should be more customer focused. Not going back.
I'm appalled at this horrific behaviour. We were greeted by a worker and told to grab a table and order at the counter. Once my friends and I made a selection from the share menu, we approached the counter for food orders only. While we were waiting to order, a woman in a white shirt confronted us and asked if we had ids on us. We explained we were only ordering food and she told us we needed an adult or ids to order food. She then proceeded to tell us that we needed to leave. On other occasions we have been welcomed and could order soft drinks on the bar on quiet weeknights. I am disgusted that we are only offered service when convenient, as this occasion was during a busy dinner time rush. We sincerely hope some consistency is applied to there procedures and ids are checked upon entrance. They wasted our time and we do not plan on returning. Instead we will support another local business that is not overhyped. #stillhungry
Very busy for a Tuesday night, felt for the staff as they were working as hard as possible, food was fantastic
The food here bangs, the music is usually too loud though on the deck. But it's an awesome place to go. Just maybe don't go for a quiet conversation xx
Unfortunately I was left disappointed with my first experience. Friends have visited there quite a few times including those who we went with on the night. We went on 27 December 2024 with friends and our children and could not make a booking which was fine as it was Christmas trading so no worries we got there before we thought it would be too busy. We got there at 5.20pm and there was only bar stool style table seating. We asked for a table and chairs due to my mobility issues and told the bistro was closed and only seating inside at the bar area and outside. It was very difficult to get up and down from the high stools. I’ve never made a push for accommodation but made me think how someone that was elderly would have managed as I struggled and it was very uncomfortable. It was disappointing to see when we left that they had opened the standard tables and chairs for people. I thought you could QR code order from the table (like Budgie Bar) but the QR is for the menus only. We ordered kids meals, shoestring fries $14, polenta chips $17 to share (which were very nice ) and our mains. We had asked that entree come first with kids meals then our meals with he chip sides. It all came at once. We managed though. I ordered the Teriyaki glazed salmon $34.00 which was cooked well but too much of the pickled spiced cucumber for me. Personal preference nothing against the dish it was great. The beer battered blue grenadier $30 was also well cooked and I was told a nice piece of fish The 2 guys ordered the $29 Mild Mexican Frijoles which I am sorry to say looked like a dogs breakfast. The bean chili looked unappetising, it was slapped together on a plate and both said it was average at best. They regretted not having the steak sandwich Now I didn’t order the kids meals so I was shocked when only 3 little chicken nuggets came out with chips (and salad) that cost $14! No drink included, no dessert just 3 nuggets with chips and salad. The price in my opinion was expensive for what was received, the service of the 2 young staff members Cody and Mason (girl) was amazing though. Really lovely and pleasant. You could see they were working hard and very polite. Saving grace. Would I rush back… no sorry. Great place maybe for a parma and a drink for people watching. But parma is $32 FYI. Was still a nice evening, we have great company and lovely service but the food and the price we paid for it let the experience down. If we go again; as always I will amend this review
Great pub, Caitlin is a gem, top service!
Very good friendly service. Cosy place. The food was nice as well.
So disappointed in our recent visit. Have not been in a while and the food and service have definitely gone down the drain.
Visit The Grand Hotel for the 2023 footy final. Great experience, great atmosphere, service and food. Can definitely recommend this place
Nice food & lovely staff.
Food was very nice and great atmosphere
Great selection of food and wine, stocking snake boutique wineries.
Absolutely LOVE this venue!! Have been to the Grand for a couple of events and it absolutely AMAZING!!
Great pub for a beer or a meal.
Service average. Food menu is limited. Appears to be designed to ensure you order more plates!
Food was stunning, and also at sensible amount. Really enjoyed the experience
Worst pub in Melbourne hands down
bulgogi pizza is excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A relaxed Sunday evening
Awesome pub
Starters came out in drips and drabs. Entrees never arrived ( we were refunded ) Mains came out one hour after the entrees never arrived. Fish was okay. Steak sandwich was okay. Porterhouse was uneatable and once the staff were finally available to notify all other main meal were finished. Complaint was dealt with not so well : Remake of the meal or a free drink. No, I would not like to eat another shit meal or drink a free drink by myself. Very disappointing from such a crowd favorite. Not sure if you guys are having an off night, week or month or this is the new standard. Maybe lay off the Reno’s and bring back the old Grand.
Excellent experience from the moment we stepped foot inside and we were greeted by the host. She asked if we had been to the venue before & we said no, and proceeded to give us all the helpful information before seating us. The pub was booked out for Saturday lunch but service was quick, friendly & ensured all our dietary needs were noted & met. From ordering food & drinks at the bar to our meals delivered & cleared from the tables it was seamless. Notable mention was the steak sandwich was excellent!
This is a huge thank you to the wonderful young staff at The Grand! We are always greeted with a smile and great service. You make this place special guys!! The loveliest group of people in the service industry. Well done The Grand Hotel
The chicken parmigiana was so tender and juicy, one of the best I've had.
I've been working in Warrandyte over the last few weeks, and been staying there. Have been having my dinner at the Grand every night I'm there. Great staff, great food, and a great atmosphere. Awesome pub. Keep it up!!
One of my favorite places to go. I regularly have lunch and drinks on a Friday with a close friend after walking the river, and the food is always good. We also attended their oaks day event which was a blast. Service was impeccable and can't wait for the next event. Live music on the day was also really good!
Yeah, the service and food were both good. It was pretty packed when I went on a public holiday, but it's still a great place to grab a bite and have a few drinks with mates.
Great time, a lunch with my son Alexander and a coffee and biscuits out of the boot on the river bank. Nice place to live if your so lucky
They don't sell non alcoholic whiskey.
Paid ask four scotch steak chips saled! Never got a scotch steak! It’ was as tougher than old boot! My dog ate well anyway! Aye brought it to there attention! All they said was sorry. Aye eat scotch steak every day! No marbleing in steak.Utcwas alwful.. !! Then she went ask chef what steak it was!!!of course he said scotch steak?? Not eat there again after paying over $$70 on steak and one beer???
Great old building for a pub.
The best pub in Victoria! Sensational food and people! And no Pokies!
Food was great. Couldn't get a table for lunch outside, so had to sit inside, it was OK but nothing special. Outside is gorgeous, will definitely book in advance next time.
Will not do menu alterations under any circumstances unless it is a food allergy. C'mon guys. That's just lazy. 😞
The atmosphere at The Grand Restaurant was inviting, and the decor was nicely done, but the service approach was disappointing. When our food arrived, we were surprised to find there was no cutlery. Upon asking, the server explained that guests are expected to pick up their own cutlery from a station near the bar, which was quite a distance from our table. Like, seriously – they could have just brought it to us! We are the costumers and we came to enjoy and be served. Apparently, this place has a lot of strange and inconvenient rules, making it feel out of place for a sit-down dining experience. They even have two menus: one they bring to your table, and the other you have to collect yourself, along with a buzzer. It’s as if they’re short on staff, yet their prices are anything but cheap. Finally, when I received a call and had to leave early, I requested a takeaway box for my meal, which I hadn’t yet started. However, I was told they don’t offer takeaway containers, leaving me with no option but to leave my food behind. Overall, not recommended at all.
A revisit down memory lane for a great meal and visit to beautiful part of suburban victoria!! Great visit!
Riverview room function was impressive, with great spaces, food and bar service!
My experience at The Grand Hotel Warrandyte was great! The atmosphere is amazing with a perfect blend of modern comfort and historic charm. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious (can see why it had the number 1 rated Parma in Melbourne) generous portions and a great variety on the menu. Whether you’re after a casual meal or a special night out, this place has it all. I highly recommend The Grand Hotel for its great service, fantastic food, and beautiful setting.
